[ Time: When she was still in infirmary ]

There was no reply on twitter, she put down her phone thinking she had scared the hunter away, let herself buried by the pillow.



"What am I doing?" She blobbed herself onto the bed, looking at the ceiling, she was slowly recovered but the bandages were still wrapping around her arms and neck, luckily not her face. Hair was so messy and jagged, dark circles under her eyes. There was no mirror but Robert did comment she looked like a cute little panda and shoved her a panda hat. She was happy with the gift but not the comment that meant she looked awful.

She closed her eyes so that she didn't notice the hunter did come. The morning call startled her, she noticed the the lovely cake but all she did was let out a short squeak and covered herself completely with the sheet.

"Thanks for coming!" There was a girl voice coming under the sheet vaguely. "A-And good morning to you too!" Apparently someone wasn't ready for the nice surprise.

She knew it's very impolite to hide herself like that, but she looked terrible and didn't want to scare him away. She looked so different from the profile photo on twitter, nope, she can't let anyone see that. "Nope, you didn't startle me. Thanks for coming, j-just I am not in a good condition and will scare you..." She said, voice tailed off and slowed down. Then, feeling the extra weight on her bed, she slowly put down the sheet a little bit, leaving just above her eyes to curiously peek at Dylon.

She only saw his profile picture, but she could see him fully. Black eyes and black hair... "Are you Asian too?" She asked in curiosity. There were rarely other asians on the island, kylee is one but she had yet to meet another one. "A cake!" She beamed with a shout, pulling the fabric down to her chest, reached for the cake. Then, like suddenly realized the bandages still on her arm and pulled the sheet up again. Hope he didn't see how bad she was.

"Thank you...I love cake." She smiled and then shook her head. "N-not really, the burns healed quick, it's now just stingy and itchy." The girl didn't want to say like a crybaby, honestly it still hurt, but the nightmares were what bothered her the most.

The feeling being burn alive was extreme bad, the blue flame that corroded her fleshes off. She felt herself being in an big oven and thought she would die. It was scary that she cried out and screamed to the last breathe but it was replaced by the horror seeing the bugs crawling out underneath her skin as if she was their habitat. That astounded and drove her nuts the most. She even passed out out of fear, too much to take.

Of course Shu cared her appearance a lot. To her, it was like a weapon that would make someone likes her, it was the most powerful and only she had got.....People surely like her face ignoring her height.

Another Asian! The trainee was happy to know that, he was giving some information, so as a good Death, she should return. "I am a Chinese, but not pure....one of my grandparents are foreigners, that's why my eye color is amber." The sheet was lower a bit. "That's so romantic!" Like all girls, she loves romantic stories too, and her sparkly eyes showed that without the need to say. In her culture, politeness was everything, the so called 禮. So when he gave her a hand, she tardily reached out and held some of his fingers instead of his whole hand and shook lightly. "I am -" She puased, thinking of what to say about her name. In her birthplace, the second and third word came together as the given name. Yet, on the island, people love to call her by her second word. So she guessed - "Shu will do, nice to meet you again." She smiled with a light blush.

To make him less worried, she lied. "I-It's fine! I am okay, the Life hunters are really nice." His words totally touched the girl. The tiny hand released from the hand shake turned to tug a little part of his clothes hem with fingers. She already said she won't let go easily and she proved it.

"It smells so good!" Her eyes revealed stared at the cake as if a cat looking at a delicious fish, it reminded her of the cakes she tasted before, made by Kostya.

He was the second one who called her a princess, the first one even gave her a tiara as a symbol of their new friendship. Thinking of another boy made her smiled, he didn't seem to be arranged near her, maybe another area - She giggled and asked with a jokey tone. "So you are my knight or prince?"

The cake was shoved to her and the urge to take it was too strong to resist. Considering one of her hands was tugged his clothes and she only got one hand to cover herself with the sheet, she wasn't sure what to do. "I-I don't need anything but maybe talk with me? I like to listen to stories or some funny experiences in your hunter life?" She suggested. "I hope you are not bored......" She felt guilty of keeping him there for her selfishness.

Finally she surrendered under the great aroma of the cake, she took it and said a thank you. "Thank you again for the gift." She then turned to lower her head and worked on the small cake. So concentrated.

After the first bite, she raised to comment of the cake. "Chocolate! It tastes like heaven!" It was a simple chocolate cake with cream filled inside, but her sweet appetite was satisfied after so many days without desserts. Then, she went back to work on the cake, like a bunny or little hamster.

He somehow reminded her of her younger brother especially when he told her to eat up, when she refused to eat a certain food, her brother would force her with a stern face even though he was very gentle and docile normally. She had got a prince already, why not a knight this time? "Will you protect me, my knight?" There was the answer to his charming grin.

Shu loved to being spoiled, her favourite was grouping people she met into either acquaintances, friends or family members. Among all, family being the most important. She looked at Dylon, thinking of which group he should be classified to.

With the cake in her hands and chewing, she bent and raised her knees so that she can rest her head on them when he began the story. "Jerry! I know him!" She exclaimed. "Oh sorry please continue." Her eyes were looking at the hunter with sparkles. It was exciting and thrilling at the first part. She didn't find it spooky after experiencing what Alice brought to them.

Imagining their adventure with his description like a movie entertained her, she occasionally commented with a small "oh!" or "awww". Her eyes widened, napping in wood at night would be so dangerous. She couldn't help but asked where he learned those survival skills, her eyes follows his waggling finger.

"Yay friends~" She cheered with two hands up, the cake was gone. Jerry was a nice guy who borrowed her his coat while Dylon was a nice guy who brought her cake, she was happy that the two made friends. The story was nice, and when it ended, she couldn't help herself and beamed with a "hooray". She looked at Dylon with a "OuO" face. "You are a good story teller, it's so interesting."

In other words, she asked for more subtly.

No more stories....

Shu pouted with the disappointment, she wanted more stories but it would be bad to ask for more, he had done enough for her as a person she just met not long. "You wanna hear some?" She blinked, hers was gonna be less interesting, but if he wanted to listen, she will tell him.

She was having bad fevers and nightmares that haunted her for the first few days in the hospital. Each part of her body hurt so much, she yelled whenever the life hunters want to exchange the bandages for her. She pushed them away and screamed like little girl, refused anyone to get near and saw her ugly wounds. Shu constantly shadowed by the thought that there were some bugs under her skin, she could feel the itch, as if something crawling. The revolting sensation drove her crazy and scratched her arms wrapped with bandages, until they bled again, she was comforted by the redness from her body, no black long insects. She was cleaned.

Hugs from Robert and Mimsy helped a lot to stabilize her condition, the tight warm hug made her temporarily forgot the awful memories. However, when she closed her eyes, no one can help. The trainee heard the creeping sound of the insects, she felt something on her neck and foots and the ugly faces of the millipedes dropped from above. She incessantly woke up with crazy cries and shoving things onto the floor, waking others up. Gradually, she didn't want to close her eyes and resulted in a fatigue. She could only sleep when she was fully exhausted.

The supplies in the infirmary was only at standard, she rather missed her own bed and soft pillow, and her little army of arpakasso. "I feel better with you here, my knight." She smiled with a soft giggle. "Um - the pillow is a bit - er- starved?" She didn't know how to describe the lack of volume in English, hers wasn't professional enough. Her little hand was clawing Dylon's clothes. "I kinda miss my cutie babies." She said, like a sad little young girl.

"I-I am not sleepy." She smiled. Although she still had nightmares sometimes, they were less frequent, life must go on no matter what you encounter. Shu waved her hand, "Nonono, your companion is already enough, I am so happy. What do you wanna listen? I have some for you to choose: a collective dream experience called Wonderland, meeting and farewell with ALICE and what I experienced in Sahara desert, the supposed titan clearance mission." She looked at Dylon, waiting for his answer while tilting her head left and right. Robert can't visit her all the time, he had more important duties, same as Mimsy, life hunters were busy until all the patients were out. She saw they ranting on twitter, but she understood, they were working long hours for them.

The new pillow was soft and with a good smell. "Thank you so much, it's so fluffy!" She beamed happily, rubbing her face against it in delight a while before putting it behind her. "It's perfect!"

"Yesu~ My cute little arpakasso! They are adorable little alpaca plushies! My first one was a birthday present from sisters and now I have an small army of them!" She grinned.
