The Garowl Mountains.

Andrew had heard of this but before he was always a little too scared to try anything as insane as this. Perhaps he was just stupid, but he was at this dumb school to get stronger and with all that happened...

Weird dreams of people pulling him underwater, fighting shadows fighting dreams, committing himself to raids and collecting items, watching helpless as they were sucked into some twisted game. Trying to survive off of the fear of others. (He didn't like to recall how he had wound up eating grass)

Andrew wasn't going to sit around any more. For once he made the conscious decision to go forth and get a little stronger. The one that would make him the strongest, the scariest.

And apparently that meant snow. Andrew stared up the mountain very unhappy. Well nothing to do but to do it.

Andrew was determined. Despite the awful winds. He marched his tail right up that mountain, shivering the whole way. He used a little fear to warm up his little zone of himself, the fire on his tail blazing a little higher than usual in a small attempt to keep himself warm.

At some point the winds took his jacket right off and he paused and then just kept marching. It was too cold to fly and far to cold to chase after it. But his wings quickly replaced the jacket. The jiggling in his ears from the chains around his chest was mildly annoying though. He had pretty much forgotten about them.

If there were places or open classes that Olivia wanted to tackle, it was scaling The Garowl Mountain. Often in her wanderings and creeple staring, she had gazed upon it - since it was totally always there - looming over them and so terribly close. She honestly often wondered if it was as neat as the peaks that were in the Scarefari but she had never gotten a chance to try it.

Until she finally just marched herself over and signed herself up. Apparently bears were involved, that seemed neat. (In what capacity she wasn't exactly sure, she had only skimmed the instructions and only zeroed in that there would be bears).

The walk hadn't been too terrible, the mountain range had been as close as she had imagined and she found the sights to be very delightful to behold; and stopped often to gaze upon what she found. The hike up also wasn't all too bad - rather easy really - thankfully Olivia had thought ahead to wear a pair of boots along with all those usual frills but it probably also helped that she was of the icy variety. Yup, just sort of went on up.

And stopped to gaze around and take in all that it beheld. Snow was lovely, the wind had been a little much but nothing she couldn't withstand, apparently. Just standing there, staring at the view it provided allowed her to just be at ease. All her little troubles could be forgotten for just this brief moment before she continued on the climb ( and encountered bears that probably would also make those troubles go away with more).

But one particular obstacle in her unlife was making its way up the mountain and her way. Olivia made to turn when she suddenly saw a brief halo of light getting closer and closer. Curiously, she walked towards it, unsure of what it could be. What she saw, though, made her eyes widen and brighten despite the small hiccup they were going through. "Hello Andrew." The ghoul called to him, looking no worse for wear from this first hurdle up.

Andrew was not expecting to see anyone on his miserable hike. Despite it being spring and warmer, this mountain was terrible and cold.

But some creeple didn't mind the cold, some did not at all it seemed. He shivered again arms under his wings, wearing nothing but his red tank. (Anyone peeking at his back would get an eye full of skin. Normal for a flame demon but not typical of Andrew. Dumb wind.)

That was when he spotted Olivia. he stood confused a moment wondering why she would be up here, and then realized, she was probably fine. She did seem to be... some sort of ice thing. Not that he liked ice... just that, Olivia was fine. It wasn't like they were friends or anything. Anymore... if they were ever.

He paused and debated what to do.

It would be rude not to respond. (not that he usually cared but... it was Olivia) So he simply returned the greeting. "Hello."

He walked up to the cave, and peered inside tail moving forward for extra light.

And out came... the world's grumpiest looking bear. That bear looked as grumpy as he felt. It swung at him but Andrew was ready, well, freezing but he balled up a fist full of fire and punched the bear and it backed away from him. Ha!

But Jack it was cold. His hand might have retreated back into himself for warmth. But wow that was a pathetic bear.

Quote:

Despite your missing/ruined clothing, you had walked too far to back down. You are a man! A MAN. Or a woman... But you can't spell woman without a MAN. Nearing the ice cave, you could hear faint growling coming from inside as your challenger stepped forward... And give you the grumpiest look known to bear-kind. Hah, what a lousy, weak looking thing...

-> Example of damage: I am Y2 and I roll a 6. My damage is 6-4=2

< 0 : Bearel practically ravaged you, and you might had screamed loudly like a little ghoul in the process. Fail!
2 - 3 : You managed to land a weak hit, but Bearel managed to get the best of you before escaping back into the cave. Pass!
4 > : You managed to land a strong hit after summoning your inner man, sending Bearel flying back into the cave with tears streaming out of its eyes. I hope you're quite satisfied. Great pass!

And she stared back at him, her ever present smile still upon her face. Almost like nothing had happened between them, it would have been how Olivia would have wanted it to be but for a brief moment it flashed in her mind that it did and her lips faltered, threatened to frown. But he returned her greeting, even with a simple small word and the ghoul found her smile saved.

Even as he continued on past her towards the cave. She didn't follow, not just yet but soon made to like a lingering shadow. Her pace quickening when she heard the growl of what resided within.

When she got there though, Andrew seemed to have gotten past. Well, hopefully since the large grumpy looking creature was still there with his sour expression. Probably got past with the ill reaction it had when it saw her - and that lingering light up ahead - and didn't intend to maybe let another one through. Olivia's eyes sparkled with vigor as it came at her - oh, fun! She so rarely got to do this! - and she threw a punch.

Soon enough Andrew would hear a large crack, a whine and perhaps see a bear wailing as he retreated back into the caves. And a small ghoul just so pleased with herself, might have been seen skipping along when she finally got a move on.

Oh she was fallowing. It sounded like she made quick work of the baby bear. Andrew walked in a little further when he heard a growl...

That didn't sound good. He was a bid blindsided by the bear and flailed out only to find that his fire was running out. It was just too cold for him. It flared through the air but didn't manage to melt anything. The bear hit him in the middle and he landed face up staring at the roof of the cave.

Jack.... His fire burned low and he might have blacked out.

Quote:
Before you could recover from your encounter with Bearel, you hear even a louder, but more feminine growl coming from within the cave. Soon enough, Bearel's mama stepped out of the cave and made a gesture at you with her tint fists of fury; come at her, bro. Funshine is ready for some fun-time...

< 1 : Funshine beats the crap out of you, and you couldn't even land a single hit. Shame... So. Much. Shame. Fail!
2 - 4 : You managed to land a weak hit, but Funshine managed to pretty much put lots of tiny fist-shaped bruises on you before collapsing into the snow. Pass!
5 > : You managed to land a strong hit after summoning your inner man, sending Funshine stumbling and face-planting into the snow. You feel a small, pitiable sense of pride. Great pass!

Olivia also heard the growl, only so far behind Andrew in the path of the caves. The ghoul didn't think anything of it at first, taking it possibly as their second task - now putting two and two together about the mention of bears, so they were supposed to fight them? Alright.

What she heard next did not seem alright though and the small ghoul quickened her step when she heard what seemed like a struggle. Or maybe more of a one sided fight. Something large hit the grounds of the cave and she was not at all happy what it was when she finally got closer. "Andrew!" The wight called out, rushing over to his side, so mindful of his low burning fire. "Are you okay?" And dared to reach out and lightly touch him on the shoulder and shake.

He wasn't responding! QQ

The bear was even still there, so brightly colored and not something she could picture beating someone as large and scary like Andrew. But it had. But she was also something creeple underestimated. And she was mad. Olivia's eyes narrowed, something awakening inside of her - perhaps that MANLY POWER - and she went at the bear. Tiny fists of fury versus tiny fists of fury.

A punch was thrown and the yellow bear stumbled backwards from the blow, turned about and then faceplanted in the snow.

"Andrew?" She was already turning back to the boil on the ground, nudging him with a foot to see if maybe this time he would respond to some sort of touch. "The snow isn't good for you..." She pouted. And there wasn't even anything she could do! Not like she found herself able to touch that tail and protect his flame, she wasn't like him who had worked so hard to control fire and stuff - she couldn't command ice and snow!

Maybe.. if she finished the course she could go get him some help. "I will go get you help." Yes.

So much intention, really. But what came upon the duo wasn't help at all, as she would have hoped. Nor did she really manage to advance deeper into the cave to see if she could possibly find some.

Nope. Well, what emerged from the depths didn't seem too horrible, white and furry and akin to something she had seen before, wasn't it? Olivia just stared at it, observed as it didn't pass her any mind but simple picked up the fallen pile of yellow fluff that she had punched hard. Oh wait, it was helping it! Maybe it could help Andrew! Olivia's eyes lit up and she reached towards it to get its attention.

But it was gone.

But then it came back. Or.. wait. Her eyes widened when she saw what returned. So different. She could still see the white but really, what. Was this the same thing? Oh, no, this one really didn't look like it was going to help her at all. No, she was going to have to fight this one too, somehow.

And somehow she managed to hold her own against it, despite the tears in the sleeves of her shirt or the few rips in her frilly layers. The small ghoul managed to land a few weak punches on the weird looking bear spider mutant thing. Enough to make it retreat back into the caves. They had exchanged blows and they had exchanged a few scars. Somehow the small ghoul had passed this test - really, Andrew....

Quote:
Just as you thought that your training was over, a series of angry-sounding clicking noises came from the direction of the cave. A second later, an adorably white and furry teddy walked out, picked the fallen Funshine up in its arms, and carrying it back into the cave. It then reemerged from the- OH JACK WHAT IS THAT EVEN?!

< 4 : TeddyWeddy probably beat you senseless and made you scream like a little ghoul while crying for mummy repeatedly. You also feel a sense of shame. Fail!
5-7 : You managed to land a weak hit, but TeddyWeddy had gotten several scratch marks across parts of your body; well, battle scars are cool, right? Even temporary ones? Pass!
8-9 : You managed to land a strong hit after summoning your inner man, causing TeddyWeddy to go back to its original, cute and harmless form. Great pass!

A few minutes passed and Olivia simply stared into the cave, wondering if she was to be expecting more to come out to the pair of them. It probably wasn't helping Andrew any to just lay there though. But, it didn't seem like anything was coming out either, so the small ghoul just waltzed herself into the cave.

Oddly, it didn't even seem that the bears were there at all, unless they had other various places to reside in. Maybe some other tunnels or something but only one path seemed to be opened up to her as far as she could see. It was rather wide and obvious, so she followed it with a small little smile on her face. Really, she had to be proud of herself for managing to defeat three bears up a very tall mountain - she could have to tell Molan of this for sure!

Help wasn't at the end of cave, as she would have hoped but a very large box, one that just seemed to want her to open it. No one was there to tell her no - but one was there to also give her permission but at a time like this when she felt really good about herself for her accomplishments. Well, she went to open the box.

And found a pie.

Olivia frowned for a moment, wondering why food was waiting for her.

Well, maybe she could give it to Andrew? Maybe that would help as he did like to eat after all. Carefully, the ghoul picked up the dessert out of its container and made her way back out of the cave.

"Andrew, the cave gave me some pie. Will that help you?" She asked him upon returning to the opening of the cave where the unconscious flame demon still lay. Should she feed it to him or something? Hm. She inched a little closer, holding the pie steady and hovered it close to his face, unsure of how it could actually help now. "Should I still go get someone?"

A soft moan indicated that yes indeed Andrew was still alive. And he woke up to pie. Well pie was always good.

What happened where were the... bears....

He had a distinct sinking feeling that perhaps Olivia had already taken care of business. In fact he was 99 percent sure.

He glanced around for the bears. "They are gone aren't they." He had come up here with intent only to fail. Shame. Shame. His tail burned bearly higher than before.

"I can walk." he would walk back down the frozen cold terrible mountain. With his fire low he was too cold to continue. It would be best to go down... and warm up.

Still to have Olivia do it while he was just lounging around on the ground, it was just embarrassing. Next time he was totally going at it alone.

He started his march down the hill, minus one jacket. He might have forgotten all about the pie in his shame.

Andrew's rousing into the waking world, the indication that he was still alive, filled Olivia with joy. Her somewhat friend wasn't going to die and she didn't have to leave him behind to go get help, because something bad might happen or something. If the bears returned, she wouldn't be around to fight them again. The ghoul let out a little squeal to show how happy she was.

"Yes." She simply told them, still rather pleased with her efforts and unaware of how much it would wound Andrew's pride. Well, maybe she did just a little since she had done something that he hadn't. But he didn't seem so openly gloomy about it, he had seemingly arrived on the mountain in a similar mood as to now. Maybe he was just a little worn out from having to lay in the snow. He didn't like it.

But at least he was getting up now. And ... leaving? Olivia shot up instantly and held out her reward to his retreating form, "the pie?" He had forgotten to take it. And she even offered to him, she rarely offered things! The ghoul pouted, watching him go and pulled the pie closer to her chest. And stood there before she too made her way down the mountain.

Andrew would soon find the pie, minus one slice, at his door with a little hand-drawn note. (She really had no use for food but she would keep at least some of it).

It wasn't that he was being overly rude. It was just that they weren't really friends (and he was a little cross about being defeated.)

But he did find the pie much later by his room. After he had warmed up some, ok he might have just lounged in front of his stove for a while.

He was just about to go back out and brave it again. Because he was stubborn and he really wanted to at least try and get stronger. And he was kind of shown up by a little ghoul.

Never mind she was an ice creature, Olivia was small and needed protected. Even thought she could clearly pack a punch ad fight bears single handedly.

Andrew brought the pie in and might have eaten it all in one sitting.

((going up the mountain!... or not))

Andrew thought about leaving his room. But his belly was full from pie. And he was comfortable.

Sometimes leaving his room was the hardest part. He would do it again... tomorrow.

Andrew actually tried today. He flew up the mountain but found the winds a little too strong for him and it was Jacken cold! he flew back down and stomped about the base trying to warm up.
