Double features were always exciting! She had already seen the original Godzilla film, of course. But it had not been on the big screen, in a theater, in the evironment for which it was designed. It certainly had not been with kaiju afficianados who proudly came out wearing makeshift costumes and graphic tees. For her part, she had been unable to resist wearing a yellow, Mothra t-shirt to show her own favorite. No more makeshift wings though, not after how she had such trouble with construction during the Lunar eclipse! Penelope had arrived early to secure the best possible seating. ...unfortunately, the other giant monster fans had had the same idea. As it was, she had at least managed to snag two seats about half-way up, even if they were on the far left side. It was one of the tiny rows with only three seats, and she currently occupied the one most inward. To do otherwise would just be rude! Her purse sat in the middle seat in the row, reserving it for her... Her cheeks heated as she pulled out her phone to turn down the volume. It was hard to fully grasp, even now that... that she had a boyfriend. Not a one-time date, not someone with whom her mother had set her up but a... boyfriend. Someone who wanted to be with her as much as she wanted to be with him, to watch movies with her, talk to her about her problems. It had begun slow, of course. She still remembered when she first saw Scott at the carnival... and then again at the convention, and... it just seemed like everywhere they went, they bumped into the other. Really, was it any surprise that they had hit off - mutually shy, shared interests and all? Penelope hoped not and thanked her moon, the stars, and whatever other wonders had aligned for them to meet. Said boyfriend was currently occupied at the snack stand, but she looked forward to watching the films and discussing them with him after! What could possibly go wrong? ... alot. But she really, really hoped that the Destiny City Council, youma, and the Negaverse could let her have just this one night off. Lucifer Force Not Zach, but he can steal it anyway. xD

If there was anything Zach loved, after the fairer sex, it was cheesy movies. He could get out of the house for a few hours, inhale unhealthy popcorn and have his eardrums blasted out. Maybe he could meet a couple of fine ladies? One never knew, and thus Zach rolled up in his best duds. Since the Calloway family only owned two cars and Christa needed one for errands, he hitched a ride with her, being dropped off just out front before she pulled away in the family's well-loved sedan. Cellphone and ID handy, the boy sauntered through the movie ticket line as if he owned the joint, purchasing himself one ticket and made a beeline for the snack stand. Awww yiiiyah popcorn time!Popcorn and fizzy drank acquired, the movie theater for the double feature of Godzilla and Whatever the Hell Else Because WTF Japan was packed with nerds of all kinds. While Zach didn't consider the nerds as "his people", they weren't nearly as judgmental as other social groups in school. He felt like he belonged more here than, say, with the druggies or the skater kids, even though he more often dressed that part. The gray-haired boy made to mingle a bit, complimenting people on their costumes as he tried to gingerly step over them. Bag of popcorn in one hand, soda in the other, it was a delicate do-or-die dance of potentially disastrous consequences. One particularly elaborate kaiju costume was worn by a man who probably never saw the inside of a gym, but the costume was a thing of magnificence. One could tell hours were spent on this full body getup and Zach was admiring the pristine and slightly dewy looking scales, wondering how such a thing was constructed. It was then that his foot caught part of the tail and he tripped, hopping and skipping in that semi-deadly sort of way, hoping not to spill any of his precious cargo. He came to a stop just a few seats away from... "Penelope? OH HEY, PENELOPE!" came a cry of exuberance and Zach, ever suave and observant, spied an empty seat next to the Grecian Goddess herself. It took not time at all to plop his a** down next to the poor girl with a giant grin on his face. "Were you saving a seat for me? Aww man, I had no idea you liked these kinds of movies! How are you, by the way? Want some popcorn?" It was blissful, the ignorance. Quicksilver the Archangel Oh haaaaaay is this seat taken?

All he wanted was a nice day to relax. It wasn't much. It wasn't as if Scott Erlea wanted all of his problems and the world's problems to resolve themselves in a single night, or that he was expecting great cosmic peace to ripple throughout the galaxy, though if it had happened, that had been really nice. No, he wanted a night where he wouldn't have to answer someone's orders over a crystal, or a night he didn't have to transform at all. He wanted to keep that part of his life locked away for the night, even if only for a single night. Tonight, he just wanted to relax. No worries, no fears, only Penelope Seneca, and Godzilla, in which he truly hoped would live up to the hype in his head. It probably wouldn't, but if he could watch the giant monster movie without a monster rampaging through the theater, that would have been great.
He did everything within his power to ensure this. Arrived early to the theater? Check. Allowance saved up for tickets and snacks for not only himself but for Penelope? Check. Seats reserved? Hopefully check, as that was left in the every reliable hands of Penelope and he trusted that she'd hold her own. He hated to admit that he was a little worried for her- he felt responsible for her safety and he liked to think that he brought her into this crazy fandom, and he feared that the crazy, hardcore fanatics might have taken offense to her being there... but given the adorable yellow Mothra shirt she wore, maybe that would appease them. Or maybe they were all looking at her, eyeing her...
He forced the thought from his mind. She wasn't his. She was his girlfriend, but she wasn't his. Others could look, he figured... so long as they didn't touch her, or hurt her. Heaven help them if they hurt her. Once again he tried pushing the thought from his mind. It was just a date, nothing more... maybe after watching him fangasm all over the place she'd be too embarrassed to be seen in public with him and she'd dump his sorry butt the moment the credits rolled.
'Maybe... that'd be for the best. If... you know...'
He made his purchase and made his way back towards the theater, pushing all negative thoughts to the back of his mind. No use in thinking about that now. Just grab the food, find Penelope, sit down, and get lost in the pathetic little fanboy that he was...
Only there was an immediate problem... there was another guy sitting next to Penelope.
Feathers were ruffled, but thankfully the popcorn and large soda didn't end up on the floor. For now.Quicksilver the Archangel

The din of excited kaiju fans was cut by the stumbling appearance of a familiar face. “Zach!” Penelope would recognize that ashen-haired bunch of exuberance anywhere, and if she had been given the time to actually answer the questions thrown her way, perhaps would not feel as awkward as she did. More awkward was the way he plopped in the seat with barely enough time for her to take back the purse that had been reserving it. She was, of course, pleased to see him and that he was doing well! He was a new friend, but still a friend. “I’m more of a comic book person, really, though IDW’s Godzilla is quite good right now and the old Marvel issues are fun. It’s pretty recently that I’ve been watching kaiju films.” She paused, hitting on the one sticky part of the situation. “As for the seat, actually I was saving it for..” Her voice trailed off whenever the one for whom she had truly been saving the seat appeared. She flashed an apologetic smile to her gray-haired friend as she rose to greet him; the same expression remained for failing to save the seat properly as she offered to take one of the bulky items away from her boyfriend. “Scott, this is my friend, Zach.” Penelope would never presume that someone would have any real interest in her. She was still not sure how she had been lucky enough to find Scott! She was also as discrete as ever. Perhaps her boyfriend would value their privacy, as both of them were shy, and would not want her to introduce him by that title. If that was the case, she did not want to pressure him! All the same, she could not resist the urge to stretch up slightly on her toes and to dot a kiss to the boy’s moustached face. She aimed for the cheek, so as not to overturn either popcorn or soft drink. In a way, it was an apology in and of itself. They had only planned to be with each other to watch the films, but the room was already so full. If they sent Zach away, then he might not even be able to find a seat! Ever one to try and please, penelope suggested, “Scott, why don’t you sit in the first seat, and I’ll take the middle? Then, you can take the aisle seat, Zach.” Such an arrangement would allow her to squeeze her boyfriend’s hand without alienating her friend. That way everyone could enjoy the show!

Zach hadn't the slightest idea that Penelope was such a... nerd. In a way, that made her more approachable and more interesting. There was a smile lurking in the back of his mind that slowly bloomed on his face until a tall, lanky blonde man showed up. Friend, as he was introduced, was totally fine in Zach's book. The guy looked like a dork anyway, probably a friend from school or something. Penelope was in college at this point, or at least Zach assumed her to be. "Oh hey, Scott! Nice to meet you!" and the boy held out his hand for a good-natured shake. Everything was still quite hunky-dory in the Calloway boy's mind until he happened to be watching Penelope for just a bit too long and... saw the peck on the cheek. ...........!??!?!?!?!??!!!!?!?!?Oh this was not good. Zachary's entire world view had shifted slightly to the left as he numbly stood and moved out of the way to allow Scott -- THE BOYFRIEND -- through to his seat. The heartbroken teen melted back into the aisle seat and stared down at this bucket of popcorn, wondering where he had gone wrong. From what point on the path did he stray? Was this karma? Retribution? Was it because he accidentally hit beloved Penelope with his stupid and awful Sailor attack? Or was he simply doomed to love the women who were spoken for? He couldn't stop the pitiful whine that escaped his lips but by that time, the previous had begun to flicker across the screen and the theater boomed with light and sound. Christa better not ever hear of this!! The last thing he wanted to do was wedge between two lovebirds like this... he didn't want Penelope to dislike him for it either. As soon as the movie was underway and the audience enthralled, Zach snuck out of the theater to go sulk about his love life. (( Closing this out after the fact for growth purposes. I'm well over the 500 word mark. -- 2/24/17 ))

Scott was certain that this situation was just as awkward for Penelope as it was for him, and he couldn't find it in himself to be angry with her, even for the slightest. Already his mind was considering the theory that whoever his guy was had seen himself into the seat and not allowing for Penelope to get the chance to tell him that the seat was taken. That wasn't all that was taken, but he tried not to think of it that way. Penelope was no possession. She was his girlfriend! An equally-mutual relationship! Still, it was hard for him not to fume at the sight of another guy getting awfully close to her and he tried his best not to let his scowl from taking over his face right now. He didn't want Penelope to think he was angry at her... he could never be angry with her!
He looked over Zach as she introduced him, and he forced his hands down to his side, resisting the urge to wrap his arms around Penelope's waist and pull her closer, just to drive the point home. On the outside he seemed meek but a little angered, but on the inside, he felt ready to release an atomic breath of his own. But he refrained, just barely, for Penelope's sake. He was so caught up in his seething, jealous rage that the peck to his check took him off guard, and the food in his hands almost when tumbling from his hands before he caught them again, and just like that, his anger was appeased. Zach was a friend, only a friend, and Penelope's suggestion was as alluring as Mothra's song was to Mothra. "That's good with me... what about you, Zach? That okay with you?"
He just wanted to sit down and watch the new Godzilla film with his girlfriend. It was the first film in over ten years, and maybe it was selfish of him to want to watch it over resolving his own life problems and to spend the time with his girlfriend, but he wasn't aiming to push her friends away. Surely there could have been a compromise? Maybe not, as he couldn't help but notice just how surprised he looked after seeing Penelope kiss his cheek...
'Sorry... but... I was here first. I think.' Scott thought, moving towards the seat that Penelope now deemed his as the previews started. He really didn't want to start a fight! They'd be seeing enough of that in the movie!Quicksilver the Archangel
