A peaceful pride dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge and safety, the Tree Dwellers are colonised by leopards and their familiars. The leopards claim the treetops of the thick jungle as their home, while Familiars roam the forest ground. Leopards may use the ground for travel, but the ‘dens’ and homes for the leopards are in the trees.
Dedicated to safety, the Tree Dwellers do have a defense force, but it is intended for defense, not offense. Sentry (Guards) and Warrior (Soldiers) forces are maintained to protect the colony from danger. Many in the pride's defense forces believe that knowledge can be found through fighting and strength, not only through the collection of knowledge.
The largest segment of the pride is made up of Scholars. Scholars pursue knowledge in a variety of forms, and take ranks to reflect their dedication to learning and understanding the world.

Frequently Asked Questions
Question |Are Hybrids or other species accepted? Answer | Other species, no, they're not. Only leopards are allowed. However, hybrids are, but only until they are adults. After that, they are free to visit, but they cannot permanently reside in the pride.
Question |Does my leopard need a familiar to join? Answer | Not at all! They are encouraged, but they are not required.
Question |Can I have my leopard bound to So-and-so's familiar? Answer | Of course, if the other person agrees. This is perfectly acceptable.
Question |Can my familiar join on it's own? Answer | Yes. It'll be more warmly accepted on their own if it's not a prey beast, however prey beasts will be accepted if they make their intentions known early to the leopards...or they may end up eaten. Accidentally. Prey beasts are encouraged to bind with someone quickly, to have protection from accidental ingestion.
exclaim Question |Are multiple mates allowed? Answer | Short answer, yes. Long answer? The pride does not enforce many beliefs on it's members, but anyone who has multiple mates might be treated differently by each individual pride member, as this is a personal decision. Anyone with multiple mates should be pre-warned of lots of questions of 'why' by curious pridal members.
exclaim Question |My leopard isn't really...smart, or strong, is there a position in the pride for them? Answer | The pride is mainly focused on those who are intellectually inclined or physically fit, however the pride has a 'hunter/ess' rank that does not require either of these factors. Also, just because a leopard is not overly clever, does not mean it cannot take a scholar rank. Scholars are of all intellectual levels, it's all about learning, not what you already know C;

 5 Leopards who rule over the pride with equal sway. When it comes to important pridal decisions, all council members will be called forth to cast their vote on the correct decision.
They are considered to be either the strongest (from the defense force), or wisest (from the scholars) of the pridal members. *This is a RP heavy rank If you don't finish a roleplay in 6months in the colony/no activity is shown, you will be demoted to another position relevant. If life is happening, just talk to me c: this can be waived.
// . Scholars

Mind-Reader // Dedicated to the study of the mind. Also, for all the crazies in the pride. *Unlimited
Law-Speaker // Dedicated to the law of the pride. They work closely with the Defense force. *Maximum of 3 Leopards

Apprentice // At adolescence, and occasionally juvenile, the cubs are required to take on an apprenticeship, either directly under one person or under a rank. *Unlimited. *Default Adolescent Rank

// . Out-Of-Pride-Ranks ::: Ambassador ::: Can be any species, from allied prides. There can only ever be ONE Ambassador for each allied pride – this rank must be confirmed with the owner/s of the allied pride. You may get certed with this rank, but it is more of an ic rank.
(Preferably, familiars would get their own cert and rank, but as I believe that is currently not possible for SoA, these will be IC ranks mostly, but Familiars will be listed separately in the members list under these ranks.)
 Must be bound to the Council Leopards. Cannot take this position otherwise. Any species.
--
Assistant Any species. Unlimited. *Default Familiar Rank.
Spy / Scout (Serval, Snakes and Avians) For Defense - many use familiars as spies and scouts in order to protect the colony.
Hunter/ess (Serval, Snakes, and Avians only)
Nanny (Any species). Usually bound to Tutors, and act as nannies to Young Familiars or Young Leopards.
Youth (Any species) *Default Youth Rank

 Species // Only leopards and familiars are accepted within the pride, with the exception of ambassador ranks. Hybrids are accepted until they are adult, and are then asked to leave the pride. They are allowed to visit, but may not stay within the colony permanently.
Familiars // Familiars are treasured by the Tree Dwellers, especially amongst the Scholars as they are essential for many to research and gain further knowledge. The Defense forces favour the more aggressive type familiars.
Familiars, especially those which may be classed as 'food' beasts, MUST be bound to a leopard. Else they run the risk of being eaten, or being treated as a threat....
Religion // Many believe that knowledge is more their religion, however the Elimisha'sombea worship an assortment of gods. Their religion is more of a personal thing, dependant on whom you ask, rather than a pride-wide religion.
Mates // Most will take only one mate in a lifetime. It is seen as a union of two minds, two bodies, and is something that should be taken seriously.
However, multiple mates in a life-time is not considered terrible, just more unusual. Flings/Rogue Breedings // Not unaccepted, but not encourage either. Cubs are seen as the next generation of knowledge and strength, and so are celebrated no matter what form their parentage takes.
// CeremoniesWhilst the Elimisha are not religious, they do have a select few celebrations which are supported and continued throughout their history.
. . . [ Selecting the Council ] The Elimisha believe in equality. So much so that, anyone can apply to a vacant council position. However, there is some ceremony involved.
If the applicant is a Scholar, their test will be a mental one - the current council will construct a series of riddles and tests to ensure that the person applying is a strong thinker.
If the applicant is a part of theDefense force, their test will be that of physical strength. A member, or several members, of high ranking positions within the sector will battle the applicant - and it is only if they win most, or all, of their battles that they will be approved for a council spot. (See Battle System post for full details). . . . [ Birth ] Births are done on the ground, in a specific den which is guarded by wardens at the time of the birth. Whilst this is not a pride-wide celebration, it is tradition for the new mother to, once her cubs are safely delivered and cleaned, to carry them into her tree-top den. It is then the mother's decision whether she will return to one of the medic dens to raise them until they are able to climb, or whether she will raise them in the tree tops.
. . . [ Death ] ... . . . [ Times of Peace ] Feast of Peace - literally, a feast of food designed to bring together the pride as one. It also allows the borders of the colony to open, the guards standing down and allowing rogues to get into the colony. A very anxious occasion for some, and a welcome one to others. . . . [ ]

This is open!
Yes, this is the concept I developed over a year ago, I had been very keen on this idea and then got thoroughly busy with my first year of university. Now that I'm settled, I really want to get this concept going again. <3
