Private RP between Novablu's Van and Nuclearity's Charlotte

User Image User Image

Setting: Near the ocean
Time: Night, under a clear sky
Season: Spring
PostPosted: Fri May 16, 2014 8:16 pm

The night was clear and bright, a sliver-slice of moon hanging slender in the inked sky. The stars shone overhead, a speckle of stardust that the brightly-colored arrow stallion followed like a beacon. Head held high, he strode through the night like a shadow, edging along the line of a tapering forest as it thinned out and Van slowed, ears pricking forwards. He took a breath in, the smell of salt-tinged air filling his lungs, and a smile crept across his face. It was...a wistful sort of smile at the corners.

He knew this place. He'd spent many a nights here with a certain mare. A mare who'd moved on past all of this--past him, always past him--and though the pain had all but faded, the memories imprinted on his mind were a low longing, a yearn for the affections of mare-kind.

Van wasn't particularly handsome--more like...unique looking--but he was far from a hideous beast and yet, always scared the girls off. He huffed out a sigh, glancing upwards to the sky before dropping his head again and stepping out into the sand. The soft grains packed beneath cloven hooves as he made his way out to the ocean.

The waves soon lapped at his ankles, soothing, and this time his smile was clearer. That was then, this was now--time to move on, because who knew what the future would bring. He would have to wait and see.

Wisps of charcoal mane and tail danced in the wind playfully behind a galloping mare, her vibrant green eyes darting about. Charlotte was always searching, scanning the environment, calculating and computing happenings with consequences. Nothing was slipping this mare's radar, no sir!

She came to a sudden halt as a tiny noise disturbed her - 'Leaves rustling? On a quiet night like this with no breeze to be spoken ov?' Something was up.. Face scrunching up, eyes squinting to peer through the comfortable blanket of night that wrapped around her, Charlie advanced towards the forest that she was trotting beside in delight just moments ago. But moments-ago-Charlotte was far different from battle-mode-Charlotte. Her entire body instinctively tensed up, muscles at the ready to "pounce or bounce" based on the circumstance. And... A bat shrieked, piercing the quiet as it darted from tree to tree along the skirt of the forest.

Charlie gave off a sigh, and a boyish smirk tugged at the corners of her mouth. 'Gotta be ready for anything,' she mused, picking her steady trot back up, which soon left her treading sand. She was approaching it now, the destination of her exercise: a small cliff with a breathtaking lookout to the sea. Since she'd discovered it the sun prior, on only her second sun camping out at this location, she had vowed to come back every night to savor the scenery in secret. Charlotte was far from a romantic, but she loved nature; It spoke to her, warned her when danger was coming her way in the scattering and cracking of tree branches, or the artificial ripples upon a pond's surface. 'Beautiful....'

'...And all alone...'

((Sorry this took me sooo long :0)

Van wasn't aware of the mare as dark as midnight heading his way in a hurry--as she was just as oblivious to him. There was no reason for their paths to cross, no reason for them to ever see eye to eye...unless it happened to be Fate. What a fickle word Fate was, and more fickle was the fact that Van believed wholeheartedly in it. He knew, without a shadow of a doubt, that his destiny would bring about the perfect mate, the perfect lady for his wandering ways.

Just...sometimes it seemed to take awhile.

Van heard the bat shrill in the night, soaring somewhere in the black sky above, no doubt catching a meal of mosquitoes and gnats, and the thought made him grin. He was getting hungry himself--he had a voracious appetite usually and tonight was no different, but he was in the mood for something salty. Hence the beach. Anansi had introduced him to the salty longgrasses and daaaamn.

He paused, a sound filtering through his ears, and his hooves came to a halt, sinking into the sand. He craned his neck, glancing around--catching the sound of thudding hoofbeats. His leonine tail flicked to and fro like a lazy cat's as he turned, but something told him not to just wait and see.

A smile in place, he took off at a quick clip, ready to catch whoever was coming his way, fast. "Oi!" he barked upon seeing an inky, horse-like shape, the word slipping from his mouth before he realized it could be a kalona sliding through the shadows. Oops?

No worries!! I take a while sometimes too, so I can't judge, hahah. Take as long as you need! :3 btw, Charlie has a thick German-ish accent, so most of her W's are switched out to V's, and some other words may be spelled "incorrectly".

"Oi!"

Charlie giggled. What a silly noise for a bat to make! "Vait a second..." 'Bats don't speak....' Shaking off her relaxed state instantly, the mare's ears perked up in alert, green eyes squinting through the blanket of dark. She hopped up and turned 180 degrees, muscular legs bending to absorb the shock of her hooves against the rock to eliminate sound. And all this one, smooth, well-practiced motion. Charlotte's inner thief patted herself on the back.

She was annoyed. 'Vone night,' she thought, 'vone night for myself I vanted, and this bullshit happens.' Her vision adjusted and fixed on a white tuft seemingly gravitating towards her: mane to it's owner, with two small glowing orange orbs that she assumed to be eyes resting right below. 's**t.' There was nowhere for her to run to or conceal herself. It was her, on a projection of rock, facing a complete stranger. What was left to do?

In a very calm matter, Charlotte straightened herself out, adjusting herself to look as intimidating as possible before the stranger got close. She stretched her legs out tall and her neck out taut. Ven faced vith an inevitable situation, send the right message across: don't mess vith me.' The closer the figure of the stallion grew, the slower Charlie's heart beat. When he was nearly upon her she was completely relaxed and smirking to greet him. 'Vhat a fool,' she mused, 'he seems as confused as the markings on hiz body.'

A Unicorn, like her fool of a father. They were all idiots. Gallivanting around with no concern for anyone or anything, no ultimate purpose in life. From the looks of this one, there was none better about him. When he was close enough to maintain eye contact, she bore her emeralds into him and began her confrontation; "Vat are you doing here, knave?" Her voice was heavy, condescending, mean.
