The colt woke that morning with all the enthusiasm and excitement of one with big plans for the day, which was basically every day since he had his naming dream. After he'd stretched out his limbs, Regret Nothing began to search through his hideyhole for the dried fruit he saved from yesterday.
To the dismay of his and his stomach's (mostly his stomach), the fruit appeared to be missing. He stood stock-still for a few moments, until his brain finally registered, "Thief! There's been a thief in the den!"
He was bounding out of the den's mouth in pursuit, face set in a grimace of righteous indignation, forgetting the fact that he actually did not know who he was looking for.

It was with an easy and seamless stride that Not With a Bang fell into pace with the strange colt. She had set about the morning intent on stretching her legs and getting away from her mothers when she had heard the desperate cry. She wasn't much of a fighter, no. By no means at all. But a thinker?
That was where Bang really shone.
He was disgruntled. No, worse. In the little Bang could glean from his appearance, the colt had not discovered the thief's identity nor any clues to their whereabouts. Sighing heavily, Bang cleared her throat to try and capture the wild colt's attentions.
"Hey! You there!" She called, trying to raise her voice over the sounds of running and labored breathing. She just had to keep a calm head. Be reasonable. That would prove to help this poor boy, in the end.
"I need you to slow down so we can talk! I want to help you find your thief!"

Regret hadn't even noticed someone was keeping in time with his pace, but eventually he did. And by eventually it was about the time the filly actually spoke up and made her presence known. (But Regret was sure he would have realized on his own that she was there, eventually.)
"How did you know there was a thief?" he demanded, eyeing her suspiciously "How do I know you're not the thief, huh?" he snorted.
