The sun was rising on a new dawn as the large Mer stallion was resting in the mouth of the river system which drained from his herdlands into the vast sea. He knew An'jeli must have been still sleeping up in the underwater cove he called his home upstream; or she would have come down the channel and met up with him. His ears slid back against his head as he had been having a hard time sleeping since meeting back up with her, his mind in pieces from all the new information and sorrows he'd received. How could he have let this happen?
His heart ached, as much as he tried his best not to show it. It ached for all of the loss as of late, a part of him furious he still couldn't remember much of her and the life they had shared prior to their recent rendezvous. What had he done? What had happened to him? As much as he strained and tried to remember...nothing came but a blurry blackness. All he knew was this was all of his fault, and he needed to make it better; even if in the end what was best for An'jeli wasn't with him. However, that was some time from now, he needed to focus on getting her strength back up; and then hopefully the rest would fall into place after that.
With a deep sigh was water rushed past his lips, he lowered his head and bonked it lightly a few times on the rock he'd anchored himself against from the current. "Damnit, homes...you really messed up."

An'Jeli woke slowly, the world obviously a watery and blurry mess. She had been kept medicated for awhile since everything had happened so that she could heal and it really felt to her like she was coming out of a deep dark cave and seeing light for the first time in the longest time. Fuzzy, was it possible for water to be fuzzy because if it were then it most definitely was right now. She roused herself and swam gracefully out of her sleeping spot and slowly headed towards the surface. Before she could make it to the final destination she spotted J and 'Jeli hesitated. She didn't know what she was supposed to do now, he had been taking care of her but at the same time.... He had left her, he had left her so long ago it seemed now. Did he want her to just go away? Hesitating, she watched him.

Before he could even dwell any further in his thoughts, he could feel the vibrations of the water change from that of its smooth glide against his skin. Turning his head around he spotted her, stangnant in the water as she simply watched him. His eyes softened, wishing he could remember more about the mare as the sun's rays danced on her pale body with the motion of water. "Anje..." He spoke, with a thrust of his tail coming off from beside the rock and drifting a few feet towards her. J didn't get too close though, he didn't want to push any boundaries.
"How...are you feeling?" A slightly nervous tone came out on such usual deep and strong vocals; well, he knew she probably wasn't feeling well...but still. "I could go get you some sweet kelp, if you're hungry." Again, he just felt like he couldn't really do anything right; a vast change from his headstrong 'I can do anything' attitude just but a week ago. All he knew, was he just had to make things right no matter what the cost.

'Jeli stared at the stallion for a moment and then nodded her head gently. It was kind of him to be willing to offer her something to eat. Unbearably kind. She really wished that she had a clue where she stood with him. Did he want her to get better and then leave? Or did she dare to hope that he wanted her to stick around for a different reason. It would be stupid of her to get her hopes up. So incredibly stupid. That was something that 'Jeli found herself quite capable of doing though, being stupid.
"Y-Yes.... I would like something to eat very much." She really didn't want to deal with everything that was going on in her life right now... If anything else bad happened she didn't know what she would do with herself.

"Good.." The stallion smiled, flicking his head just a little to get the hair to drift from his eyes. Although the bandana did a decent job of keeping his mane in check the long pieces still managed to get in the way every now and then when the current was right. Allowing his body to move he swam around behind her in a graceful movement, slowing himself to be at her side. "Come, we'll go slow. I would feel better if....perhaps you came with me." I'll get the kelp though, we'll find a spot for you to relax."
He hoped such a request would be alright, as much as he knew it would probably be best if she stayed behind and he swam out to get it...J-dawg also had a gut feeling that perhaps leaving her alone, even if for such a short time wasn't such a good idea either. He just hoped he was choosing the lesser of two evils. "Its not far, Anje....just enough that you don't feel the fresh water current from this canal."
