After much e-mailing and asking around, Connor had finally taken the first step and invited his potential-new-roomate for a showing of the place.
It was still pretty much a mess, though the fish tanks did add adorable appeal. The only clean place was the kitchen, which was unusually spotless. The second room (which he'd been using as a junk room), had been cleared out and emptied. All of the excess had been shoved casually into his closet or under the bed.
The doorbell rang, and he took a deep breath. His hand on the doorknob, he braced himself for the impending awkwardness. Time to socialize.

Adam stood on the doorstep for maybe two minutes, contemplating turning around. He didn't know this guy. This was potentially a REALLY bad idea. He could be killed, or this guy could be a hoarder, or he could be killed. Killed. He was too pretty too be killed.
He curled his hands into a fist. He could do this.
He took a deep breath, puffed out his cheeks as he let it out slowly, and then calmly rang the doorbell. As he heard it echo inside the house he winced. No going back now.

The door swung open and he was greeted with the sight of a ridiculous handsome man. Oh no say something cool. "Hey uh- hi I'm Connor." Wow. Great ******** start. "You knew that though ... from the e-mails ..."
He scratched the back of his head, stepping out of the doorway and letting the apartment do the talking for him (considering he'd done a fine job ******** it up thus far). "So ... yeah ... This is the living room and the kitchen's over there." He pointed to the various areas.
The fish were the most overtly out of place thing. "I uh ... hope you like fish. They're kind of my thing."

Adam wasn't sure if he found the awkwardness concerning or incredibly adorable. Maybe a mix of both? Cute but potentially disastrous.
He gave a small smile as he stepped into the house. He was glad to see that the kitchen was at least clean, and though it was obviously lived in the entire place wasn't that bad. However, there were a lot of fish. He bent over to peer into one of the tanks.
"I don't know much about them, but I don't mind them. Do you breed and sell them or just collect?" He made a face at a little silver fish and it paused in it's swimming for a second before darting behind a rock.b

Connor was nervous, to say the least, as the other guy inspected his house. It felt so personal. He'd lived on his own since moving out of his parents' house (save for a few nights crashed on couches here and there in between places), so to have someone looking over his place felt less like a potential roomate and more like a health inspector.
When Adam stepped closer to the fish tank, Connor's heart nearly stopped. It was truly a moment to test Adam's mettle, the most important moment in their meeting. "N-No, neither I guess? They're my frie- pets." This felt so weird. He looked away shyly and said, "I just really like fish- er, not like that-"
...
"Do you want to see the kitchen?"

Adam straightened up and lifted his hands placatingly. "I'm not judging. I was just curious. They're neat." He tried to give an encouraging smile. He almost felt bad that he was making this guy so uncomfortable.
He motioned for him to lead the way to the kitchen and followed behind him. The kitchen was filled with novelty fish things, from cutting boards to shakers, and he was pretty sure he shouldn't be surprised by that. "I gotta admit I don't cook much. I can make some mean mac and cheese and maybe not burn a steak, but that's about as impressive as it gets."
He paused for a second, bit his lip. "On the bright side, that also means I won't wreck your kitchen."

Connor nodded, sticking near Adam's side to watch his mannerisms. "I like cooking a lot. I can cook for you some time? I don't really care what I eat, but I like cooking for other people."
He began moving towards the back rooms, perhaps with a bit more confidence. "Um ... so the bedrooms are this way. That one's mine, and this one would be yours."

"I would love that," he gave a toothy smile. Anyone who was willing to feed him was okay in his book.
He followed Connor back to the rooms and his face lit up when he saw the space in his. "Oh this is awesome. Plenty of room for my keyboard!" He stepped fully into the room, doing a slow spin as he got lost in picturing how he could arrange his things. This was a lot better than he'd expected. It wasn't a master suite, but it was definitely workable.
