So, well that had happened.

Yet another eventful trip the Sahara under his belt and he had to be dragged back to Deus in the aftermath of it. While in pain. Or passed out from the pain. All the things. A bit of it was trickling upon him, waking him from the slumber that had been induced partly as a defense mechanism of the body as well as by the Life labs (maybe, he could have hoped).

"Huh...." Milo groaned out, the cloud in his brain finally starting to clear as recollection finally came back to him. His back kind of hurt, that had been from his attempts at shielding Noemi as best he could from the fireball of blue fire that had engulfed them all in the last ticking moments before that wonderful feeling of blacking out took them all over (and well, screaming). His cheeks as well, actually his face as a whole. It had been one of the few uncovered parts of his body besides his hands and lower arms, all having taken the bite and burned and now wrapped. Now it explained why when he pried his eyes open it looked kind of murky. Gauze and bandages.

Huh. He ached, he tried not to move but he shifted somewhat since his legs seemed alright.

< You've been out for a while, aho > Koume's always pleasant voice chimed in, answering one of those unspoken questions he had probably piled up. < One of those ghouls you gave a color to seems to be making rounds. > Huh, she seemed to be trying to be helpful? < No, I just wanted to point out she hasn't stopped by to check on you. > Oh.

Milo would have shrugged but it kind of hurt to do so.

In Peyton's defense, there were a lot of rounds to be made. A lot of her time went to Noah, he was her boyfriend, and her friend, he needed her. At least she hoped he did. She hoped her presence was a comfort to him, his would have been for her if their places had been reversed. She was grateful America had not been present, or Taym(though he was in his own hell, of that she had no doubt), it was hard enough having A handful of of newbies and a good friends injured, how would she have been able to handle everyone she gave a damn about hurt?

Easy answer, she wouldn't have.

So it took her a little wile to get to Milo, but she did make it. Sometime during the first day, or maybe the second, honestly she was no longer sure, time was moving around her, but she wasn't really aware of it. The only way she knew it was day, and not night, was the press of sun behind the drawn shades in various rooms.

A soft knock tapped against Milo's door before she peeked her head in, and seeing him awake, she offered a smile as she stepped into the room. "Howzit Green?" Some of them had been burnt worst than others, and she took a second to look the tall Sun over, lingering on what bandages she saw.

Honestly, Milo would have expected as much from anyone; not just the three girls who had been given a color (since he didn't exactly know which one she was referring to). He wasn't anyone's boyfriend, best friend or any matter of significant relationship moniker. At most just an acquaintance, neighbor, person in the Sun division but at least hopefully at least a friend to some as he valued them to be. Which was why he wanted to just shrug off Koume's comment, letting it slide, but the ache in his back didn't allow him to do it. Mentally he managed.

When he heard the knock on the door, the Sun expected it to be one of the Lifers on their rounds, perhaps with bandages or something, alerted somehow that he had woken up. What he heard though brought a smile, that kind of hurt because of his cracked lips but there nonetheless. "'Ello Yellow," he replied hoarsely. It sounded more akin to 'elo 'yel' than anything, thanks to his throat being as dry as the Sahara (haha, get it?). He found himself caught between a gurgle and a gag that turned into a long rasp as he tried to sort it out on his own. Urg, he needed water.

The bandages she would find were mostly on his forearms, hands and face. Nothing too bad considering what others might have had, but they were still crispy and burnt (and it felt worse than any sunburn he'd ever gotten like ever). Milo would have wanted to make a joke about how he might look like one of those people who had just gotten plastic surgery on their face and was just waiting for the unwrapping and big reveal. Maybe he would get to it. There was still a chance but right now his mouth hung agape and he was making a face from the weird taste in his mouth.

The girl flashed him a smile, then went straight for the pitcher on his bedside table so she could pour some ice water into a plastic cup with a bendy straw. That was held out to him, close enough for him to simply sip it while she held it(moving hurt, after all), or he could take it to hold himself. It didn't matter to her, she just wanted to be helpful.

"How're you feeling?" After he'd gotten a drink, or taken the cup, she hooked her ankle around the leg of the chair beside the little table and pulled it closer so she could take a seat.

At a glance it was obvious Peyton hadn't been sleeping enough, there were circles under her eyes, and though she smiled, her features held that telltale tightness of worry. She looked as though she was more or less living in the infirmary, which was more or less true.

<I know you're worried about them, but I'm worried about you. You need to sleep. You need to eat a real meal.>

Soon, she promised him. Always soon. Never now. Warrick gave an audible sigh through her mind, but he didn't try to push her.

Carefully Milo lifted up one arm after the other, his vision was obstructed a bit but he could at least make out the shapes of Peyton moving about and holding something towards him so he needed one hand to loosen the hold of the bandages around his eyes - no, they weren't damaged, probably the life tech involved with getting him wrapped up just was a little zealous or something - and the other hand to actually grab hold of the cup.

He took a sip.

I took a try or two to get the straw in his mouth properly without moving too much.

"Better." He replied, clearing his throat from the intake of liquid. Well, that at least felt better, he couldn't say much for the rest of him that was sore and tingly and throbbing just a bit. The Sun had to be thankful he hadn't been wearing any less clothing at least, so he couldn't complain really. Wouldn't even. (There were always episodes when the hero would be bandaged and keep going after all). He had to tough it out.

"You okay though?" He had to ask, he hadn't seen her in the tent after all but if she was able to walk around then that meant she wasn't there. Didn't get hit like the lot of them. But she looked ... well, not too great.

"Good." Hands free, she settled back as comfortably as one could in the hospital chairs provided. Really, they hadn't seemed all that bad in the beginning, but after waking up in one a few times she had changed her opinion. Her body held an overall soreness that was completely unrelated to sleep deprivation or the previous mission.

She blinked at his question, smile slipping a little. A few people had asked her that, and she wondered what she would see if she looked in a mirror. Really looked. "I'm worried," she admitted honestly, lips pressing together in a strained line. "And I'm not sleeping great."

With a little bit of blind luck, and at first landing on his thigh, Milo managed to get the bottom of the cup rested on the side of his bed. He, of course, kept his hand on it so it wouldn't fall off. But he kept his attention on Peyton as she leaned in her chair and answered his question.

It was a stupid one really, maybe even something he shouldn't have asked; a little obvious, right? Mentally he kicked himself, Koume added in as well on how someone talked to ghouls - but was really glad he didn't comment out loud about her appearance. "Aa, well, understandable, ya?" He tried to smile but the bandages made it a little hard, they were in the way a bit, "we probably looked like a sorry bunch coming back, ya? Kinda blacked out." Then he thought about it, "usually black out when I come back from there." Still, he let out a small laugh, "weird."

"You playin' nurse to more people?" That was thoughtful.

Honestly, she didn't blame him for asking. They'd all been through something awful. Just because she'd missed the barbecue didn't mean she was fine. Half the surprise came from anyone burnt and bandaged being able to focus on anything other than their own pain. She wouldn't have blamed them. It made her smile brighten up again, the corners of her lips twitching. "A sorry bunch is one way to describe it." It had been one of the worst feelings, watching them all being brought in, covered in burns.

"The Sahara is no joke." Understatement of the year.

She settled a little more comfortably in her chair. "Yep. I've got half a dozen of you crispy critters I'm keeping an eye on." Bad joke, but hey. At least she could make jokes now.

If asked, Milo probably wouldn't be able to give a good solid answer as how he was managing his pain. Probably a number reasons; his burns consisted mostly in his arms and face, the morphine might have been at awesome levels and he was just trying really hard not to move too much. Might prove a little difficult given time for someone like him, hopefully it wouldn't last too long - to which Koume insisted she was working as best she could (with a hiss).

"Aa, ya! Totally getting that impression ~" He grinned despite everything. But really, this and the mission with bugs. Clear signs and all. Milo carefully lifted his cup again, least to tip it or something, and took another sip of water before settling it back down.

He watched her for a moment. "But, like everyone came back at least, ya? Nothin' like too bad?" Couldn't imagine how some people had fared, but like, no one died right?

"The more veteran hunters go pale at the mention of the Sahara." It had been her first clue that the desert was to be avoided whenever possible. When it wasn't possible, it was not to be taken lightly. It seemed to her that the majority of the horror stories she'd heard from friends and colleagues had taken place in the Sahara.

At his question she offered a reassuring smile, leaning in her chair to prop her chin up on her arm. "Everyone should make a full recovery within a week." That was what she'd heard at least. "Which is a real relief, for everyone injured, and for my nerves."

Instead of just repeating himself, Milo simply gave Peyton's observation a small curt little laugh - and then regretted it a little with how it had made his upper body jump a little and thus made his back move and that wasn't awesome. Ow. But seriously, all making so much sense about the Sahara.

Still, no one was claimed by the desert this time around, "dude, that's awesome. Seriously." He met her smile with his own, as best he could as his back settled and stopped feeling like someone had rubbed course burlap against it or something. Weak analogy, Koume even commented on it. But whatever. "Week ain't so bad, think any longer the lot of us would go a little lolo, ya?" This time refraining from chuckling, but at least he kept on the smile he could manage while he just sat there.

"Think you should go get some rest though, Yellow. A week, we're fine for the most part. Ya gotta make sure you are too." He would have wanted to hold his hand out to her but his own body was preventing him - though it was mostly Koume hissing at him to not ruin all her hard work. The most he could get was a tilted head in her direction and an attempt at puppy dog eyes.

She nodded, a smile slipping into place after a second. "Yeah, a week isn't bad." Really, after a day she was finding that most of the injured were going stir crazy. Not surprising, considering that there wasn't a whole lot to do in the infirmary. That was part of why she was making the rounds. Worry, of course, but she felt incredibly sympathetic towards those stuck immobile in a bed. She'd have gone crazy.

His second question had her blinking at him, and she frowned. "That obvious, huh?" There weren't many mirrors in the infirmary, and she hadn't been spending much time in her own room. "You're probably right." Which didn't mean she would listen, but it was a good idea.

But if it was a hint, Peyton would take it. Getting to her feet, folded her arms, shoulders hunching in a small stretch as she fought off a yawn. "You heal up quick." Her first impulse was to give his foot a pat, but she didn't want to touch him. She didn't want to cause him any pain.

It hadn't been his intention to make her leave, really because he liked the company. But honestly, if it meant she was going to go take a nap or something and start getting rid of those dark circles under her eyes and that worry then he was all for it. "Just a little." He jested, risking a little bit of pain and discomfort to raise one his arms and lightly gesture to his eyes. It didn't hover for too long before he let his arm fall back down to his side again.

"Take it easy, Yellow." He smiled back at her as she got up. "I want a spar when I'm all nice and healed, gotta make up for these days in bed and all."
