If there was ANYTHING in the world Yrre hated most right now it was bandages. They itched like hell, and were wholly in the way! Yeah, sure, they were protecting the stitches from the incident yesterday but.. They were STILL in the way! After the baowi had attacked him, Bae decided that he would keep EVERYTHING in the kitchen under lock and key. There was no way for him to go inside and bake anything at night, not with the supplies that used to be there. No, instead he had to go out and about harvesting things on his own..

Gleaning wasn't too bad; most of the farmers didn't mind seeing him scavenging after they had gathered most of their grain, as mortifying as that was. Handfuls of wheat and grain were often left behind, and that was easy enough to gather. But you couldn't really do that with fruit. No, to pick something too early, or too late would result in a nasty and bitter taste when it came to pastries. No, the fruit had to be just right.. And it wasn't easy picking fruit at night, you could never see what dangers could be lurking around in the orchards.. So he would have to risk going about during the daytime.

Which honestly, wasn't so bad either, not when he had all of his fingers. It hardly took him a moment to grab onto the top of the fence and bound right over them before, but now, now it sucked. His ring and middle fingers on his left hand had been reduced to nubs, weakening his grip and causing strain on the other fingers. What could have taken seconds took him a good twenty minutes to figure out, his bandages ripping in places and a little bit of blood began to drip forward from his already ragged fingers. But that was alright, Yrre simply wiped it on his robes and picked up his basket again.

Inside of the basket were the last of the bread he had baked, bits and pieces that had come together from the very little he was able to gather from his brother before he closed shop the other night. He was going to sell them after this, and maybe with some of the fruit he gathered from here, he could sell those too, keeping the others he stashed away for more baking tonight. Maybe he could even gather some extra for marmalade. People liked to eat that with bread, a combination would work well.

It didn't matter though, not when he stood behind the shortest tree he could find. The fruit looked ripe, the fruit looked sweet, but even now, it was too high. and he couldn't climb up it, just climbing the fence was hard! Maybe he should have brought a stick or something, to see if he could make them fall down on their own... Dammit!

It wasn't so much that Karayan had wanted to come home as much as he needed to come home. Everything that had happened on Serenia had stressed the young man out so much, making him want to go somewhere that he knew he could relax. As long as he was home, as long as he was near the water, he wouldn't be able to rest due to the overwhelming desire he had to continue the hunt for the Peisio Dragons. He really didn't feel as though he should be out there trying to make a species go extinct even if it were for a good cause. As such, after leaving a note behind for Madryn and Sueno about how to reach him, he'd headed for home via a long ship ride.

Once he arrived he did feel a bit better, after all he was surrounded by family that he could talk everything over with. They listened as he spoke of what happened, what he'd done, what he'd been unable to do, and his subsequent hunt for the dragons afterwards. They listened and they gave advice, a lot of which consisted of him taking some time for himself, resting up at home, and trying to take a step back to look at the situation more objectively. While he felt that they were right in what they were suggesting it didn't make it any easier. The guilt was still there but at least he was able to sleep at night now, that was a bonus.

At the present Karayan was doing a bit of meditating, at least that was what he'd claim that he was doing were anyone to happen by and notice him hanging out of the tall tree that he was in, his foot caught in the Y shaped notch of a large branch. It was a position he found himself in often by he wasn't too worried, he'd done this many times before, and now at least he had a way to get down easily enough when he felt the desire to do so. Instead he was relaxing at the moment, finding hanging there to be a bit like drifting.

Of course his relaxing came to a halt when he heard something scratching around on the opposite side of the fence that stood tall around their property. He blinked a couple times, turning his golden eyes in the direction of the sound and watched. He wondered what it was. Some sort of animal, perhaps? Something wanting to get at the fruit he bet, and there was quite a bit of it at the moment up in the trees he was in. Within arms reach of Karayan for instance were apples the size of his fist! He supposed it could be something more sinister though, a thief, perhaps? But surely thieves were more careful and quiet, right?

After a while of watching in rapt fascination the one making the noise finally revealed himself... or herself, hard to tell from here. Either way it was a little Dovaa, one who hadn't even picked his clan yet! So cute! What was he up to? The voice in the back of Karayan's head told him to 'keep quiet, keep an eye on him, and then strike it if seemed he was up to no good'. Instead Karayan waved a hand and called out, "Hello there! How's it going?" If an inner monologue could facepalm his probably would have.

Yrre had his back towards the one in the tree, not really bothering to look upwards while he worked. Why Should he? He hadn't really been expecting anyone to be around, so he thought he could let his guard down. Instead, he was bent over, looking around in the grass for a stick that might have been left behind. Whoever owned this orchard definitely took great care of it, because Yrre honestly found nothing. He growled a little to his own misfortune, wiping the blood from his hand onto his clothes once more. Something told him that his older brother would be pissed to see his clothes dirty again, but it was his fault anyway! If he had unlocked the supplies, he wouldn't HAVE to steal to make his own money.

Before he found anything else, he heard a voice, and immediately picked up a rock, ready to chuck it at whoever had called him out, and then make a run for it. But it seemed like the other was further than he could actually throw with this arm. And hanging upside down like some idiot in a tree. What was he trying to do? Meditate? Steal as well..? He certainly wasn't the old person who owned this orchard, that was for certain.

"What I'm doing is none of your business!" he called back, trying to keep himself from unknowingly hissing at the man who was so far away. No need to make people angry, he told himself. He was in no shape to fight, not like before. It truly figured that the very first time he wanted to do something like this, he was caught. Eeeh, he should have seen that coming, especially of how loud he had been trying to get up the wall in the first place. Instead of looking for a stick again, he picked up his basket, holding it to his chest. Not only were there rolls he had intended to sell in there.. There was also his last few copper coins in a pouch. If the guy wanted his money, he'd have to pry it from his cold dead hand and a half!

Karayan watched as the boy grabbed up a rock, looking as though he were ready to attack him when he greeted him. He blinked a couple times then gave a bit of a laugh when the kid finally looked up at him, something that made him smile a bit, "Yep! Up here." He said in a friendly manner, wondering what the kid was up to. He hadn't seen him around here before, he was most definitely not one of his cousins, so who was he? At least he thought he was a he? He couldn't really tell... should he ask? Probably not, that would only rile the kid up that much more, huh? He didn't seem all that pleased, not in the least bit, even going as far as to tell him that what he was doing was none of his business.

"Huh... well, I think it might be since you are in my yard." He said after a moment of thought, then gave a toothy sort of grin and said, "Your kinda hissy, huh? A bit like a Fekarat my Auntie has." A small, furry, angry, hissy, but in the end all cuddly... though why was it he felt that the kid would probably beat him senseless with that rock if he tried to cuddle him? Still, he felt as though he should give him a hug! He looked like he was in need of one... and maybe a bandage too. He kinda looked like he was bleeding, huh? Maybe he aught to bring him to his Gram to get checked out? Never a good thing to wander about bleeding, he could get an infection.

After giving a thoughtful sound he said, "You know, little Fekarat, you should probably get that hand looked at. You don't want to get it infected, that could land you with a fever and those suck." There was nothing worse since that meant laying around all day doing nothing and there was nothing else that he hated more... save for maybe Peisio dragons but that was neither here nor there.

What a jerk.. He didn't even bother to get down to talk to him.. Ah well, atleast if he stayed there, he was much less of a threat than if he were to approach. The most irritating thing about the guy so far was his smile. How dare he be so happy for no apparent reason. It was as if he was making fun of him! And then he went out and said it!

"A-ah Fekarat?! I am not hissy! I am a Dovaa, just like you, so don't you dare compare me to some.. some ANIMAL!" Through his anger, he ignored the fact that yes, his hand was bleeding again, and yes, he was supposed to save the bread in his basket for selling, but he reached inside, grabbing the hardest piece he could, and chucked it as hard as he could to the stupid guy dangling from the trees!

What did he know about what sucked?! A little blood was nothing compared to that night that actually caused him to lose his fingers!

Karayan couldn't help but to laugh as the kid seemed to puff up and start to hiss at him that much more, "I am not comparing you to 'some animal' I am comparing you to a small, adorable, but sometimes hissy little animal. You are just like them." He said, then gave him a long, thoughtful look before he said, "I wonder if that means that you like to be petted like they do too." It might make the little Dovaa stop growling so much and make him purr instead... which would be a mood that Kara would prefer. It would seem instead that he was far better at attracting those would would much rather strangle him then anything. First Madryn and now the little Fekarat down there.

Reaching toward the ground with his hand Kara made a couple motions with it before a section of earth rose up to meet him. Once it was where he could reach it he used it to help get himself untangled from the Y shaped notched in the tree, flipped over so that he was sitting on the pillar, and let it lower itself down almost to where it started. He'd sit for a moment, he'd been upside down so long that his head was spinning a bit meaning that if he stood up he'd likely face plant into the ground. That wouldn't be very dignified, there fore it was best to wait until he felt more steady to get up. Until then he'd just chat with the invading Fekarat some more.

"So! What are you up to anyway? Surely you shouldn't be jumping fences and threatening people with rocks when your hand is in such a condition." He said, finding that the sight of blood on someone so young was rather... distasteful, wasn't it? It just reminded him of what happened with Madryn. At least with this one the wound seemed a little more minor meaning that surely he could help with it? Even if he couldn't he knew someone who could, that being his Gram, so maybe if he could capture the Fekarat he'd be able to get him some medical attention? Given he was so small surely it wouldn't be too difficult... right?

"Petted?! You keep your hands to yourself!" Yrre hated the thought of anyone touching him! He was lucky enough to get through his life without being sold off to some whore house and with his innocence in tact, and that was with the mind to tell people to stay the hell away from him. And to be told that he would like being 'petted' it's just not right!

But he was strong, Yrre would give him that. And his technique.. That was so glorious.. He couldn't help but go wide eyed at that.. And he immediately felt jealous. He must have been a warrior or something, with as strong as he looked. There was no way that he could take him on. So for now, he'd behave. As long as that big jerk kept his distance.

"... I was getting fruit for making sweets. I can't afford to buy them, so I was going to pick a few. I doubt the owners of the orchard is going to miss five or six pieces, are they?"

Definitely a feral Fekarat he thought to himself, giving the kid a bit of a smile from where he was currently sitting. It seemed as though the other might very well attempt to beat with a rock were he actually to scoop him up for a hug but... really, it was hard to resist. What he felt he wanted to do most was just that, give him a hug. Just as with Madryn though he would resist lest he end up with a pair of hands wrapped around him neck in the attempt to strangle him. So what should he do then? He didn't want to touch him but at the same time he really felt that what he needed to do was bring the kid inside to get his wounds looked at. Gram would know what to do better then he did... his own magic was better for battle and one couldn't really battle someone's wounds better.

Such deep thoughts were instantly side tracked when there was mention of the making of sweets, something that Karayan approved of greatly. While he might not look it given his build he was only too happy to gulp down whatever treats that ended up laid out for the family during any given gathering. Gatherings that happened every weekend, every time there was something to celebrate, or when it was too rainy to go outside. Theirs was a group that would find whatever excuse possible for a party. So yeah, he was a fan of sweet treats, making him that much more interested in his prickly guest.

"I doubt Gram would mind giving you a basket to fill up with the stuff." He said, waving a hand at the various trees and vines that stood all around the backyard. Pushing up to his feet he said, "Alright, it's settled then! We will get your hand looked at then, once you're not bleeding all over the place, we will pick you some fruit, Fekarat!" He chirped happily, clapping his hands together as though he had come up with the most brilliant plan ever made by any Dovaa.

Wait.. Wait, did he say the owner wouldn't mind giving him stuff? Yrre was no fool, he understood the importance of setting relationships up where he could use people for his own interest. Yeah, sure, he hated charity and what not, and he wanted to make it on his own, but if he could get to the point where people would eventually give him what he wanted.. Then why not?

But gods knew that this weird guy was irritating as all hell! Maybe this Gram lady was irritated by him as well, and that's why he was outside all alone. No one wanted to be around him because he was so weird.

"I am NOT a fekarat! My name is Yrre! Call me that! YRRE." Would that big guy EVER get passed calling him a cat?! All the same, his hand needed to be fixed again, and if he were to get more fruit from it, then he wouldn't complain TOO much. Trying not to glare as scornfully as he had been, Yrre, moved closer to the weird man, waiting for him to lead the way to where the farm house was. Geesh.. The man looked so much smaller from fall away..

Kara sat where he was perched, watching as the boy in front of him seemed to be mulling it over. Good, good! At least he wasn't running away, he didn't really want to have to chase after him, certain that would only make things worse. It was better that the kid at least consider the offer of getting his hand looked at since it seemed to be a bit on the bloody side which couldn't be good. Had he in fact hurt his hand when he was climbing the fence? If so then would that make it their fault since it was their fence? It was really hard to say but he'd rather just make certain that the kid was alright before letting him wander off.

"Eh? Eh? Oh! Yrre, eh? That's a cute name!" He chirped happily before he lifted a hand up, patting it against his chest in a manner that caused the decorations in his horns to jingle, "My name is Karayan, but most people call me Kara! Well, expect for Madryn Col, he tends to call me 'Idiot' but it's not preferred nickname." He told the boy standing in front of him before he pushed up to his full height, letting the piece of earth that he was sitting on return to ground where he'd summoned it up from. Giving the boy a bright smile he said, "Alright! Let's get going, Gram is probably inside, so best to see if we can seek her out. There aren't as many people around today so it should be easier to most days."

Motioning to the little blond to follow he turned on his heel and started back toward the big, double doors that headed into the house, both of which stood wide open to let in the breeze as well as the sweet scent of flowers and fruit. It was a big, but welcoming place. Karayan paused just inside, wiping his ever bare feet off on the floor, before turning to look at Yrre, "If you could wipe your feet too? Gram always scolds me when I drag in a lot of dirt. Thanks." He said, grinning again, waiting for Yrre so that he wouldn't get lost.

Yrre's eyes narrowed again once more when he was called cute. He wasn't CUTE. He was a kid who was ready to fight! Always ready! Not very good at it, but ready nonetheless.

"Ooh, your nickname is Idiot? I think I like that one. Idiot. It seems to suit you." He couldn't help but tease the older man, after all, he had called him a fekarat first, so he should be able to chose a nickname for him. Sticking his tongue out at the man, he then waiting for Kara to lead on,

To his surprise the place he was lead to was rather nice, and smelled great! It didn't have that lingering smell of piss and trash that he was used to. Once asked to wipe his feet, he shook his head, and simply took off the shoes he had on his feet, and left them near the door.

"Well, if you were to wear shoes, you could just do that."
PostPosted: Sat May 31, 2014 6:54 pm

Karayan tilted his head to one side, then gave a bit of a pout, "Eesh, I am starting to think that maybe you and Madryn Col would get along rather well." He told Yrre, starring down at him for a moment, then said, "To be fair Fekarat suits you too, but I don't mind called you Yrre instead." Though he Yrre were to call him 'idiot' then he might very well be tempted to call him 'fekarat' to balance out the teasing circle to make it even on both sides.

Turning to look over at Yrre as he mentioned wearing shoes he shook his head rapidly and made a face at the idea, "Naw, I'd prefer dirty feet to dealing with shoes, they kind of mess up my powers you see. It's harder to feel as connected with the earth when bits of leather separate me from it." He explained, never having liked shoes and it was only after be became a Gaili that it really made sense as to why that were so. He was connected to the element quite strongly, it was why traveling to places like Eowyn and Aiskala were difficult to him. Those places required shoes after all for safety reason.

Once he'd gotten his feet rubbed clean on the carpet he headed inside, leading the way through the open area, down the long hall, and to where a boisterous gathering seemed to be located, "You can feel free to grab some food if you want, it's on the tables against the wall. I am gonna find Gram." He said, stepping into the room where Dovaa of various ages were gathered, looking around a moment, then headed inside calling out for his Gram.

"Well, seeing as I don't KNOW Madrie Cool, then I can't say. But aren't you supposed to be an adult? Why are you pouting? And darn straight you're going to call me Yrre. Otherwise that nick name Idiot would stick." Maybe he should tone it down a bit, but the more this guy talked, the more it grated on him. He wasn't a baby, he'd enjoy a bit of dignity, if possible! If anyone here was the kid, it was Karayan, with all his pouting and teasing and what not.

Perhaps a bit more respect was given to the man the more he spoke about his powers. It was pretty cool to think about, how he was able to summon the earth to bend to his will. He couldn't do anything like that. Probably would never get the chance to either. Just not enough time or money to be able to have that sort of dedication. Not that it mattered anyway. He was handicapped now. What was he good for other than baking?

After removing his shoes, he gave Karayan another slightly dirty look, following him, but his attention was immediately focused on the food that was on the table. And.. And he was allowed to EAT some! And not pay for it! It all looked so delicious, his little sweets and rolls in his basket.. Yes, they were amazing, but compared to dried meats.. Cheeses.. Things he hadn't had in a long long time.. What good were they? Good to sell, of course, but..

Carefully placing his basket to the side where they would not get mixed up with anything else, he began to grab a little bit of everything with his clean-non-bloodied hand. It tasted so amazing, and for that moment, he began to hate Karayan, and whoever this "Gran" was. Yes, they were nice enough to share with him, but.. He just hated the fact that they were able to have such things while he went to bed hungry some nights.. What was fair about that?!

Karayan was gone for a little while, off searching for his grandmother, then upon finding her and explaining the situation they were off to find one of his cousins who was of the Peisio clan. They needed a healer after all, someone that could see to the grumpy little Dovaa that Kara had found in the backyard. He had bloody wounds, wounds that needed to be tended to so that he wouldn't get an infection or something worse! Kara was worried about him, sure it was obvious that the kid didn't seem to like him, but it didn't mean that he should just leave him to his own devices. At least not until the hand was taken care of, it wasn't as though he could just keep him here, Yrre was most certainly not a pet to be coddled, that much was for certain. He'd take to that sort of affection the same way that Madryn would he bet, which would probably be with violence.

The trio of them arrived a short time later to find Yrre grazing on the food that was laid out on the table. It was something that had the older woman smiling a little, "It's good that you have an appetite, it means that your wounds haven't given you a fever." She said, taking a step forward before she knelt down in front of Yrre, "Hello there, little one, I am the Gram of this big lug here. He said that you are in need of a check up. Want to see about tending to your wounds here? Or would you prefer it to be somewhere more private? I know that if my grandson here sets to casting his healing magic that it might draw the attention of some of the other family."

Karayan gave Yrre a smile and said, "You don't have to worry about Johan here, he's really good at what he does, he's been a part of the Peisio Clan for a while now, a few years longer then I have been of the Gaili clan in fact!"

He nodded before his cousin gave a sighing sound, shaking his head before looking over at Yrre as well, "It shouldn't take long, I will just need to see your wounds. So long as we have some water nearby it should be easy enough to get you back in ship shape." He said, walking over to the table, picking up a clay jug that was sure to be full of water. With that on hand it would make it a lot easier to tend to the little, clanless Dovaa.

Grazing was putting it lightly when they found Yrre again. His face was that of a small animal, cheeks puffed out with an amount of food that seemed to imply he was afraid of being left with nothing in the end. The old grandma definitely startled when she spoke out, and he swallowed hard, coughing a little bit, and turning around to glare at her for scaring him like that. His glare relaxed significantly when the woman knelt down before him, and Yrre nodded for a moment, feeling a little safer than when he had been with Karayan alone. She seemed so nice, and so kind, and old. She wasn't going to hurt him. And neither was that healer. That weirdo.. Who knew about him, though.

"Uh.. sure.. We can move somewhere else. As long as you come too." Maybe with the old woman around, the idiot would be less likely to do something sketchy. Or this whole ordeal was just a big ruse to get his organs or something. Either way, the throbbing in his hand was becoming worse, and the blood had seeped straight through the bandages, so there was no real use in arguing over it. He held his hand up, showing it off, with the middle and ring finger completely removed, and a deep groove between the rest of his fingers. It almost looked like someone had scooped them away with a spoon.

"I'm from the.. Well, the only doctor who had looked at it was technically not a doctor.. She was just some seamstress who the people in my part of the city go to when they are hurt. She did her best to sew my hand close with thread but.. Yeah." Thread definitely snapped easy when it was so cheap.

"Just so you know, I can't pay. All I have are my rolls and sweets.. And I need to sell those to eat.. If you don't want to help, that's okay." He had to be nice, otherwise.. If he was nasty, maybe they wouldn't fix his hand. Yrre was old enough to realize that they couldn't give him new fingers, but atleast maybe they could make the pain go away. The sooner the pain left, the sooner he could go back to climbing and baking normally again.
