A shriek jolted Zanthvos out of his slumber, limbs tangling in the bed sheets as he scrambled to vacate the proximity of the bed before his mind caught up to the situation at hand.

"Big brother!" Came a pitiful wail from the next room over, followed by the sounds of a small child weeping.

"Ahh, so that's what it is." He chuckled to himself. This wasn't the first time, nor would it be the last, that he was woken up in the middle of the night by the fretful nightmares of his little sister. With a exaggerated yawn he stretched his limbs and glanced around his bedroom for a overcoat.

He still wasn't used to having his own body back.

"Do not fret Micah, For I shall save thee!" He called out, long strikes taking him out of his room and into a long hallway. A few doors down was his destination, and opening the door he was assaulted by the usual extravagant finery that was becoming of a demon household, followed by the extra trappings that all little ghouls desired. Stuffed minipets littered the area, followed by nightshade flower patterns covering the walls. In the centre of the room was a large bed, and the occupant of said bed was cuddling a oversized foxfire toy, tears streaming down her cheeks.

"Zanny...I had a scary dream." She sobbed.

He frowned at the obvious distress the ghoul was in, a few steps taking him to the edge of the bed where he sat down and drew the ghoul close with a one armed hug. "And what did this scary dream entail?"

The ghoul hiccupped, her feathered wings all ruffled up thanks to sleep. "T-there were these big tall h-humans, and they had these white coats with funny pictures. a-and they were chasing me, a-and then I saw you, b-but a giant hand g-grabbed you and took you away again!" She began to wail even louder, and Zanthvos held her as she wept into his shirt.

"Shhhh~" He cooed, patting his sisters head to soothe her. "There's no need for tears. It was just a dream. No white coated humans are going to take me away, I can assure you."

"B-but...i-isn't that what happened before?" Tearful red eyes looked up at him, wanting to know the truth. "Mommy says you were kidnapped by them, before the horsy people came and saved everyone."

"Hmm, is that what she says?" Heh, saved, what a glorious load of bullshit that was. He was pretty dam sure everything had gone to hell thanks to their 'saviours'. "What else does she say?"

"Well, mommy says that the horsemen made everything better. They made it so we could live here in the human world, and we could go scare humans anytime we want. And they made all the white coats go away too, so they can't hurt us anymore." She looked at her big brother, her gaze pressing him to answer. "Is that true?" Her eyes turned fearful at the dark, troubled look in his eyes. "Zanny?"

"Hmm?" He laughed and tousled her hair. "Oh! I do apologise, I was spacing out there for a bit. Well I suppose that is...sorta like the truth. It's close enough. She is right about one thing though." He hoped the silly grin on his face would hide the pain that was just beneath. " The white coats are all gone."
