He hadn't planned on heading to the field again, yet here was there, on the training fields (and still dressed as nicely as ever because Alistaire had apparently never heard of sweatpants before), his weapons summoned, standing in front of a test dummy that he was examining carefully without a word said aloud.
It probably looked quite odd to anyone passing by.

He did indeed look quite odd. Peyton wasn't much for sweatpants for training. She was more a shorts and tee shirt kind of gal, so she did give the other Sun a rather peculiar look as she walked across the training field. Her plans had been to destroy a few more dummies, but if there was already someone there looking to train, she'd be more than happy to turn her solo plans into a duet. "Hey, looking for an opponent?" She stopped a little away from him, weight shifting to rest on one hip. He reminded her, at least in a fashion sense, of Simon.

It took him a moment to respond, Alistaire taking his time to pull himself out of his inner musings and turn around, his hands tucked against the small of his back. One eyebrow lifted, his gaze slowly moving from the top of the girl's head to her face (young), to her petite frame (childlike), and then back up to her pale , dual colored hair that shifted from a light blonde to a pastel pink.
It reminded him of Shiloh, and a vague expression of irritation flitted across his face before it dissipated, easing easily into a mild mannered smile.
"That depends," Alistaire answered. "Are you willing to be mine?"

The smile that lit up delicate features wasn't entirely friendly. More a baring of teeth than anything else, fierce and competitive. "For a fight? Always willing."
Stepping back a few feet, she summoned her weapon, fingers curling through familiar metal rings as she dropped into a ready crouch.

Pale eyes rolled over his suit, the pinstripes, the loafers, and a single brow twitched up as her grin slipped into more of a smirk. "Ladies first, right?" Dressing like a gentleman did not mean he would act like one, but common courtesy and all that jazz. She waited long enough for him to summon his weapon, then she was moving forward, quickly. The silver edged of one curved blade caught the light in a bright flash as she wiped at him, bringing that sharpened point down and across his torso. Not too deep, but a hit none-the-less. He gave her a little nod, sweeping his gloved hands wide, and let her take the first hit. Her weapon was small and subtle - spikes at the end of her hand, wrapped around her knuckles as she lunged towards him, a clean cut over his torso. Alistaire stumbled backwards and the chains rattled, Grimshaw making a pleased noise inside of his head.
"You Sun Division hunters are quite ruthless, I hear," he said lightly, and spun both knives in his hands, crossing his arms and bringing both of them horizontal to slice across her stomach.

"That's one word for it." Most of Deus considered them reckless, and they could be, at least Peyton could. She preferred ruthless, it had a nicer ring to it. The chains on connecting his daggers gave him a nice range, and he used it to his advantage, blades slashing in criss-crossed lines across her torso. She bit back a curse, jerking back and away from him, before darting in again to slash at one of his arms. A wild, glancing blow. HP: 41 DMG: 2 CHG: 2/3

One word, he supposed, was right. Though along with ruthless he would most definitely have added reckless, careless, and ignorant. The sun insignia blazing on Alistaire's own coat was an embarrassment; a constant reminder that he had been placed in the wrong division, and that he had no intention of staying in such a place.
She was such a small thing. Tiny, with pale hair that reminded him of Maebe's (his lip curled in disgust at the very thought of that woman), the girl's knuckle dusters barely grazing the sleeve of his coat. He took several steps backwards, the chains clinking, and Alistaire gripped the blades tighter, held them at an angle this time, and nicked at her wrist.
"I suppose we should introduce ourselves if we are to be fighting one another," he said smoothly. "My name is Alistaire."

She knew who he was, or at least, she knew who he had been in that dream. Still, she smiled as he introduced himself. "Nice to meet you." A pretty little lie. She didn't know him well enough yet to know if meeting him meant anything to her. But she could be polite. "I'm Peyton." The glancing blow stung, but it was that minor sting that could be ignored. She feinted to the side, watching his arms and those long chains, then darted in close with one tiny fist cocked back. She aimed for his side, digging knuckles and spikes into his shield, and Warrick gave a wild howl in her mind as he drank in the Fear. < Ready when you are, halfpint. Use me.> HP: 39 DMG: 6 CHG: 3/3

If he recognized her at all from the New Year's dream, he didn't show it, the mere flicker of a smirk gracing Alistaire's lips before he gave a small nod at her greeting.
"A pretty name," he said lightly, as her arm swung towards him, the spikes of her knuckles digging into the shield at his side. He stumbled sideways, sliding his feet to keep his balance, and the chains dragged along the ground, Alistaire's teeth gritted. He twisted, flipped both of the daggers into one hand, and drove them towards her leg, wanting to knock her off balance.

Twin daggers sank into her thigh, tearing at her shield, and Warrick howled furiously in her mind as she sucked in a pained breath, jerking away. ********, that hurt! The second she was away from his daggers the pain receded, fading into a dull ache that would be gone completely in a matter of minutes. The memory of that pain remained, and Peyton leveled the Sun trainee with a competitive smirk. "Thanks, I'm pretty partial to it." It was unique. < Now Peyton, now.> The demand in War's voice was hard to ignore, and really, she had no desire to hold back. Grin growing, she drew on all that gathered Fear as she streaked forward again. Faster now, she lashed out in a series of sharp jabs. Attacking any bit meat he left unguarded. His sides, his arms, chest, back, shoulders. Over and over in a relentless assault until all that lovely Fear had been drained away and the demon was sated and spent in her mind. He gave a rumble of a laugh as she hopped back and away. HP: 31 DMG: 14.5 rounded up to 15 CHG: using 1/2

She was fast, he'd give her that. Her short stature made it easy for her to move quickly, her hands pushing towards him, each attack more angry and more purposeful than the last. Alistaire did nothing to try and stop her, merely lifted his hands and arms, bracing himself against each blow, teeth gritted in concentration.
When she was finally finished, he straightened, looking somewhat paler than he had before, and he swayed a little before he smiled at her, cold and calculating.
"You're quick on the uptake, I'll give you that," he said, and then he was lunging towards her, the chains clinking and rippling behind him. One blow was directed across Peyton's chest, a hard slash, and the second followed it, down her torso, before Alistaire leapt backwards, stumbling a little and out of breath. There was a triumphant look in his eyes, however, a hard smirk on his lips.
"Well done."

That smile was rather unsettling. She'd just unleashed on him, and he'd taken it with out so much as a pained grunt, and other than a little swaying, showed no real reaction to the attack whatsoever. Not cool. The compliment, if that's what it was, was met with a cold smile of her own, and she she did her best to brace herself as he came at her, but he was fast as well. The first knife took her high, and it was a shocking thing, enough so that she hesitated to defend herself, and the second sliced in a painful line down her torso. It left her hissing out, teeth clenched around a curse, and stubbornly hanging onto that chilly grin. "You too." Her slash lacked follow through, it nicked his hand, but nothing more. If she had expected him to grovel at her feet, beg for relief, or show any signs of weakness, she would be sorely mistaken. Alistaire was not about to give her the satisfaction of such a thing, even if her attack hadn't been as painful as it was. He fought not for her to prove herself or for him to do so as well or for training; but to analyze, to observe, to pick her apart and decipher what made her tick.
That was why he did anything these days; figuring out the puzzle of the person was important for him.
Alistaire swung the chains around, giving a small hiss as her tiny blades snagged in his glove, caught the back of his hand. He retaliated with a hard slash of his own, one dagger directed towards her upper arm.

Grovel? No, she didn't know him well enough to take any real pleasure in that. She just wanted to win. It was always what she wanted, even when other desires crept in to color her judgement, deep down she longed for the same thing, the same end. He fought so he could observe, picking apart a puzzle so he could put the pieces back together, but in this one thing, Peyton was simple. Chains moved, his blade slicing across her upper arm and drawing a pained hiss through clenched teeth, but even as her right hand fumbled, snagging a glove and doing nothing, the left started forward to rectify the mistake. The swing was low, coming in from her up and angled upward to drag the spikes of knuckles and the curved edge of her own short blade up across his body. HP: 14 DMG: 6 CHG: 1/3 | 1/2
