Harland Leander Belle was at the gym. He was often at the gym, so that was really not terribly surprising. What was surprising, was that he wasn't working out. No, he was staring at a strange discolouration hidden in a corner of the gym, at the back, where just a little light was currently illuminating it.
It looked like tiny white-blue mushrooms in a patch of something dark. Harland was staring, faintly concerned. "Is it.. deadly? I've never seen anythin' like it," he muttered to himself, scratching at his facial hair idly.
Harland had a memory like an encyclopedia: nothing escaped him. He had never seen nor read of this, though honestly there wasn't enough information on the kinds of things the Hunters dealt with on a regular basis for Harland to have previously read anything about this problem. He flagged a stranger down.
"Pardon me, but have ye any notion of what this could be?" he asked, "Name's Harland Leander Belle." He tipped his hat in greeting. His accent was mostly Irish, but it had a weird twang to it: his obsession with cowboy movies, his Texan father and partial roots had scarred his accent long ago.

He had been extremely confused when he got flagged down; he had simply been walking around the gym like he had with every other building on this island. He got even more confused when the cowboy started speaking in a oddly Southern Irish accent (two separate accents, mind you, not the accent from the south of Ireland which if quizzed, he would probably had not known it at all, but never mind that.) The cowboy, no, Harland Leander Belle he supposed, had then pointed at some mushrooms in the corner of the gym.
Cress squatted down and looked at them. Why the f*** am I looking at these mushrooms? They are mushrooms, aren't they? He looked up at Harland. "Errr...name's Cress." He paused. "Aren't these just ummm...mushrooms?" He frowned and his brow furrowed, "You aren't thinking of eating them, are you? I know the cafeteria food isn't brilliant, but eating these could be pretty f***ing dangerous." He looked back down at the mushrooms. They did seem to be growing out of something sketchy. Maybe he could poke it with a stick.

Mostly, the southern parts were affectation. Just like he wasn't really a cowboy. Not even remotely. But he wouldn't likely admit that to anyone, ever, if he could help it. He had issues, though for someone who pretended to be a cowboy he was pretty chill.
"Cress, pleased t' meet ye," Harland said, smiling a little broader. He looked back at the mushrooms, his smile fading as his face blanched. "Do I look like I need to eat floor mushrooms?" Harland asked, a bit aghast.
The more he thought about what Cress had said, the more confused and uncomfortable he was around the other Hunter. Why was eating the random fungus the first thing the Hunter had thought of? Harland was just concerned it was dangerous or FEARbased or something. "I just hadnae seen it around before, an' it seems unwise t' just leave it here. Maybe fire...?" Harland suggested, rubbing the back of his neck.
Eat it? That's disgusting.

Cress cracked a grin. "Yeah, didn't think so. Just making sure, ya know?" He really had just blurted out the first thing that had come to mind, which wasn't exactly the best. But in the end, it was good that the other Hunter wasn't going to eat the sketchy mushroom things. He turned back to look at the things. He didn't particularly want to burn them because if it were to contain noxious gases or something, it might just explode.
"Fire wouldn't be ideal. Wouldn't want to cause an explosion by accident, would we?" He frowned slightly at the mushroom looking thing. "Think we can safely transport it to the Life Labs? I wouldn't mind taking a closer look at them there, could be useful research." Though for what, he didn't know. Suspicious mushrooms weren't his specialty, but if these were to be FEARbased or something, they could be useful to look into. Even if they did turn out to be explosive, they'll be interesting to add to the demolitions department. And if they could cultivate them...He was getting ahead of himself now.Face your demons Sorry fro the late reply!! o Ao;; Out of the country atm.

Harland tried to smile in response as Cress cracked a smile. He still couldn't help but feel the guy was really weird. "Fungus explodes?" Harland asked, a little surprised, rifling a hand through his own hair as he thought about all the things he didn't know. Fungus was one of them. He knew they were spores, he had figured that fire would eradicate them since they largely needed moisture and darkness to grow. However, if there was a chance they would turn into fungal bombs, naturally he'd find another way.
"Life labs? Yeah, I could help with that," Harland agreed. He didn't mind helping. So long as they weren't in his gym any more. "Maybe there're some masks for paintin' an' constructin' or such around we could use... an' some gloves?"
