Patrolling was difficult. Effort was difficult. Zia had recently gotten back from an unsuccessful patrol out that nearly ended with being fuzzy youma food by soaking in the large tub in the penthouse master bathroom.

She had a few bruises blooming on her legs, but nothing that was going to add to her scar collection or put her out of the game for any length of time, so for the most part she had done nothing but soak and whine and muse on what she was going to do for dinner once she was out.

An easy finish to a hard night, she got out and slid into clean yoga pants and a light top to accommodate the early summer weather and turned her attention to the mirror as she alternated between brushing and towel drying out her curls, oblivious to what was currently making motions to mirrorwalk with that particular reflective surface as a destination.

You know what was difficult? Walking with a broken rib. At the beginning of the night it had started as a partially repaired fractured rib from one of his previous engagements but after his encounter with two psychotic women, he found himself moving up in the broken world. It could have been worse, right? Well, it was. Not only was he bearing the pain of the broken rib but his nose was clearly broken and his uniform had burned into his skin in some spots while it simply burned away in others.

With his starry overlay practically burned away, he barely looked like a Dark Mirror senshi when he began to stumble his way through the mirror of Zia's bathroom. This was a terrible idea. He knew it was but the pain this would cause him would be exponentially less than the death that would have come over him if he hadn't forced his fears aside to escape through that mirror.

He didn't even have time to realize that Zia was in the room when his body literally fell out of the mirror and onto the floor. He didn't say anything, simply making unintelligible moans and groans as his teeth began to bite into his lower lip until it began to bleed. He couldn't think right? He was home right? The fact he didn't have mirrors in his own apartment completely slipped his mind for a moment as his eyes stared at the feet that weren't his own.

The disturbance in the reflection went almost unnoticed for a second, but by the time the body crashed on the polished stone floor Zia was full on screaming.

At least until she registered that the bloody mess was Orpheus, then she just clasped hr hands over her mouth and frantically looked around, hoping no one was around to hear her. She tossed the towel away and dropped to her knees, at first reaching out to grab him and then retracting her hands with a wince.

"Holy ********, you scared the crap out of me!" She was still shrill as she spoke but she was notably trying to get her pitch under control.

"Oh my god, what happened to you? Should I call an ambulance? Gah, except--... Oh, ********. ********, ********>
PostPosted: Mon May 12, 2014 8:07 pm

The shrill of her screaming was enough for him to finally register that those feet in front of him wasn't simply his own feet with no shoes. They were pretty girly, were his like that? No, his feet weren't nearly as nice as Zia's feet were. He couldn't bring himself to look up, the glasses that normally sat upon the bridge of his nose long since gone. Even if he had them, keeping them on top of a broken nose just seemed really dumb. Dumber than mirror walking into Zia's bathroom.

Eyes on the towel, Orpheus shifted his weight until he let out a loud hissing noise followed by an audible curse as his eyes shut tightly and he winced in pain. Oh ********, maybe it was more than one rib. Orpheus couldn't tell, and he definitely wasn't going to purposely poke around to find out. He just wanted the pain to go away, and by this time he registered Zia's voice as actual words.

"Some... ********," he said as his breathing seemed hoarse as he tried to control how much his chest moved. "Bitches... I... don't even... know. A super and... eternal." Did he know their names? He couldn't remember if it came up between the cursing and them trying to kill his chaotic a**. He might have shrugged and laughed this off but there was no way to hide the real injury that was across his face.

"Might have... had a fractured rib... before—aaahhhssssssfuuuuuuuuu," he said, not even able to finish his sentence or curse. Ahsfu? Was that even a word? It sure ******** was a word. It was from the language of pain, or misery, or maybe a mix of the two languages together. He wasn't entirely sure why the world hated him so much? Maybe it just got its jollies off watching him suffer but why him? Sure, he was an uncalled for a*****e but he was just dishing what the world threw at him back at others. It was fair, right?

Clearly the world didn't think so.

"Oh god," Zia was grinding her teeth and looking around as if some magical solution was going to appear in her bathroom. Instead she ended up just dripping her wet hair on the floor and the only action she could think to take was the very unhelpful motion to tie it back in a messy bun out of the way.

Well that was lame.

But what was she supposed to do? Call 911 for the terrorist in her bathroom? Call her knight roommate and explain the Chaos being bleeding on their ******** me what to do for you," She urged, while also wondering in guilt if the senshi were any she knew. "********, Orpheus, I even know who to call to come get you, what am I supposed to do for you?"

Teeth grinding was never a pleasant sound but honestly, over the sound of his own breathing and groans, Orpheus couldn't hear it. His amber eyes seemed empty as they stared at the floor below him, focusing on the smear marks of his own blood on the floor. Was it bad? He had mirrowalked through a mirror but he hadn't actually looked at it. In fact, he's pretty sure he had his eyes closed the entire time.

"I... only have you. I... couldn't go home... broke mirrors in bathroom."

He shifted, thinking about his options here. What was he doing? He winced again, shifting back before wincing again. He found himself hissing, wondering why there was no winning solution here for both his situation at hand and the fact he couldn't even sit still without hurting himself. He felt like a child again, helpless at the whims of his father's rage, and he hated it.

If he knew he was going to feel like this again, maybe he would have let them finish him off.

Zia's gaze at the door needed a few tugs of effort before she could fix it on the broken senshi in front of her, and his answer just knit her brow in confusion. She knew Orpheus was terrified of mirrors, she'd gotten her share of amusement shoving them in front of him or leaving them around the base for him to cover up.

It made sense he would've broken or removed them from his home as a civilian, now that she thought about it, and obviously mental comparisons arose since she remembered living with someone like that. She had attributed that paranoia to unfortunate encounters with mirrorwalkers, though, and didn't pry.

And no one had many more unfortunate encounters with mirrorwalkers than Orpheus.

He was a creepy b*****d, but one she's grown familiar and comfortable with so as he continued making noises in pain her fingers instinctively moved to pet his hair and she pitied him. Blatantly.

But the confusion stayed. They patrolled often and exchanged information. They were valuable assets to one another when it came to survival, but to be his only contact? It didn't make sense.

"I... What?"

The familiar touch of Zia's fingers in his hair eased his pain a little, even if just by relaxing him a little. He cut off his ties with the Dark Mirror court long ago. It didn't stop them from running into him as Orpheus from time to time but he had never been pleasant enough to them to make friends. As a civilian, he had relocated himself almost immediately after the incident. He had roomed with a companion who had shared his fate in the Surrounding but when they both became Dark Mirror senshi, it was clear something wasn't right.

He left, he had to. The friend of Cameron Reid was gone, lost to those who called themselves terrorists. Was Cameron Reid lost too? The name had been lost and replaced with another but did that mean he was truly gone? Under all these glamours, was the boy who had been kidnapped disappeared in the rainbows of space? He didn't want to believe that with Orpheus, Cameron too had disappeared and been replaced by someone else.

He winced a little, his head shifting under Zia's hand as he sighed. He wasn't ready but if he was going to die out there, he wanted Zia to know the real him. He wanted Zia to know why he had followed her around, why he had come to her in his time of need and why everything had become so ******** up. It was hard though. He was risking everything by telling her. Would this put her in harms way more than she did her own? He needed some sort of explanation for this, and for years now he had pondered this very thought.

It was now, or never.

"There once was a boy... named Cameron Reid," he begun, wondering if he was really doing this. "He was... normal...or so he thought... Until one day... he woke up in strange... place. A place... in space. They called it the Surrounding."

His heart was racing, and with it his breath had increased. He found himself wincing from the internal damage, followed by the burns on his skin. He couldn't stop. If he didn't do this now, he never would. He would never know.

"He... hated senshi. Terrorists. A prisoner... trapped... no one to save him. Ares found him there... in the midst of... a battle... no one helped him... and yet... everyone saw what she did. He lost... everything... and soon was lost on the blue planet... with no one. Hating himself... hating his court... he met someone whose... eyes... seemed to share his pain. He didn't know... but he wanted protect her... wanted for her what... he never got..."

Lost amber eyes looked straight at Zia. He seemed to hesitate, almost wishing she'd stop him. She would never look at him the same after this. He knew how much she hated his 'kind.' She told him enough times that it had begun to tear a gap in their relationship. He had thought he could handle it but he hadn't been able to. It wore away and with it so did his hope that something good would ever come to him in this world. He didn't belong. Cameron Reid was gone.

"Zee..." He said as Orpheus faded away to reveal Pascal Lalande, bleeding and burned on her bathroom floor. "He is... I am..."

He never got the rest of the sentence out, his face locked onto her face. He felt like Psyche had attacked him again, stolen his breath from him and instilled this panic upon him. He waited for the inevitable. He waited for the scream. He wanted for the hand that had once touched him tenderly to strike out against him. He waited for everything he had with Zia to disappear as his fuku did.

Zia position as he started story telling was an awkward one. She could only really just sit there on her knees and keep on moving her fingers through his hair as he struggled to get it out through ragged breaths.

Her mind jumped around as small pieces of information eked out. Cameron Reid had given her hope he had someone she could call, some friend or family he could be with instead of his tepid informational source. But as he went on it became apparent it was his old identity, the one he had expressed grief over losing on corruption.

Her stomach sunk a little at that.

"Oh god, okay, stop," She murmured as he rambled on about protecting her and all this pain she supposedly understood. Tears stung the corners of her eyes and the hair stroking evolved into nearly cradling his head, or at least trying to lift it up off the floor.

"Orpheus, dude, I gotta do something with you, I--"

All the air got sucked out of her lungs in a second as she found herself looking down at Pascal's amber eyes instead of Orpheus' and after another moment, the tears flowed freely.

"W--... What?" She gasped out. She whimpered. She was looking around frantically again as if help was going to arrive but this time to pull her out of this situation.

It was too much process, and then it hit her.

Se didn't recognized Orpheus as secretly being the man she loved, someone she had been with for over a year. Unfortunately the reconciliation happened the opposite way at first. She remembered Orpheus invading her privacy, injecting himself into her routine. She remembered his overbearing and boundary crossing behavior, the dangerous risks in meeting him alone, and then as Pascal-- Te person she had gone home to after that-- merged into that picture as the same person, her skin crawled and all at once it hit her.

And she <********!" She screeched, scrambling back away from him across the floor until her back hit the tub, and grabbing the first thing she could get her hands on, which resulted in catapulting a shampoo bottle right at poor Pacal's fragile head.
