While buying the ice cream that she was bringing to Room 220 to make up for doing something she probably should not have in retrospect, Cami thought it was amusing. Amusing in the ironic sense because if she'd been expecting an ice cream date it would have been with Dylon who'd promised to come see her again but hadn't had the time. Instead she was doing the buying, taking it to Otto Graves, whomever that was (hadn't she seen his face before?) as a bit of an apology. Because "Sorry I made you think you had d**k centipedes" wasn't the kind of card Hallmark made yet.

Assholes.

Nonetheless two pints of chocolate cake batter ice cream were tucked into a plastic bag along with two spoons, toted up into the parts of the dorm she'd never entered before. Full hunters lived up here and, as yet, nobody she'd much gotten friendly with was a full Hunter. There was Bix but he was more of an 'admire from afar' sort of mentor rather than the 'invade their dorm room smiling' sort of guy.

Knocking, she called out quietly. "Otto Graves? It's Camille...er, Cami! Cami Ryland? I came with your ice cream!"

Otto had been stewing in nervous misery. He should have known better. He'd left himself open. But who knew it would have come to fear mongering over transmitted fake diseases? No matter how fake, the thought made him squirm.

So Ice Cream was likely only just going to make up for the terrible nightmare fuel.

So Cami actually showed up. Otto opened the door, looking the girl up and down. Good, she for real had ice cream. "M'still mad." He grumbled with an icy glare, letting the girl into his apartment.

The moment the door opened not even Otto's meanest, iciest, most evil grumpy-glare could make up for the potential of his dorm. Really 'dorm' was what Mimsy had allowed her to reside in. 'Hellhole' would be what she had going in the basement. This was a palace of wonder and beautifulness. Under her breath she muttered in Creole, a prayer of wonderment, pushing the bag of ice cream at the blond without a word in his direction.

Stepping past him into the living area her awe only grew more manifold. "I didn't even know something like this could exist on this island." Was she crying?! Perhaps. When you lived part-time in an old dungeon and the rest in a shrine to your sister-figure that still wasn't anything sizable or heavy on the decor, something that seemed almost normal? It was heaven.

At least she eventually remembered herself, shaking off some of the shock and admiration to turn back and smile sheepishly. "I realize, in retrospect, that 'd**k centipedes' are not realistic. But I panicked because....because of the titan in the Sahara. Bugs, fire, all that fun stuff. So I'm sorry and there's a whole pint of ice cream for you." Realizing he might have noticed there were two, she hastily added. "The other is for me."

Oh right. His dorm room was nicer than most. Otto found himself with a bag of ice cream shoved at him as Cami wandered in, awestruck. He'd been in the normal trainee dorms before. They weren't all that bad, but his room up here was definitely way cooler.

"Yeah, well. You live this long, you start getting a couple perks." Otto murmured, setting the ice cream down on the island counter.

She began to apologize, to which Otto stood with crossed arms in obstinate haughtiness. He huffed, taking out the two pints and sitting down at a bar stool. "Apology accepted, but if I lose more sleep over thsi, I swear to God..."

He cracked open a pint of ice cream, revelling in how amazing it was sure to taste.

Normally this was around when Cami would have flipped her hair dismissively at the idea of this paradise of wonder just being a normal 'perk' but she forgot, halfway through the motion, she had nothing to flip. Instead the slightly-curly bob around her face bounced once or twice before settling back against her cheeks. "This is going to help push a few of mine away. Dreaming of a nice big room that isn't dark all the time with weird noises? And a fridge?" Snagging her own ice cream it was nothing at all for her to make herself at home on one of the other stools, prying at the lid and feeding her craving.

Eyeing Otto she wondered if the grumpiness was habitual or if, maybe, she needed to lay the apology on a little thicker. Hedging her bets somewhat she smiled gamely and tried to reassure him further. "Just think about whatever it was that got you into this situation. That's a pretty positive thought, yeah?" Sex, for most people, usually was. Though...hm. "I definitely don't know everyone here on the island yet but I mean, was it that bad of an idea? Seems like everyone was more interested in slut-shaming your partner than anything else." Shoulders slumped. "I'm sorry I sorta joined in. Nobody should ever shame anyone else for their private sexual choices!"

Oh dear, she could feel the rant coming on. Camille was a massive believer in sexual freedom and, really, most freedoms. What two people consented to was their problem and not anyone else's unless it started being harmful! Like d**k centipedes. Subdued by her own train of thought she just shoveled in more ice cream and sighed. "People need more to do than sit around policing everyone else's sex lives." It was her main point.

"Yep, a fridge. And a Stereo." And a lot of things he'd made certain to get runic'd and set up. The only thing he didn't have was a computer. But he had his cell phone, so why would he need that?

Otto dug into the ice cream, his prickly personality mellowing out as chocolate and cake batter swirled him in ecstasy. Yes, everything would be okay. He had ice cream. That wasn't to say his ornery personality would ebb. That was just innate. He gave her a judgemental expression when she tried to cheer him up by reminding him of the act that started it all. "Positive... I dunno. It was more like...." Hate sex? That sounded bad... Pressured into it sounded bad too. He was the one who gave in to her temptress of the night allure. "Never mind. Let's just say we both walked away with a few scratches." Let's just go with positive.

Cami began to rant, but Otto actually stopped eating to listen. She was ranting like they all did on the island, but what she said actually made humane sense.

Wow. Woah. She was sane! A real life, reasonable sane person with fair morals existed on Deus. Otto wanted to keep this one around. "Wow... you're actually like..." He waved his spoon in a circle as he tried to find the words, "Reasonable."

"That's rare." He began eating again. "That's all they do for fun around here. Specially on Twitter. Policing each other, or barking at each other. It's the wall of shame."

Cami blinked a bit at Otto's reaction to her assertion that the sex with Maebe had been mutually enjoyable. He didn't seem to have enjoyed it which made her worry just a little bit more than she had about d**k centipedes -- being shamed for sex you didn't even enjoy was one of the worst things she'd ever encountered. Idly she also remembered that Maebe had been applying for support as well and, while at the time Camille had written it off as a joke, she still had replied in earnest. Maybe she ought to reach out to the other end of this equation as well?

That was something to ponder later, not now, so she turned her attention back to Otto and was utterly rewarded for it. Reasonable was a pretty high compliment as far as she was concerned though it wasn't one she heard often. Unreasonable was applied more often than not and, instead of her head, Kidana was agreeing with the redhead's self-assessment. < You can be reasonable if you want. You choose not to be. > Considering that this was a fairly smug statement from the revenant, her partner ignored it entirely.

Licking her spoon to prevent a mess when she set it down she blew out a breath at Otto's enthusiastic description of the island's drama potential. "Well then I'm doubly sorry I sorta added on to it. I've seen the nasty but I figured it was just because things were tense. If it's always like that..." She trailed off, mildly horrified, muttering another Creole prayer under her breath. "Well, that's sobering."

"S'alright. A lot of people seem to have uh... really strong opinions. Like, persistently shoving those opinions at each other strong." He added, helping himself to another spoonful of ice cream. He was properly sugared up, and more willing to talk and converse.

"I usually try to stay out of most stuff on Twitter for that reason. But.." He shrugged sheepishly. "I got strong opinions too sometimes." And he was nosier than he liked to admit, other times. That need to be a part of the scene, despite being afraid of it at the same time.

"Oh my God... this stuff is amazing.." he murmured as he helped himself to more of his pint.

Otto's enthusiasm only encouraged her to dig more into her own pint realizing belatedly that she could not take it with her. This was the first refrigerator outside the ones in the kitchens that Cami had seen; she wasn't entirely sure that if she left her unfinished pint behind it would be there when she came back. If she came back. Well, she wanted to come back but that was totally up to Otto.

Maybe she should start making a better impression.

Sighing she shoveled it in for a moment before adding her two cents once more. "Right? It's the best. Expensive though." The mention of strong opinions just made her groan slightly. "That's my whole problem. I have strong opinions but they're usually about leaving people alone about their choices. I mean. Is it really hurting anyone that you had sex with someone? I highly doubt it!" Of course she had no idea that Otto had recently lost someone he loved -- she might have been concerned all over again if she had. Or maybe she wouldn't have been. Camille was odd like that.

"I just can't ever keep my mouth shut when people start shaming. Why is shame even a thing?" It was rhetorical. Sort of.

"Yanno, sometimes they run their mouths and I start to actually feel bad." Otto mentioned as she complained about the public shaming. "Then I remember, no, they're all just full of s**t." He huffed and stabbed at his ice cream with a frown.

"You're ********' right. It ain't their business what other people do... or who other people do." He muttered, "They're like... them old lady gossipy housewives in supermarkets. Everything is always their business. Like if ya do somethin' they don't like, it'll ruin the friggn' town's sanctity."

"I hate that they make people feel like ya gotta defend yourself for your own ********' life choices." He lifted his blue gaze to meet Cami's, finally taking his attention away from the food. "Like, do people really get off on that s**t? It's a ********' power struggle. And some of these guys have some colossal God-Complex s**t goin' on. Like that Jan a*****e. Like his own s**t don't stink."

Glumly she met Otto's eyes and nodded. "That's how it works. For whatever reason they think what you're doing is wrong, who you're doing it with is wrong, how you're doing it is wrong. They don't understand that maybe you made that choice for a reason and it works for you. Or maybe it doesn't work for you but then that's basically kicking you when you're down which is the worst. Either way they're convinced they know what's best but if you look at their choices, they might be just as bad." Huffing she fluffed out her hair, fingers drumming impatiently on the counter. "But that's their problem. Their choices."

Reaching out for a moment she very lightly laid a hand on Otto's wrist. She didn't know how he felt about random touching but it was something built into her that she had to fight against, the need to touch to get her points across, to communicate feelings. "Don't let them make you feel ashamed though. Only you can understand why you do something or why you chose something. If it's not hurting them they have no reason to push their ideas or feelings onto you." It was something she told herself every day. Cami, unfortunately, cared a little too much about how people thought of her.

That didn't mean, however, she would sit idly by while someone tried to knock anyone down for what she considered healthy sexual activity! Prudes. Sitting back against the chair she sighed again, longer this time. "If they make you feel bad that means they made you feel something. It's power over you, like you said. Take the power back and laugh when they try it again." Her smile was encouraging. "You can do it!"

"And they make some pretty shitty choices themselves. But it ain't never my business." He was liking this girl more and more. Her ideals tended to mirror his own in a lot of ways. She was actually even more open minded than he was about a lot of things. But the bottom line was the same.

Otto's feelings on touching were all over the map. It really depended on the person. So far, Cami was green lighted, even if the sensation of someone making contact with his skin always startled him to some degree. He kept eye contact as she assured him he shouldn't allow himself to feel ashamed for his choice in bed partners. Heck, Maebe was a complicated issue to begin with.

Lucky for him, his pride often overshadowed any attempts to woo him away from his own decisions.

He managed a fleeting wry smile in response. Very fleeting. "Dunno if I'll laugh about it, but I won't let'em try and goad me into fitting to their stupid ideals." He murmured back, "Won't stop me from getting pissed though." He was just glad there was someone sane he could share this woe with. She didn't seem like someone to get herself into drama like so many others.

Fantastic. Cami had struggled through most of her life with giving in to pressure. That smile she plastered on when she was feeling agitated, anxious, really any emotion where a smile was generally inappropriate was a by-product of listening to everything her mother ever told her to do. A nasty rash in her freshman year of college was what she got for going home with any guy her incredibly inappropriate friends sent her way. At least now she was a little more careful about protection, a little more careful about her friends, a little more careful in general. At least, she was trying to be.

Deus seemed like a place where if you let yourself be carried along by peer pressure you might end up somewhere you didn't really want to be, doing things that you really didn't want to be doing. Otto seemed to be well-equipped to resist that sort of thing and, if nothing else, would be a fantastic help in putting Twitter disputes in magical perspective. He had the luxury of knowing most of them, having been her awhile, and might actually steer her in the right direction.

It never occurred to Cami that direction might be adverse with the several other people she was also taking direction from. She was very new at this, after all!

"Being pissed is a part of life but don't let it eatcha up. If you're ever really angry just shoot me a Tweet or a text. I'll come running with ice cream." Another bite made its way to her mouth. "Mm, well, maybe not ice cream this good but still. Ice cream."

Otto shrugged, playing with his food a little as he dug the spoon into the ice cream and drew circles. "Just having someone to b***h about Twitter with is pretty awesome on it's own." He concurred. "It'll be easier to deal with it knowing someone out there hasn't got their head jammed up their own a**."

With that lovely thought out, he ate a spoonful of ice cream.

"Don't eat that all at once. You'll give yourself a stomach ache." He scolded, pointing the spoon at her.

Surprisingly it was a lovely thought. It didn't take much to please Cami, thankfully, because she took the compliment in the spirit in which it was made, not the tone. Certainly Otto hadn't sounded all that excited but the redhead was more than willing to take what she could get. Being picky was for people who had the luxury or desire to be, neither of which the Antiguan had.

Her grin cracked a bit as Otto went against his own advice, nonetheless stabbing her spoon into the soft chocolate before sitting back. "Well I figured I'd need to eat it. If I put it downstairs in the big kitchen freezer someone is gonna take it. I could have some kind of incurable disease in that ice cream and someone would eat it." Probably because they couldn't get ill.

Stretching towards the ceiling she folded arms on the counter before laying her head on them, regarding Otto. "You'll help me unjam my a** if my head gets up there, right?"
