A flick of the tail, or a shrug of a shoulder and they knew what they were meant to do. He had trained them well. Their prey was large and worth the caution being shown even though he did not doubt his prowess, especially with his eagles above and behind him. They would ensure that the prey would not escape. There was no escape when your hunter had eyes in the sky. Any movement would be noted and every step countered by sharp talons and wicked beaks, leading, inevitable, to death by a swift hoof.

The hunter himself could barely be seen except that he was moving far too quickly to be anything but a living, breathing creature. Brown against brown, only the green glow of his eyes remarkable in anyway and yet still very much a part of the Swamp, Rift in Stone blended in with his surroundings, movements smooth and unhindered by the mud. No kin could look upon him and mistake him for anything other than a hunter, each movement one of a predator rather than prey.

Though they were once again off of Westfen lands, he knew the lay of the land well enough that he had no trouble anticipating the final scene of this hunt. There were only so many places prey could go here, especially when the chase began. It was luck that had led their meal here, but it would be their skill that settled the matter in their favor. They would eat well today after hunting so well for their tribe earlier.

Click to show.It was an unfamiliar stretch of land, but it did not matter if she was alien to this foreign swath of Swamp: she was a hunter, and she'd learn the land as she traversed it, memorize it with each press of hoof. Her sight was filled with unfamiliar terrain but the rest of her senses knew the Swamp, knew the paths and ways and wiles better than she knew her own children. Fronds brushed her cheeks and the sun dappled her pelt in a mimicry of the way it painted the Swamp, her passage more like a stir of foliage than being dipped in shadow.

The only real tell-tale marking of her presence was Frostbite, the likes of whom flew high overhead but never out of her sight. They moved in tandem, having been stalking a rabbit, but the Kimeti found the gryphon suddenly at her side, masked beneath an overhanging fern. His eyes were fixated upwards, and following his stare, she saw what had made him land -- two eagles. Not just any eagles, but two very familiar slate-winged avians that had belonged to a certain sour hunter she'd crossed paths with not that long previous.

She hadn't anticipated being able to find him, but his speed gave him away - as did the vibrancy of his glowing eyes - and she realized they, too, were hunting. Winter didn't immediately see what the prey was, but curious to the methods this hunter employed, she decided to let the rabbit go for now and instead change her own choice of hunt: the hunter. Quiet but not trying too hard to go unseen, she slinked around to his opposite side and followed, Frostbite tucked close to her hindquarters and tracking the eagles.
