Hijil listened to the Radaku as it left her, and she knew she couldn't allow it to go without challenge. The young Shifter she had been protecting was safe... Well, safe enough... now, but what of this other person? Or people? She had to at least go and look - she owed it to them, to the Radaku, and to the Radaku's dead master.

She stalked through the woods, following the occasional distant flash of its colorful, scarred, pelt in the fungal light. She heard its snarl as it pounced, and she charged forward as shouting began, a male Earthling by the sound of it.

She pounced herself when the Radaku was in view, hoping to tear it from its prey and bring it down. Her strong arms grappled it, and with a shove, she pushed it off of what was indeed an earthling man, with dark skin and orange crystals.

An Oban? she thought, briefly uncertain. What was she to do with an Oban?! Let them die? Capture them? Would they attack her?

But then the stray Radaku attacked her, its claws flashing in a spear of sunlight that had managed to pierce the canopy, and her attention was diverted from the Oban.

She kept her guard up, punching once- twice - thrice at it in rapid succession as she bounced on the elastic ground. It hissed as her blows hit home, before leaping at her, snapping.

She dodged, but it had been a trick: it turned in midair, lashed its tail, and bounded back to it's master.

Hijil could feel herself bleeding, but she would deal with it later. She looked for the Oban, but, from the marks in the mud, they had made their escape.
