Personality:
As a little girl, Cecilia frequently lived in a world of fantasy, losing herself in stories of princesses, cruel villains, and fantastical beasts. Her favourite character, however, was always the hero of the tale. The ones she admired were brave, strong, and kind—all the things that a young and impressionable child could look up. With the state of the world being as it was—humanity being forced prisoner due to the presence of the titans—it was more than enough for a young child with an overactive imagination to imagine herself in fantasy scenarios. Some days, she was a brave heroine who had just saved the king from a rampaging titan. Other days, she went even farther and used some kind of great magic to eradicate all titans and bring peace to the world.
Even now, at the age of 15, she has yet to shed that—what many people would consider—childish persona of hers. She still likes to think herself a heroine of sorts, and as such, possesses a strong moral compass. Unfortunately, she also falls victim to black and white thinking, believing that people can only be either wholly good or wholly bad in fairytale fashion—one would be hard pressed to get Cecilia to admit that there is an in-between. Titans, on the other hand, are even more quickly judged since she thinks them all to be evil.
Naturally bright and cheerful, Cecilia enjoys engaging others in conversation, always eager to make a new friend. That being said, she will approach and animatedly chatter with someone regardless of whether or not the other wishes to socialize. She has the tendency of inserting herself in others' personal space bubble without realizing it, and is unfortunately tends to be a little unaware of the fact that not everyone is comfortable with being in close proximity to her.
She's not very good at judging a situation or a task, frequently underestimating the amount of work that it would take. Fortunately, she possesses both a good work ethic as well as an optimistic attitude--as such, Cecilia is usually not the type of person who would simply give up when faced with a difficult task. She may not be particularly clever or particularly skilled, but where she lacks in these aspects she makes up in sheer determination and hard work alone.
The makings of a "good heroine" have been ingrained in her by this point. Although she can be a little reckless, there can be little doubt that Cecilia possesses a great deal of bravery--for better or for worse, she is unafraid of throwing herself into situations that others would balk at, particularly if it involves having to defend someone else. Her courage is fueled by a hint of recklessness, but it her sense of "heroic duty" and her compassion contribute to it. Cecilia genuinely cares deeply over the well-being of others, feeling distressed herself whenever she sees someone who is upset.
All in all, she is an idealist at heart. Cecilia believes that there will be a day that mankind will be freed from the titan's tyranny, allowing them to finally emerge from the cage of the walls. As she sees it, the military--more specifically the Scouting Legion, of whom she admires greatly due to the fact they face off with the titans personally--are the heroes here.
...And heroes will always win, right? So she would like to--and genuinely does--believe, anyways. Needless to say, though she means well, Cecilia is really very woefully ignorant to the horrors of the world outside of her little fantasy world. It is only a matter of time before that bubble of hers is popped, and the only question then is how she will--or if she even can--cope with disaster.
History:
Born into the Shinganshina District in Wall Maria, Cecilia is the youngest child and sole daughter of the Allegri family. Her parents and older brothers tended to coddle her, believing it best to shelter her from whatever horrors they deemed unnecessary for her to know about. Although they allowed her to go and watch whenever the Scouting Legion was leaving for an expedition, there was always someone to keep her from going out when the legion was returning. Cecilia knew, of course, that deaths and injuries were common, but knowing of the losses and actually seeing the gore and the anguish were two completely different things.
Her family is very close. Although they are not very wealthy and sometimes struggle to make ends meet, Cecilia is fortunate to have people who genuinely care about and love her. Her mother and father own a modest little restaurant where she and the second-eldest brother help out in. Her eldest brother, wishing to bring in a little more income for the family, enlisted in the military and serves as a Stationary Guard soldier who is stationed right in Shinganshina. Cecilia occasionally drops by to visit him, and while she cannot say that she approves of the fact that he and the other soldiers are usually slacking off and playing cards, she cannot entirely blame them. As she sees it, hanging around a giant wall is certainly less "exciting" than the work of the Scouting Legion soldiers. Still, so long as they keep up on the upkeep and care of the wall, Cecilia sees little reason to worry--they've already managed to make it a hundred years without incidence. With any luck, the next hundred years would pass in the same way.
When not helping out at the restaurant, Cecilia can be found off daydreaming somewhere or, more commonly, either reading or writing. Her favourite stories are still the ones with the cut and paste heroes vs. villains, but when she's particularly adventurous--or just has the idea or muse for it--she likes to write her own stories. Her notebooks are filled with little short stories or fictionalized, journal-style writings of her "adventures", with some pages being filled with detailed sketches and drawings of titans--her rendition, since she has never seen one for herself--the Scouting Legion, and herself fighting in soldier garb.
For now, her parents and brothers are aware of her apparent admiration for the Scouting Legion, but think little of it since she has never expressed an explicit desire to join outside of her writings and daydreams.
