It was safe to assume that tonight, Mintaka's nerves were shot. She wasn't one to be jumpy, and tried to be relaxed, fear was healthy but too much of it could lead to death.
But the attacks on the dark mirror court, the sudden rise of aggravation from both order and chaos...and her own worries that her stand to remain neutral would earn her the wrath of her court stressed her out.
She almost didn't seek the feel of the chaos signature out. Almost.
Instead she clung to the shadows of the buildings, searching carefully. If it was someone new, she would leave. If it was someone she knew well...
She could at least attempt to understand.

Captain Merlinite was more than a little excited to be out and about in his new, powered up form. He was a Captain! He had finally earned the right to be more than a newbie, and he had a really badass club to swing around with the promotion. More power, a new ability to teleport around, and a new weapon with spikes on it?!
It was more than he could have hoped for, really, and he was only more excited to keep on getting stronger, just to see what happened next.
He felt an aura nearby and decided to try out this new skill he was given. It was supposed to drain his energy or whatever, but who was going to not teleport if told they could do it? That was like putting a button in front of someone and telling them not to press it. Taking a breath, he focused on the location of the aura, then willed himself over to it. Teleporting was a hell of a trip, and he was lightheaded and disoriented when he reappeared near her. Except he was above her. And there was no ground there.
"Argh!" Merlinite hit the ground hard and shook his head as he pushed his hands under him, foggy and now grumpy.

Mintaka hadn't expected the aura to disappear...and reappear somewhere above her, her gaze drawing up as a sound came from the figure. She moved a bit out of the way, ready to bolt when the figure hit the ground....hard.
"Wow." She couldn't muffle her voice from coming out, moving over to the form and bending down. "....You alright there?" She bent down, looking at a very familiar face and then her eyes widened.
"Merlinite!?!" A lady would not laugh, especially considering he was Chaos, and she was weaker then him at the moment and well....in general it was rude but she couldn't stop the small chuckles from escape, offering her hand out to the negaverser. "Quite a...uh...nasty spill there."

Nyxtsuki Moon Lol you tagged the wrong person! Merlinite grumbled as he pushed himself up and sat forward, legs bowed, hands in his laps. He slumped forward, sitting on his butt, looking fairly defeated without even having to do anything.
That had not gone as he thought. He had never teleported before and had not realized what kind of control was needed. He felt tired and would have to figure out just how much energy that cost him, so he could be better prepared to use it in the future.
And the whole figuring out where the floor was. That he definitely needed to work on.
He looked up at Mintaka and huffed.
"Oh, great. You'd have to see that. Figures." He shook his head, then took her hand and got himself up to his feet, though he really wanted to lean on something and catch his breath. He stood up straight and tried to pretend he was not as embarrassed as he felt. "I was just. Practicing something. Didn't work."

Mintaka waited as Merlinite pulled himself together, resting her arms around knee's and watching him with a twinkle of amusement in her eyes. He couldn't blame her after all, it wasn't often that someone came out of no where and introduced themselves to the ground with such force.
She pulled him up, giving him a once over with a careful eye before laughing for real now. "Because I just happen to be around?" She cocked her head a bit, "Practicing something hmmm? Is it the ability to appear anywhere you wish when you want?" Teleportation. Thats how Zinkenite and herself had met, one minute she was alone, the next she was wrapped in his coat and trying not to fear for her life.
"You powered up then?" She didn't seem bothered by it, should Merlinite attack well, she'd origami flurry her way out and learn to avoid the negaverser later.

"Well, yeah, something like that. Except it takes me a lot of focus and energy, and I guess if I don't know where I'm going things can get tricky. I thought I had imagined it, aimed it, right, but I didn't. That was the first time, though, so I guess I'll have to work on it."
He grunted and looked irritated, not liking failing at anything. He was the kind of guy that needed to be the best, and needed to be good at what he put effort into. He hated the feeling of failure and avoided things he was not good at, because what was the point?
Joining the negaverse was the exception. He had not been good at it and there was still a lot to learn, but he was working harder at this than he had anything before. Maybe because he had no choice, or maybe because he felt like he could really achieve something.
This was his calling, in a way that nothing else in his life had ever called to him. Regardless of how frustrating it could be and how stupid it made him feel, he had to keep at it.
He grinned at her when she noticed his promotion, though, straightening up and looking very proud of himself.
"Yes I did! What do you think of the new look? I got a new weapon, too!" In his excitement to show off, he forgot that he was only supposed to be pretending to be on friendly terms here, and actually just wanting to share because, hey, he knew her and she'd seen him before. So she could judge the new him.

"So it's all about the imagination? That' s interesting! Not something I would ever...imagine doing?" She nudged him a bit, feeling a bit coy and friendly today since he didn't seem in attack mode at all. It was nice to you know...know someone and just talk to them.
She kindly did remember her manners though, politely tucking her hands, and giving him her best winner smile. "Practice makes perfect though Merlinite, you'll get it in no time since you seem to be the type to work hard for it!"
Wow, she hit the nail on the head!
She gave him a once over, pursuing her lips. He was negaverse, an enemy really. Did she feel okay with him getting stronger? It was odd, she had to be the oddest white court senshi around but she did. Feel okay about it. He was fighting for his cause, and he was proving himself. It would be trouble later, she told herself, but she accepted it made him happy now.
She circled around him while she thought about it. "You look good. I'm glad you're moving the ranks Merlinite." She just hoped it wasn't on the blood of others, "A new weapon?" Well see now she wasn't interested in that stuff, since it reminded her of fighting, but she was willing to humor him and put her chin in her hand. "Well if you're going to brag, then might as well show it off!" She was teasing of course. Sorta.
God she felt like the weirdest Senshi.

Merlinite looked at her and frowned at her jokes, but he was only grumpy because he was embarrassed and frustrated that he had failed so hard in his first effort. He would just have to practice and get better, but still. He just wanted to be as adept at something as he pretended in his mind he was. Life would be so much better if he was just a master at all the things he tried to do.
Was that too much to ask?
He was all too happy to show her his new weapon, though. That was a better topic, and one he was genuinely proud of. Sure, he had nothing to do with its redesign, but maybe their weapons were based on something inside them. It powered up this way because he was a bad a** inside. The thing was a dangerous looking club with spikes around it: if that did not sum up how Merlinite saw himself, he was not sure where else to find his metaphor.
Or maybe he was just a little bias.
He had called it to his hand and was showing it to her as she circled back around to the front of him, grinning ear to ear. He was not going to use it on her, though his instincts told him now would be a great time to just bash her face in and take her starseed, just to prove to himself and anyone that might be questioning him that he could. He was a Nega after all, and he could always just blame it on the Chaos.

She looked at the new weapon, going from a regular....stick thing (if she remembered, maybe), to a giant club with spikes. He made her worried, and for a moment, her face would show the fear, should Merlinite decide to act on his desires.
She tried to force herself to relax, reaching over to touch one of the spikes.
"It's dangerous." She started to say, "S...Sorry. It's...It's just...." She looked up at him, her eyes widening, "You could kill someone with it." She couldn't kill with her powers, even if she wanted too.
"I...I guess you're really molding into your role of negaverser." She tried to smile at him, but just seeing the spikes still....her face paled more and more.

Merlinite grinned, looking very proud of himself. He loved this new weapon and could not wait to take a good swing with it when he got a real fight going. He was going to have so much fun with this damn thing, though he just needed to find his actual calling and a path to walk that would allow him to balance his need for violence with his need to climb the ranks.
He watched her for a moment, though, and was surprised to find his joy waver a little. She looked nervous, and he wondered if he had somehow blown his cover, or what was supposed to be a cover, by scaring her. Or did he actually just care that she looked worried about him?
"Well, yeah, I mean. This is what I'm supposed to do, right? Just like you guys are supposed to go out and do... you know, your thing. It's the same thing, but I mean. I wouldn't hit you with this, or anything like that, if that's what you're worried about. I don't really have a reason to, right? You're not... actually all that bad."
He found the words were coming out with difficulty, when generally lying was far too easy for him. Maybe that was because he had actually managed to find a friendly person in this war, and was being honestly friendly in return. Like a friend?
Though he would just tell himself that he was really good at his job of faking people out, and was obviously not really emotionally invested in any of this. Clearly.
