Erevu paused in his trek along the border, rusty eyes scanning the land beyond. It was near the end of his shift, the sun moving closer and closer to the horizon. Stretching, he sat for a moment, watching the world around him, enjoying the lasting warmth that remained from the scorching day. He had shared passing words with fellow scouts and chattered along with guest.
Lingering at the border for a little longer, he finally stood up to turn around. It was time to head home. Just as he began to tear his gaze, however… There were visitors. Rusty eyes squinting, Erevu wrinkled his nose. He didn’t even entertain the thought of letting another scout escort the guest; he wasn’t about to pass off his job just because his shift was over.
Cautiously, the lion made his way to the pair, slowly closing the distance.
