Everything looked fine on the Pridelands, as of far. Nothing seemed out of the usual, visitors seemed to not harbor any ill intentions, and the hyenas from the Elephant Graveyard kept to themselves. Letting out a content sigh, Erevu continued walking, rusty eyes focused on the surrounding area, ears alert for the slightest noise.
He couldn’t relax his guard just yet; the sun was still inching towards its maximum height, his shift far from over. Ignoring the scorching heat radiating onto his back, he made sure to remain cautious of his surroundings; he refused to be lax while on duty.

Ban was... Well, she was exhausted, if she was completely honest with herself. She and her brother had been travelling non-stop for days, but there were so many unwelcoming groups about that they had to just travel straight around them. She was tired of that, though! Perhaps these lands would be more welcoming. She didn't really understand how anyone could be so unfriendly! Why, just the other day a lion chased them off for coming too close.
It was quite frustrating, but she wanted somewhere to rest her bones. The lands they were approaching seemed plentiful and full of food and water. Perhaps she'd be able to catch something large enough to feel both her and her rapidly thinning brother. She gave a wide yawn and crossed the border into the lands, leaving her weak brother in a small thick of bushes not far from it.
Hopefully she would not be gone long.

A figure in the distance caught his eyes, shorter than most felines he’s seen. Suspicious and more cautious than usual, Erevu stopped in his patrolling, eyes focused. Was it a smaller species, ones that were usually found alone or with a feline? Or…
A growl rumbled through him without warning as the creature came closer, eyes narrowing. A hyena. Not able to resist snarling, he approached cautiously. Quickly, he tried to school his expression as much as he could. He couldn’t help his slight suspicion of hyenas. He knew there were plenty of hostile ones at the elephant graveyard; he could never be too cautious. Approaching, he stopped at a good distance. He had to think smart on this, keep his wits about; he couldn’t let his predisposition cloud his judgment. Friendly hyenas were allowed into the Pridelands and even allowed to reside as a member. Erevu reminded himself of this fact. ”What’s your business here?” he asked stoically, not unfriendly but definitely not friendly.

Ban wanted to snarl. Of course was a patrol along the border. Her old pack had not been without one either, but it was far more lax. She wanted desperately to snap back at the lion, anger bubbling close to the surface.
All she wanted was sleep and food - could he not see that. "Who wants to know," she snapped back, a silent snarl displaying on her maw for a second - her teeth clacked together painfully at the end of her question. It took her a moment to school her features, though she likely didn't do a great job.
She really only wanted to feed her brother the self-sacrificing fool. She, however, was hesitant to drop her guard even a little. She could feel the potential danger from these lands now that she was still along the border line. She would have noticed it earlier if she was not so desperate for food, she berated herself as she kept an eye on the tan-brown lion.

Erevu’s posture tensed even further. He should have no engaged. He should have immediately reported back about his finds. Or sent someone back. But the lion just couldn’t bring himself away, couldn’t leave the Hyena alone to do whatever she wishes. And so, muscles rigid, eyes narrowed and trained, lips curled into a snarl, he stood his ground. ”Me,” he spat back. Wasn’t it obvious? He was the one to ask.
With all his being, he wanted to turn the Hyena away, to deny her from entering into the Pridelands. But he had no reason. Not without reason. And he desperately wanted a reason. ”I’ll ask again; why are you here?” he asked harshly, not at all kind as he would have been to any other species. Not many were accepting of Hyenas. He was counted among that.
Seaki So, idea! After I wrap up rps in the Pridelands, I'm going to have Erevu venture out for a bit. Open his eyes. He'll be meeting my Hyena and gradually, his opinion on them will change. Not fully. He'd still be distrustful. But it wouldn't be a losing battle for him to start trusting individual hyenas. So, perhaps before he goes back to PL, he runs into Bran again? ovo
