It was the smell of blood that caught the scholar’s attention.
The normally peaceful colony had little experience with blood, except for when the military got overzealous in their trainings. That smell was small, merely a hint on the breeze.
The smell of blood that drifted across Hu’s noise was strong and metallic. It hit him with a particularly violence; the blood was familiar.
“Ua,” he gasped under his breath, his eyes widened in shock as he recognised his own daughter’s blood on the breeze. His body tense for battle, though battle was not his strong point. All he could hear was his heart beating in his throat as he took off through the trees, desperate.
OOC: The Situation
Council member Hu's 'daughter' Ua is missing, presumed seriously injured.
Hu has called a meeting, after searching the forest and being unable to find her. Night is falling. Pride members, and rogues in the area have all been asked (well, demanded) to be there.
The fifth council member (contested here) is oddly absent.

Zuberi'amiri glanced up at the canopy of leaves above, eyes narrowing as night gradually grew close. He, among many other leopards, had been called for a meeting. Why, he did not know. However, the spotted leopard didn't dare to idle about; as a council member, he believed it his duty to hold role and present himself punctual.
It did concern him, the meeting. By standards, a gathering would usually have notice and taken place when the sun was still high. This summoning... it was spontaneous and unplanned, to say the least. His tail twitched in thought.
Claws digging into the bark of the thick branch, Amiri hopped to the next closest tree, dark eyes scanning the area. Following the faint tracks and other signs of a recent body moving through the area, the defense councilor soon spotted the striped orange pelt of Hu. Gritting his teeth and narrowing his eyes, he hopped down a few more branches towards the floor, the smell soon hitting him; blood.
Although blood spill wasn't common in Elimisha'sombea, Amiri had smelt his fair share. A small growl of caution rumbled through him as he landed on the foliage of the forest ground, dark eyes swinging to the leopard. "Who's?" he snapped shortly, not at all meaning the tone towards Hu; it was simply how he was. The blood didn't smell familiar to him but then, the leopard didn't doubt any blood wouldn't smell familiar.

As the time came nearer for Scheherazade to wake she found herself still yawning as she made her way to the meeting. Beside her walked the Tutor, Mchezaji, and on his back resided Mingmei, who despite knowing him longest, had aided her paws to the councils call.
Despite her usual avoidance of council meetings and propriety, Scheherazade found herself taking concern. The night was for the stars, the spirits of the dead and the souls of the living to join, not for the council to talk. It was...odd to say the least. She walked almost lazily until the smell hit her; it was faint, but...
"Scheherazade?" Mchezaji questioned, taking hesitant steps beside her until he could see Hu and Zuberi'amiri. She had yet to take notice of the two males, or of the other female. There was something off about her this evening...almost as if her mind was sharp for the first time since being on her own.
Mchezaji stood fast beside her, looking around for any others that had heeded the call. He had to know; what had disturbed the peace for their peaceful pride? He'd been told something, but it had all been vague and rushed in the urgency.
Taking a deep breath, the illuminated Scholar turned her head, catching conversation and seeing only other council members. Besides Mchezaji, they had been the only ones to come as of yet. She crossed the distance between them, remaining silent as the others asked the questions she herself wished to know.
After patting her leopard friend's head, the older hare hopped from his shoulders to the ground. The jolt of pain to her arthritic hips wasn't one she had been expecting, but it didn't stop her from advancing on the pale leopardess. She stood at Scheherazade's paws, placing one of her own on the younger females leg to comfort her, though she was sure it would be Scheherazade to find the odd logic in it all.

There's Drama Lurking Celestyn had made his way to where he was told to gather and settled in a tree to wait for others. He was quiet, unsure why exactly he had been asked to come, and somewhat suspicious. He wasn't the strongest or greatest of his kind, in fact his lioness companion, who was asleep by their resting place for the evening, was more the fierce warrior than he. He did, however, enjoy the company of leopards, and when he was told a leopard colony could use his help, that they demanded he meet them in the forest as soon as his paws could carry him there... well, he did not say no.
From up in a tree, he watched as several leopards gathered, almost half a dozen now, and some smaller animals as well. He listened to their speaking, it didn't seem threatening, and most seemed as confused, or concerned, as he was. He decided it was safe enough to get closer.
He made his way down the tree and stood on the outer bounds of the group. An orange leopard, who seemed to be named Hu, seemed to be the center of attention. "I was.. I was told to come and help. Told to meet here." He said quietly, unsure if anyone was aware he was even there.

There's Drama Lurking "Sameforme." Romano said as he approached Celestyn. He too, had been recruited to come and assist in... Something. He wasn't sure what to be honest, all he knew was that he was awoken abruptly by a bird flapping madly in his face. Next thing he knew the creature whisked itself away and Romano was left to follow it's trail along the tree tops. He had done so tiredly, yawning carelessly as he marched along a stretch of moss covered branch. That's when he smelt it. Blood.
Becoming curious he lingered closer and closer to what he assumed was the source of the scent, hoping over branches to reach it faster and pondering what or who it could be bleeding out. But a leopard came out unexpectedly. The other male had instantly demanded he, Romano, a passing rogue who meant to stay only the night in their presence; assist this colony of theirs with some sort of problem they were experiencing. Thus he was now dragged into the situation currently, and on his way down the trunk of a tree he had been in for quite some time. He noticed that he had spoken fast, almost too fast to hear clearly what he had slurred out of that mouth of his. "Same. For. Me." He slowed the words down, making sure he wasn't speaking too quick.

If it had not been for the dire circumstances, Hu would have been buoyed by the spirit of the pride coming together; but that was not his main concern. He nodded to the council members who approached him (though one was oddly missing - he had not been seen all day, despite Hu's vigorous searching for his offspring). The rogues who lurked nearby put him on edge, a niggling thought dancing in the back of his head.
Who could have done this within their safe colony?
He threw aside that thought for the moment, breathing in deeply and trying to calm his nerves. His voice was husky and low, each word deliberate.
"My daughter, Ua, is missing. The blood you smell on the breeze, now fading, is hers. I have searched as far as I can on my own, and I have found no sight of ....her." Was it 'her remains' now? It had been hours since the blood had reached his nose. He dare not think of it.
"I am asking for help."
On a normal day, that phrase alone would have killed the formerly solitary leopard. Today was not the day for old petty thoughts.
Ardhira'i had also come at the call, but she slunk in quietly, trying not the be noticed. Mostly because she was absolutely covered head-to-toe in assorted herb juices from her latest experiment with potions that had - unfortunately - exploded in her face.
Who knew herbs could explode! She smiled to herself, at the thought, but Hu's words were sobering.
She gasped. Not Ua!
"You have my paws to help search," Ardhira'i said, stepping from the shadows of the trees nearby, her expression set. The usually light-hearted and ditzy girl's face was set in stone. This was a life that hung in the balance.
The grumpy female had taken a position rather close to the council members when the meeting was called, her cold eyes scanning the crowd and lingering on the unfamiliar faces that were presenting themselves.
Strangers.
Hu's words brought a similiar reaction from Kianga as had from Ardhira'i.
"As well as mine." She said, softly, her voice surely to be lost in the reactions of others.
Arcus was lingering in the tree tops, but Hu's words sent him to the forest floor. He hit the ground with a graceful thud, his eyes brittle and cold.
"We will do this strategically," he snapped, claws clenching in the ground. He would be the first to deny that he had once, many moons ago, had a crush on the fair Ua, but that wasn't why he was so determined.
Someone had shed blood in his pride, the one he was supposed to protect.
He would find the one responsible, and they would pay.

Her heart clenched within her chest as a sheen of ice cloaked her blood. If this had been her daughter she would not have wasted any time in running after her, but then she would not have told others where she went. Though she wouldn't dwell on it, Hu's choice was the wiser.
"I will guide those who search in the night as best I can." Scheherazade spoke up, her voice rare in it's louder volume. She knew Hu did not normally ask for help, much like herself, which gave her words strength. "The stars will help show us the way."
Ua? Not Ua! He hadn't spoken with her often, mostly only in passing, but he could picture the lovely leopardess in his mind's eye. Mchezaji couldn't bear the thought of something happening to her.
And even though he wasn't a fighter or a particularly good tracker, he stepped forward, determination in his gaze. "You've got my paws."
He looked about him, a nervous acceptance of the strangers in his heart. They were new to these lands, as he had been, and whether or not they stayed they would help. But, then again, what if it was one of them that had done it...?
"Use the avians," came the suggestion from the older hare. "With their wings, twice as much ground can be covered while the rest do their searches through the land and the trees."
Though she wasn't sure exactly how much of a help she would be, Mingmei would try. If anything she could hitch a ride with one of the leopards and be another set of eyes.

There's Drama Lurking
Nan had heard the call go out for help. Though rather socially awkward, she in truth loved others very much and cared for their well-being. Thus, of the twins, she was the one who had answered the call. She loped onto the scene beside her twin sister, and situated herself directly in front of Hu, who clearly was in charge. After all, she and her sister were experienced investigators, so they should be afforded a position from which they could gather the maximum amount of facts, right? She was oblivious to the wary looks they received from any of those who belonged to the colony. To her mind, they would welcome them with open paws.
Needless to say, Hu's brief tale of woe touched Na's heart. Oh, his daughter! She flashed a look of concern at her twin, then turned her nose to the breeze, spreading her nostrils wide. Yes, yes, there it was. She rose to her paws, her whole body orienting towards the scent of blood, eyes half-closed as she tried to get as much information out of it as she could. She stopped and looked over at her sister. "Tempy? What are your thoughts?"
