Rayolun was out wandering the jungle about Lasarra's village. Well, not really about.. but near.. ish… He snorted and shook his head. Okay, truth be told, he wanted to go hunting and wandering. Trying to stay in one place was such a challenge! But Lasarra didn't seem to mind.. mostly cause she had her job to do. Maybe I just need a job or something, then I'll be able to feel less unsettled. He sighed and shook his head. Hinting was what he knew, hunting and the sea. Oh well. I'll figure it out later, he thought with a sigh. Rownin, his small Roati, barked gruffly from the tree's bas. Looking down from the brand he was perched on he looked at his companion. "What?" The roati barked again eagerly and circled the tree. Must have the scent of something he wants to go hunt, Rayolun thought. He jumped down and landed near Roawnin and immediately saw what the roati wanted.
Menzuri.. again. "What is it with you and Menzuri? You don't know how to fight those!" He sighed as Rownin pawed as his leg, wanting to be off.
An idea occurred to Rayolun. "Well… I did tell Gerraden that I'd go and take him hunting…." He murmured speculatively. He grinned and motioned for Rownin to follow. "Come on boy, let's go get him." Rownin was puzzled.. this was not where the tracks led! But.. master went this way so he followed…
Rayolun smiled as his memory served him right when he spots the Shifter village. He jumped out of the trees and walked towards it, keeping an eye out for guards or the like and hoped they wouldn't mind him intruding.

(pssst they live just outside a shifter village XD) The hyrbid male was at home, helping with chores as was expected of him by his mother. Splitting wood, and such things like that weren't all that interesting.. he had joked to his mother he would try to chop the wood with his sword but the look he had gotten from her was so intense that his smile even faltered. Despite explaining to her that it was a joke she told him to put his sword away whilst he was doing his chores. Bah. The sound of the axe blade cutting through wood echo'd in the immediate area. His father was out doing trade in the village, he had a better time of it than his mother since...well being a pure blood alkidike she tended to intimate everyone. Even Gerraden got looks from time to time, due to his natural height advantage from his mothers genes. Thunk. Another piece of wood cut, it really was a boring chore....and with his sword so close by he wondered how much harder it would be to use that instead of an axe...

jayoku Okay! XD I edited it above... not to big a deal :3 Oh ho ho... I tags right after you do! Hearing the thunk of an axe nearby, Rayolun wandered over to it. An axe meant a person... and said person could help him find Gerraden. As he got closer he smirked. Well, lookie there! It was Gerraden doing chores! He sauntered in and spoke to his adopted brother. "Doing chores? That's one reason I don't live in a village... "

Gerraden stopped as he raised his axe into the air, looking a bit surprised to see his 'brother' of sorts a grin soon spread across his face. The axe blade came down in a dramatic fashion before it split the wood cleanly in two. The pieces fell to the ground with a small thunk. Leaving the axe blade i the stump he was using to cut the wood on he wiped the sweat off his forhead. "Well its do chores here or be dragged into town to shop with my father and people arn't too keen on my ...white skin to want to trade with me. So my father has an easier time alone. Mother is out hunting so I gotta do something. The axe is kind like a small great sword so its a good work out right?" He spoke as he went up to Ray and clapped his friend on the shoulder before enveloping him in a one armed quick hug. "And how are you doing Ray? Its been awhile."

"People are idiots," Rayolun said, "though chores sound better than shopping to me.... " He returned the quick hug before looking around in interest. "Just wandering actually, waiting for Lasarra to finish up getting her house to right so I can take her to the sea.I figured since I was in the area, I should see if you were in. Plus, I do recall a promise of taking you hunting..." He said with a teasing grin. Rownin, his Roati trotted over and sniffed at Gerraden's feet. "Rownin here found some Menzuri tracks, you up for a hunt?"

The new name got Gerraden pondering, Lasarra? He had never met a woman by that name and it made him ponder to who she could possibly be. Ray had already established he was an only child, which was why Gerr had adopted him to be his brother of sorts. A sly grin spread across his face as he lightly elbowed his friend. "Oho did you find yourself a pretty girlfriend? You sly radaku you." He teased as he gave a laugh, "I'd love to meet her sometime." Gerraden managed before releasing Ray from his one armed hug and stretching his limbs. Looking down at the interesting fluffy looking creature that he had never seen in the forest before. Sure he had seen people with such pets, but only from a distance. Squatting down he offered his hand to the small animal, "You know I've seen these creatures around..but they aren't native to Jahaur are they? What are they called?" The hybrid questioned as he then looked up to Ray as he mentioned that Menzuri tracks had been located. "Eh? Hunt a menzuri?" Gerraden inquired with a slight pause, it wasn't that he was afraid of the creatures, his mother had only lectured him a bunch about how dangerous they could be. "Sure! Let me grab my sword!" Standing up he went to retrieve that axe he had left in the log before reconsidering and leaving it there, he then went over to where he had leaned his weapon against another tree and slung it on his back. Eager to get going, despite the fact he should of been more concerned about their quarry. "Lead the way!"

He grinned and elbowed his brother back. "Yeah I did! You'll have to meet her one of these days. She's like you. Though she favors the Shifter side more." She smiled, they'd probably both get along. he bent down to scratch behind Rownin's ears. "He's a Roati. I found him in the ocean. Guess he got swept out to sea or something. I think they're from Zena.... He likes Menzuri, keeps finding their tracks too. We had trouble fighting the last one we ran into." Havng Gerraraden along meant that they cold take it on. Rayolun knew he could take it on alone.. in certain circumstances. But he wasn't willing to court death or loss of a limb just to prove it. Better to take a brother along to help! When Gerrarden came back out, he lead the way to where Rownin had found the tracks. "Hunt." He said shortly to Rwonin, who eagerly jumped to it. Finally the command he'd been waiting for!

Gerraden had to give a smile after all seeing Ray with a 'girl' seemed almost surreal. He'd love to meet her sometime and then he could introduce Ray to his own 'girlfriend' of sorts. Watching the raoti move off to track a large and dangerous beast made him chuckle a bit. The creature looked like a prey animal so the fact it was eager to go find a predator seemed ironic. "Ah I am glad you came by brother. I was getting tired of chopping wood. Been trying to build a house in the tree's and I am discovering that its a lot more difficult than I thought it would be originally." Gerraden managed with a long sigh as if life was so terribly hard. He had just the barest of the floor plan worked out and it was already starting to fall apart. Though his mother and father tried to help him he found that it was more like they were trying to stop him from accomplishing his goals. "So we are off to hunt a menzuri huh? Trying to impress your girlfriend?" Gerraden began again returning to tease his brother of sorts.

Rayolun chuckled. "No. I was going to just leave it and let Rownin sulk.. but I recalled that you lived near here and I did promise you a hunt." Impress Lassara? She was already impressed enough. Why bother putting on airs? "I don't need to do stupid stunts to impress her. She likes what she see's already." He said with a confident smile. "Besides, why hunt something dangerous and get hurt or killed if I don't have to? That's just stupid."

Gerraden let out a bout of laughter, after all if this wasn't to impress a girl then hunting something large and dangerous was just them being stupid wasn't it? Well he never professed to be the smartest of the bunch and he would just follow Ray's lead. "Alrighty then, though I still think we may be the stupid ones here. Hunting a menzuri after all. Though if I could gather some of their webbing I could sell it at the market. Its poison is good for putting on blades as well for use in traps. Or their crystaline bodies can sell for a lot... too bad you can't train the beasts...they seem too ..stupid? Nah maybe too smart to be trained by the likes of people." Gerraden rambeled, he couldn't help it it was after all his first time going on a hunt with his brother and it was exciting despite the fact he declared that they were being dumb going to hunt such a creature. "So why does your roati like them? Wouldn't something as fluffy and small as him be a snack for a menzuri?"

Rayolun was amused at his brothers rambling. Didn't he know that talking on a hunt meant the prey heard you coming? "I think he likes them cause I keep saying no to hunting them. Like a forbidden toy or sweet he wants it just cause he can't get it? Something like that...." He said with a sigh as he looked around on the ground for the tracks. Rownin's tiny stub of a tail was wagging furiously, he was just happy to go hunting the shiny things! They were different, he'd never seen any before coming to he jungle! Ray found what he was looking for and motioned Gerraden over. "This is what their tracks look like. When they make them that is.... They don't leave much of a scent trail and have no fur to shed like Rownin so tracking them's hard. From here on, we've got to keep quiet, they aren't old but not fresh either so the Menzuri could be close. Voices will alert it and it'll flee, hide, or attack before we get it if that happens." Might as well give him tips and teach him about hunting, rather than just have his brother tag along!

Gerraden gave a half smile at the reply, a forbidden toy huh? If this roati actually met a menzuri he was pretty sure the creature would change its mind pretty quickly about wanting to find them. Heck normal people didn't want to be caught off guard with a menzuri around what would this fluff ball do? "Well I think it would regret finding one once he did." He replied with a laugh, "After all it would literally just be a snack to one of those things." Gerraden put a hand over his mouth after being told that voices would alert it, great and here he was just rambling on. "So..be pretty quiet?" He managed in a whisper.

Rownin looked disaprovingly over at Gerraden and gave a hoarse bark before turning back to his 'tracking.' Ray just shook his head and smiled. "He thinks he can take it on... despite the past encounters." He whispered back; "Silence is best. No loud yells as you charge." He headed to the trees, trusting to Rownin's obsession to keep the roati on the trail. "Keep an eye out for other tracks.. Menzuri as just as agile in the trees as they are on the ground." He gave one last piece of advice before heading off to follow the tracks.

Well where was the fun if you couldn't charge in with a loud battle cry? Ah well he nodded his head as they continued to move along. It was hard for the young man to remain quiet, after all he enjoyed speaking with his adoptive brother and he didn't want to just ...waste this opportunity to be with him.
Giving a nod of his head as he looked around, he pondered how much Ray knew about Menzuri. His mother often berated him for being careless and would repeat the same warning each time he went out. Watch for the webs...it was the webbing you had to be wary of the most. The poison that was on them was enough to cause hallucinations even on humanoids.
So he kept an eye out for webs, only giving a tap to Ray's shoulder when he spotted one that was broken , the wisps of it hanging limply in the wind. He pointed to it and then gave a gesture that they were probably getting close.

Rayolun kept an eye on Rownin as he sped along, knowing the foolish roati would charge with a yell at a menzuri. Rownin's tiny stub of a tail was wagging furisouly and he was moving faster; that meant that the scent trail was strong and fresh. He paused and looked over when Gerraden tapped his shoulder and pointed at the web. Close by then.. and probably on the ground... He leaned over to whisper in his brother's ear; "I think the menzui is on the ground. Do you want to attack rom above with me or from below?"
