For absolutely no reason Blight and her little brother Ghost had struck out alone across the land just to outright wander. They were becoming smothered at home and she couldn't stand the advances of a certain lovestruck stallion, so she left. It was a fairly warm day even thought spring had just started. She loved the sunlight and how it felt on her back as she walked for no reason. Ghost happily snoozed in between her wings and intermittently woke to ask if she had found anything interesting. The poor little guy had been through an absolute torment when she had become lost in the snowy mountains a few weeks back. Thankfully she had found her way down before the both froze to death but Ghost had been sleeping a lot since then to make up for what he didn't get those weeks. She reached back and nuzzled him gently trying not to wake him. Looking about herself she decided the beautiful lake she had found was a good stopping place. So she lowered her head to take a small drink of the cool crisp water.
LydaLynn Sorry for how long it took to get this started. Life has been hectic!

Rajiv had been escorting a wanderer down the mountain from the herd lands. Imnab, bored in the valley, had decided to acompany him. But the were both dusty and tired and thirsty. It was a ways yet to their valley home, but Rajiv was fairly certain there was a lake around here somewhere.
Sure ebough, there it is. Though the banks weren't empty. Rajiv takes a moment to look over the mare. Since she looks like a flutter and not a skinwalker and not anything he likely couldn't outfly even if he had to carry Imnab, Rajiv figures approaching is safe enough.
"Good day," he politely calls as he moves to the edge of the water. Rajiv was careful not to get too close, both to be sure he was protected and to keep from appearing threatening. A moment to refresh his mouth with some water was both needed and, hopefully, a show of trust.Wasteland Wyvern No problems, I know how life can get.

Blight was startled by the stallion who seemed to appear out of nowhere. She could have sworn that she was the only one around here, but to be honest it was nice to see someone else. She had begun to wonder if she hadn't wandered into the realm of the dead for how quiet everything had been. Shyly she answered, "Oh! Good day sir." She scooted a bit back so she didn't appear to be crowding him, her feathered fetlocks lifted slightly with the breeze that came from behind her.

Ghost could hear someone talking and then his sister answering so he opened one eye lazily and looked up from where he was sleeping to see a stallion. 'Oh perfect... Another male...' He thought. Ghost instinctively disliked males even if they weren't making advances on Blight. He only loved his sister. He uncurled and stretched lightly hearing his bones crack here and there, then preceded to climb up Blight's mane to get a good look at the newcomer. Ghost eyes were drawn though to the fox that this one had with him. 'That could be trouble...' His mother had been killed by a wild fox and he wasn't too fond of the breed, no matter how nice they acted.

Rajiv smiles at the mare, "And a good day to you as well. I'm sorry for interrupting, but I had a great thirst. I appreciate your accomidating me. I am Rajiv.". He gives a very slight bow, almost as if it is habitual. As he does the fox beside him mirrors the action but says nothing.
"My honor requires I give warning about the nearby woods. The trees are close, limiting flight, and a skinwalker has been known to hunt within it. Going around it may make a longer trip, but I do not recomend traveling it alone."
Rajiv had more than once escorted land bound travelers through the woods. Lucky the skinwalker didn't attack if out numbered. And since he could fly back, he has stayed fairly safe. But he didn't count on that.
Rajiv had been raised on the ideals of nobility and honor. And he had trained hard to be able to defend the weak and innocent. He hoped the mare would heed his warning. It had already been a long day. But he knew that if she went into the woods, he would be honor bound to accompany her. Though it was late. Maybe he should invite her to the safety of the herd lands for the night.
Realizing his thoughts were getting too far ahead of him, Rajiv waits to hear what she will say.

"Oh its no trouble, this is not my home to be honest. I am just traveling for a time to cure the wanderlust that struck." When he introduced himself she decided she should do the same, "My name is Blight and it is a pleasure to meet you Rajiv." Always the proper mare she was, manners before all else. She listened to his warning of the skinwalker and replied, "Ah so there is a skinwalker here? That could complicate things as I was planning to travel through that forest..." She furrowed her brow and pawed the ground for a moment trying to decide what to do. Maybe he could suggest a new route, "Would you happen to know a way one could go that wouldn't pass through the forest, but is still angled southbound?"

Ghost watched the fox mirror the action of the stallion and wondered why he mimicked him so closely but never spoke. Ghost would keep to watching the fox closely and trying to stay out of sight. He slowly climbed down Blight's mane and settled himself on her back again, curling up and pretending to sleep. His ears however were quite attuned to the stallion and his pet...

Rajiv sighs and shakes his head, "Not one that would not take you far out of your way. Unless you can swim the lake or fly well enough to go over the whole of the forest."
"My herd is to the north, in the mountains. You would be welcome to rest there, the day is already half gone and I do not recommend resting in those woods. I could escort you through in the morning, should you wish. Or, if your need is pressing, I can accompany you now.". Rajiv hopes she will rest, but leaves it up to the mare.
He mentally berates himself for thinking of her as the mare after she has given her name. Blight, Rajiv takes a moment to stick it in his memory. Though he wonders who would have given such a lovely mare a name like that.

"Though I do have wings, sadly they are not quite strong enough to fly over the forest directly, and I am hesitant to risk having to land in a skinwalker's forest out of necessity." His offer did come as a surprise. She'd heard of the kindness of strangers but had never directly lived it. "That would be very kind of you Rajiv, but are you sure I will not put you or your herd out with my sudden presence?" She was always worried that she would be unwelcome as a guest. Her appearance was odd for a Flutter, or so she'd been told, and her name was quite unique for a female.

Rajiv doesn't hesitate to shake his head. "Not at all. The herd is built upon the idea of service and chivalry. We strive to help however we can. This is a small service, but one happily extended. You may stay for as long as you need and when you leave I, or one of the other Rangers, can escort you through the forest."
Rajiv gives a reassuring smile, hoping Blight will accept the offer. The herd lands are still a bit of travel up the mountain. He would love to be there before dark, knowing the gatherers and nurturers will have good food waiting and that he will be able to rest there better than in unsecured lands. But he won't push Blight. She seems a bit hesitant and he wouldn't see her uncomfortable.Imnab, on the other hand, is less inclined to be understanding. "It's really nice. And there's lots of good food.". The fox gives a slightly toothy but encouraging smile. He had decided to try and train as a Ranger, familiars being encouaged to take on roles in the herd, but it had been a long day and he was ready to rest. Rajiv looks down at his friend, "Yes, there would be food from the garden and what the gatherers have collected. But it is our new friend Blight's decision.". He smiles back at Blight, "Please don't feel preasured. You would be welcome. But I would also be happy to escort you. It is your choice."

Blight listened at his description of his herd and how kind and welcoming it would be. She sure could use a rest having walked for weeks on end with no real destination. It was quite amusing to her when the fox that was with him stated impatiently that there was lots of good food. He sounded weary and ready for home. "I would be honored to accompany you back to your herd then Rajiv, and thank you kindly for the invitation." She smiled gratefully and waited for him to lead the way. She was never one for directions and her wanderlust tended to ignore the most basic of directions, going this way and that, wherever it fancied.
LydaLynn I am soo sorry for how long it took me to answer. I didn't realize there was a reply.

Rajiv gives a deep nod that is almost a bow. "You are most welcome. If there is anything you need as we travel, please let me know."
Turning her will start upon the path that leads up into the mountain. Imnab trots along ahead, happy to be headed back to the herd.

Blight smiled as he nodded at her, quite aware of his honorable ways. She'd met a few like him before but none that were quite his caliber. He was a rather handsome stallion and Blight couldn't help the blush the lightly colored her pale cheeks. Shaking her head she forced the thoughts away. He didn't seem the type that Ghost would get along with and she always thought of her little brother first. She followed him closely up the hill. Night would soon be upon them and with the idea of a Skinwalker's turf nearby, she too would prefer to be to his home before full dark.

When they started walking Ghost kept a close eye on the fox. He would never trust a creature like that, no matter how honorable he seemed. Foxes were cunning and in his mind evil. 'Oh gods big sister... Don't fall for this stallion!' Ghost thought to himself. Being as he had a fox with him Ghost didn't know that he could fend off the beast if he started playing pranks on his master.
LydaLynn Well I appreciate you not giving up on me. Rajiv is so handsome and Imnab is just the type to put Ghost in his place I think.
