It had started simply enough. Zeldin couldn't simply stand by while the young kalona attacked a family of harmless field mice. Sure, it was just a foal, but she wasn't much of a fighter and a good scolding was certainly in order. She approached, opened her mouth, then watched as the foal's father emerged from the bushes. A draft. She wouldn't have expected it judging from the foal's slight frame.
She glanced down at the mouse's den just in time to see the last of the family scurrying off into the bushes. Her eyes flicked back to the father, "Oh... Heh... Oh dear. I'm afraid this might be a case of mistaken identity. He looks so much like..." The father charged forward and she scrambled to put some distance between them. She did manage to make it into the air, but the kalona was right on her tail. He leapt at her from behind, grabbing one wing in his jaws. She cried out, but pulled away. He hadn't been able to clamp down hard enough to get a firm grasp on her, but now the wing was out of commission. She was being forced to fly with only two wings and with an angry father behind her that wouldn't be near fast enough.

Roshahan was flying towards his new home, near where his brother spent his days, when he heard a cry. He wasn't sure if it was a cry of pain or a cry of fear, but he couldn't just IGNORE such a thing. He might not be the sort to go dashing off to rescue maidens at the drop of a hat or a rumor, but what was in his own personal perview, he could not ignore. He banked and headed for the sound, his ears back, very concerned by it. He hoped he could help. He also hoped he wasn't going to look a fool, flying in on what might be a personal argument between two Soquili.
When the grey Angeni flew into view, he flew towards her, initially thinking she might be able to help... And then he realized she was being chased by a Kalona. He felt a flicker of both concern and confusion. He wasn't sure he could take on a Kalona himself, but he'd try to help her... But wasn't she an Angeni? He thought Angeni fought evil! Of course, he didn't know many... Maybe he misunderstood. Still... He called out to her. "Come this way! Maybe we can work together to chase him off!"

Zeldin's eyes shot wide when she spotted the stranger. Oh, she needed help more than anything, but she didn't want anyone getting hurt on her behalf! It wouldn't be right, she couldn't' ask a stranger to- a growl from behind her was all it took to melt her resolve away. She beat her wings hard, trying to get the distance needed to turn toward the stranger.
"Help!" she couldn't spare a glance back. "He's injured my wing!"

"Land! We need to land, get back to back! He can't come at us from below or behind that way!" It was all he could think of, and he headed straight towards the mare, not at all loath to help the poor girl! He didn't know what was going on, or why, but in a choice between Kalona and Angeni, he was absolutely sure the one going to do bad wasn't the Angeni. "This way, Fast!"
As soon as he was close to her, he dived for the ground, looking at her to follow him. They were all flyers, the Kalona could fly better then he, and she was injured. The air provided no safety for either of them here!

It was against every instinct she had, but the logical part of her knew he was right. Injured as she was she couldn't outfly a full grown kalona. She folded her wings and entered a dive, hoping the kalona wouldn't follow her quick enough to catch up. With this wing as it was she would have to slow earlier than usual to avoid hititng the ground.
She made it. As she stood beside the stallion she peared up and realized he hadn't even tried to dive after her.

Rosh pivoted to put his back to the Angeni, before he realized that... the kalona hadn't followed after them. He blinked slowly, then finally, cautiously, stepped away so that he could see the Angeni fully. He was, however, keeping a very careful eye on the skies over them, in case the angry beast decided to attack after all. He carefully examined the injured wing, trying to assess the damage.
"My name is Roshahan, miss... Are you ok? Is your wing going to need attention, or do you think it'll heal on it's own?" He vaguely pondered bringing her back to see that healer-boy Miro had been making friends with, if necessary, since he didn't know any Unicorns.

Zeldin was still scanning the sky for the kalona when Rosh spoke. She flinched a bit at the sound of his voice, but calmed quickly enough.
With a soft sigh she admitted, "My wing is injured. I'm afraid it was my fault. I'm just no good in a fight."
She looked back up at the sky, scanning it for any trace of the huge male that had tailed her. "I... think he's gone. I suppose he wouldn't want to chase me too far with a foal to watch... Thank you for the help."

Rosh blinked a little, and finally said "I see. Well I'm sorry he injured you. I know of some one who might be able to help you. Not a unicorn, but an herb healer type? He's a friend of my brother's." He studied the wing with concern. "I only know basic wound care... as in 'wash it, and leave it'... So I don't think I can do much beyond that... And I'd hate to think you're risking long term injury."
He glanced to the sky as well, and, after a moment, nodded. "I see no signs of him, thankfully. I don't like the idea of a Kalona around here... it's too near my home. No one wants one of them hanging around their home, really..."

"Yes, kalona are a difficult group to live alongside..." she said. She tried stretching out the wing that had been bitten, but could only move it a minimal amount.
"I may need the attention of a skilled unicorn. I mean, no offense to your friend, but the bite is deep, I'm not sure that herbs alone would be sufficiant... But any healing would be better than none."

He watched the way she stretched and nodded a little. "I can understand your thought, though he is very skilled. He has been helping my younger brother rehabilitate a leg that got mauled by a Bearwalker..."
"If nothing else, he should be able to assist you with it long enough to get you to a skilled Unicorn." He nodded a bit. "I can lead you to where he is currently staying if you'd like?"

She gave him a small smile as she tried to fold her wing in to rest in a more comfortable position. She would have preferred to go home to see her mother but since she'd long since lost her bearings it seemed far safer to follow the mixed stallion back to his healer friend.
"Yes, thank you, I would like that very much. Uh... Sorry your name... Roshahan! It was Roshahan, that's right. I'm sorry, I think I neglected to introduce myself. My name is Zeldin."

Rosh gave a warm smile at that, and nodded. "Zeldin. It is a lovely name, and quite unique." He nodded gently in the direction they would need to walk. "If you'd follow me this way, I can guide you. If we find a stream, perhaps we should pause, to wash off the wing."
He paused, then shrugged. "The only downside to that is it might be quite cold. The nearest streams I know of are Winter Melt formed, and might be... icy."

"Are we going far?" she asked. "The thought of dunking myself in chilled water when I'm already sore is uncomfortable to say the least. But if your healer friend is nearby and the distance is short then you are... probably... right about washing out the wound."
She moved forward to follow Rosh, then winced at the unexpected pain caused by jostling her wing. Where kalona venomous? She couldn't remember.

He gave her a gentle, sympathetic look. "Maybe an hour's walk, really? He doesn't live far, it's just shorter by air of course. And I can understand that. Frigid water..."
He gave a small shudder, at the thought. "Yes, I'd rather not put frigid water on my wings either... At the best of times. But I am just concerned about infections. Who knew where those nasty teeth have been, or what they've got on them?" He made a disguested face.
