Myrllin let out a whoop, splashing through the wet sand and waves as they rose, his stout body clumsily dodging the water as he laughed. He'd been wandering for weeks, having finally left home to go on an adventure, and was growing bolder every day. A few days ago, he'd found the coastline... And at first, it had shocked him. He'd seen a lake before, sure; there was a massive one near the herdlands that he took a dip in sometimes. But the sea - it went on and on, stretching out so far and probably not even ending where it met the horizon. It also stretched out ahead of him for the same distance, as far as he could see. Once in a while, he would see a point up ahead, which he eventually went around as the coast curved. But that wasn't what had shocked him most.

It was the waves that had shocked him, and the smell of the air, which had a tang to it that he was far from used to. And the sand, too, that was different from the mud of the lake. Instead of staining him an ugly brown color when he got to playing in the water, the sand simple fell away, though it did tend to grate a bit against the skin. That was the only irritating part. Everything else - the crashing surf, the flying sand as he ran, the seaweed he tasted - it all made him feel free. It wasn't as though he hadn't been before, but... he just felt free. Inexplicably free. The wind flew in his mane and whipped his tail into tangles, caressed his feathers. His legs were soaked past the knees, turned a grayish color against the dark skin that hid beneath the white of his coat. His stomach was wet, too, from the spray of the water and the splashing he'd been doing, but he didn't care, no matter how much his skin twitched.

He was just having so much fun. It surprised him how much fun he was having.

The first few days after he left home had been scary; he'd spent a lot of the nights awake, terrified that something was going to get him without the protection and numbers of his family around. Family. That was what he missed the most. He wished his sister was here with him, splashing in the waves. Would they dampen the glow ever emanating from her wings? It was a strange thought. He couldn't imagine Firesong with plain orange feather, no longer luminescent. Her glow was a part of her as much as his magic was a part of him. Speaking of magic...

Myrllin called his winds, wondering what would happen if he sent a little dervish out into the water... But he didn't get that far. As his wings flapped, he heard a noise, a strange, almost rattle-like noise... And then there was sand everywhere. Losing his concentration, he closed his eyes, praying he wouldn't end up with sand in them. That had happened the first day, and he did not want to repeat the experience. But for some reason, when he lost his concentration, the sand stopped flying. Tentatively opening his eyes, Myrllin looked around. Whatever had cause the disruption was gone, and there was a circular depression in the ground next to him.

Oh. Of course. He'd called up a dervish in the sand of all places. Way to go, bud, he told himself, and gave his back and body a good once over. Indeed, he was encrusted with sand. With a groan, Myrllin shook his whole body, wings flopping feebly against his head and rump. The sand on his back came off, but the rest stubbornly stuck to his legs and stomach. It'll come off when it's dry, he told himself. It better. If nothing else, he could find a nice round rock, not sharp, to rub the sand off on.

But he could already feel himself beginning to itch.

It had been some time since he was out on the beach, trotting along the shoreline like no one's buisness with his wings slowly flapping up and down in a rather fluid motion. Often enough he would imagine himself flying like so many of his family members could, through the clouds and along the wind currents. Over mountains, rivers, plains...and the ocean. However, as elegant and amazing they looked in flight...he....not so much. Even if he could, he'd be puttering along with his butt in the air and well...that just wasn't a pretty thought.

"The clouds would laugh...the birds would howl like jackals..." The odd little usdia frowned as he talked to himself, looking up at the skies with his near aggravated sneer. "It wouldn't be nice to laugh...even if I could." Bohlale would just have to leave the flying to his larger brethren.

So, he continued, trotting along the beach till he noticed a little commotion up ahead. A gust of circular wind and sand later, there stood a colorful - albeit sandy stallion like himself! Rather...like himself, he concluded. He noticed similar giraffe like spots so many of his family wore; a tell tale spectrum of purple from warm to cold. Did he know him? It didn't seem like it...but maybe he did? Maybe he should? Tilting his own long hair which had been tied up and braided so meticulously to keep it in check; he almost missed the fact of the wings of white hidden along equally white hair.

His walk slowed as he approached, tilting his head as his wings fidgeted habitually....Boh wanted to blurt out the obvious things - Why do you look like me? Are we related? Where did you come from? Are you really real or just my imagination?

Perhaps the clouds put him up to this.

Yet, instead with the interest of the new teachings he'd received from his new family - Bohlale mustered up the highest of tact he could muster. "Hey. Hey you - mirror me. What's.....going on?" He smiled, lopsidedly, standing but a few feet away.

All in all, he was pleased with his tact....even though it wasn't very tactful.
