Sticks and stones could break your bones —
— and trying to build with them in the snow could put your mental health at risk.
Kirala had been out here long enough for the sun to move elsewhere in the sky, and when she looked up at them, those weren't the same clouds she saw before. The weather was mild for this cursed land (blessed, if you asked its royal family), but for how long was crucial to her success.
She was getting old enough that age slowed her down. Stopping her was another matter. If it took all day and all night, she'd build this structure to completion. As a hare with limited vocabulary and exposure to the outside world, she didn't know quite what to call it... Two walls made of sticks that leaned together and gave her son ample room to run under them. A tunnel, almost, but with a different shape and above ground.
Bisra had one when he was small, and she hoped the nostalgia would sweeten his sour mood.
Nature had other plans. A gust of wind came through, more than strong enough to topple all her sticks over. It brought some of the white powder back to the space she'd worked so hard to clear for its foundation, too.
"Might as well try once more..."

These lands, Jana had to admit, were super-duper cold. He was getting used to the chill on his paws, but slowly. Half the time, he tucked himself in his large lion's thick mane and stayed warm that way, but Jana wanted to explore - to meet the other hares in the pride, and Fasa was asleep.
So, he decided, it was time to venture off without his companion and brave the colds. He was pleased to find that the wind, though it kicked up in harsh gusts every so often, was mostly calm, so he bounded through the snow, searching for another to talk to.
He was getting quite chilly when a strong gust of wind pushed him off his paws and into a bank of surprisingly soft snow. It took him a moment to pull himself out of the bank and onto an uncovered stone, sneezing for his effort.
He shook out his fur and looked around, only to stop a light brown hare.
"Hello!" he called out amicably, hoping to garner the other hare's attention.

Kirala jumped at the shoulders. With the snow softening his footfalls and her hearing diminishing she hadn't noticed any visitors until he beckoned her. "Hello there," she called back, trying to put a name to a face. They were a modestly sized pride overall and she felt silly for not being acquainted with him already. That son and her lioness friend kept her so busy...
"Can you lend a paw?" she asked, standing high on her hind legs to better see him, ears erect and rotated toward him.

The white hare hopped forward a bit to come closer to her, looking down at the sticks and assorted stones that littered before them. It looked like the skeletons of a structure, and he looked back of at the doe.
"I'd like to," he agreed. "What are you making?" It was a curious thing she was doing, but it looked fun! And if he could help, that was all the better. He didn't quite know what she was doing, though. Even if she could explain it, he wasn't terribly sure if he could at all.
It was worth a shot though!
