For General Mica, it was business as usual. Day in, day out, Mica went out, collected energy and starseeds, and at the end of every week, she'd make her way to the Rift to make her report. One would think that at her rank, there'd be so much work to do, such as making reports on soldiers, handing out assignments, training and disciplining the lower ranked officers, but Mica did so little of this. No, it was either work that the General-Kings and Queens did or other generals did, and Mica was simply not invited. She was never invited to much of anything, and that was just fine with her.

After all, she had an important 'clinic' to run, in which case she had her hands busy doing... well, just about nothing. And that's what dug under her skin some.

When she had made the decision to give up her rainbow crystal in return for a medkit, she was hoping that she would have found more use in the Negaverse. There were always some fight going on, either big or small, and she was told that there was a need for a medic among the ranks. While she was no doctor, she did have some medical training and wouldn't have minded taking charge as a field medic. So long as she was useful.

However, no one ever called. No one ever requested medical attention. Perhaps she had not put out enough of a notice, or perhaps they had all wised up and simply had no use for someone with EMT training and a magical medkit that replished itself? Or maybe that just took one look at her and would have rather have taken their chances with gangrene.

"Whatever."

Still, there was hope. She had met one other who shared a similar interest and perhaps held more knowledge and an easier access to supplies. His name was Lieutenant Amethyst, and she decided it was time for them to discuss business plans. Perhaps someone with more experience in the hospital and a friendly face would attract the sense of being useful that Mica desired? This was why she asked Buddingtonite to summon him to the Rift, and this was why she waited, arms crossed and no foreboding spear in hands for once. She was going to be useful to the Negaverse in one way or another...

Sorry for the short opening... Mica lives such an exciting life, I tell you.

Amethyst hadn't forgotten at all about his first encounter with General Mica and the little discussion that they had back then. Quite on the contrary, he was looking forward to meeting her again following his recovery and had every intention of working out with her the details of how exactly they could utilise the medical training and knowledge that they had to aid their wounded.

It was business as usual for him since he was declared fit to return to his normal duties earlier in the week and he couldn't help but put off his promise to get in touch with Nyasa until things lightened up at least later on in the week. What he hadn't been expecting though, was returning home from work mid-week to find Buddingtonite seated on his couch with a cup of tea he had helped himself to in his absence, shaking his head while he lightly chastised him for having the audacity to have his superiors waiting on him.

He had followed the redhead to the Rift without another word, a sordid expression on his face when he realised who it was that had requested the meeting as he briefly considered if he had antagonised Mica by not contacting her earlier to arrange for the meet up. Nevertheless, he lowered his head a little as he approached before he addressed her with the utmost respect accorded to one of her rank.

"General..."

It was always good to see Buddingtonite follow through with his orders, in the very least, as Mica was easily able to spot Amethyst as he approached her. He appeared much healthier than the last time she saw him, and that was enough to put a faint smile to her lips at least. Buddingtonite was no where in sight, but it hardly mattered to her. She'd be the one bringing the lieutenant home this evening, she figured, so why ask the other to stick around for what he'd likely consider to be a boring meeting. Boring for Buddingtonite, but not so much for the two of them...

"Lieutenant," Mica fired back, her tone polite though one may have suspected that there was an undercurrent of snark in it. What she did not know was that she had never given her name to Amethyst, and that Buddingtonite failed to do the same. Still, she was never opposed to being addressed by her title for the first few visits. It simply made her feel respected and perhaps after a few more visits she'd feel more comfortable calling her by name. "Thanks for coming. I hope you're feeling well from our last visit. How's your arm doing?"

Old habits were hard to overcome and she had to restrain herself from reaching over to check on his shoulder. If anything, it was likely he had more up to date knowledge on medicine and healing, but still, it was second nature for her to meddle. "Do you know why I called you here?"

Amethyst lifted his gaze to meet Mica's fleetingly when the General acknowledged his presence, not at all noticing whether Buddingtonite had chosen to hang around till his meeting in the Rift with the General was over proper. "It's just as good as it was before the dislocation injury." He responded without any delay when Mica inquired on his recovery, nodding a few times when she went on to ask if he knew the reason behind her request for Buddingtonite to track him down and bring him to the Rift to meet her in person today.

There was no way that he would forget what they had briefly discussed during their very first meeting - a medical unit that would put what they already knew to good use for the betterment of their fellow Negaverse officers. He remained silent for a bit to contemplate on whether what he was about to elaborate on would come across as an excuse to the General but decided to go ahead with it nonetheless.

"The sling came off earlier this week. I actually meant to get in touch with you later in the week when things at the hospital have lightened up some." He stopped again, his head dipping low now. "My apologies General. I'll gladly take any punishment you deem fit in view of my tardiness."

"That's certainly good to hear. The Negaverse needs as many good and capable officers as it can get," Mica said, a rather warm smile on her face though one could question if it was genuine or not. Chances are it wasn't all that genuine and more akin to just being polite, but that wasn't up for debate and she didn't care. She didn't need to coddle Amethyst and that's what she liked about him.

She shook her head at the notion of punishing him for being late, as she really couldn't think of a single punishment that she wanted to inflict on him, especially when it was unwarranted. She wished more officers could be like this one- smart, obedient, not stupid or vain or petty. "I can only imagine how busy it is, especially given this city. Don't worry about it, you're here now, and there's things I'd like to discuss with you, if that's alright."

Amethyst lifted his gaze a little to meet Mica's now, sincere and polite as always while he thanked the General for not meting out some form of punishment upon him for not getting in touch with her prior. "Your kindness and willingness to overlook this... incident is greatly appreciated General." He meant each and every word he said with every fibre of his being, having heard of countless accounts of certain Captains and Generals within their ranks who were more than happy to inflict various types of punishment upon those unfortunate enough to cross their paths just so long as they had a reason to base them on.

Tipping his head again, he smiled at her words, all too eager to get right down to business now that he had gotten that apology out of the way. "I would really like to hear more about what you have in mind and how you think I can be of service to your cause."

It almost humored her to know just how intimidating she came off to others without every once meaning to. Through her actions and perhaps her demeanor, she had come to realize that she carried a certain reputation, and for awhile she was wondering if she should have been annoyed or flattered by such things. If it garnered fear from her enemies and respect from her allies, then perhaps it wasn't such a bad thing?

"There's no need for that. You're in my good graces and even if you weren't, I hardly have the authority nor the desire to do such a thing as punish you for such a minor slight," she said, deciding to let the matter go and move on to the more important issue, something that she was certain that the two of them felt passionate about. "Besides, the Negaverse is in sore need of one with your skills and knowledge, as well as your assets. You have a way into the hospital, something that I found we've been needing more and more these days. I'm sure you're aware of just how difficult it is to get an officer there without questions being asked, not to mention the matter of obtaining supplies."

She motioned to the medkit that dangled from her waist with a glance as she continued. "It comes with the basics, but given how our enemy uses magic and how potent it is, it won't cover everything. You would have an easier access to that, at least until I get my own affairs in order, and I would be willing to assist in either the payment of such supplies, or the cover-up, should you feel that would be a problem?"

Money Richard could handle, the cover up? She could do that part herself, if Amethyst was too screamish to do such a thing...

It was heartening to learn from Mica's words and the way the General carried herself that she was a reasonable and just individual who wasn't in favour of abusing the power and authority she had earned during her term of service within the Negaverse. Amethyst observed, innately glad that their paths had crossed and that they're having this conversation together right now.

"A-Assets?" The Captain gave a light cough, his cheeks suddenly flushed as he quickly tried to dismiss from his mind the notion that Mica was possibly referring to his balls or babies when she used the term assets. Seriously, where did that thought come from in the first place? Must have been Richard's influence and teasing. Yeah that had to be it.

Focusing his thoughts back on the discussion at hand, he gave another cough, hoping that the General hadn't noticed his earlier flustered expression. "I've done it before. Just a few times but I'm just one person unless there are others among our ranks in the same hospital who can help cover our tracks." Taking a moment to glance at the medkit at her waist, he nodded. "You're right General. It will be best if we're able to have our very own infirmary the way I see it. Where our wounded can be tended to and recuperate if necessary. But I understand that this... project will no doubt require a significant amount of resources and manpower to sustain." He stopped for a bit to consider what was avail to him, weighing them against what they would need for the task ahead of them.

"I can help with the monetary aspect as well but by cover-up you mean..?"

She was initially confused with Amethyst's seemingly flustered reactions, but the confusion didn't last long at all. After thinking about what she had said and the phrasing, she immediately realized her mistake and her stone expression faltered a bit as she shook her head. "It seems both of us have spent too much time with Buddingtonite. I'm sorry, but there's nothing sensual about anything I said."

Then, to add further confusion because it was oddly fun and Buddingtonite also thought she could do with a little more fun. "Unless you'd like it to be. I'm not sure exactly how 'friendly' you and Buddingtonite are though admittedly you don't seem the type."

She wasn't sure if he'd take the bait and she didn't really care. What she did care about was the connections he had, and she almost beamed. Almost. "Good. Those willing to assist in our cause, regardless if they're officially part of the Negaverse are not, are always welcomed. I'll like to have names, numbers, addresses, should we need to enlist them further of course. For now, if you haven't told them you're part of us, then let it remain a secret. If our enemy doesn't know they're assisting us, then they can't be a liability later on.

"We'll certainly need more people, though..." She tapped a finger to her chin in thought, and devised a small plan. "Pick a handful that you think might be willing to join our cause, but be sneaky about it. Drop little hints, see if they're willing to bite. Those that are willing, we'll enlist- if they're not and they pose no threat, leave him be. If they do, then call me, and I'll deal with them."

She felt she didn't need to elaborate anymore on that topic, so she answered his final question. "I simply don't want this leaking to our enemies. I don't want them to think they're doing us such harm that we'd find such a thing necessary. Keep them in the dark, let them grow distraught in how infallible they think we are. Do you understand? We can show them no weakness..."

"That may indeed be the case General." So much for hoping that the good General would not notice his flustering as a result of the tangential thought processes that were of his own doing. Amethyst nodded a few times to concur with Mica's statement, all too eager to put the misunderstanding behind them so that the conversation could be redirected back to what they were talking about initially.

What he wasn't expecting however, was the General following up with what seemed like an offer for them to get cozy with each other. He blinked, his cheeks beginning to burn again at the awkward situation that he had somehow managed to land himself in now, a little part of him dying on the inside. "I'm not." Just how exactly should one go about rejecting a General who had made such a proposal without risking her wrath and condemnation? "Besides, I'm... already dating someone." He muttered, his head lowering slightly while he hoped that just stating the facts as they were would be a satisfactory answer to Mica.

"Understood. I haven't told anyone at the hospital about the Negaverse but I'll get you a list with the required information as soon as I'm able to. Perhaps Intelligence could then assist with cross checking it to see if we have any agent amongst them." He suggested, giving the plan she was proposing some thought before deciding to tell her about a certain relative who was also medically trained alike himself.

"I have a cousin who may be able to help. Name's James Ashford. He's a Psychiatry resident at the same hospital that I'm working in." Although the Negaverse might not have any use for the specialty that James was currently training in, the fact still remained that he was a doctor and hence trained in the skill sets that they would be interested in. "Roger that General." That plus they would need all the help that they could get as Mica had already rightfully pointed out.

There were few times when General Mica smiled, and even fewer occasions where that smile was genuine. There was something about Amethyst that brought that out of her, though she would never openly admit it to anyone without some strenuous effort on their part. The more Amethyst flustered, the deeper her smile got and eventually she had to reign it in before it went too far. Yes, she could definitely see what Buddingtonite saw in him.

The mention of a previous relationship genuinely intrigued her, though for different reasons. She arched an eyebrow and tilted her head ever so slightly, as though the concept of 'dating' was too foreign of a concept for her. "I'm not sure that's such a good idea, considering the current state of affairs. However, tell me your date's name, so that I know to avoid engaging her, or him."

It was more than others were probably willing to offer, but Mica figured she could spare a person or two. It would have been awkward if she attacked Amethyst's significant other, especially if they might be someone that was assisting in obtaining their supplies. He dropped the name of his cousin, and just like that it was back to business again. "He'll prove useful to us, then. I'll see about planning a visit to him myself--in civilian clothing, of course. If anyone is to inform him of the Negaverse and possibly recruit him, it should come from you first."

She rather liked these talks, and more so, she enjoyed the feeling of respect and fulfillment the most. Who would have figured it'd have been Amethyst to be the one that brought purpose to her life in the Negaverse again?
