General Painite growled as she looked out over the night. It was far too late, or early if one looked at it that way, for anyone to be out and about on a leisurely stroll. No large chunks of people hurrying home before it got too dark. The only people out now were the ones with no where to go.

They were fodder. Helpless souls with nothing left to lose. Their human lives had taken everything from them already: a Negaverse soldier had little room to make their lives worse. If anything, it would be a step up, to get killed.

Painite was not in the business of helping anyone.

Her opinions had changed. People were not only expendable, they only existed to be used. Be it in her plans, or in the plans of others: they were all pawns in this world. Herself included. She was learning, though, that the role did not suit her. Not now, not with how much she knew and how much power she knew she had. Power she was hiding away, not using to its fullest potential. It was a waste, and Painite was not going to sit idly by and let it continue.

No, this city, this world, was hers for the taking. And she would start taking.

She felt a blip of an aura somewhere nearby, and a grin immediately sliced its way across her face, as if drawn by a knife point. There was nothing warm or playful in the look: she was set in a foul and dark mood tonight. This was going to be fun, but only for herself. Instead of wasting time walking toward the Order aura, Painite teleported her way over, closing the gap between them.

Shangri-la was just about done his patrol. It had been a quiet night, no youma, no civilians to save and now troubles. He decided that it didn't seem like much was going to happen, so it was time to call it a night. He jumped up onto the rooftops and stretched only momentarily noticing a chaos aura before it seemingly vanished, not an altogether uncommon thing.

What was uncommon was for the aura to reappear dangerously close to him. He frowned before turning around and seeing the woman he hadn't thankfully seen in months fore she threatened his life and his family and had actively tried to kill him.

He was extremely tempted to run, but at the same time, he was pretty certain she would give chase, so he decided that to be straight forward. "Are you going to try to kill me again, because I would really prefer it if you didn't."

"Oh, it's you! My favorite little guy! And you look so very alone and vulnerable, just the way I remember you. I've missed you, and your infuriating habit of getting away from me every time I try to have a little fun."

She smiled at Shang and looked at him longingly, calling her weapon to her and leaning on it like it was a cane or a wall, staring at him with her wide, beautifully light seagreen eyes. They were anything but innocent, though, and though the color was crystal clear and bright, they were wholly cloaked in her very vivid and obviously evil intention.

Everything about her screamed Bad Guy. She wanted it that way. Needed it that way.

And this city needed something to be truly afraid of.

"I see you haven't changed much since the last time we met. So let me guess how this is going to go. I'm going to deliver some pithy and clever banter, and then make you bleed. Then you'll run away like a little girl, or call someone bigger and tougher here to help you. Does that sound about right?"

Shang was more and more embarrassed with each word she uttered. After just a moment unlike her he wore a frown which only became deeper. There was nothing fun about what she tried to do to him every time they ran into each other and his getting away from her was a very very good thing.

When she summoned her weapon he couldn't help but to take a step back away from her. Her demeanor was with it didn't make him any less worried, she was exactly the picture of a lady. Well she was, in that she was a woman, but not in that she held herself in a sadist manner that was truly frightening.

He didn't want to fight, but she was basically calling him out. Making him out to be a coward as opposed to a gentleman and making him feeling a bit inadequate.

"That's not true. I have changed a lot since the last time we met, but you were hardly around to witness that change were you? I care not for banter tonight and you might make me bleed, but I'm not running and I'm sure you realize that we are alone. Not only that the last time I ran you did that teleportation thing you did just now, making running a bit pointless."

He sighed looking at her, sporting a wholly less evil and slightly resigned demeanor. "I do not want to hurt you, you know. It doesn't have to be like this. I still do not understand why you are so intent."

"Well, I'm glad you've learned that running won't get you anywhere. Maybe we can have a real fight this time, and you can show me something impressive. Or maybe, you'll just bore me, and I'll have to find my own fun. Let's see how it goes.

She watched him for half a beat more, listening to his words about how he did not want to hurt her.

It was so very funny, the way they all said that. As if that was supposed to mean something to her? They did not want to hurt her, but what did she care? She didn't think they could, even if they wanted to: she was above them. Order was useless, and Chaos was always stronger. Chaos was meant to rule, meant to corrupt all it touched. It was a virus, spreading rapidly and without anything to stop it. They tried, but they fell to it like anything else. Did not want to hurt her? She was there to hurt him.

He could do whatever he wanted: whatever he tried, he would not avoid her end game.

"My name is General Painite, pal. I'm a Chaos General, and I've been in this game a really bloody long time. I have my fun hurting little things like you. Why is that so hard for you to understand? You think I need a bigger, better reason to justify being this evil creature you see before you. But I don't. Consider me a blight on your perfect world all you want, but you need to know: I do what I do because it's fun. Because I want to. And because I can."

She grabbed her spear then and brought it forward, business end pointing at him. She was not going to waste time. They were in an alley between two buildings, one with a large window. It looked into darkness, though, and there was nothing inside the building but abandoned, empty space.

Shang was very likely to fight for someone else, but far less likely to defend himself. Her certainly didn't want to die, but it was a lot easier he found for himself, at least, to protect someone else. He cared what happened to himself, but he cared more about the well being of others. Unfortunately that worked against him in instances like thing.

Her name, struck him, looking at her he decided he didn't like it at all, it was fitting that was for sure, but it also wasn't. She didn't look like she should be causing pain, but she did.

"I think because I want to and because I can are very childish, its hardly fun" he started before he found himself having a spear pointed at him and he quieted momentarily. He gave her a sad look, shaking his head before summoning his weapon prepared to try to keep her from stabbing him, until he could get away from her, which he had no doubt would be harder than the last time.

Painite grinned and charged at him. She was all too ready for some fun, having pent up too much energy. She wanted to kill, she wanted to see blood. And if she could take home this particular knight's starseed, she would be a very happy person. If she was capable of that emotion any more, something like this would really bring it out.

Only terrible things for others really made her feel anything, these days. She tended not to dwell on thinking about things like that, though.

A few steps into her charge, Painite blinked out of sight and reappeared just behind him, spinning herself and arching her spear as she did so, bringing it down and across his back in a strong and deep slash. She was not playing games with him, at least not the kind where she might hold back, or they could call time out.

Whatever her attitude, this was a fight to the death, that she had no intention of losing. Whether he 'wanted to hurt her' or not.

Shang wasn't really ready, but she held tight to his weapon and was poised when to block, but at the last moment she teleported behind him and he didn't have time to turn around before she brought her spear down across his back. He screamed out and fell to his knees turning over eyes wide with fear and trying to scramble backward away from her.

He could feel the cool night air against his back and the sting that remained for the spear's head. He said he wasn't going to run, but he wasn't sure he what to do in the moment. He gripped his weapon a little tighter and tried his very best to climb to his feet, keeping his eyes on her.

"I can't die today, they're are people who need me and who I care about. I wont let you kill me, but I don't want to hurt you. What would I gain from it?"

He turned his weapon around, wielding it like a sword and swung it out at her, trying to focus on his magic and ignore the ache in is back.

Painite watched him as he fell, admiring her work. The cut was as straight as she could manage, and she very much liked the look of it as blood began to flow. There was always a moment of hesitance, a pause when a deep cut was just a slice through previously flawless flesh, before the blood started to flow. It was only a fraction of a second, but it was one of Painite's favorite moments.

She let him skitter away, smiling at the sight. Chuckling, she brought her spear around a span the spear around a bit, holding the staff in both hands when she was doing playing with it. She could see his blood on the pavement, even in the darkness, but maybe that was only because she knew what she was looking for.

"You'd gain your life, you pillock. How hard is that accept? If you want to live, then you'll fight back. If you want me to kill you, then you'll keep with the noble knight act."

She grinned and moved back when he swung his weapon at her, though, glad to see he was putting up a little bit of a fight. Not that it would do him any good.

"So you've got people worrying about you, hmm? I wonder if they would know where to look, if you didn't come home tonight. I wonder who would find your body here, in this alley."
PostPosted: Tue May 27, 2014 12:46 am

Shang frowned at her feeling a little unbalanced. His life was important, but he was still afraid. That was it, he was afraid of going to far or possibly killing her. He didn't want her to bleed or die, he was a doctor, he didn't want that for anyone. He knew now, he'd talked to Silas, the symbolism of his weapon was what he made of it, but it was meant to protect him. That didn't mean he would even forget the image of his rod sticking out of that boys chest for all the good that it may have done.

"I have my life, you're the reason that I have to fight for it. I shouldn't need to, for what because of some grudge from a millennia ago, because the stars deemed it so. Why," he growled out feeling frustrated, "it not my life or your's. I do not operate that way."

He swung his weapon once more trying to focus on using the magic that had saved him before. She had dodged the first swing, but maybe he would be more successful with the next.

He looked desperate at the thought of one of those people he cared about finding him. What that would do to any of them and what they might do to Painite! Though as it was he wasn't sure anyone knew where he was, he was sure his sister new he was out and about, but not where. He wouldn't want her finding him anyway.

"Don't you have people worrying about you? Surely you have a family and friends who worried for your safety? Who would look for you, who you would fight for, die for?"

His grip on his weapon was tight, so much so that his fingers were turning white and he trembled slightly.

"Grudge? You haven't been listening. I'm here because I like it. I love it, in fact. I want to kill you because I think I will enjoy it immensely and, honestly, I could care less if the Negaverse ever found out about it. This fight, this is for me. That's all I need. Your weakness comes from your dependance on others."

Painite used to care about others. Her fellows in arms, those that worked under or for her. She used to have a civilian life she cared about. Now, all she saw was Chaos, and her own goals.

At the end of the day, Painite had nothing. No one. She was in this alone and when she died, as she knew it was only a matter of time with her ambition and recklessness, she would die alone. No one would come to find her body, or arrange a funeral. That was how she needed it to be, but more than that, how she wanted it. It allowed her to be unattached and she put everything she was into Chaos.

No reason to hide, no reason to hold back.

This time Shang was able to land a hit on her, as she was lunging forward to stab him again. It halted her and she fumbled a bit, her body feeling strange due to his magic. She was not fond of Senshi or Knight magic, and thought it was a super cheater way to win a fight. Not that she wanted to consider this a loss, just because she felt weird.

"That's it, no more Mrs. Nice Guy. I'm going to put your head on a pike, you little rat!"

"No," he said, although softly, his frustration rang clear. "Those other's they make me stronger. I don't depend on them! I protect them, I fight for them. They give me a reason to keep doing this every night."

He would do this at night, patrolling, training, fighting though he didn't want to hurt someone. He didn't want to go to work knowing that his hands had put someone there, even if his hand could help fix them. He wanted to shake Painite, it didn't escapes his notice that she didn't answer his question. He hoped that it wasn't that the answer was no so much as that she didn't want to make herself seem weak, but somehow he doubted it.

He didn't believe she really owned to this level of depravity, that she spouted off, but he didn't have time to think about it because she had managed to really drill it in, though he desperately wished he didn't have to, why he needed to fight, he just hoped it wasn't to late. The ache in his back made him doubt it a little, but he though about them and was able to ignore it.

When his weapon caught Painite he was briefly elated, her words fell on death ears, as he attempted to put his training to use, dropping down swinging out a leg hoping to knock her off her feet. He didn't know what he was going to do to get out of this, but for the moment if it was a fight Painite wanted, she finally got it.

"Except you're not fighting, are you? And you're certainly not defending any one. If I had to rely on you to protect me, I would be in a lot of trouble."

The General was angry, but she had never entered a battle truly happy. There was always something else, something dark, fueling her. She harnessed it to her own enjoyment, and she taunted and played with her targets until she got bored, but she was always dangerous. Always walking on that very thin line, a small step away from blind rage.

Her control was being lost, but only because she did not like it when her toys fought back in the middle of her games.

Or maybe she did like it. It was always a thrill, to find a battle that worked with and against her. She wanted to make him suffer because he managed to stand up for himself a little bit, and when he actually attacked her she was surprised. Her legs were swept out from under her and she hit the ground, which made her laugh. It was not a pleasant laugh, hollow and joyless, but she grinned ear to ear as she looked at him.

"Well, maybe I was too quick to judge. Let's see what you can do," she growled, getting to her feet and lunging for him, holding her spear in front of her, metal point angled toward the floor as she moved closer. She arched her body and brought the blade upwards in an arc, slashing at him.

He could hear ,in that moment, his sister's words, "Fight Shang you have to learn, I'm not going to go easy on you and neither will they." Maybe he was hard headed or stubborn wanting to believe their was good in e everyone. Maybe he took his oath a doctor to seriously, but it was a hard lesson he was still learning. He'd learn to fight out of necessity, but that didn't mean he wanted to especially not a woman, but ...

When she came at him with the spear once more he tried to catch the tip with his weapon the sound of metal clashing rang out, but still the spear slashed through fabric cutting open the skin on his shoulder staining the fabric around it dark. His weapon managed to keep her from slashing open his carotid but didn't keep fear and panic from rising up in him.

He pulled down hard on his weapon trying to get it spear away from him while lifting a leg and kicking out at her hip to get her away from him. He had a sort of wild look thought what that denoted remained to be seen.

"Stop, listen to me. Please stop."

General Painite found it hard to listen to anyone.

Even her own 'superiors' were no longer the extreme points of authority they once were. She felt like she knew how to do things, and what the Negaverse should be, and that was the only opinion she wanted to follow. Anyone else barking orders at her or giving her 'suggestions' on how she needed to conduct herself were not worth her time. She was in control of her strength, and the darkness that whirled inside her.

She growled as their weapons clashed, laughing madly with the thrill of the fight. He was finally defending himself! Painite loved a challenge, a threat: she needed to feel that pulse of danger, as much as she needed to give it to others. She felt like no one scared her any more, and that feeling drove her slowly mad, desperate for a real fight. A real purpose. She was hollow, searching for something to fill that gap inside her, and never knowing what it really was. She was reckless, and more than a little dangerous: she would do anything to feel this kind of a rush.

"Look at you, all grown up! Do you think you can beat me with that? Looking so scared? Do you think you're going to survive tonight? I can answer that question for you!" She yelled, smiling as she spoke, looking wild. She felt his foot connect with her hip and she was surprised by the hit, focusing on their weapons as she was. It was enough to jar her and pull her down sideways.

"You're not getting away from me this time!" she yelled at him, ignoring his pleas to make her stop. Listen to what? Him tell her she didn't have to hurt him? She thought it laughable, how dedicated to the idea that talking was a viable option this guy was. She twirled her spear around as she pulled it back toward her, readying for another attack. She lunged at him again, though she left herself wide open for an attack, if he was brave enough to take it.
