The moon and stars stood as sole beacons in the blackened city, where flashlights soon spread their pale fingers across the streets, chasing away moving shadows. Soon concerned voices followed, shouting names well-recognized into the darkness, soliciting the dark for small curiosities. Floodlights on generator power soon boomed to life, identifying rare bastions of solace throughout the vast city. And surely enough, one such safe house found limelight beneath a pair of towered floodlights.
The roof of the vast department store offered few concessions. An air conditioning unit sat silently, affording a meager measure of cover to the sprawling, open rooftop. The roof itself held no angle, thus providing proper footing, and the tar paper encouraged good grip should the standoff come to blows. A thin lip outlined the edges of the roof, standing a foot tall at best, though only a pair of unopened Cherry Coke canes lingered on its surface. At the far side of the roof, behind the ominous figures, sat a single hatch flush against the floor. Beneath was a narrow ladder into its depths - an escape route? A small measure of solace for those powering up?
The series of auric energies projected by Negaverse officers produced a beacon of their own - an unmoving indication of trouble brewing across the city, if the mass blackout wasn't indication enough.
Orders
Quote:
Your mission is simple: stall any approaching White Moon for as long as possible while General Benitoite's operation completes its goals. General Buddingtonite will provide any and all direction for this facet of the operation henceforth.
Some of you will act as hostages taken by the Negaverse - false White Moon senshi or knights taken forcibly. Play up your parts, and give our opposition a reason to back down and go home. It is imperative that you act convincingly, and in no way offer up your identity as a Negaverse agent. As stated previously, if the enemy disregards our bluff, all agents must lag behind until the senshi are out of sight. Afterward, all officers should transform and give pursuit.
Hostage handlers will be instated, offering an additional layer of motivation for our enemy to retreat. Play up your willingness to torture or murder your taken hostage to the enemy. However, don't lose sight of your top priority - the plainclothes officer assigned to you is entrusting you with their lives. Do not, under any circumstances, put them at jeopardy. Do not let them fall into the hands of the enemy.
The remaining officers are thusly deemed guards - the final team to reign the situation back should anything happen to put our officers at risk. They are to engage the enemy in any forcible reclamation of hostages. And if we lose a hostage handler, one of the guards will step in to assume the role.
While you are the first line of defense to the enemy, your main priority is to buy time. Don't forget this.
Additionally, this facet of the operation is not worth your lives. If you find yourselves in mortal danger, retreat. Nurse your wounds. Regroup. And once you're certain of your ability to carry on, pursue our enemy and kill them all.

There was energy in the air tonight... sourceless, Cinnabar could nonetheless feel it like static crawling over her skin, making the fine hairs stand up and her whole body thrum with the need to move, to do something, to break the mounting tension... but an iron will held it in check, allowing only the wild widening of red eyes and a sharp bit of a smile to cross her lips.
Tonight would mark Cinnabar's first real, large-scale mission... the first time she was able to participate in something more than just random scuffles with senshi and monotonous energy gathering. And, for once, she was even cooperating with her fellows in relative obedience to the orders she'd been given. Mostly, it was because the effect of tonight had been appealing... the promised portal would be a major step forward in the war against the white moon, but it could not be denied that the chance to wreak a little havoc was also rather appealing.
When it had come time to take up positions though, Cinnabar had firmly claimed the space well in front of where Galena played hostage with Schörl as captor, boots firmly planted and hands braced on her hips. She might be burning for a fight, but when she had found out the other lieutenant was putting herself in one of the vulnerable roles, a sense of protectiveness had warred with her blood-thirst.
Red eyes slanted a glance over her shoulder, but she kept her expression to little more than a line between her brows as her smile faded. Above all, the hostages had to be kept safe... and for once, she accepted her leash with grace.
Misha had tossed her out into the night. The power went out on the block of their apartment, and as they drove they saw that it had gone on pretty extensively. He smelled something fishy and honestly, so did she. He had said it would be good for her. That it would be a simple check up on whatever was happening and chances were that other senshi would be out too. She only went because Misha told her too, not because she wanted to. Really, the order from her brother did nothing to calm the sickness roiling in her stomach. It seemed like every time something went awry it was the chaos and the order got ambushed. It was like they were the retarded mice that kept going for the trapped cheese and not learning their lesson. Every time something like this happened they got shocked or snapped at or burned but they kept coming back. It wasn't like Acubens was allowed to sneer; here she was with the rest of them. She could feel order flickering to life around her, and if they didn't do that, then they were closing in from wherever they had powered up from.
All were enclosing on the department store. Acubens looked up at the imposing shape from the concrete below, opting to keep herself as close to the ground as possible. He seemed to have a track record with being tossed off of things. She rolled her shoulder, still loose from the last encounter with a nega -- well really THE nega but who was keeping track of that? She couldn't afford any real injuries right now. Keep to the ground floor, keep away from anything sharp -- really just stay outside. She pressed herself into the wall to keep herself hidden, not that it would do much good with her energy giving her dead away. But at least it offered her mind some relief.
Carefully she crept along the wall, peeking in the windows as she scurried past to avoid detection and injury from flying shards. Nothing. Carefully, quietly, around the back. Maybe there was something back there...

Nervous, anxious, on edge. Butterflies flapped merrily about in her stomach. This was Empressite's first mission since becoming a member of the Negaverse. So surely the nerves would be acceptable, if it was known what she was feeling, but Empressite prided herself on hiding such useless emotions and channeling them into something productive. She was focused, determined to perform her assigned task to the very best of her abilities. She could not allow herself to fail. This was an opportunity to show that she was a valuable asset, and to gain some sort of recognition and favor, which could be useful later on.
She arrived at her assigned place at the appointed time. She was relieved that others were already there, and took their lead, claiming a spot that was clearly visible, but was still behind others so she wouldn't be in the front line. She wasn't all that great of a fighter yet, and a large part of role was to protect her hostage so it was probably safer for them both.
She was beyond grateful that her orders had also included a picture of her hostage. She had never met the other women, Erythrite, and it would have been beyond embarrassing to take the wrong person.
'My name is Empressite,' she introduced herself quietly as she bound her captives hands. And checked and double checked to make certain that while it looked real and convincing she could still free herself if push came to shove and she needed to protect herself. Though hopefully it wouldn't come to that.
'Please pardon any liberties I may have to take.' Satisfied with the job she had done with the ropes, she took her place just behind and a step to the right of Erythrite, and placed a hand delicately on her shoulder.

All the world was a stage, and tonight, General Buddingtonite fancied himself as the leading role. He was to be the shining star, the one that was showered with flowers and roses by the end of the night. He didn't need to rehearse his lines, as every motion, every action, every word that would escape his lips would come from the heart, and the moment the lights flickered off throughout the city, it was show time, and General Buddingtonite would take center stage with gusto.
While the rest of Destiny City laid shroud in darkness, with the exception of those that held flashlights or lit candles in their homes and apartment windows, Buddingtonite had prepared for such an occasion and had managed to snag two of the large, industrial lights that remained in storage at his store, and he took the time to set them up on both sides of the street sign he was stationed at, criss crossing like those fancy spotlights that decorated the front of elaborate casinos. Of course, they remained stationary and didn't rotate or do anything fancy, considering he lacked the necessary stage hands to pull off the stunt, and besides he couldn't imagine the spotlight not remaining constantly pinned on him. After all, he had a show to run!
He wasn't alone from his perch of the sign, though, as there was a lovely lady that accompanied him. And by accompanied, he meant that she was bound, her hands tied behind her back though in a manner that all it would have taken from him was a single yank and it'd pop right off. Not that anyone could tell, given the way he held her and threatened to push her even closer to the edge, one would have never have guessed. The rest of the abductors and hostages were in the immediate area, though for Buddingtonite, his attention remained firmly set on his, a blue-haired beauty that had the great misfortune of being a ‘senshi’. He gave her another little push, as he let his voice carry throughout the crowd that was forming. “Now I’m sure you’re all aware of Tag Swagger’s documentary that aired a few months ago… can anyone tell me what THIS fine specimen is? Anyone? Anyone at all? Despite her appearances, this fine lady is a senshi, your enemy! Would you ever have guessed?”
He made sure not to push her around too much- Jade would never forgive him if he left a mark, and he certainly couldn’t forgive himself. All the world was a stage right now and all he had to do was keep the act going… simple enough, right? He thought the same for the last event and he came out with a few stitches, a burned hand that would forever scar him, and a verbal beat down that’d put anyone to shame. At least this time he knew he had the backing of the Negaverse, and pain pills.
Lots, and lots of pain pills.
“What should we do with senshi?”

Angel hadn't realized her power went out until she heard her air conditioning unit peter off into silence. With a frown, she stood from her circle of candles denoting her meditative practices and began prodding any available button on the thermostat.
At that moment, she saw floodlights erupt from the corner of her eye.
"Why spotlight a roof...?" She asked herself in reserved suspicion. "Seems a wee bit shady for my liking. Astarte, what do you say to a touch of investigation this fine evening?" Afterward Angel rifled her chest of drawers for the singular pen offering her connection to the Demon. With the heavy phrase spoken, the visage of Angel gave way to the chains and tiger lilies adorning Astarte.
Almost immediately she recognized the fetid signatures of Chaos members, a veritable cluster of them nearing the direction of those floodlights. Was it a calling card? Astarte spared little time for dawdling, as she soon left her apartment through the window and greeted the warm night air with a scowl on her face. Surely enough, she witnessed the remainder of her neighborhood stricken without power. But it didn't end there - the city stood enshrouded in darkness for as far as she could see. Emitting a quiet gasp, Astarte toed her way out atop her balcony before descending into the bushes.
Never before had she considered how quiet a city might feel without the constant hum of electricity about them. However, on this night... Such silence felt oppressive. Every step echoed loudly, every leap a veritable sonic boom in comparison. However, she forged her way toward the rooftop, every nerve ending alight with anticipation and adrenaline.
And once she leapt atop that department store roof, she stared wide-eyed at the scene.
Several officers stood before her, some with civilians at their feet. Astarte balled her fists as she focused on the grey-clad general barking delightfully at the head of the pack. "By Astarte..." She mumbled, mostly to herself. Finally she collected herself and addressed the man, one hand on her hip, lips pursed in defiance. "You there, what sort of business is this? Quite a night to host a hostage party when half the city's gone dark. Put yourself to good use and find out what's screwing about with our power!"
She knew not who these people were, and owed them no favors.

Jarosite never did anything with the Negaverse.
He kept to Albireo and his own personal vendettas, but never actually did things with other agents of Chaos. He never really had, to be honest. The Captain found working alone to be much more rewarding, even when he would get out numbered. He proved he could do it himself, and didn't want help.
The possibility of ripping starseeds though... that brought Jarosite into the fold again. He'd grown more vicious over the months and years, and while he would never touch a civilian except to drain from them, Senshi were up for grabs. He fiddled with his headphones for a moment, and turned as General Buddingtonite spoke. A grin widened his face, one that was more demonic than human.
"We pull their starseeds, no?" he replied to the General (though he knew he wouldn't actually put this one) with a flash of teeth. Captain Jarosite was a guard in this little gathering, but that didn't mean he couldn't have a bit of fun.

Andronicus rolled a shoulder. Here she was again, standing in front of a giant mass of Chaos energy and some Order. Barely a month ago, she'd been at one of these and ended up hospitalized. Why was she doing it again?
Because someone had shut off the power to the entire city.
She quickly made her way around the building, mace tucked into her belt. While her ankle was almost fully healed, and the burn across her back was painless and scarring, her elbow was not fully finished. As such, the woman still had it in a cast and a sling. She really did not want to get hurt worse and try to explain that to her mother.
The young woman spotted a familiar senshi and came up next to her. She gave a nodded to Acubens and spoke very quietly. "I've got your back, lead the way."

Leda forced herself through her paces, heels clacking relentlessly on cement, tile, shingles as she wove her path through Destiny City. Her motivations forced her down this path night after night, sacrificing countless hours of sleep to a manhunt that may never come to fruition. Sometimes she caught herself wondering if this seemingly endless hunt was what it felt like to families of missing people, but she attempted to force that thought from her mind. Now wasn't the time to daydream, not when she needed to track down that redheaded captain once more.
With a solid leap, Leda crested the sloped roof of a nearby house, and not long after her feet lighted, the whole of the city greeted her with utter darkness.
It sprawled for miles.
Leda nearly lost her footing, as the sight shocked her so badly that she gasped and stumbled backward. Managing to catch herself, Leda righted her posture and looked once more toward the darkened buildings before her. She felt her skin prickle with fear, the hairs on the name of her neck raised in alarm. Her heart hammered in her chest, and her breathing came in short bursts. Only when sparks of unconsciousness threatened to impose on her gaze did she finally attempt to correct her respirations.
Great floodlights perked up in the distance, piquing Leda's attention. With a hand hovering over her heart, she tried to calm herself one final time before approaching the curiosity. And as she closed the distance toward the illuminated rooftop, she spotted humanoid shapes. Soon following, energy signatures aligned with her enemy. Fear assaulted her senses with every nearing step but she found no reason to falter - not now, not when a death already rested on her shoulders.
Once Leda surmounted the lip of the department store building, she would've cried had tears not been swallowed up by terror.
The redheaded captain now stood as a general, and in his grasp was the petite woman she recognized from the convention many months ago.
She couldn't move.

Captain Schörl massaged Galena's shoulders lightly, though the gesture was debatably friendly. In fact, to a looker on, it had a distinct air of malice to it, like the long, wire and bone fingers were searching, examining, learning. In truth, they were memorizing the exactly shifts and fibre of the faux-senshi girl's muscles.
"It is a matter of pride, making caged birds sing, eh Pretty? " She purred it aloud to Galena, then directly to Lieutenant Cinnabar at flank, "We don't usually get so long to play with one. To see what anatomy remains the same or different between the Senshi and the rest of humanity. I wonder if we'll have any curious volunteers signing up to catalyze move by move. I like practicing trigger points."
"Are you familiar?"

Something about this felt very wrong. The sudden darkness over the whole city was strangely ominous, and the emergency lights just made the rest of the shadows seem deeper. It had struck when she was putting the finishing touches on an essay and about to go to bed, too. She just wanted to be Fleur right now and not worry about hunting the darkness.
Powering up revealed the mass of Chaos energy she had suspected it would. What was it supposed to mean,, though? Was it going to be yet another massacre? That didn't make sense, though. You could kill people just as easily in the light. A power outage would make them more cautious, if anything. This wasn't like anything that had happened before. At least, not yet. She could feel the other Order auras running towards the Chaos, too. It was going to be a fight, of course. At least this time she would be there.
She stared up at roof for a full minute before starting a quick search for ways to climb up, then found a dumpster and slowly, a little awkwardly, and very carefully made her way up the building. Cybele avoided rooftops at all costs, but at this point it didn't look like she had much choice. It looked like the center of the roof was where the Negaversers were, too. And... bound civilians? The feeling of something being wrong intensified. Her hands curled into fists. Other senshi seemed baffled as well.
"Yeah, what's going on?" she echoed, but to no one in particular, eyes flicking from one pair to the next.

Once there was a light and suddenly, there wasn't. Cora had been on her way to Mauvian HQ when suddenly lights around here disappeared. It was odd, very odd. It was rather scary too. "Something is wrong," Cora muttered, stating the obvious. Couple times she sniffed air, and her well-feathered ears perked up while her head turned around, looking for any clue or hint of what was going on and where to go.
At first, her attention was drawn by multiple dark auras. Only after them she noticed floodlights in the distance. "Negaverse," she gasped before bursting into run.
There were other Order-aligned people gathered before she got here. There was a group of Negaversers... holding civilians as hostage? And one of them was rather familiar looking..
To be completely honest, Jade wasn't sure what to make of this role of her. She was Mister Buddingtonite's hostage, had her hands tied behind her back and all. She was supposed to play the role of the 'senshi' who was under Buddy's mercy. She couldn't admit that aloud but this situation was nerve-cracking.
But it wasn't because she was worried of her life or anything like that. It was just... he was so close... It was hard to not smile, to not lean backwards and just enjoy this closeness they shared right now. Being this close to him.. It was something she had had secret dreams about. If the situation would have been different, she would have been happy and on the cloud nine... But now, when she was playing a hostage... She felt really nervous. What if she couldn't keep herself in check? What if her emotions would get best of her? What if she would fail?
Focus, Jade. Focus. Don't let yourself be unprofessional...
"I'm telling you for the thousandth time.... I'm not a senshi," Jade spoke out then, after the general had accused her being senshi. She made sure she was loud enough to be heard, figuring that's what the real senshi would say. Seriously, who in right mind would admit in front of the enemy who they really were?
"Let me go... you... you...thief!" The petite woman made couple struggling moves, pretending to attempt an escape." That pen was a gift from my mother! It has sentimental value! It's nothing more..."
Couple more escape attempts she made, glancing at times the group that was forming and hoping she made a good impression. There was so many of them.... Would they believe her? Suddenly, she spotted a quite familiar kitty from the group. "Cora?" she said quietly and this time, there was a genuine, a little surprised, a bit more worried tone in her voice.
