The auction was nearly booming this month with owners coming in to either buy new pets or show off the ones they have. Each person wanted to gloat or find an even better pet than the other patrons that had attended the 'party'. the pets were all quiet unless spoken to or ordered to answer, but one owner was drinking down another glass of wine and sighing, dragging Kit behind her by a leash.

the collar was harshly tightened around the boy's throat and most people would have struggled to get away. but the heavy cuffs on the boy's wrists, ankles and all the bruises on his body showed that struggling no longer became a safe option "I'm so bored with these parties. . .why did I even accept the invitation?! can someone bring me more wine!!"

"only a little. apparently, he was sold into the ring at a young age but I don't know by whom. the lady there is his 3rd owner but. . .well, you can see master kit that she's a drunkard. she's known for beating, burning. .basically abusing her pets." Rinda said and glanced to the man before looking back up to see the woman backhand kit for not handing her another cup of wine fast enough "shall I have your cousin escort them out, sir?"

"yes sir." she said and bowed before walking over to call the lady and kit over to heart. the woman hiccupped and tilted her head in confusion, but she walked over anyway and threw kit down to kneel when they stood in front of him "t-to. . to what do I owe the p-pleasure?" she said and hiccupped again

"w-what?! you can't do that to-" she began to shout, but rinda took her shoulders with a calm smile "my master owns a large firm and actually owns the very building you stand in, my lady. so yes, he can. this way to the door" she chimed and walked away with the screaming woman. Kit watched them leave and opened his mouth to try and talk, a bit confused by what was happening. he looked up at heart with bewilderment on his face as well as tears in his eyes

Kit looked down hearing the orders and nodded, but he closed his eyes instead feeling the soft hands running through his messy, dirty hair. he didn't even remember what a gentle touch was like. when rinda came back, she chuckled and put her hands behind her "sir, I think this boy might be a good fit for you. you two look perfect."

"but, you plan on taking him in none the less?" she asked, almost a ring in her voice as she walked over to pet kit's hair back. the boy was nearly smiling from the gentle attention and the relaxation, but he looked up at heart when he mentioned the jobs he could do around the mansion ,"perhaps a butler can work. the poor boy has been trained to serve."

kit staggered for a minute before he looked to heart and followed after him calmly, glancing from heart to rinda as the maid took her coat off to cover the boy's frail body. when they arrived at the mansion, rinda took kit inside and removed the cuffs on his ankles and wrists to leave him standing straight before heart "welcome to the Heart mansion. now is the time for a very, very important decision."

rinda hurried without a word and poured nearby wine for heart, but glanced to kit who stared at her master before turning his head to look over the large home. it felt warm, comfortable and didn't seem to hold as much darkness or pain as the other home carried. it felt peaceful almost. Kit turned his attention back to heart and walked over before kneeling in front of him again, putting his head beside the man's hands
