Kano Eida

The Eida clan had been up and about even before sunrise as people were still scrambling while trying to set up for the feast they would be having once Haku from the Tetsuya clan arrived. Was he an honored guest? Yes. Why? Well Kano Eida, the only son (all his sisters are older than him) is finally getting married and it has been arranged by the leaders of both clans. Since Kano never fancied women and the Tetsuya clan didn't have any daughters...naturally they thought it would be best to hitch the two together. At first when Kano had found out about this news he had gone off to a mission and faked his death just to weasel his way out of it. Of course the next day he was found and brought back and got a scolding from her grandfather and his eldest sister would nearly ripped his hair off for causing such a stir.

Kano wasn't the type to really settle down after all but there was nothing he could do about it. He was always focused on mastering his ninjustu and it didn't take long for him to be the best in his clan and soon enough he lead most of the missions. In fact he would be going on a mission tomorrow and so he wouldn't have much time to be with his...fiance. Today would be the first time they would be meeting and it would be at least a week for them to see one another....that is if they don't end up making Kano take Haku with him. That wouldn't be to fun...

He was currently sitting in his room completely spaced out, his hair hanging down his shoulders in a tangled mess. Finally his servants came in and pulled him out of his trance. "Your bath is ready."

"Oh yes...thank you," He stood and headed off to bathe and after doing so he had his hair combed out and tied into a mid pony tail. At long last it was nearing the time for the arrival of Haku Tetsuya as well as some of the other Tetsuya family members.

Kano sat in front of the Eida home, the mats placed there for them (he and his grandfather and eldest sister) to sit. All there was to do now was wait.

Haku Tetsuya
A hiss of annoyance passed the red heads lips as two women fussed over him, one tugging at his hair as she took it out of the messy high ponytail he had fashioned it in- a permanent scowl on the womans features as she brushed through the still damp hair- he had put it up right after his bath and slipped away for a few hours....needless to say, his mother had scolded him harshly. Now he sat with his arms crossed while the other lady tried to coax him into changing into more fitting attire- a rather exquisite looking Yukata. But it didn't have the range of movement he wanted- nor did he like fancy clothing of any sorts.

Eventually the one woman had managed to comb out his fiery red locks which reached mid thigh, and he now wore a lovely silver and black Yukata with some sort of red flowers hand stitched into the embroidery. When they finished he was lead outside to a carriage that was awaiting him, his belongings stowed on top. "damn" He hissed under his breath, a slight scowl tugging at the surprisingly stunning male. He took after his mother with his bright crimson hair and thin frame. But that didn't make him any less formidable than the rest of his family- he was quick and skilled in the ways of the ninja- though nothing like a prodigy.

He climbed into the carriage silently and folded his hands on his lap, forest green eyes closing lightly as he bowed his head. It seemed this would be his fate- To marry into the Eida clan. It wasn't actually that long of a trip- perhaps half an hour at most? But when they arrived he felt his heart pick up pace and his breath catch in his throat. So- he turned nineteen and his family is eager to marry him off.... Well... It did allow for an alliance between two of the head families in the area. "nothing you can do now Haku.." He grumbled under his breath and let his scowl fade away to something more...well- blank, a calmness washing over him. His father had rode ahead on horseback, as well as one of his older brothers- and now they stood outside the doors of the carriage, opening it up for him.

"Come now- it's time" His father spoke strictly, his voice strong and confident though something in his eye simply told Haku that he didn't like seeing his youngest off to a new home all that much and Haku smiled gently at his father. "So it is" He breathed and stood, slipping out of the carriage with graceful ease that he had been taught to execute at all times. They approached the Eida clan's main house slowly, letting Haku brace himself as the three figures came into view- and only when they were a few steps away did they stop walking and bow.

"This is Haku, my youngest and the promised betrothed of Kano Eida." his father spoke, Haku remaining silent as they straightened out. Though Haku kept his gaze down- not really caring to get a look at the family he would be a part of now... He didn't like this even now.

Kano Eida

As soon as they finally arrived his grandfather stood along with his sister as he was the last to stand while they bowed back to the family. His sister smiled brightly and hopped down and went over to them, hugging them as she greeted them all personally. "We're so glad you all made it here safely. Kano and a couple other of our people made sure the path was secure around the time of dawn. We're just glad we didn't miss anything." She stood there smiling brightly as she obviously seemed peppy and outgoing.

His grandfather stepped down and shook Haku's fathers hand. "I apologize for my granddaughters actions. She doesn't like being formal as you can tell." He gave her a scolding glare as she smiled sheepishly and rubbed the back of her neck while apologizing.

"We are pleased that you have accepted, we had trouble with other clans in which Kano either declined or ran off his possible partners/brides. We're just happy he's finally given a chance and both our clans can form a strong alliance." He motioned for Kano to come over.

Doing so he bowed to the family as he offered them a charming and welcoming smile. He was simply going with the flow for now as they were all lead inside for the feast as they all sat down, being served with fine foods.

"I'm afraid that their marriage ceremony will have to wait for about a week, Kano has a mission and will be going on tomorrow. You are welcome to stay here with Haku or if you decide to head back home we assure you that we will take good care of your son." His grandfather smiled and gave an assuring nod while they all began to eat. Of course Kano and Haku were made to sit with one another. Kano sat there quietly as his stature made Haku seem rather small. He kept his gaze straight a head as he only spoke whenever someone spoke to him.

Haku Tetsuya

Haku nearly jumped when the girl came forward to greet him, his forest green eyes lifting finally to inspect the woman who seemed extremely eager about him and her brothers betrothal. He didn't like it. Finally his gaze moved to Kano as he approached...honestly that charming smile of his seemed so fake it hurt, and Haku had to keep himself from saying anything rude about it. He and his family followed the Eida's inside to join the feast, and Haku took a seat- almost reluctantly- next to Kano. 'lovely- he seems rather dull' he commented silently to himself.

"That is alright- we will leave Haku to you as it is imperative I return home. There are things to take care of now that Haku is here with you. " His father stated, though he seemed quite comfortable with this whole ordeal. Haku closed his eyes for a moment, before opening to stare blankly at the food before him. He managed to eat a small amount before he stopped eating, lifting a sleeve and turning his head slightly to hide a small yawn... honestly, he was bored to tears.

'this is boring' he complained silently- though his appetite remained lacking as his nerves danced- he was on edge. He didn't know the first thing about the man next to him- and that made him extremely uncomfortable. There was one thing he knew- Kano was known to be an extremely skilled Ninja and Haku had no chance against this man- not to mention the difference in their stature.

Kano Eida

And it finally arrived. The moment Haku was to sever his time with his family and say his goodbyes. The Eida family bowed and wished them a safe trip along with sending some of their men to go a head and make sure the path was safe. Now Haku was here alone. Kano turned to his grandfather, "I'll have to go and prepare my things for tomorrow. I'll also be sending word to you if I can get the medicine master to come to our village." He then whistled as a large brown dog rushed over to him as he smiled and patted his head and put something around the dogs leg and had him run off into the forest. He then stood and looked over at Haku who was standing there minding his own business.

"Follow me," he simply said while walking back into the house as he looked back to make sure Haku was following behind. After a couple turns into different halls he slid open a door and let Haku walk in first before walking in himself. "This is my room though I suppose in a weeks time it'll be yours as well. But while I'm gone you may stay here. If you need anything you can ask any of the servants or my sister. She's quite eager to get to know you actually."

Kano opened his closet as he pulled out a bag that had all his essential weaponry etc and left it by the door so he could take later on since he would be leaving around midnight. They had a full day to themselves but Kano wasn't one to laze about. Not minding that Haku was still in the room he went and took his clothing off (well not everything) as his torso was now in plain sight. Not only did he have muscles chiseling his body but he was decorated with many scars. He then put on his the clothing he typically wore for training. Once dressed he looked over to Haku again. "I'll be outside."

Turning, he left the room and walked out and he tended to train the younger boys and girls whenever he had time and now was a good time to pay them a visit and see how much progress they had made.

Haku Tetsuya

Haku said his farewells to his family, albeit he was very quiet with his words, probably just loud enough for his father and brother to hear him- since he wasn't particularly fond of goodbyes. He watched them leave before standing off to the side by himself, quite literally minding his own business until Kano approached him. He merely nodded when told to follow after Kano, though he wasn't happy to be doing so. He wanted to go home with his family- he didn't feel like he belonged here at all...but he had no choice..no say- in the matter. He stepped into the room without a word, letting his eyes roam for a moment before they found Kano again and followed the man as he spoke. He didn't reply- simply staying silent and nodding in response, moving his gaze away as Kano changed. Changing seemed like a very good idea at this point.... He hated this Yukata with a burning passion- it restricted his movement and was tight around his waist. He caught a glimpse of the mans body and his scars- before he pulled on the clothing he'd be wearing for training and stepped outside.

Once gone Haku wandered over to where his own bags had been put- digging through it until he found something else to wear [aka the outfit in the picture]. After struggling his way out of the Yukata and changing into his new outfit he found a hair tie and pulled his hair up into a ponytail again. Well, now that he was done playing the silent 'bride' he was free to wander was he not? and with that a slightly wolfish smile pulled at his lips. "Might as well adventure a bit" He purred- though he figured he should probably go see what his betrothed was doing and thus he wandered out of the room and outside- following the familiar sounds from a training session. He hummed under his breath as he strolled along, finally coming to a halt when he found he was close enough to the training bodies.

They were all rather young- and it seemed that Kano was their instructor... Which made sense- he was supposed to be good after all. "Interesting" He muttered to himself, wrapping his own arms around his waist as he leaned his weight on one leg and simply watched. The children seemed to like Kano- and though they seemed dedicated one seemed to catch sight of Haku and ran over, startling the red head a bit "I don't know you! Are you Kano's betrothed? Shouldn't you be a lady? or are you just a manly looking woman?" the child rambled on, leaving Haku somewhat bewildered before an amused bubble of laughter escaped from his lips "No, I'm a boy. But I am his betrothed." He stated, one brow raising slightly "Should I not be? I'd like to think I'm as good looking as any lady" He teased the young man who seemed to blush scarlet- nod, and run off to continue his training, leaving Haku highly amused.

Kano Eida

There were a couple young ladies there that were close to his age who were also there training and of course doing what they could to get Kano's attention. He moved on over to the tightrope as he watched as the younger ones went first. First it was the boys then the girls last. One particular girl decided to wobble about and purposely fall just to have Kano catch her, which he did easily. He placed her down and ignored her completely after telling her how to keep her balance etc. Needless to say she was shut down and left with a sad face while her friends tried to cheer her up and tell her not to give up.

After half an hour training was done and so after all the equipment was put away, one of the younger boys ran over to him and tugged at his pants a bit to get attention. "Kano-sama, there's an arrow way up there...I can't get it." He looked up to see an arrow up on the highest tree.

"What are the odds...who shot it up there? Never mind," He shook his head as he simply jumped up and grabbed the lowest branch. He then pulled himself up easily with his upper body strength and then jumped form branch to branch to get the arrow. They watched in awe and clapped when he jumped down, flipping in the air a bit just for a bit of wow factor for the kids. He handed the boy the arrow and rubbed his head, "There you go, be sure to put it away." He smiled softly, a genuine smile compared to the smile he had showed Haku.

Haku Tetsuya

Haku had at some point simply sat down, basking in the sunlight whilst they trained, the sun warming his skin until he felt slightly drowsy and quite comfortable. Honestly he paid no mind to the young ladies- he was his betrothed after all- it wasn't like things would just change in the blink of an eye- this was a arranged thing after all. 'so bored...' he complained silently, stretching his arms up above his head and arching his back in a cat like stretch before he hopped up and started to stroll away. He'd go find himself a quiet spot to train himself- after all his family had a very different way of fighting than the Eida's.

Haku's family moved more like dancers than most- movement fluid and graceful, and when he came across a pond which had a few stones that could prove as something like a walk way- if they were a bit larger. A large smile spread across his lips as he hopped across those stones to the middle of the pond, balancing with ease. "Perfect. Just like at home" He purred, before he began a series of slow movements, graceful and seemingly pointless. Until he began to move quicker- soon it would appear as if he was dancing across the stones, swooping up water with kicks, making the air seem to sparkle around him. To others it would look like a dance, to him it was a battle simulation in his mind- weaving between invisible enemies with feline grace.

Eventually he halted, his breathing unsteady but he still managed to make his way back to solid ground with ease, sitting cross legged at the edge of the pond feeling...well, refreshed. "Well, that at least, was fun."

Kano Eida

Kano had been aware that Haku was there watching the whole time and even noticed the male wonder off. Once all the equipment was put away and secure he headed off. He soon found himself up in a tree hidden behind the leaves so he was hidden from Haku and due to his stealth he had gone undetected. He merely watched as Haku did his own training. He had heard much about the way they had fought and if there was anything Kano was very good in, it was mimicking movements. However such fighting skills he could not master but mimic enough to use to his advantage. Of course he would never look as graceful and agile like that. Kano made any sort of fighting style look brutal and aggressive after all.

He then stood and spoke to get the males attention, "You shouldn't wonder out here on your own. The forest along our village isn't the safest. It's why we're working on the fencing you see our people building." He jumped down as he hand one hand on his hip and another lazily on the handle of his Katana.

"I think that it's about time for lunch. My sister hopes that you will join her in making lunch," He then turned and headed back. One thing Haku was expected to do was be some what of a wife and do cooking and cleaning but of course under the circumstances of him being male he did have the freedom of going on missions as well and training.

Haku Tetsuya

Haku didn't even flinch when he heard Kano's voice, tilting his head back slightly as the other male stood from where he had been hiding out- watching him no doubt. "I may be your betrothed- But I'm not a woman and I can take care of myself in a pinch. Thus- I think I'll go where I please" He stated simply, a calm but slightly cheeky smile playing on his lips - yes- he knew he was supposed to be polite...but this guys coldness simply brought out the brat in him. He stood from where he was sitting, brushing grass off of his pants as he turned, a sigh passing his lips. Right, he was supposed to take on wifely duties... Well, he had been raised to do such things- he knew how to cook and clean.... though he honestly hated the cleaning bit he didn't mind cooking at all.

"So you mean 'go help my sister as that's your job', No?" He mused, stretching once again before he started towards the main house again- a bored glimmer entering his eyes in an instant. "See ya when lunch is done then" He sighed- making his way to the kitchen where he was instantly chatted up by Kano's sister- and he forced himself to once again be polite. Once they had finished preparing lunch he excused himself- still not very hungry to say the least.

"If anyone is looking for me I'll be in Kano's room" He stated, not waiting for her to protest his leaving and skipping meals. He just wasn't hungry. Once he was safely tucked away in Kano's room he plopped down on the bed and grumbled something inaudible under his breath, before he curled into himself, glaring as the bed sheets with dull eyes. He wouldn't be needed until dinner- so he'd hide himself away for the day... He wasn't interested in making friends here after all...

Kano Eida

Haku's reply was rather amusing but Kano decided to not respond to it for now. He went back to his room while lunch was being prepared as he wrote a couple letters then left his room to have some of his men go deliver the letters. He then sat at lunch time, noticing Haku wasn't there. He ate quietly for a bit as his sister finally broke the silence.

"Kano can you try and stop with your cold hearted act? If you actually show the nice man you are you might have people like you!" She sighed and shook her head, "You're just like father..." She fell silent for a moment as the room suddenly got very quiet. No one really spoke about their parents. It's been five years now since they were killed.

Kano cleared his throat, "I heard you're leaving back to your home sister."

"Yeah that's right. My kids are bugging to have me come home...I'll return with my family for the marriage ceremony. Hopefully you learn something on your mission and you realize that you gotta start acting human." She stood and left the room as Kano sat there alone with his grandfather.

The old man coughed for a bit before drinking his tea. He's been ill for a while and the reason for getting Kano married so quickly was so that he could die in peace. Kano knew that too.

"Will you be alright until the medicine master comes?" Kano asked as he glanced over at his grandfather with a worried expression. It was true that it was rare to see him show genuine facial expressions but he couldn't help it.

The old man nodded and smiled weakly, "Yes yes i'll be fine. Just worry about coming back from the mission well. This is a rather important mission after all. Word has gone out that our village is being targeted by another strong clan. Be sure to find out if those rumors are true. If so then at least we will have the support of the Tetsuya clan once you two are wed."

"I know I know. It's the only reason I agreed to this marriage after all..." Kano sighed heavily and took a sip of his tea while finishing eating the meal which was actually very good.

"That is not the only reason why I had arranged this marriage!" His grandfather retorted as he slammed his hand against the table, getting Kano's attention. "I did so in hopes you would grow up. Maybe through this marriage you will learn to stop being so ungrateful and cold hearted." He then called in for his servant as the woman helped him up and leave the room, leaving Kano to sit there alone.

Before his grandfather left he did say, "I'm sorry grandfather, I didn't mean to upset you. Do get some rest." He sighed and sat there for a while going over the old mans words.

Haku Tetsuya

Haku found himself simply laying there for a while, until his hair being in a ponytail began to give him a head ache and he sat up right. "Annoying... and I'm not allowed to cut it" He grumbled as he pulled the tie from his hair and fiery locks fell loose, framing the males face gently. It was something he was known for- his red hair that seemed to shine brighter than any in his family- and his forest green eyes which stood out against the red locks- complimenting his pale skin- remarkably free of freckles despite the fact that he loved to bask in the sun often.

Once he had done that he sprawled out on his back and heaved a heavy sigh "It's probably rude of me to skip out on lunch..." He grumbled under his breath, before he flipped over on his side and curled up again- still not feeling particularly hungry.

Once again he flipped over onto his back and slowed his breathing so that it was a gentle, deep rhythm. he started singing softly under his breath, a song that wasn't in the local tongue- actually it wasn't in any spoken language- it was a song passed from his mothers side of the family- a lost language and this was the only song left that they could remember.

Kano Eida

Once he was done with his meal he stood up and went into the kitchen for a while. He finally came out and went straight to his room where he found Haku though he was unsure if he was awake or not. He looked down at the male, staring at him for a moment before placing something beside the pillow and then left. He headed out and continued to direct the men who were still working on the fort going around the village. He walked over to the gates as he looked to make sure they were functioning and sturdy.

"Master Kano we're just about done at the south side of the village. We'll come right away and help the others with the eastern and western side."

"There's no need, you and your men have worked hard since dawn, go on and get a good rest. Thank you for your hard work." He smiled softly as the man smiled and nodded as he headed off.

"Master Kano smiled at me...it was beautiful!" He said with tears streaming down his face as another smacked his head.

"Get a hold of yourself man. What did he say?"

"Hey! When Master Kano smiles at you, you appreciate it!" The others laughed as he did too. "Anyway he said that we can all get a good rest. So lets all go get something to eat. My wife can cook us up some of her famous dumplings."

"Her dumplings are fantastic! I still can't believe she married an ugly guy like you." They all laughed and rushed to his house.

"Hey! You ungrateful bastards!" He ran after them as they seemed happy nonetheless.

The thing Kano left was two rice balls for Haku as a small note read: "You should eat. This will be easy to keep down and return your appetite."

Haku Tetsuya

Haku had been awake when Kano came into the room- though he chose to stay curled up and pretended to be out cold. When he left Haku waited a few minutes before he cracked his eyes open and sat up slowly, looking over at the rice balls and the note. 'Suppose I should eat it if he brought it to me personally..' he contemplated silently, picking up one of the rice balls and taking a bite. They were good- and he figured that his sister had probably made it... After finishing the first one he took a bit more time to eat the second, still not feeling particularly hungry.

Slowly he slid off of the bed, wandering out of the room- his long fiery locks still hanging loose. He could hear the men laughing as they left the Eida clan grounds- everyone here seemed so chipper... It wasn't bad, but well.. No one but his family really treated Haku with the respect Kano was given... perhaps because he was raised to be a 'wife' instead of a husband and would never have a proper heir of himself.

He made his way outside, finding that the day was already cooling and that night probably wasn't far. But he wanted to go for a walk before it got dark- though he chose to stay a bit closer to the house this time. His red locks swayed gently in a slight breeze- which cooled his skin comfortably. He sang under his breath as he walked- not really paying mind to anyone around him as he went along- though a few of the younger children had stopped and stared at him as he walked on, whispering about how long his hair was or how pretty his voice sounded.

Eventually he stopped at the pond he had trained at earlier- crouching down in front of the water- his long hair draping on the ground around him. His deep green orbs stared back at him in his reflection, a slight frown tugging at his lips "a 'wife' huh...... Kinda sad" He muttered- knowing that he wasn't ever going to be the head of a house hold, or represent his clan... He was a bargaining peace...Not that he didn't understand it. Out of all his siblings he was surely the most feminine and had a pretty face- not to mention his slender build. Without a word he dropped one hand into the water and disrupted his own reflection, his brows furrowing as he looked away.

He could do so much more... He could be helpful, but instead he was apparently stuck here as a nice little house wife... and he doubted Kano would ever let him go on dangerous missions.... even though Haku had been on plenty of life threatening missions back with his clan- he had a feeling his life was about to drastically change.
