Requests Sometimes, being average (even if you're a wizard) just isn't enough, and the only way to cure that? Is to be extraordinary! In order to do so, however, certain requests must be filled out. The table of contents will guide you through the process of how to request special traits for your characters. Table of Contents 01. Special Plot Requests 02. More than Average 03. Where to Post What When you Want to be That 04. Face-Claim 05. Wands 06. Pets

SPECIAL PLOT REQUEST GUIDE: How to know when to submit a request for a special plot We realize that no two plots are the same, but since we do not have enough time to review everything that goes on in the guild on a case by case basis, please review the following rules in deciding whether or not your plot is considered “special” and must be requested before being carried out. IF...- A character included in your plot will be seriously injured
- Your plot includes the death of any character in the guild
- The plot you have planned is long-term (it will take longer than a week of Durmstrang roleplay time to complete)
- Your plot includes 4 or more guild members or characters (including your own, and even if they all belong to you), and it is not a simple class, club, or team get-together
- You plan for your character to develop a serious illness
- You plan to have your character break a significant school rule (remember that your characters CAN earn detentions and lose house points for ANY rules broken)
- You plan to have your character acquire a special item, power, ability, etc...
- Your common sense tells you that the plot you have planned is something BIG
- When in doubt...SUBMIT A SPECIAL PLOT REQUEST!Examples of plots that DO require a special plot request: - Annie12, Bart34, and Carrie54 plan to have their characters sneak into the Forbidden Forest to begin practicing higher-level magic in order to protect themselves from one of their evil step-mothers during the following summer. On the other hand, IF...- Your plot is simple (NO death, injury, rule-breaking, etc...), includes 3 or fewer guild members or characters (including your own), and would be considered short-term (less than a week of Durmstrang roleplay time)
- Your plot is simple, you are the only guild member taking part in your plot, and it only includes 3 or fewer of your own characters
- Your plot consists of a simple get-together between members of a team, club, or class
- A minor school rule will be broken by your character (remember that your characters CAN earn detentions and lose house points for ANY rules broken)
- You plan on your character being sick (having a common illness) for a short period of time
- You are applying for a job in the Parliament, Takai Village, etc. (although a job application is required)A SPECIAL PLOT REQUEST IS NOT REQUIRED!Examples of plots that DO NOT require a special plot request: - Every guild member who has a character on the Musta Quidditch Team “throws a party” in the Musta Common Room after winning a quidditch match against Punainen (as long as nothing serious happens, and no damage takes place).
NOTE: If the crew finds that you are taking part in a special plot that will need a request, you will be asked to stop the plot in its tracks, submit a request, and wait for it to be accepted, so use your judgment when considering the severity of your unique plot. If you have any doubt about whether you need to send in a request for your plot, PM a crew member for their opinion, or simply submit a request just to be safe!
- - - - - CONTROVERSIAL TOPICS Pregnancies: If it's a completely normal pregnancy with no complications or otherwise physical/mental scar, it shouldn't need one. If a pregnancy does not require people to respond to it, then it does not need a plot request. If a character goes into labor in a place where there are three or more total people, then a plot request should be submitted. Weddings: Engagement would be on a case-by-case basis. If the engagement is super grand and requires many others to respond to it, then a plot request should be sent it. If it's just a simple, short "Will you marry me?" scene, it won't need a request. Weddings, however, is an organized event that will require a plot request since it does involve more than three people. If a wedding is not meant to be roleplayed out, no plot request is needed. High-end Plots: A high-end plot can be considered to be a plot that includes death, serious bodily and/or property damage, or one that involves action/suspense. High-end plots won't be limited, as long as it doesn't hinder those people who do not wish to participate in the plot. School rules: Rules each professor set up in their own classroom are considered minor rules. As for those rules listed in the Rules thread, it's a case-by-case basis. It depends on the intention and what effect it has on the character who is breaking the rules. Will it develop your character? Will something major happen (injury, death, mental or physical trauma, etc)? If yes, a plot request should be sent. Important rules going into the Forbidden Forest, flying without passing Flying class, swimming in the Lake, Apparating without school grounds, etc, all requires plot requests regardless of what happens during it. Use your better sense of judgement to determine whether something needs a request or not. But remember; When in doubt, send in a request! - - - - - More information will be added as the crew finds more things to address in the guide.

Acceptable More-Than Average AttributesAnd the requirements of them.We want Durmstrang to be unique. So, we are allowing that certain people get certain abilities. This is an entirely first come, first serve basis. Please understand that all of these require that you must be in your third year of being an owner (if a Takai Shop Owner) or be in your third year or higher (if a student) or in your third year of teaching (if a professor) unless stated otherwise. Those who have requested to become a More-Than-Average character and have not become one fully will have (P) by their MTA attribute. Please insure that there is a slot open for the requested MTA trait below before applying! In order to have an MTA attribute, you must: 1) Request the MTA attribute in your character's profile 2) Fill out this form.It is your responsibility to ensure that the list is accurate and up-to-date when it concerns your character(s). Here is the list of current MTA characters. (Ctrl + F to find a name) Descriptions and Requirements of MTAs Animagus An Animagus (pl. Animagi) is a witch or wizard who can morph him or herself into a specific animal at will. It is a learned, rather than hereditary, skill, unlike those of a Metamorphmagus. Availability Students 0/5 Professor 0/3 Store Owner 0/4 Other 0/61) Must learn their ability 2) Cannot attack students 3) Must not transform during class time 4) Must be a third year or older/third year of teaching to begin practicing 5) Must become registered by the Ministry of Magic. 6) Must say in their profile that you are learning to be an AnimagusHalf Breed Half-breed (or Beast) is a term given to humans with at least one non-human parent, although those with more distant non-human ancestry are also referred to as half-breed. This can be many different breeds and can have lots of different side effects due to magic in the mixing bloodlines. "Half-breed" may be an offensive, rather than proper, term, as it seems to appear as an insult. There is a great deal of prejudice against half-breeds in the wizarding world, which also tends to discriminate against non-human beings in general. Availability Students 0/5 Professor 0/3 Store Owner 0/4 Other 0/6 1) Can be many different creatures. Some examples are Giants, Vampires, Veelas, Goblins, and Trolls. 2) Creatures that are turned such as werewolves do not pass the trait to their child, therefore can not be born as such. 3) Half-breeds share the attributes of both their parents, still being able to use magic, as the magic gene is dominant, while having traits of their non-human parent as well. 4) It is also unknown for how many generations non-human traits will persist, although it seems that wizards and witches with even one non-human great-grandparent will retain some of those characteristics. For example, Filius Flitwick is only one-eighth goblin, but retains a small stature as a result of this heritage. 5) It is unknown if Muggles can interbreed with non-humans and, if they can, this would probably result in non-magical half-breeds. Though it is very rare for a Muggle to even find out about the existence of those creatures, the existence of a non-magical half-breed is potentially possible but unlikely. Legilimens Legilimency is the act of magically navigating through the many layers of a person's mind and correctly interpreting one's findings. A person who practises this art is known as a Legilimens. Laymen sometimes refer to Legilimency as "mind-reading," but practitioners disdain this term as naive. Availability Students 0/5 Professor 0/3 Store Owner 0/4 Other 0/61) Must learn their ability 2) Cannot be used to cheat on tests 3) Can only enter the mind of another with permission (PMs, OOC, or chat) 4) Can scan an area and look for the minds of others (as long as there is no mind entering, PMs and such are not necessary) 5) Must become registered by the Ministry of Magic 6) Must put in a request to the Headmistress 7) Must be a third year to begin practicing (if accepted) 8 ) Headmistress can deny anyone she/he chooses 9) Very difficult to master 10) There is a small chance you will be allowed to learn this skill, if at allMetamorphmagus A Metamorphmagus (pl. Metamorphmagi) is a witch or wizard with the ability to change his or her physical appearance at will, rather than requiring Polyjuice Potion or a spell like the rest of the wizarding population. They are extremely rare. Availability Students 0/4 Professor 0/2 Store Owner 0/3 Other 0/61) Must be born with this ability 2) Cannot impersonate professors or Hogwarts staff 3) May change in to any living creature or change any feature of themselves at will 4) Must become registered by the Ministry of Magic. 5) Emotions may alter appearancesOcclumens Occlumency is the act of magically closing one's mind against Legilimency. It can prevent a Legilimens from accessing one's thoughts and feelings, or influencing them. A person who practises this art is known as an Occlumens. Availability Students 0/5 Professor 0/3 Store Owner 0/4 Other 0/61) Must learn their ability 2) Cannot be used to cheat on tests 3) Can only enter the mind of another with permission (PMs, OOC, or chat) 4) Can scan an area and look for the minds of others (as long as there is no mind entering, PMs and such are not necessary) 5) Must become registered by the Ministry of Magic 6) Must put in a request to the Headmistress 7) Must be a third year to begin practicing (if accepted) 8 ) Headmistress can deny anyone she/he chooses 9) Very difficult to master 10) There is a small chance you will be allowed to learn this skill, if at allParselmouth Parseltongue is the language of serpents (as well as other magical serpent-based creatures, like the Runespoor) and those who can converse with them. An individual who can speak Parseltongue is known as a Parselmouth. It is a very uncommon skill, and is more common to be hereditary. Availability Students 0/5 Professor 0/3 Store Owner 0/4 Other 0/61) Must be hereditary 2) If you are not hereditarily one, you can learn how to understand, but you cannot speak it 3) Bad reputation 4) Mostly hisses when they speak in ParseltongueQuidditch Experience A student that has Quidditch Experience has had training by relatives, coaches, etc. before attending Hogwarts. These students are ones that wish to play Quidditch professionally or just want to play it during their time at Hogwarts. Availability Students 0/5 1) Must want to play Quidditch at school, otherwise you cannot apply 2) Must have been trained before coming to Hogwarts 3) Must be in the guild for a full guild year before applying 4) Is only open to Half-bloods or Purebloods 5) Is only for students 6) Get a +1 to their years playing Quidditch 7) Benefit disappears after they leave HogwartsSeer A Seer is a gifted wizard or witch who has the ability to see into the future with their Inner Eye. Seers predict prophecies, which are then recorded and stored in the Hall of Prophecy in the Ministry of Magic's Department of Mysteries. According to Minerva McGonagall, true Seers are extremely rare. Availability Students 0/5 Professor 0/3 Store Owner 0/4 Other 0/61) Everyone has this ability, but Seers have it more 2) Prophecies can happen at the oddest times 3) With practice, a Seer can summon predictions when needed 4) Must be hereditary 5) Fake seers are common 6) Must become registered by the Ministry of Magic.Twins A twin is one of two offspring produced in the same pregnancy. Twins can either be monozygotic ("identical"), meaning that they develop from one zygote that splits and forms two embryos, or dizygotic ("fraternal") because they develop from two separate eggs that are fertilized by two separate sperm. Availability Students 0/6 pairs Professor 0/3 pairs Store Owner 0/4 pairs Other 0/8 pairs 1) This includes any gender match up. (boy, girl; girl, girl; boy, boy) 2) Both identical and fraternal must apply for it. 3) You must role-play out both character and post both fully. 4) Must be in the guild for a full guild year before applying.Vampire A magical being that is known for biting people on the neck and sucking their blood. They are usually pale and gaunt, with sharp teeth for puncturing the neck. They have an aversion to garlic and can be kept at bay by its presence. Availability Students 0/5 Professor 0/3 Store Owner 0/4 Other 0/6More information can be found here. Werewolf A human who, upon the rising of the full moon, turns into a fearsome near-wolf. Werewolves can be distinguished from regular wolves by the pupils of the eyes, snout shape, and tufted tail. At all other times, they appear as normal humans, though will often seem to be ill as the full moon approaches. I Stole Your Face! Haha! (Face-Claim List)
Because we all know that Peeves would say that. Anyway, as requested by Sailor Tralfamadore, we now have a "face-claim list".
What is this "face-claim list"? Well, it's a place where everyone requests which famous person they're using as their character's face. Doing this will keep people from using the same famous person twice/having two characters look the same.
Some rules on the Face-Claim: + Characters must be accepted/pending before they can be added to the list! If they are not, then they will not be updated onto the list until then. + There may not be two celebrity/famous people's faces shared unless they are twins. + This is entirely first come, first serve. + If a member has quit/deleted for inactivity, they have until the next in-guild summer to return and reclaim their face. Otherwise, their face reservation will be deleted. + If a member has returned and finds that their face has been reclaimed by someone else--then they'll have to pick a new face. + You may not have more than 30 face-claims (that's 30 characters!)
Here is the current list of faces taken. (Ctrl + F to find a name) To request a celebrity/famous person's face for your character, please fill out this form.To remove your character from the list, please fill out this form. ▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄

Acceptable Wand Woods and CoresIn the guild, there has been much debate over what kinds of woods and cores should be acceptable for wands. In the Durmstrang Institute Roleplay Guild, we always try to aim for being as close to the world as J.K. Rowling envisioned it as, but, when it comes to certain things, the world she imagined just didn't have enough detail.
Especially about wands.
Wand woods and cores are very limited if we base them strictly on what was mentioned in the book. So, I offer to you, the member of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry Roleplay Guild, a list of both woods and cores that we accept.
If there is a wood missing, or a core missing that you would like to add to the list, feel free to request it by going here.
This list is subject to change. Everyone, including VC's, must fill out the following form if you want anything on the red list. Every now and again, red will be closed to accepting. Uncommon and below is open to everyone. Below that you will find a link to the current list of users and characters who have received permission to have those wand woods or cores.
Color codes: Rare (we'll only let one person take this. Maybe even nobody. Permission from both VixenViVi required.) Uncommon and Below (there are no limitations)Red Acceptance Status Open Request your wand wood/core here
Currently accepted character wand woods/cores: [x] (Ctrl + F to find a name)
To remove a character, please fill out this form. Decisions, DecisionsPicking out a wand core and wood may not be as easy as you think! There are many factors you can base the decisions on.
For example, you might have to research the meanings behind each wood to figure out which is best suited to your character's personality. Or base it on their birthday. You could look up which magical creature best relates to your character and pick the core that way. There are endless possibilities.
Normally, wands are between 7 inches and 16 inches, but there are some cases in which those measurements may be smaller or larger.
Here are some websites to check out for ideas:(Thanks to Marguerite_Wheelwright for these!)Beyond Hogwarts -Talks about which wood correlates with birthday. Also talks a bit about cores, wand length, and the use of wands.
The Properties of Woods -Talks about the symbolism behind certain woods.
Woods and Cores - More about the properties of wand woods and cores.
Harry Potter Wandlore- Talks about what certain woods and cores are good for, as well as what size, shape and texture have to do with the wand and owner.
Wand Lore- More on wand woods and cores.
