It was raining, hard, and with no fog, there was a very clear view of endless mud and muck and no sigh of the rain letting up. On days like this, it was even hard to get work done as it was hell to get from between one building to the next. The training fields were a mess of puddles large enough to go up to a Sun’s waist, and many people were re-evaluating the merits of a white uniform with all the mud.

In the mist of being bored, Twitter was a small refuge. With so many hunters locked up with no release and idle hands not being the best idea when in easy reach of weapons, it wasn’t good to be without distraction.
Melvin needed a distraction.

A tweet was sent out to all hunters in reach of their phones.

Quote:
Tweet:

Anyone up for Hide n Seek? Winner claims victory for their house.
Meet: Second floor dorm lounge
Time: 6pm
Bring flashlights.

Melvin closed his phone and waited on the couch, placing runic batteries in a set of flashlights.

Noemi was surprised when she got the text message that she did. Hide and seek? Games? She was still recovering from her burns, but it didn't hurt as much to walk around.

Usually she would keep away from events like this, but she wanted to try being strong, like Milo said. And she needed...god help her...to get to know other people and hunters.

She shyly gathered four flashlights from the supply closet, fumbled with her phone for the longest time and then went up to the meeting room. She didn't immediately say a greeting to Milo, thanks to her shyness, and looked at her feet mostly.

Hopefully the people she texted would be here.

How could she say no? She didn't know who Melvin was, but he was putting together a game of hide and seek, with adults. She was sure this would lead to twister, or maybe even seven minutes in heaven. She remembered grade school.

So she showed up, bright eyed and bushy tailed, tapping away at her phone even as she walked up. She didn't greet Melvin, nor did she ever look up from her incessant tapping, but she was clearly there for the game, whenever it started.

Dylon was there with bells on, grinning ear to ear as he sat down. Games on a rainy day was great! Maebe was there, and she was of course given a once over and a waggle of his brows. His arms draped across the back of the couch confidently.

Otto was not there, because he hated crowds. Even if he was pretty great at hiding, he was so not into joining in on group fun times.

The injured were released, things were attempting to get back to normal. Peyton still wasn't sleeping great, but the dark circles beneath her eyes were lighter, and she looked better than she had over the last week. Any little excuse to stay up would have caught her attention, but hide 'n seek sounded genuinely fun. Specially an island wide version.

She'd seen the message on twitter, and she'd cracked a wide grin before going for her closet to rifle through until she found her red and gold Gryffindor leggings. This was paired with a long sleeved tee that floated around her upper body. Dark material, noting fancy. Boots and flashlight were grabbed on her way out the door, and she was drawing her hair back in a braid by the time she reached the second floor lounge.

Melvin would receive a bright grin as she flopped down on the arm of one of the chairs and pulled her phone from her back pocket to compose a series of texts.

She finished the last one, then tucked her phone into her pocket just in time to see Maebe show up. "What's shakin, hotstuff?" Apparently she'd gotten over the awkwardness that had washed over her after that kiss.

Hanna's burns weren't 100% healed, but she was well enough to go back to her dorm, which was nirvana as far as she was concerned. She looked mostly well, save a few angry red marks of healing splattered across her torso. Luckily, her face had mostly cleared so she looked relatively normal. Laying in her bed, she was contemplating a charming nap when her phone went off with a tweet. It was Melvin -- a name she recognized after the fiasco. He was the one who fired shots inside the Sarlacc. Hanna's nose wrinkled.

Still... the promise of socializing again -- sans famine infection -- sounded like a lovely mental break. Plus, ADVENTURE. Hanna loved herself some adventure.

Slipping a dark gray hoodie on over her teal tank top and jean shorts, she pulled on a pair of knee-high grey socks and black boots. The only flashlight she had was something she had found in the hallway -- no telling how long the charge would last. Still, she tucked it into her pocket and set out in search of things more interesting than the ceiling of her room.

Hanna arrived to the 2nd floor lounge just behind a gathering of a couple others. She waved to Neomi, and then made her way over to Peyton. "Hey," she said, smiling. "I'm glad to see you when we both smell much better." The ooze from the Sarlacc had been... tangy?

Golden eyes fell to her socks. "THOSE. ARE. AWESOME," she said quickly, a bit more enthusiastically than normal. "Gryffindor colors, am I right?" She hoped that was Peyton's intention. Otherwise, she looked like a massive nerd.

Which, you know, sort of fit.

Nora the tech failure had just been introduced to the twitter system (her phone had basically been serving as a paper weight for the most part) in time to catch the message. Interesting. She arrived shortly afterwards, forgoing her armor for a form-fitting tee and jeans--and then instantly regretted missing the Harry Potter reference when she saw some had chosen to wear colors. She blamed shitty sleep.

"Should I just tell you what house?" she asked Melvin, passing a smile over at Peyton and Hanna as she tapped her flashlight against her thigh idly. "Sort of forgot to dress up for that bit. Thought it was another word for division . . ." Although a good game needed more members, so out went her phone.

"Feeling better, then?" someone asked Hanna.

Jack was just there, like he always had been. After various proddings from people about being a hermit, he had decided to prove he was capable of going out, just simply not interested. Being in the dark would make things easier; less people to look at while peopling. He was a little surprised to see her up and about--but then again, that just spoke of his work on helping her recover, now didn't it.

In his green scarf and gray workshirt, he was a walking Slytherin without even catching the reference.

"Good," Jack answered himself with a little nod, pocketing his hands with a grin. "Told you I gave you the good stuff."

Only then did his eyes flicker towards Peyton, though nothing about his expression or posture changed. "You look like s**t," he said pleasantly, noting that the bags under her eyes hadn't disappeared. "Think you can keep up?"

Evan wasn't afraid of no ghosts the dark, but he did startle when his little-used phone vibrated in his pocket, probably indicating that it was dying or about to explode or--no, he just had a message. He paused before reading it, half afraid that it was another mission summons. He had only just recovered from the last one, and he found that he had little desire to throw himself back into sure and sudden danger. That was distressing; he reminded himself to start using his liberty days, and soon.

Fortunately, hide and seek didn't sound stressful at all. He didn't text Nora back, figuring he would just see her up there anyway. Sure enough, she was still texting when he arrived. With a sly smile, he snuck up behind her. "Found you," he whispered into her ear.

America sauntered in with a flashlight clipped to her loop and a smaller penlight tucked into her bra. "Yooooooo! Hope y'all are ready because gotta say, Basement Nation's been training for this s**t on like, a daily basis." Coming up behind Peyton, America just kind of draped herself around the smaller hunter and grinned at everyone gathered.

Lips split in a bright grin at Hanna's greeting, and she laughed. "Yeah, right? IT's good to see you up and about." The last few times she'd seen the poor trainee she'd been bedridden and burnt like everyone else that'd been quarantined from the Sahara mission. Pey was glad they had all been released. Playing infirmary tag had been a great distraction, but it had been incredibly exhausting. That first night the teen had had a blissful eleven hours of dreamless sleep before the dreams had started in.

Nora was also treated to a smile, and the dainty Sun lifted a hand to give a little finger wiggle of a wave to her and Evan before Jack's voice wrenched her attention around to him, and her smile took on a decidedly sharp edge. "I know I can." They'd played that game already. He might have longer legs, but she'd been faster.

She didn't bother acknowledging his so charming assessment of her, she knew she looked tired.

As a pair of arms looped over her shoulders her head tipped back to eye the redhead that had draped herself against her back, and she turned to lay a kiss on the taller girl's cheek. Lips against her skin, she murmured. "Jack thinks I look like s**t." A fragment of a chuckle followed, pale eyes rolling back up to the giant. America had seen the marks on her neck, and Peyton had told her where they'd come from and why. The Moon also knew the shorter girl hadn't been sleeping great.

Peyton always confided in her Moon-wife.

When he got the text, Milo might have taken a moment to bask in it; even hold up his phone like it was a holy relic and exclaim 'aa!' Even he had to admit he found it unlikely that Noemi would try to talk to him for a long while, not with what happened in the Sahara; like she would need a time out or something. She had been pretty sadpanda about the whole thing. But here she was, inviting him to a game.

Text to Noemi: OMW!

And he showed up in the second floor common room with a flashlight in the back pocket of his pants. He was dressed rather casually, even so much as wearing a very nerdy hoodie that no one would really even know what it was from. There were still remnants of bandages on his arms, unseen until he pushed up his sleeves a bit and his hair a bit shorter than it had been before. Because, well, fire. But that smile was there.

"Sup!" He exclaimed upon entering, holding up a hand in greeting. "'ey Miss America, Yellow," each a flashing grin. Oh hey was that, "yo, Hanna!" And hey, "Evan." He gave a little salute to Melvin as well, knowing vaguely of the guy - seen him around - and knowing it was he who had thrown this all together. He then rounded upon the short red head and engulfed her in a hug, "'ello Noemi-chan ~"

Hide and seek. The hiding part sounded fine, the seeking not so much. Playing in the dark, however, with both strangers and quite probably familiars? That was an offer a bit too tempting to pass up. So, Finn decided to leave his room, shaking off his lower then usual mood to get out and be sociable, grabbing a flashlight on his way out the door.

Shortly afterwards he was making his way into the second floor lounge, eye scanning the room, gaze falling on Noemi for a moment, offering her a cold smile should she glance his way, before he made his way over to where he felt most comfortable for the moment, next to Jack, while continuing to eye up all of those already arrived.

Oh hey, two girls wrapped up in each other. Fun. His smile changed into a smirk as he very obviously stared at the two of them, knowing them both by name but not much else.

His towering green haired friend was pretty good at shaking Finn down for information, but wasn't so quick to offer any up in return, so he also had no idea of any animosity between one of the girls- or maybe even both- and Jack.

Finally he tore his gaze away, flipping his flashlight in his hand. "So no to the blind dates, but yes to this? Really, Jackie?"

Even while he spoke, he began digging in his pocket for his phone.

There was instant suspicion at the tweet she was reading, wondering what exactly had prompted a hunter to a game of hide and seek? She frowned, debating on going for most of the day, trying to figure out if it was worth it or not. And okay, she had to admit that something... fun and amusing was something she could really use right now. If just to get her mind off other things.

It wasn't until she got a challenging text - even if it sounded dirty she knew it wasn't - that made her accept her fate.

She was playing hide and seek, it would seem. If only to have the pleasure of defeating a few certain people. Or just harass them.

text to Finn: I'll come brighten up your night, I guess~

At 6:07, she found her way to the second floor dorm lounge. There were several faces that were familiar, though only one in particular received a smirk. And the other... "Jolly Green Jack, is this how you go about finding dates now?" Fini tsk tsk'ed him, shooting the sweetest of smiles at him before flinging an arm around Finn. Like the horrible accomplice she was. "I think we gotta work on a few more things." She mock whispered, pointing a thumb at Jack.

Evan was promptly visited by deja vu when her kneejerk reaction was to throw her arm back and smack him. At least it wasn't her foot this time.

"Good grief, Evan, don't sneak up on me like that," Nora chided him as she rubbed her knuckles, her partner cackling madly in her head. "Oy. Otherwise, glad to see you've made room in your schedule."

She turned her gaze back to group, perking. "So you're there too, then?" she asked the trainee draping around Peyton. "'Fraid I haven't introduced myself yet. Nora Ravensgrove, new occupant of some torture room. Manacles, bloodstains, everything."

"Ah, good~ It'd be pretty boring if you couldn't keep up," Jack replied quite pleasantly. He had just been just about to reach for his phone when Finn made it a moot point.

Sigh. "Jackie" really needed to go.

"Mutiple idiots for a short time versus one person of your choosing for god knows how long? I'll take my chances," he drawled. "Besides, you should be happy. Not hermiting, see? Absolutely socializing." He made a vague gesture that apparently was supposed to symbolize this.

Thoroughly unaware of what had transpired betweenthe two, he merely gave Fini a flat look when she arrived, as if expecting some new cheeky comment from her too. Conspirers.

It had taken him a while to get the first message on his damn phone to open. And then another one popped up. He had to stop and ask another Hunter passing by to close the first message so he could open the second.

Hide and seek? Zascha hadn't played that since....

The thought pained him momentarily as partially numb fingers slipped the phone into his jean's pocket. A slight after effect that still lingered from the fire. Hopefully it wasn't permanent.

Making his way to the second floor lounge, Zascha grinned as there already seemed to be a growing gaggle of Hunters. He had gone for a more relaxed look today, leaving the uniform behind. Though he was no great fashionista. Blue jeans and a long sleeve fitted black thermal shirt. Nothing flashy. He wasn't about flash.
