The days had gone by rather quickly since he first stepped out of the pod. His nice warm pod. And so far he'd experienced things that, if he had told to anyone he knew, would never be believed.

Luckily for him he didn't have to relay such things to anyone on the outside. He didn't have anyone else. Plus he was pretty sure he'd get smacked around for telling anyone anyway, so that was perhaps the best part.

He had figured his way around Deus mostly. Getting lost only twice when trying to find his dorm. But all this technology stuff still had Zascha in a bind. Staring at his phone which he had settled onto the table, he flicked it with a finger. Sending it spinning around in a circle before it rested stationary once more. Someday he'd figure these damn things out.

Now, as for the food at the place. He could do with perhaps something better. A nice beef sandwich. Or a baked potatoe with sour scream and butter. It made his mouth drool. But reality drew him back and he poked at the MRE that sat in front of him with a fork.

This...this is where he drew the line!

Pounding a fist on the table, his fork clattering against his tray. Zascha ran his fingers back and forth through his hair in a rapid movement. "Do they want me to starve?!" He payed no mind to anyone who gave him odd looks from his outburst as he gripped the edge of the table with his hands and gave it a small shake.

He needed at least....ten of these things to even settle his stomach. Looked like he would be making some runs to get some food to squirrel away in his room sometime soon.

You're making a scene. Gothsmog hissed at him.

Zascha clasped a hand to his ear, cupping the gold diamond shaped earring with the long red tassel. His weapon's unsommoned form. "You don't have to eat..." He replied back telepathically.

Green eyes now turned towards the girl who had obviously noticed his outburst. It was fine by him, Zascha was not shy about his feelings. He sighed lightly and slumped on the bench with a defeated posture. "I would be if they knew how to cook a nice, hearty meal. I feel like I'm on a diet." He missed his younger sister's cooking. Now she knew how to cook to fill someone's belly.

He pushed the tray across the table with a finger before drawing it back towards him. The tips of his fingers were still numb from the Sahara mission earlier, though it seemed to have lessened over the past few days. Which was good.

Clearing his throat, Zascha straightened out the plain black shirt that he wore. "You going to come over here or are we going to continue to talk across the room?"

Good. That was better. She could have just told him off for being so forward, but he figured now that they had started some kind of conversation being at the same table at least would be appropriate. Of course, he could have just moved himself. Zascha mentally shrugged.

Picking up his fork again, he shoveled a couple mouthfuls of food into his mouth. Giving it a thoughtful chew before swallowing hard. Her question made him think before a wide grin spread across his cheeks.

Standing up, he tugged at the edge of his shirt and slipped his phone into the pocket of his worn jeans. "I don't know, I'm still kind of new to this whole place. But how about we find out what they are hiding back there?" He eyed the double doors on the far wall where he had seen some people run in and out of. Although no one had come and gone for a while so he figured for the most part that whatever kitchen that was back there, if there was one, was fairly empty.

No one would mind if they snooped around a bit. Of course not.

Not so much awkward as to he liked to think to himself quite a bit.

He motioned for her to follow him. Casually strolling closer to the double doors. There wasn't really anyone else besides them in the cafeteria for the moment, so now would be their chance. To slip through the doors before someone started asking questions.

Glad that she decided to go along with his plan.

"Just act like you belong in there and I don't think we'll have any trouble if someone starts asking questions." He glanced around once more before pushing his way through the doors, stopping a few feet on the other side to wait for her to follow.

Zascha rubbed his side lightly at her elbow bump, shooting her a cheeky grin. "Well, some might argue that since you decided to come along on this little adventure with me. But we'll look past that for now cause you're kind of cute." He gave her cheek a soft pinch, kind of like how a grandmother would do, before moving past her further into the room.

It was as if angels were singing when he saw it. A giant refrigerator against the far wall. For something so big it must of be stock piled with goodies inside. At least he hoped. Oh god he hoped.

Once he got closer to it he pressed his cheek against the cold, grey metal doors. "Ah what treats do you keep I wonder..."

I wish you were as passionate about your duties and missions as you are about food. Gothsmog sighed in frustration.

"Well, stick with me and I can guarantee quite a bit of fun." Zascha hated just sitting around twiddling his thumbs all day or doing paper work. Or anything that he could probably get someone else to do. He liked to adventure. To explore. And he hadn't gotten to do much of that since he arrived so he was itching to get out and get a good look around.

Maybe he'd head off into the wilderness of the island for a few days. Camping and surviving with the bare minimum was something he did all the time before everything happened and he found himself at Deus.

As if on cue, he took a few steps back. Clasping his large hands together and giving them a furious rub in anticipation. "Yes, but if I don't open it I can't be disappointed if there is nothing in there." But still, he wanted to see what lay within. "Go on then."

Zascha held his breath. His heart pounding in his ears. Everything was going in slow motion as the door took its dear sweet time opening.

When he finally got a good look inside, his jaw felt as if it could hit the floor. Shock and awe was the only way he could describe how he was feeling. "What the s**t?!" He moved towards the fridge, shoving half his body inside as he inspected every empty shelf. Every bare surface before stepping back.

Dumbfounded.

"Who has an empty fridge?" Green eyes looked towards her curiously. Then he turned on his heels and shuffled over to a nearby cabinet. Flicking the door open. Nothing. Not even a can of beans. He continued down the line. Opening each cabinet one by one and slamming the doors shut again.

There wasn't anything in here!

Turning back to her, he put his hands on his hips. "Display model maybe?"

After he had checked every cabinet, Zascha moved back over to her. Leaning his elbows on the counter next to where she sat and plopped his chin in his hand. It just made no sense. He tried to run over scenarios in his head as to why Deus would have an empty kitchen, but Zascha found that when it came to Deus nothing had an easy or comprehensible answer.

He turned his head slightly in his head so he could look at her. A wide grin on his lips. "Now that's the spirit. We'll find where their hiding the food if it kills us." Standing up straight, he tugged at the end of his black shirt. "Which just might." Zascha laughed.

"The question is where to start. Any ideas?"
