The pumpkin sun was clear, and the conditions for filming wonderful. It looked like some time had been taken by DETH to arrange a rendezvous point for the small, aspiring team, and some equipment had been placed to one side, some generic cameras, a make up set, some general lighting (though one had to be careful as the lights would try to escape if given the chance) and microphones.
It seemed like a perfect day for filming. OOC TEAM PUMPKIN SUN- All players assembled are part of this team! Please pick a role. Remember there can only be a MAX of one person in that role with the exception of MAX THREE actors, so if someone has already picked some role, please pick another. Please post in OOC your character's role! - Pick up the role that responds to your characters! Your goal is to make this as SPOOKY AS POSSIBLE by using various commands. Roll the dice that corresponds to the command and add how many SPOOKY POINTS that command generated. By doing this all team members must work with each other. Each player may roll 4 commands (their choice of which one), and make sure to rp it out accordingly. They can do it in a row, or RP it smoothly throughout - During RP there are two modes: [ FILM ON ] and [ FILM OFF ]. When your character is in FILM OFF mode, post regularily and RP them out doing whatever setup/prepare action/ talking to others as they need to be. If your character is in FILM ON mode, it means they are BEING filmed! Put in quotations OOC= "FILM ON" and then write that you want FILMED in it. See example below. - At the end when ALL PLAYERS have rolled 4 commands, please TALLY UP ALL SPOOKY POINTS FROM ALL POSTS. That is the OVERALL SPOOKY LEVEL of your film! Once again the team with the highest spooky points win! - After 48 hours if there are people who have not rolled, just tally those ones! - You may also use the props as you wish which is the [ ARTIFICIAL RAIN SWITCH] to change things up! If you use the switch just turn it "on" and RP it raining in your post until turned off. gaia_crown [ DIRECTOR : You will be using the CAMERA prop. There is a large camera placed on a tripod. When you move over to it and press RECORD, your role has begun! Film and direct as you need accordingly! The director can also throw natural props in it such as minipets/ anything they own/ etc etc to help with the movie! Just quote the people you are giving the items to! You can use any of these commands any time by posting them at the top of your post in gold red so people know![ Commands: ]- FILM IN ACTION STYLE: Film using the ACTION setting which puts everyone on high contrast. RP it out accordingly! Roll 1d8 to see how many SPOOKY POINTS that generated. - FILM IN FILM NOIR STYLE: Film in black and white setting! RP it out accordingly! Roll 1d8 to see how many SPOOKY POINTS that generated. - FILM IN FANTASY STYLE Film using gaussian blur on everything which gives it a sort of white feel. Roll 2d4 to see how many SPOOKY POINTS it generated. gaia_crown [ SCREENWRITER] : You will have a HAUNTED NOTEBOOK prop. Write what lines you want the actors to say and it will be projected off screen. The actors CAN then use your suggested lines in some scenes or even improvise in others. [ Commands: ]- WRITE A DIALOGUE: Write a dialogue script for your actors. RP it out accordingly @ prompting them! For each actor that uses your dialogue script add + 4 SPOOKY POINTS. This can only be done for a max of two actors. - WRITE A POEM: Write a poem script for your actors. RP it out accordingly @ prompting them! For each actor that uses your poem script add + 4 SPOOKY POINTS. This can only be done for a max of two actors. - WRITE A SONG: Write a song script for your actors. RP it out accordingly @ prompting them! For each actor that uses your song script add + 4 SPOOKY POINTS. This can only be done for a max of two actors. gaia_crown [ LIGHTING: ] You will have the LIGHTS prop. You can go ahead and set them up, your goal is to watch over the equipment and make sure it doesn't run away. Dramatic lighting will of course change the mood of the film! [ Commands: ]- MORE LIGHTING: Gather a lot of intense lighting into one position. If the director is filming in FANTASY STYLE add +5 spooky points otherwise it does +0. - LESS LIGHTING: Gather a lot less lighting into one position. If the director is filming in FILM NOIR STYLE add +5 spooky points otherwise it does +0. - SPECULAR LIGHTING: Gather lights scattered in multiple positions. If the director is filming in ACTION STYLE add +5 spooky points otherwise it does +0. gaia_crown [ ACTING: ] You are encouraged to rely on the script from the SCREENWRITER to act. If not, you can always improvise with your raw actor talent! [ Commands: ]- DRAMATIC SPEECH: You pose and speak dramatically. Roll 1d6 to see how dramatic you were, the higher the better (or if you were just terrible) - TERRIFIED SPEECH: You pose and speak terrifiedly. Roll 1d6 to see how terrified you were, the higher the better (or if you were just terrible) - ROMANTIC SPEECH: You pose and speak romantically. Roll 1d6 to see how romantic you were, the higher the better (or if you were just terrible) RP SAMPLE I AM THE ACTOR (OOC: I am doing a DRAMATIC SPEECH and I roll 1d6 and get a 1. That means I gathered 1 spooky point. )
Bob looked around, getting prepared. He stared at the lighting from the lights person and the director before reviewing his lines again. They seemed okay. "Okay," he said, "I'm going to do this!"
He posed. FILM ON "Alas, poor Sue, she doth meeteth her fateth so dramatically," Bob eyed the script, and decided to half improvise, putting a hand to their forehead. "We dotheth dieth one day togethereth, thus it is shall beeth!" For extra dramatic measure, he turned on the rain switch, making it rain. Bob was pretty impressed with his performance. He hoped everyone would enjoy it as he prepped himself for the second part. OOC Bob has generated 1 SPOOKY POINT RP SAMPLE 2 I AM THE DIRECTOR (OOC: I am filming in ACTION and I roll 1d8 and get a 6. That means I gathered 6 spooky points. )
Steve the director pondered what to do next after Bob. That was terrible. It was time for him to shift focus, as he dumped an assortment of his own foxfires into the setting. "Okay!" he shouted to Bob,"imagine that you're being attacked by a lot of foxfires and it's really bloody! Sue, come help Bob! Jim the screenwriter, let me know if you have any cool lines for them. Otherwise, ACTION!"
FILM ON Steve threw a whole army of foxfires into the film set. The foxfires yipped and ran around while he continued filming. He turned on the rain switch again, making it pour. The scene was set for the actors. "Anytime you're ready!" Steve shouted to the other team members. OOC Bob has generated 6 SPOOKY POINTS

I AM THE SCREENWRITER [OOC - seems like no one else specifically nabbed it in signups apart from me with Mar, so I hope this is fine by you all]
Given Amarus' Lotus Eater facade made it difficult to express emotions she was actually having, it seemed counterintuitive to allow her to act in any capacity. Words, however, were a challenge-- a good one-- and so long as she said them aloud and pretended to be the actors before she wrote them down, she could manage.
It was just very slow going to actually transcribe anything.
She would manage. It was the creative process, she decided, and before anything got started she wanted to propose: "We should use the rain switch as much as possible. Yes. In fact, if it was raining for the entire film, I feel that would make it seem spooky," she said, pressing one finger to her bottom lip.
"Oh, yes... who is our director?" she asked, looking at the other crew members. Oh.
She stared right at Llyr. "I thought you were a dream," she said. She seemed a little defensive, as if she was concerned he would remember and mention the fact she had actually had a personality outside of this.

Actor
Trisha was here. She tied some extra ribbons in her hair today.
"Hello everyone I will be an actor." she wasn't sure about using the switch the whole time but that was ok. She could be a soggy Demon.
"I want to do something actually romantic maybe. A meeting in the rain sounds fun. But I will do whatever I need to."

Llyr, of course, had no idea what he'd volunteered for, but he had slipped one hand around Pachua's arm and the other around Nahm's arm and was quite happily pulling the two boils along with him in his quest to see anything and everything that was going on.
"I think," he said, tapping a finger against his chin. "I think I shall act."
Whatever that meant. He looked up at his two friends. "What shall you do?"
Amarus was given a wide smile, Llyr letting go of his two captives friends and floating towards her to reach out and take the ghoul's hand, giving it a friendly squeeze. "Perhaps I am a dream," he said brightly. "Perhaps that is where I reside, only in dreamlands."
Trisha and the others received a bright eyed expression, Llyr, winding his fingers together and peering at everything curiously.

Nahm made no objections to being hauled along by Llyr, following with his perpetual grin firmly in place. When the other boil let go of him, he prowled toward the equipment, studying it, and declared, "I got the lights." It'd be easier to make sure he didn't get burned that way. "I um… I'll… direct?"
Pachua offered cautiously, he tried to arrange his feathers and wings in such a way as to look like he was in fact, in charge but lord only knew if that was a success.

Oh, excellent. All of the roles had been chosen. Amarus first regarded Llyr, and said: "Then I will continue to treat you as such." She smiled at him. Amarus turned towards one of the actors, one of the other two ghouls and the first of them to speak.
"Romance?... Dying is romantic, yes?" she suggested, with a shrug of one shoulder. In other words, the screen writer was unlikely to feed any of you anything remotely like romance.
Amarus approached their voluntary director, and attempted to squeeze Pachua’s shoulder in a comforting manner. "I have the utmost faith in your filming skills, Director. When you are ready, perhaps we can begin? In the mean time, I wonder if we could not start the film with a song? I have heard that songs are enjoyable," she said.
Better than a poem, anyway.
Taking her Haunted notebook, the screenwriter wrote a song that began for one voice and became a duet. She secretly hoped that the Director would cue up the artificial rain for a dramatic point.Film On-ish [[OOC : These words will be projected for the first two actors. +8 Spooky Points if two actors use this song. Action 1 / 4]] Actor 1: Oh, do you see the lights lit down below? All those quiet, restful souls sleeping peacefully in bed. And yet here I sit, amongst the dead… sleepless, again. Though I cannot sleep, I dream, and in my dreams I see a plan that, should I succeed, might see me free from endless nights alone, again.
And yet this plan requires two, how could I know the cost of reaping dreams to sew pain and loss: a nightmare in the place of every sleeping head, resting soundly in its bed. Too much work to be done alone!
Actor 2: Could I not help? I too sleep not, I am alone with only thoughts to occupy my wandering.
Actor 1: Who is there? Step closer, I may end you yet-- why should I trust a stranger with my plot?
Actor 2: I have nothing to lose, I have no dreams of my own. Please don’t condemn me--
Both Actors Together: To these endless nights, alone.

Cameras were rolling. Nahm grinned and flipped switches, teasing and coaxing the lights into casting two separate pools of light, one for each actor to step into for their lines.

[off scream] [actor- actor one]"I supose dying is romantic enough." Trisha smiled a bit. She didn't realize that there would be no romance in this. Not a clue. That was ok she saw the lights. [on scream]
Quote: Clearly the lights were meant for her. Trisha put on a bright smile and stepped in. She sang the first line happy with a smile on her face Oh, do you see the lights lit down below? and then her eyes skimmed the rest ans she realized it was a sad song. Slowly she softened her voice trying to mimic the feel of the song. It would be a sad romance it seemed. All those quiet, restful souls sleeping peacefully in bed. And yet here I sit, amongst the dead… sleepless, again.
Trish sighed woefully before continuing to the next verse. Though I cannot sleep, I dream, and in my dreams I see a plan that, should I succeed, might see me free from endless nights alone, again. She looked around and stepped to the edge of the light. And yet this plan requires two, how could I know the cost of reaping dreams to sew pain and loss: a nightmare in the place of every sleeping head, resting soundly in its bed. Too much work to be done alone!
Trisha held out a hand towards the other spotlight. That seemed like the right thing to do. She would be as romantic as possible.

Jack damn it all. It was clear that this was going to be romantic, even though she had tried to make the plot of her duet scary in its own right-- well, she was a teenage ghoul, was it really all that surprising she had ended up writing something that could be construed as affectionate?
To anyone that knew Amarus, yes, it probably was surprising. Silently as the first Actor performed her half of the Duet, Amarus gave her a thumbs up and masked the pained expression with her usual indifferent look. Good job? she mouthed, at least very pleased that she had stuck to the song. And she didn't sound half bad.
"Actor one, I think I shall call you the architect," she said, afterwards and off screen, addressing Trisha.
Taking up her Haunted notebook, the screenwriter wrote some dialogue for two scenes: one immediately after the duet with the first two actors, and one to introduce the third actor afterwards.. Whoever didn't claim the second part of the duet would inevitably have to be the "villain," then. She also turned to the director and asked: "Do you happen to have any minis you can toss in for a potential party scene? Perhaps dressed in a dapper fashion? I suspect I do not have enough actors to make a convincing party," she lamented. She handed the director several vials of a purple-pink liquid, "And I was wondering if, at the end of the party scene, you might consider adding this to the rain mixture? It will produce a very, ah, apt effect," she suggested, with a very nice smile.
A very, very nice smile.Film On-ish First Scene [[OOC : ACTOR 1 (Trisha) is now THE ARCHITECT. Actor 2 is THE WATCHFUL. Actor 3 is THE SHERRIFF. +8 Spooky Points if two actors use this dialogue. Action 2 / 4]]
Architect: Well, who are you then, stranger?
Watchful: I watch, from the shadows. I see what happens in this town. I recognize everyone, I know all their secrets.
Architect: I do none of those things, so you'll be a very nice compliment to my mission--
Watchful: --Now we're a team!
Architect: Sure, no. Still me. And you're helping me. Now, I have a serum that can put this entire town into a deep sleep, full of nightmares. And I have created a machine to harvest those nightmares. We could have anything we want. I could have anything I want. The only question is... how do I make it a reality? No one trusts me. I'm not sure why.
Watchful: You know what everyone loves? Parties. Everyone loves a good party. Let's throw a party, and then we can poison them!
Architect: A smashing idea, strange new friend. Imagine the possibilities? Poison the punch, taint the cakes, spike the sandwiches--
Watchful: A feast of fear!
Architect: Oh yes, dear friend, I like the way you think. And the way you talk. Now, can I leave you to send the invitations? Perhaps mystery will be on our side.
Watchful: You can count on me. I've waited for this moment for a long, long time.
Architect: So you have also grown to loathe these cretins? What an ally I've made of you, then! Delightful. I shall prepare at once.
Watchful: [Aside] No... I've waited to be your friend, for a very long time. If the entire town is the price, then I will gladly pay it to live in a world alone with you. [EXIT The Watchful]
Film On-ish Second Scene [[OOC : ACTOR 1 (Trisha) is now THE ARCHITECT. Actor 2 is THE WATCHFUL. Actor 3 is THE SHERRIFF. +8 Spooky Points if two actors use this dialogue. Action 3 / 4]]
SHERIFF: Stop! In the name of the law, you miscreants!
Architect: What's this, Sheriff? Is there, indeed, a law against taking a walk alone at night?
Sheriff: In a cemetary? I heard singing, you can't possibly claim to have been singing alone.
Architect: But I do claim as much, Sheriff. I have a lovely falsetto voice, and an equally lovely soprano, do you not think so?
Sheriff: I know someone is hiding here, they had better come out, or I will have your skin for suits, village creep. All that science can't be good for your head!
Architect: Science can be very dangerous, it's true. Would you like a demonstration, Sheriff? This conversation has been so stimulating, but I fear I have science to get on with. The science of dreams, to be exact.
Sheriff: You'll have to get past me, villain.
Architect: Sheriff, how am I the villain, here? You're the one standing in my way, and no one likes a dream-crusher. The best part about science is that I can overpower you without even lifting a finger. You'll be mine to control. [HYPNOTIZE SHERIFF]
