Hey guys! Sorry I haven't been around much. I hope you're all doing great, as well as your furry friends <3
I'm in need of some advice. For the past year or so, I've been in grad school while working part-time (9 to 5 for one day a week). Generally, I'd be at home during the day and away at nights. Starshine adjusted to that perfectly and is a very happy boy.
However, on Tuesday I start an internship where I'll be working 34 hours per week. From what I understand, that means I'll be working from 9am to 6pm (7:30am to 7:00pm including the commute), with one day off and the weekends.
Me and Starshine live with our mom and dad. My dad leaves at 9am typically and my mom comes home from work around 6pm, meaning Starshine will only truly be alone for about 9 hours.
I'm really worried that he won't be happy about this. I'm planning to go to the store today and buy him some new toys to keep him stimulated while he's alone, and I also plan to ensure he has access to a window. In addition, I've decided to wake up extra early at 5:30am to make sure he has two hours of attention before I leave.
In short, will my cat be okay while I'm gone for work? This will only be for a few months, until mid-August.
Thanks in advance!

It will be an adjustment, but he should be fine.
Regarding new toys, I really recommend puzzle stuff since they'll work his mind (aka: stave off boredom). You could also consider making him an obstacle course possibly. And of course window seats are great (can you possibly get a bird feeder out near the one he'll have access to? If so, that'll keep him amused too)
Also, one of Saphi-cat's favourite toys to bat around the house are Replacement Eggs for dogs' "Egg Babies" toys (she's been tearing around with the current one like mad off and on for the past few hours). She's not into bell toys though, which is fine by me because these are pretty quiet under her care; they go under the furniture way too easily though. Dog toys in general seem to hold a lot of appeal for her; she'll just randomly maul them and plays with them more than the dog does. Kong catnip-filled toys have also been a big hit with her and Kong seems to be her n** brand of preference
