*~::Odori Park::~*
[The Third Holy Grail War]
A beautiful park in Sapporo where a lovely snow has fallen, coating everything around it in an ethereal white veil. The blossoms on the trees are falling, the winding, gorgeous paths providing a serene dissonance to the chaos of the War within the city.

It has been discovered that one of the Major Mana Lay-Lines of Sapporo is located beneath this Park! If a Master and Servant were to set up a base here, it may yield significant benefits...

Kyuzo Rikkio
"...One never stumbles when they walk the right path..."

"...this is the park. But where is the construction...?" Kyuzo glanced around, before putting a palm against his forehead. It seemed he'd gone the wrong direction, since the people talking about the construction site had long since ceased. In a city as big as Sapporo there was always something being fixed or changed on nearly every street, and he'd been in too much of a hurry to figure out exactly which one they meant. Now he was in the middle of the snow-covered park, which had become unnaturally cold even in this season ever since evil demons had begun to settle in this city. It snowed in the park every night, even when there was no such precipitation in the rest of the city...it was beyond unusual, but Sapporo had become so labored trying to deal with all the threats that this one hardly even registered to ordinary people.

"Master, I don't sense any Servants. That said, it feels like this area is full of magical energy. Perhaps there use to be a barrier here, or something else..." It was clear that the Servant was as at a loss for what was going on as Kyuzo, but if he realized they'd run in the wrong direction he didn't say so. Perhaps he didn't even realize Kyuzo was trying to go to the Construction Site and instead thought they'd come here looking for another Master; the brown haired swordsman couldn't quite tell. "...i think it would be good to scout the area, and if we can then we may want to lay claim to the area. As the war intensifies we're going to need all the power we can get, and a Layline is essential to summoning the Grail. If this is what I think it is...we might have just stumbled upon a real trump card." Kyuzo listened patiently, and nodded agreeingly when his Servant finished speaking, glancing around. His house wasn't too far, although it wasn't in the park. Perhaps he could...pitch a tent? Or...he sighed, imagining the things he'd have to do to stake a claim. But, if they were able, then it was clear that his Servant would be much happier for the effort.

"...wait, haven't I been here before?"

Berserker

Many Masters preferred to flee instead of fight... but you couldn't win if you didn't eliminate your opponents. After a day in which Sapporo was growing increasingly fearful about what they couldn't understand (and, more importantly, a certain Master had rested), a black-clad Servant moved forth once more. His sword thirsted for blood, and he was becoming rather less particular about the source. A few extra weapons had been strapped to his body, though they were smaller than what he'd used before. Even his Master had a limited supply of such goods, after all. That was all right, though. For him, anything was a suitable weapon, and he roared into the park on a motorcycle he'd bent to his will.

Click to show. The sun had gone and come again, and with the auspiciousness crowd that passed through in the daytime Kyuzo had managed to claim the ley-line for his own. Odori Park was the most exposed of the lot, and even into the early evening there was a chance of couples or unusual individuals passing through, meaning that any fighting here might betray the masquerade. Kyuzo had bet on that fact, and his gamble had paid off as he spent the night claiming the magical energy in the area. He'd also asked, and there was a neighborhood watch for the park due to the recent rash of crimes in the area, so as the newest volunteer he'd be on the night patrols until further notice. He could use the patrol booth as a workshop to camp out in, and his Servant could keep getting stronger for the fights ahead.

"It's time to go." Kyuzo pulled his bag over his shoulder and nodded to his Servant, who remained in spirit form, smirking when he got an equal nod in return. He had just finished putting on the uniform for his patrol when he heard the roar of an illegal motorcycle enter the park, and sensed the spirit using the vehicle as well. "Ah, wait." Kyuzo extended his arm to signal for his Servant not to leave the room, and his Servant's eyes slowly opened as he realized how quickly his Master had picked up on the enemy Servant; perhaps it had even been faster than the Servant. After a moment of quiet except for the loud roar of an engine, Kyuzo exited the small shelter and signaled for his Servant to head towards the oncoming enemy, although they didn't take the same route.

The park lights had kicked on, and the first snow of the night had begun to fall, just as it had every day for the past few months. What had once been televised as an unseasonal wonder was now simply accepted as another reason this place was such a beautiful dating site, and it had hardly suffered for it. A couple walked down the main path of the park, the only thing unusual about their routine being the direction of their eyes; they were staring straight forward, trying to make out the loud motorcycle in the darkness. "So another Servant's finally come? You're a little late; this place is my offering to my Master. If you wish to test my claim, perhaps you should come back a little later when there are less people around. I have no qualms about facing you to decide who is truly worthy of holding the Grail." The voice echoed through the trees lining the path as the Servant ducked from cover to cover, avoiding both the prying eyes of the couple, and Berserker. A Servant like that could hardly be trusted to conceal himself from the public, so his coming here put the entire masquerade at risk. His Master either had a plan...or was making an extremely foolish move.

While the couple glanced about frantically and picked up their pace through the park, now remembering that it had been called 'haunted' and that some said people had vanished from the area, they unwittingly moved straight towards Berserker. Keeping an eye on them from the tree line was Kyuzo, darted from one location to the next just as his Servant was, attempting to get a clear line of sight on the Servant who showed such brazen pride. "Ah...Master of Berserker. If you want to settle things, I'd be happy to fight you myself. Your Servant could put us all in danger in an area like this. Lets settle things with honor, so that no one has to die. Not our Servants, or us." Kyuzo's voice filled the park, offering an ultimatum to the soon to spark battle of Servants. He couldn't see the Master of Berserker, but if there was a chance he could be reasoned with then Kyuzo would take it, not only for Diarmuid's sake, but also so he could test his own strength. There was no point in fighting a deathmatch if he could get through to the other Master, and also...if it came to it...at least he would keep Berserker's attention preoccupied, as the Servant tried to differentiate between the Master and Servant in the trees.

"...wait, haven't I been here before?"

Berserker

As the motorcycle moved through the park, the black-armored Servant flicked out his weapon. It was a small action, even a tiny one... but it was enough for what he needed to do. The lights within the park promptly went out as their power supply was cut, plunging the park into shadow and "encouraging" the public to stay away. That was mostly a side-effect, though - the fact that things had been set up this way was all the reason Berserker needed to destroy it. Unfortunately for Kyuzo, Berserker's master wasn't currently present, and the Servant in question was largely unable to reason properly. What little light there was came from the moon, and that was all the crazed Servant needed. Berserker leaped off of his bike a moment later and began stalking towards the trees, every sense searching for details about his foe. Even for a great warrior, this was the kind of feat that was difficult at best, but Berserker was the greatest warrior of his age. Here and now, despite his crazed state, he was able to make full use of every bit of his skill - and a dark fight could be quite an interesting one.

Which, of course, didn't stop Berserker from pausing near the outer edge of the area where the other Servant was. The crazy Servant considered for a moment, then reached out, grabbed a car that had been left there overnight, and physically hurled it into the trees. No black aura surrounded it when he touched it - it was quite possible that the Servant didn't consider it to be a real weapon (unlike a motorcycle, which at least resembled a steed). Nor was he especially expecting to hit either of his targets... but it wasn't them he was trying to strike, either.

Kyuzo witnessed Berserker's spree begin, and though he wanted to intercept the Servant's master and teach him a thing or two, the attacks from Berserker were nothing to sneeze at, either. And when the snow storm began to pick up Kyuzo had to cover his face from the frenzy of flurries, leaving things to his Servant for the time being.

"Talk about a show off. But with the lights out, at least we won't have to worry about interference. And, the dark should give me some advantage..." Lancer slipped his toe under his spear and kicked the weapon up into the air, snatching it with his free hand to complete the set. With two spears, it was unlikely his opponent would be able to discern his true fighting style easily, and he'd kept them sealed inside some talisman wraps to ensure no one would be able to recognize the spears until he decided to let them loose. He was prepared for this fight, but with the way Berserker was hurling things around, it was obvious he was no ordinary opponent. Luckily Lancer's master was on the other side, one having taken the left side of the path while the other took the right, and thus the attacks weren't any danger to him...leaving Lancer to deal with Berserker head to head.

"Alright, time to move." Lancer waited for the car to come between he and Berserker's vision, then dashed from the cover of the trees, sliding under the projectile of Berserker to come up without stopping and deliver a quick thrust towards the chest of the enemy Servant. As he did the bandaging on his spear loosened and fell away to reveal a spear with a blood red tip, and yet Lancer didn't shout it's name to activate the weapon which most Noble Phantasms required. "What a pesky disguise. Now lets see who you are!" The armor of Berserker made his identity indiscernible to others and provided him strong protection, but Lancer had no intention of being dissuaded by armor. He'd defeat Berserker even if he had to force the monster to fight him honorably, and once they settled their duel the winner would sing praises in honor of the fallen. If Berserker couldn't handle that, then he'd just have to accept being the one to die right here!

Berserker

The faintest sounds in the moonlight, moving over the ground in an attempt to get closer while another's vision was obscured. A basic strategy... but easy to see coming. Any Servant who thought an action like that would overcome the battlefield expertise of the greatest warrior of his time would soon learn the error of their ways. Most people, faced with a vicious thrust of unknown power, would probably have tried to move back and avoid it somehow. Berserker was not most people. The Lancer was undoubtedly fast and skillful, but Berserker was easily his equal in speed... and superior in strength. As the weapon came in, the armored Servant grabbed it behind its sharp head and dug in slightly, using pure power to shove the weapon to the side and away from his body. Yet that was only part of what the crazed Servant was doing, for while he'd made the snap decision to defend this way, he'd also made a choice for offense. With his other hand, the armored Servant pulled out a submachine gun, enhancing it with his power and sending a hail of bullets towards the other Servant at what was effectively point-blank range. Throughout it all, the armored Servant spoke no word - for in his madness, he had nothing to say to a foe such as this.

"A mad dog like you is nothing but a threat to everyone here." Lancer turned his body to pull the lance against his side as Berserker raised his gun, and let the tip of the other weapon cut a path straight upwards and through the barrel of the gun, rendering it useless before he could fire. Those weapons would give him an advantage at range, but up close a melee weapon like his was much better, and by convincing the knight to draw his early he'd obtained the chance to dispose of the Berserker's deadliest weaponry. "On my honor, I will defeat you." Lancer declared, shifting a foot under his contested lance and inside Berserker's leg, before using his bodyweight like a fulcrum to trip the Berserker and toss him away. If he didn't let go of the spear, he'd be open for a painful, possibly fatal attack with his back to the earth and his eyes to the sky...but if he let go he could recover, although Lancer would reacquire his red spear once again. It was the best he could do considering Berserker's great strength, but it was something that only someone like him, with a real perceptiveness towards battle, could do.

Berserker

When a man reached a true pinnacle of skill, he rarely needed to think about what to do in combat. That was probably for the best, considering the way that Berserker's mad enhancement made any sort of thinking difficult. Yet there were so many people who expected one thing, only to get another... and the armored Servant wasn't one to simply back down in the face of danger. As his ranged weapon was severed, Berserker simply let go of it, instead grabbing the shaft of Lancer's second weapon as well to prevent him from using it properly. At the same time, he lifted the leg that Lancer had been attempting to use to trip him, pushing out with his other leg to drive himself forward with all the power that his body possessed. A knee to the gut, complete with the spikes his armor possessed, and a heavy slam a little higher up. At this range, with such speed and power, there wasn't much someone could do to avoid the blow, and adding onto it was a pull backwards on the red lance - to bring the Lancer even closer.

Let others have their honor, their pride, their rules of battle. Berserker was a savage beast, with a direct and brutal fighting style.

As Berserker gripped the spear Kyuzo stepped from the trees and raised his hand, snapping his fingers in the Servan'ts direction. An explosion of gravitational forces welled up under Berserker and all the force the Servant would have put towards a knee to Lancer's gut disappeared as he began to trail upwards with nothing to use for a source of strength. Lancer had one key thing in this fight that Berserker did not...a partner, one willing to give it his all for the sake of their mutual victory. "I address the Command Seal! Diarmuid O'Dyne, use your full strength to defeat your opponent!" The marking on his hand dissolved as Kyuzo spoke, and a rush of power transferred to the Servant, the trump card he'd hoped not to use until later.

--------------------------
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show."Master, that's enough. Thank you!" As Kyuzo intercepted Berserker's lunge, Diarmuid returned the favor to his master and raised his foot for a swift front kick to the monster's side, forcing his grip off of his two spears. The monstrosity had immense strength, but working together they were able to neutralize that power by removing Berserker's center of gravity and unleashing Diarmuid's full abilities; and that would all lead to this one swift blow. "You monster..." Even as Diarmuid began to speak he thrust the point of his red spear at the chest of Berserker again, intending to deal an important blow to his enemy; and avoid losing complete control of his spear, the sign of his honor, again as well.

Berserker

What was a hero? Many people would answer that question in many ways. Someone who saved others, who protected the world, who did what was right... somebody who did something great. Yet a hero had a different point of view - for many of them, they just did it without thinking, perhaps on instinct alone. Throughout history, there were many who were called 'hero', and quite a few of them had been summoned to this particular war. However, let us take a step forward...

What of those who could no longer be called heroes? What did they become? If there was no word to replace it, did they simply become nothing? But that couldn't be right, for many of them still existed. Even if they were no longer a hero, they had the power of a hero. Even if they were no longer a hero, they had the skill of a hero. And even if they were no longer a hero... a hero was something they had once been. You could not stop being who you were.

As Berserker's body moved into the air, Lancer's blow began, breaking the Servant's almost impossibly-strong grip in one blow. That, all by itself, was a deed that deserved to be sung in stories. Yet the followup was vicious as well, and while Berserker's armor wasn't magical, it faced a Noble Phantasm thrust with tremendous force by a Servant who was heavily amplifying their power. There was a limit to everything - for friend and foe alike. As the legendary Gae Dearg came in, a faint light shone from within his scabbard. The illumination of the fairy letters on his sword was the proof of their blessing, Lancer was fast, even faster than Berserker at the moment, but there were two important considerations. First, Berserker's skill with arms was all but unmatched throughout all of human history. Second, he had the sacred blessing of the fairies - in the worst situations, his already excellent luck increased. Yet still, there were limits to all things - and in the blink of an eye that the attack happened, Berserker combined his own speed, his mastery of arms, and pure luck to push the lance to the side. It wasn't enough to avoid injury - the lance cut through his armor and into a part of his side, but it was nowhere the lethal blow that it could have been. Demonstrating his skill at arms and tremendous strength, however, the push also became a push for his own body, turning the wild toss into a controlled descent to the ground. His hand was already moving, but not to draw one of his many extra tools. Before Lancer could follow up, Berserker had unsheathed his blade - and the aura of power that suddenly surrounded him was like he had accessed his own personal Ley Line.

The armored warrior stood there, weapon at the ready. He had been wild before, but now he seemed almost... calm in his rage. This was his true weapon, and what he was meant to fight. With this sword, he was better than he was with any other weapon. There were few who could make Berserker tempted enough to use this weapon - that Lancer had done so was another act that deserved praises and songs. But one thing about the classic legends... was that in the end, they were tragedies. Despite his wound, Berserker stood there, ready to clash once more... and inviting his foe to come to him.

He quickly skidded backwards as Berserker began to summon something new, what Diarmuid expected to be his Noble Phantasm, and leaned one spear against his shoulder as he held the other in front of him laxly, but with a grip tight enough to act the moment he needed to. "I see. It's no wonder you're such a fierce warrior...knight of Camelot. Both your armor, and weapons betray your identity." Diarmuid's foot slowly slid forward as he took a defensive position, knowing that Berserker wasn't the type to start talking now. There may have been some shreds of memory in there, but only someone who truly knew him was likely to pull those out, and the fact was he and Berserker hadn't even been close to living in the same time period. "Master...I must warn you that this foe is truly powerful. I think the only way this battle will be decided is by skill, and the will of the Gods. But...I, Diarmuid O'Dyne, will give my all to slay this monster, as a Knight of Fiaana!" As Diarmuid declared his name and his will to his opponent, he pointed his spear towards the black armored figure, issuing a challenge that any knight of the code would be proud to accept. His only wish was to serve a Master with honor, a right he'd been denied in life...but now, with Kyuzo as his ally, he had a chance to make up for his failings. For all time.

Berserker

One of the most interesting things about Berserker's weapon was its essentially self-reinforcing nature. By drawing it, even his own compatibility with it shot upwards, making it all the better... and the armor-clad warrior stalked forward, blade glinting in the dim light that still filled the area. Even with all of his boosts and aids, Lancer remained weaker overall than Berserker was. Perhaps more relevantly, for all Lancer's formidable skill and powerful weaponry... Berserker had absolutely phenomenal resistance against truly dangerous blows. Injury was possible, but a true killing strike would be far more difficult... and despite his madness, the Servant continued to approach with a calm, steady gait, not the slightest bit concerned about his opponent's power. Almost absently, as he moved, he pulled a knife out of his back and flicked it towards Kyuzo... with all the deadly aim of an unrivaled warrior and all the ungodly power and speed of a Servant. Not to mention a huge helping of luck, of course, which served to make all of his actions that much more effective and more likely to work. Mere humans would have an incredibly difficult time dealing with such things on their own.

"...One never stumbles when they walk the right path..."

"...ah." The knife Berserker flicked Kyuzo's way smashed into a tree, sending the foliage crumbling down with the tremendous force of a Servant. Of course the knife itself was obliterated by the throw, but it nonetheless spoke to Berserker's power...and it was for that very reason Kyuzo had retreated behind the tree line, now making sure to remain even further from Berserker's field of vision after a heart-stopping threat like that. But unlike Berserker's Master (who was probably feeling some tremendous strain right now, due to Berserker's natural power-drain), he couldn't bring himself to abandon his Servant, and even if he couldn't interfere directly anymore, he would still support him in any way he could.

--------------------------
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.It was dreadful to sense a creature with as much power as Berserker coming at you. Under normal circumstances, the two would have been on completely different levels, and Lancer couldn't have had a chance one on one. But his Master had planned ahead, and it was paying dividends now. The ley-line was giving him power...and his Master had even chosen to use one of his Command Seals, not to force Lancer to act against his will, but to give him even greater resolve against his foe. Yes, Berserker was definitely a greater hero in his time...but this time, the tides were turning against him. In Berserker's hand he held an amazing sword, one which brought out his true strength; Arondight. Anyone would have recognized that dazzling blade, but the armor that was now unclouded to Lancer was just as much of a telltale towards Berserker's identity...as Lancelot. A knight who could manipulate anything he wielded so skillfully, who drew strength from his berserking skill to such depths, who was guarded by such heavy armor. It was more than a match for Lancer's own strength and his Gae Dearg, and even if he unleashed his Gae Buidhe the chances of victory were merely 50/50.

That was why the first move was so important. If he lunged at Berserker and exposed himself, the chances that he recovered were slim. If he gave Berserker the first strike though, the monster might just cleave him in two with his new blade. On top of that, Berserker seemed to be testing him as he attempted to attack his Master. The problem was...it worked. "Master, are you alright? Leave this fiend to me, and get somewhere safe!" He'd chosen to enter the tournament to find a Master worth serving, and fulfill his duty; and he'd been blessed enough to receive just that. He couldn't let Berserker attempt such an attack again, on his honor as a knight. "Your sword or my lance, which do you think will win? I say it's time we find out!" Lancer dashed forward, drawing back his Gae Dearg and thrusting the weapon forward again, his hand sliding down the pommel to use it's extra reach; he wasn't within Berserker's range, but Berserker was already within his. For as far back as the martial arts stretched, the spear always had an advantage as a weapon over a sword, and this was precisely why...before his Gae Dearg, the black armor was just that; metal to be pierced through. And if Berserker thought he could neutralize it by grabbing his weapon again, he was sorely mistaken. That trick wouldn't fool him a second time, and with Berserker's edge in both strength and speed taken away, this fight was going to come down to who had the resolve to truly win this round!

----------------------

"I believe in you Lancer. I won't move one inch...so show that monster your true power. As your Master, I am sure of nothing less than your victory." Kyuzo encouraged, knowing all too well that Lancer probably wanted him to flee. But he wouldn't be the Master who hesitated, and left Diarmuid to die....he would engrave their teamwork into his soul, so he knew that Diarmuid O'Dyne had an ally who would support him even across the span of time!

"...wait, haven't I been here before?"

Berserker

Swords were famous weapons in popular culture, especially in modern times... but in the days of yore, the spear had been one of the most powerful and effective weapons on the battlefield. Indeed, the Roman legions had changed the world with the weapon, for all that it was nothing more than a pointy stick. Lancer's style, on the other hand, presented certain problems... because the tactics for fighting spears with a sword got a lot more difficult when your opponent had two of the things. That was less of an issue for the greatest warrior of his time than it would be for, well, pretty much anyone else in literally all of history, but his opponent was a talented, experienced, and noteworthy hero in his own right.

As a true knight, Berserker would have gladly faced his opponent, using cunning, resolve, skill, and the pride of a knight to overcome challenges. As a crazed warrior? Not so much. A massive cloud of dust erupted upwards as Berserker's foot slammed into the ground, blocking his opponent from easily seeing things. Berserker moved a moment later, experience in battle telling him which areas would still be dangerous... so that he could avoid anything truly threatening his opponent could do while getting to where he wanted to be. No, he was not going to fight in the ways his opponents wanted. Berserker had other plans, calmly drawing a modern pistol from his dwindling supply of weapons as he acted. Just a little more, and...

Mastership of combat arts has reached the point of being said to be unrivaled in one's era. By complete merging of mind, body and technique, it is possible to make use of full fighting skills even when under the influence of any sort of mental hindrance.

Arondight: A++
Lancelot's true Phantasm, it seals the other two when drawn. Increases all parameters by one when drawn, cannot be destroyed when stricken by an enemy, increases luck during potentially-fatal attacks, and grows stronger when fighting enemies with a 'Dragon' relation.
