Darkness, stars over head and not a cloud insight. Nor was the moon, it was the time of the new moon. It was that time that Frolick liked, as he traversed the world around the Moonlight Herd grounds, he refused to set hoof within its bounds. He scoffed at the young mare he had met so long ago when he passed close, too close, to the herd. These days, he found himself wandering its edges watching, watching mostly that mare, Peren. Keeping the glow to his horn to a dull glow, most times forcing it dark to not be seen, Frolick refused to be caught spying on something he had refused to accept.

This night he wandered close, closer than he had ever done, looking for that annoyingly bright mare. Not so bright in color, but she was pegged smarter then the average mare, but a little naiive. Weren't they all though... Shaking his head, Frolick continued around the boarder, hunting. Eyes narrowing some, he had yet to find Peren among the rest of the bodies below him. This was boring, he was getting bored, as it always seemed on his watches.

"Why do I bother with this?" Frolick muttered under his breath plowing through a bush. "Why do I even care for her, she's nothing to me." But yet, he found himself looking back towards the clearing where most the herd gathered, expectingly.

User Image Frantically Peren gathered all her wits to scent out her son, the most energetic of the bunch had tagged her and considered this a game. Personally she was freaking out internally with this certain foals level and head start she was dreading trying to catch up because well she knew he wasn't going to tire before her. It didn't help that she was Lyra, adorning no horn like her mates, or even children, she had no light and not even the moon to guide her!

Having foals had been a blessing but she was exhausted, it was hard work and though instincts helped in some parts it hadn't fully prepared her. Being bigger built than her small foal she was finding it difficult to dive in and out or even fit through some spaces he could, this was a nightmare! The Elders thoughts raced with worst case scenario's, she always used to be positive in every situation why was it becoming a mother she suddenly considered both sides of the coin. Even with the support of her family, her mate and her horde this particular foal was just too full of beans for anyone to keep up with, some even placed bets to when and if he slept, as a mother she worried but tried to think the best.

"Koray? Koray! Shall we play closer to home, please do not go to far.. sweetie mummie can't see you.."She trailed off and sniffed at the air as she kept pace. Warning signs where going up that they'd been at this chase for quite some time and his scent was getting fainter, he was gaining ahead and her fears where going crazy. It took everything within her to keep calm enough to follow, to not scream or even cry she was a composed female, and doing either would not help the situation.

User Image Laughter of the little foal where clearly audible to anyone close enough to hear them, unfortunately for his mother she wasn't. Koray was having a blast! Life was a game and as his siblings and father or even other foals of the herd where busy he'd set his sights on his own mother. Whilst usually he wouldn't pick her as a play mate he knew if he ran she'd follow, he was a cheeky chappy indeed but honestly Koray's way of thinking was never malicious. All he wanted was to play and he saw his mother as the only available mark, thus the chase ensued and he was having a blast!

In fact he was so focused on his game he didn't hear her call's, perhaps because he was too far, maybe because his laughter was so load or maybe because he was just paying too much attention in not getting caught. So much so he also had no idea he'd crossed herd territory not that the little foal had any idea what that was yet let alone where it was. There was also the purple male he hadn't spotted or scented before again he was too young to have any real experience with more than playing.

"Winning teehee!" Having no idea of the male he would either come close to or perhaps even bump into him, something would need to stop him from his unplanned and accidental escape.

Frustration itched at Frolick's coat as he turned away from the grounds of the Moonlight herd, she was probably out with someone. He snorted, tail flicking stiffly, his magenta colored eyes glowering through the darkness. Perhaps that was all he was going to live for, being in the darkness, seemed that way. Stomping a cream colored hoof to the ground, he was about to start pacing away as something rammed straight on into his side. With the air taken from his lungs and staggering to one side, he turned upon that of which had hit him.

With his horn coming to a full on glow, one that illuminated most the area before him, Frolick glared down towards the opposing body. Was this the thing that had slammed into him like a unsprung tree branch? It looked no more than a foal, a trouble maker for one thing.

"What in Gods name are you doing, running about as if a banshee were on you tail?" Frolick snapped in a scolding way, a hoof stomping against the ground. "Didn't your mother teach you any manners? Or is she the one who needs manners taught to her?"

He remained glaring at the foal, his horn acting like a beacon in the darkness. Its white light shown over the grasslands and streamed through the trees to a point. Anyone close by could see it from where they were clearly. Those blocked by trees might see a glow, if they were looking for something.

"Koray?!" She raised her voice a little more as she kept tracking, she could not hear his laughter indeed. Nor had he heard her call, or perhaps he'd chosen to ignore it, remembering back to her own siblings they occasionally did so. That was in the brief span they were all together of course, that particular time was short though she did remember it fondly. Scolding herself she reminded herself she needed full focus in the present to find her wayward foal, whether he meant to or not he was near to giving her a heart attack!

After making the collision Koray shook his head out, flicked his wings out and shook his body reorientating himself. Not surprisingly he wasn't on his feet as he thought but rather on the ground, blinking at some foliage before snapping back into reality. Getting to his feet swiftly Koray did a quick circle to either establish he was all working or just because he was a foal and sometimes foals just did things for fun. Then his attention fixed on the loud voice as he occasionally lost it and found his gaze following a stray insect attracted to the light of this big males horn. He too then found his attention flicking more at his horn than his words, missing most of what was being said.

It was shiny, and he was a sucker for shiny. His fathers was about the only thing that got him to pay mind to him long enough to notice there was food, or come be in the vague vicinity of the family gatherings. It was a trip they had devised that the foal was totally unaware off in case higher ups in the family happen to come along and want to see the 'royal foals'. Which was great then but for now he honestly missed all but the first bit of speech and he certainly paid no mind to the tone having never heard it before. One thing the foal was sheltered, he never had to fear anything and he was protected, he didn't even know what it felt like to be scared let alone that he probably should be!

"Whats a ban-she?" Koray kept staring at the males horn for a few more moments before making eye contact, managing to break his memorized state. Quite obviously unaffected by the situation, the stranger, or even the confrontation.

The fine fur along his spine had started to stand on end as the foal seemed more intent on staring at his horn than listening to what he was saying. With ears laying back against his skull, Frolick reared back to come crashing back down close to the foal in a threatening way. He really hated foals, hated kids of all sorts. They did things that pissed him off and made him glad this one wasn't his. Cause he would have killed it right here and now. Throwing his head to one side, he sort of threw the light from horn casting them into complete darkness.

A banshie, a wailing creature of the night that comes after rotten little foals who have no manners." Frolick snapped in the darkness, focused on the warm spot before him. "Stray too far from home and one might just sweep you off your hooves and eat your insides while you scream."

A nightmare-ish way of putting things when all they were, were spirits hunting for whatever they have lost. But he was going to make this small bundle of 'pain in his a**' run for home and never return. So Frolick just stood there in the darkness, awaiting for the foal to turn tail and run. To hear those bushes rustle in his haste to safety. There was no safe place out here, where even the wolves fought for a meal.

He just wanted to be alone!

Giving up her calls Peren put her focus on to just scenting him, she actually started to get stronger wafts, was he coming back her way or had he stopped? Either way she intended to end this game for tonight and calm her nerves by finding the no, her foal and returning both of them to the calming setting to where she was used to. She would hate to admit it but she couldn't keep up with him, not with two other siblings, again she corrected herself, three. Peren had adopted another slightly older foal and he too was one of her own even if he did keep to himself a lot more than her blood brood. Noir was still one of her own and had never and would never treat him differently, she appreciated the help of her mate but she considered it was time to enlist some more herd help in the form of nannies. At least those who where experienced enough to handle this exact kind of situation, maybe even warn the guardians to keep an eye on him, yes if, no when she found her foal, these where all precautions she put in place!

Watching the male doing a 'trick' he bounced on the spot enjoying the show for the time he was actually in the foals face and talking he managed to pay attention. He enjoyed the tale but without the knowledge of a lot of the words and so having no connection to what a lot of the bad things meant remained oblivious. As it went dark he began to look around sniffing at the air not out of fear but rather out of curiosity, realistically he knew why he had gone dark the pointy thing had stopped glowing like his fathers did. Still who knew why a foal did anything, it was a mystery maybe not even the Zodiacs themselves knew.

"My insides?" The foal questioned, pondering what he tasted like, maybe what he ate, berries, foliage, he liked the taste maybe so would the banshee! "Yummy, I bet I'd taste good." He giggled to himself even in the dark, he wasn't phased, he had no reason to be, what on earth could make this vulnerable foal realise he could be in danger?

This made a small, but dim, light bulb flicker on within Frolick's head. He refused to let others know how he really feeled about certain others. Plus this foal was so annoying that he couldn't help want to play more with it. In the end, he would probably drag it back to its home ground and leave it there.

"Why don't we just see about that?" Frolick commented on the whole 'being yummy' comment. "Why don't I just knock you over and give you a taste myself."

Forcing a very dim glow to his horn, Frolick stepped closer to the foal. Moving his head somewhat, he aimed to knock the colt over to expose his belly. If he was to succeed on this venture, Frolick would completely ignore his own threat to make a grab for the colt's tail and proceed to drag him back the way he had come.

An excited little squeal escaped from the foal as the light, however dim, returned, he liked magic and the tricks it could do! Again he was too distracted to catch everything being said but caught the bit about being knocked over and didn't move. To him it was another game plus some of the other foals mocked around saying that all the time. Even though he'd been told on a number of occasions that some Alcors did he hadn't listened, his only experience was having fun with other foals who just happened to also have wolf pelts.

Koray could run of course, but then he didn't know if the adult would follow and playmates where in short supply right now. So instead he flicked his wings out and took the knock with a giggle, even if he did let out a bit of an oof. Sometimes play got a bit rough, he was ok with that, made it more fun and there was always herbs to ease aches and pains after!

Frantically keeping on her foals scent she could smell him closer and closer, if it wasn't for the foliage that was so thick she would of liked to take to the skies to really push towards his location. Elated she was getting nearer yet worried that he had stopped, to her knowledge and experience this foal never stopped, even if he was on one spot he tended to do circles. Often as she watched him from the comforts of their little den she wondered had she been so energetic as a foal? Peren didn't think so.

Spotting a dim light flicker from the direction she was scenting she quickly pushed herself the last of the distance and into the scene of her foal on the floor and... that face, she knew that face! Why was he with her foal, and why was Koray on the ground. It didn't look good for the stallion she had previous met named Frolick as she glared at the sight of it all.

"Koray, get up and please do not run off again." Moving the short space she gave him a small inspection to ensure he wasn't hurt but didn't nudge him to his feet just yet. Peren had a feeling once he was up he'd be off again and she could use a small break before heading back. Making sure Koray was fine she turned her attention to the stallion. "Frolick?" She questioned just to be sure, it had been a while and quite a lot had happened in her life. It was also questioning his intentions, why was he here, and why was he with her foal.

Frolick seemed 'pleased' that the foal had been over turned, it was now he intended to grab a hold of the foal's tail and drag him back towards the herd grounds and release him there. But the sounds of hooves, heavier hooves of something large coming closer. Lifting his head up from where it had been, nostrils flaring as he caught the scent of someone familiar, Peren. Well damn, so much for not getting caught, he had this small whelp to thanks for that one. Snorting as Peren came into view, he in turn, turned away from them both in the effort to walk away from the situation.

"This whelp is yours, I take it?" Frolick said, turning his head someone to one side. A magenta colored eye watching Peren with the foal. "Peren." He only said in response to her question.

He knew that he had been away for a long time, rather he was closer than she would have thought. He just made it very hard for others to find him while he stood looking over the Moonlight Herd grounds. How many times he had left before he was actually caught by the boarder patrols? More than he could count or even think about. now the jig seemed to be up, he was caught with one of the herd foals, not by his choice.

"Good bye, Peren" Frolick muttered, head lowered as he loped towards the bushes, not looking to talk anymore to the pair. Really, he didn't even want to look at that foal again. It creeped him out, for some reason.
