Despite his past of being a follower of Lucifer, Mammon is kind and peaceful to all of those who are mutual in attitude. Being locked up in Hell, he has very little knowledge of human culture and has to rely on the memories of his vessel. His time in Hell also resulted in him getting some sort of PTSD, constantly paranoid and on guard even though there is no danger.

Mammon was one of the angels that was sucked into Lucifer's side in the war in heaven by being promised false rewards, but his only reward was being thrown down to Hell where he and the rest of his brothers and sisters were tortured beyond description. At the war council in Hell, where Lucifer announced his plan to bring about the fall of mankind, he was the only angel to support his sister on protesting against his plan, saying that it will only make matters worse between them and God. Of course, none of their words were headed to and Lucifer went forward with his plans.
When he came back from Earth, Mammon noticed that he had changed in nature. He became so obsessed with power that he made himself self-proclaimed ruler of all of Hell. Afraid of the other angels trying to rise up against him. He created an army of demons to hunt down and either kill or capture any angel they can find. Mammon and his sister, Belial were running for their lives across the wastes of Hell, trying to escape the hoard of demons behind them. As they ran, they came across the gateway to Earth, their only way of truly escaping Lucifer's grip, but it was closing fast. Mammon sacrificed himself in order for Belial to escape while he fought off the demons as long as he could. They captured him and threw him in a cell in the deepest, darkest circle of Hell along with the rest of his brothers and sisters that were captured. He remained there, tortured beyond belief, mangling and scarring his true for to the point that it was almost unrecognizable, until he was mysteriously released to Earth.
