Alistair considered it the height of good behavior that he waited for he and Lance to get home and power down before he started asking questions. The brunet had to admit that he was a little jealous - god, he wanted Super, never mind Eternal - but really, in the end, he was thrilled. No one deserved buttwings more than Lance - and perhaps that was bias talking, but as far as he was concerned it was true.
By the time he finally asked, he was flopping down on the couch.
"So, Eternal, hmm?"

The blonde sighed as he ran a hand through his now free hair. It felt like it was getting longer... Perhaps he should cut it? Or atleast trim it back some.. Oh well, later. The teen flopped on the couch himself, though instead of sitting like Alistair, Lance stole whatever open space there was. "Hmm? Oh.. yeah." He muttered as he shifted, pulling his hair out from underneath him and letting it hang off to the side. The male then raised an arm in silent invitation for Alistair to come over and flop on him.

Alistair flopped on top of Lance, eyebrows already raised. "And taking me to meet Remarque was in no way meant as a distraction from that, I'm sure," there was a lilt of playful sarcasm in his voice. He reached up to brush a thumb across his boyfriend's cheek. "I'm so happy for you," he said softly, "you deserve it."

Lance closed his eyes and grunted lightly when Alistair flopped over on him and wrapped an arm around his boyfriend once more. "Meeting Remarque was it's own thing..." The teen muttered. "And as I recall, there were rules to your little vacation... one of which included not talking about it." He added as he opened his eyes and tilted his head into the hand. "Really? Because I'd kill to be back at basic at this point."

"So no ulterior motive at all for making me power up for the first time in a month?" Alistair asked. All things considered, though, he was glad he hadn't broken his pen - if he had, he wouldn't have been able to come at all, or only in civilian form - and explaining to the Prince of the Dark Mirror why he couldn't...
Not a conversation he wanted to have.
He leaned up and pressed his lips to Lance's. "No, you wouldn't, it's been hell being stuck that weak all this time. You can actually fight, at least."

"Hmmm.. No? How would you have preferred to meet the Prince?" The blonde blinked as if there was another solution that he just wasn't seeing. "Not weak." He muttered against the kiss, his hand moving to rest on the back of Alistair's head as his thumb began stroking the other man's hair. "And barely. Just because I know how to defend myself doesn't mean I know how to fight. My magic makes them defend me. There's a difference Alistair."

Alistair flushed, glancing away from Lance. "Well yes I am glad we met him powered up, but really, I would've preferred to meet him as something more than a basic Senshi after nearly nine months." It hurt, sometimes, to know for a fact that he was absolutely inadequate. If he wasn't, clearly he would have powered up, after all.
"And either way, you are far more useful than me. Turning enemy to ally, never mind that you have actual martial arts training? Much better than what little I bring to the table." He exhaled. "But this isn't about me, this is about you - you did it. You made it to Eternal."

"Hey... Rank doesn't matter. He was just happy to meet you." Lance said, moving his hand down to curl his fingers under Ali's chin and turning the teen back to face him. "It doesn't make you any less important."
"I told you to sign up. I don't know why you haven't yet." The teen muttered. Lance just shrugged. Eternal was just a rank to him. Just a word. To him it hadn't seemed like he'd done anything productive for the court. All he could see was the negative. Letting his partner constantly get beat up, teaching a white mooner how to defend herself, and oh yeah, letting his court get ambushed.

"I suppose, but I still wish I could do...more." Alistair said, eyes still not quite meeting Lance's. "I don't being much to the table besides charm, let's be fair, even if I did start taking classes."
Perhaps the biggest reason he hadn't signed up was right there - he felt as if it wouldn't make a difference. "And why aren't you more proud of yourself? There aren't many Eternals in this war, Lance, certainly not compared to the number of first-level Senshi. It's something amazing, and special - and after all the times you've save my life, I'd like to think you deserve it."

"I don't do much more then charm people either Ali." If one could even count it as charming them. If Lance had to pick a word for it, the blonde would either choose trick or force. His magic forced his opponent to fight for him.
It wasn't something Lance was proud of.
"Why should I be proud Alistair? What have I done to deserve Eternal? Or Super for that matter?" The teen said as he propped himself up on his elbows. You were only in those situations because of me." And with each new rank it had seemed the situations in which Alistair was caught only grew larger and more dangerous. He was not looking forward to what Ali would get caught in now that he was an Eternal. "And whats worse, look what happened to Leto because of me."
"I'm not proud of this Ali. And I doubt I ever will be."

Alistair sat back and finally met Lance's eyes, hands resting on his boyfriend's chest. "You are strong, and I don't just mean physically. All the s**t we've gone through? It would've broken a lot of people. Hell, it broke me," and he let out a laugh that was utterly without humor, "it broke Cait, it probably broke Gabriel - but not you. You keep pushing and keep fighting and you've never even considered quitting. I was ready to give up and you wouldn't let me. And whatever weird cosmic force unlocks bows and asswings recognized that in you. The same way I do." His voice was gentler at the end.
"What happened in that werehouse wasn't your fault. It wasn't even the Negaverse's. It was Jaysen's, and whoever the hell she sold her soul to, and that's it. She tricked us into an ambush, and I don't really see a lot of fault in trusting your own sister." He moved one hand to reach up and brush his thumb across Lance's cheek. "Your capacity to blame yourself is limitless and frankly a little ridiculous. You didn't do anything wrong. You haven't yet."

"Do I need to remind you of our little argument in the bedroom? I broke remember??" It had broken them all. There was no way around it.
"Of course it's my fault. She was my sister. My family. And I believed her like the fool I am. You got caught, and were almost hurt-" There was a silent, but heavy and worse that floated around as Lance paused. "Because of me. And then I went ahead and put myself in that same exact situation by trading places with you. God Alistair, I could have gotten us both killed! I very nearly got you killed!"

"Exactly! She's your sister, there was no reason to suspect anything - you weren't a blind fool, I didn't see anything off either." Alistair said. He moved his hand to stroke Lance's hair, fingers running through the soft golden locks. "It could've gone worse than it did, yes, but it still wouldn't be your fault. Leto survived, I survived, you survived, and nothing -" he swallowed, trying not to think too hard about the threats the General had made - "nothing worse happened. Did it?"
He hated himself for asking, because he didn't want the answer.

"There was reason! I was a blind fool Alistair, don't you get it? She knew it was me from the start. She knew who I was but I didn't know who she was! You got grabbed because of me. She knew I'd come powered up, and someone told her that we patrol together. I got played." Big time.
"Leto survived, barely, hell technically she was dead for a second there, thanks to a corrupt. Someone outside our court. We did nothing to save her." Lance shifted again, this time sitting up, forcing Alistair to move and sit in his lap. "I couldn't stand hearing the things that man said when he had you..." He muttered as he buried his head into the crook of Alistair's shoulders. His arms wrapped around the brunette's waist, and Lance held him tightly. He didn't ever want to see Ali in that kind of position again. "I could have lost you... In more ways then one.."

"And so what? She played both of us, yes - because I followed you, I didn't stop to think either, all I heard was 'Jaysen is in danger'." His lips pressed against the top of Lance's head when his boyfriend tucked against his collarbone.
"If I ever see him again, he'd best hope I somehow don't recognize him because I am going to rip his heart out and feed it to him if I do." Alistair wasn't normally violent, but there was something about the threats that General had made - to him and to his boyfriend - that had settled a deep, roiling anger in his gut. "It didn't happen, and it won't, alright? Nobody but you is ever going to touch me like that."
