Personality:
Like his ancestors and generations before him, Mykanos was born to be a prime example of a hunter. With immense focus, agility, and instinctive awareness, honed for him at a young age, he was able to continue the family trade of hunting the wildlife in the mountains of his home. It's an honor for him that he takes very seriously, and always provides respect for the fallen game that are defeated under his hand. No life is lesser than another in his eyes, especially considering his immense care for and connection with animals. While he adores them, life and death are simply the cycle of the world; both are needed for the other, and for the future to continue.
Mykanos is a reserved man, who keeps to himself. Growing up with just his family, he hasn't had much interaction with strangers, asides from the few times he's encountered fellow huntsmen from other family's. As such he lacks social skills immensely. Preferring solitude, and tranquility anyway, it's never been a bother to him to be alone. While he is the strong silent type, he is also driven by a strong moral compass. If he see's injustice, he will not stand by and let it go unnoticed. He will definitely intervene. He's also very selfless, and will put others before himself, and risk his own life to save another without hesitation. Loyalty is definitely a word to describe him. Honor and pride are high priorities on his list that he does not take lightly.
Wearing a typically blank, placid, composed expression, some might find the lovely boy to be frightening from how he lacks emotion on his features most of the time. However those who do manage to get close to him will be more frequent to the rarity's of them. Holding himself with an air of grace, he's actually quite the gentle presence. Those younger/smaller than his own towering height tend to get more of his protective nature than others. He's very "actions over words" oriented and thus takes what someone does over what they say to heart more than the latter.
A few of his hobbies include working out, hunting, hiking, and basically anything that involves working with his hands. He's very good with animals as well, and has gotten a few domesticated enough to feel comfortable around him. He has an extreme soft spot for animals, not appreciating how just because they lack the human language they are treated terribly.
History:
From a long time hunting family high up in the reclusive mountains of Dauper, Mykanos was born to a mother who was an amazing hunter, and a father who was an impressive fisherman. Both lived lives that got them by each day, but didn't leave too much to spend on in-necessities. The two had married and produced offspring at a relatively young age. His mother being the more serious, and responsible type didn't have any issues adapting to motherhood. She wasn't very soft, or gentle, however, being quite strict and holding high expectations for her children. This wasn't to say she was heartless, affection just wasn't something she expressed too often like typical people. Her means of expressioning affections were by her teachings, and lessons, as well as the immense protectiveness she held for both her daughter and son. However, his father was a more laidback, and whimsical soul. The man didn't take responsibility as seriously as his mother did, and it did eventually catch up to him.
Once Mykanos' older sister went off to join the military, and was the top of her class--but chose to be in the garrison division-- the whole family would visit her in the hustling bustling towns. It was then that the change in the siblings father began...
During the visits their father would wander off for seemingly hours on end, making up reasonings such as finding new vendors to sell his fish and their game to, and the like.
However on one of their usual visits, Mykanos' sister wasn't there. Asking around to some of the other Garrison members earned them nervous looks, and silence, or excuses to go elsewhere. Try as they might, the family was unable to find an answer to where their daughter/sister was. It wasn't until some weeks later that a messenger came to their home all the way in the mountains, bearing the black choker that Mykanos' dear sister would wear, and gave the lame excuse that she'd been involved in some sort of uprising that'd occured.
This was just a lie, though... the truth sealed away.
Distraught, Mykanos' mother put all her energy and focus into her work, hunting for long hours on end, even after dark. Preparing the meats, and skins fervently, in an effort to drown away her sorrows. To add fuel to the fire, she also came to discover her husband had been cheating on her, when going for another visit into town to try and use brute force to get some answers about her daughter. Catching her mate in the act of smooching some young girl at a bar, she wasted no time cracking his nose, and giving him some black eyes, and stomachache.
Not used to emotions, or dealing with them, she put herself in a position where she would isolate herself from Mykanos, leaving him to himself most of the time, his father no longer welcome home. It was during this time that Mykanos reflected upon the recent events in his family, and came to terms with... quite a few things; how words can be nothing but lies... and only actions can speak the truth. He also grew a hatred for his father as well, but did not blame his mother for her own actions and detachment. Focusing on keeping up with the household duties, taking care of himself, and keeping entertained, this portion of his life really helped him mature quickly.
Unfortunately, things did not improve from there. His father was killed in town, by a group of angry men who were infuriated with him for messing around with their women. Not too long after, his mother died during her time out hunting, emotions having gotten the best of her, along with exhaustion. She was blinded by her rage, and it was the end of her when facing off with her game. Left alone in his little home, waiting for his mother to come back, Mykanos went about the usual rituals, gazing hopefully out into the forest, waiting for his mother to return.
Of course, she never did.
Hunting as only one person wasn't going to make ends meet. He barely got by with what he had, and was terribly exhausted from the extra work required. The monotonous cycle that rinsed and repeated each day was starting to get to him, along with the unresolved, and complicated feelings that churned in his gut each day. Like his mother, he was unable to really dissect and comprehend them. He felt trapped, caged... and it was starting to wear on his psyche.
It was during this time that he started to wonder about the outside world, and pondered if perhaps these walls were what was making him feel so anxious. Enlisting in the military sounded like the most plausible solution for his problems... and the possibility to see what was beyond those walls.
