He'd heard some weeks past about a bounty on some knight's head. The only stipulation was that he be brought back alive and relatively unhurt. Normally, Jarosite didn't have anything against the knights; they got hurt when they got in the way, but he left them alone. It was senshi he was after. He might be over Odette, but it didn't mean he didn't want blood for what the magic had done to her.
Besides, seeing senshi bleed was a thrill.
However, Jarosite was, ah, lacking in the money department and had barely made rent for April. He didn't want to end up back at his parents, because then them and his little sister could be targets for ransom or punishment, but if he didn't get more hours at work he'd be late for May.
Or he could bring this Babylon to Avalon and be set for the next few years.
So he went out looking. He'd get roughened up probably a tad more than she wanted but, he'd be alive. Mostly. The Captain whistled and searched for him through the abandoned alleyways.
"Come out, come out little knight...

If there was one thing that Babylon did not want to <********> deal with tonight, it was the Negaverse. He'd taken to the streets in hopes of finding a friendly face, in hopes of running until he didn't have to think anymore about his pain or his grief or his anything. He sensed the captain before he heard him, and for a moment thought he could get away unnoticed - but the signature was definitely on an intercept course, and if the way it was following him didn't make its intentions clear, then the young man calling out Come out, come out little knight... definitely did. Babylon spun on his heels, deciding to meet this challenge head on. He could take a captain easy, send him home with his tail between his legs. Stepping into the alley, his lantern raised, he asked, "Is this about that stupid ******** bounty?" Because if it was- He'd had it up to here with Avalon and her- well, he couldn't well call them antics because antics implied fun and she'd killed his father less than forty-eight hours ago. They were way beyond antics. He'd had it with her menace? Her threats? Babylon did not have a proper word, but he knew for sure that he was done. "Go home," he said dismissively to the captain. "I'm not going with you."

So he knew about it! All the better! Though, Jarosite may have... over estimated who Babylon was. Granted he hadn't gone to Avalon and asked pointed questions of who the knight was, but hey now he knew! Sort of. Besides he'd gone up against senshi stronger than he was and did okay. (Ignoring the fact he'd had help.) This would be a challenge, but it would be rewarding in the end.
Or get him punched so hard he couldn't see. But that was the risk involved!
"Oh come on, I'm sure whatever she has planned will be painless..." he said, cocking his head and shifting his weight. So the knight had a giant lantern, which made Jarosite laugh softly. The guy wasn't a knight, more like night watchman or something with that thing.
"Whacha say... come of your own terms and I won't roughen you up. As much." He flashed him a cocky grin, hands sliding into his coat pockets. Lead with the feet, then pull out the daggers. He had to get inside the range of the lantern, or at least be aware of it, but that would be easy, right?
Right.

"Painless," scoffed Babylon, setting a slight swing to his lantern. He'd felt just a taste of what Avalon had in store for him the night he fled with Spinel, when she'd plucked his starseed from his chest and held it in her hands. Corruption would hurt more than that, and that had been agony, and maybe once he was on the other side of it, he wouldn't remember, but-- He had no plans to find out first-hand. "Oh, believe me, I know what she has planned for me," he said to the captain. "It won't be painless." Babylon could take a captain. The lantern in his hands could pack a hell of a wallop when he needed it too, but Babylon wouldn't make the first move - that just wasn't his style, as easy as it would be to clock this cocky a*****e across the side of the head and be done. "You can try," he said. "But I won't be coming with you - willingly, unwillingly, or at all." Bold talk. He held his lantern at the ready.

Cocky did not do well in battles, especially battles with someone stronger than you. But money was money, and damn did Jarosite need some. The lantern was like a ball and chain, right? As long as he got inside it's reach, the knight couldn't do squat to him. So getting inside his range it was.
Jarosite gave a shrug and shot forward, a dagger in each hand. While he wouldn't do much physical damage to the knight with them, he was banking on the magic instilled in them numbing the knight's joints for a short while and allow Jarosite to knock him out. He aimed one hand filled dagger towards Babylon's neck, while the other went low towards the arm holding the lantern.
He was also banking on the knight not expecting him to kick him with his boots. But. He wasn't hoping too much. Silverah His weapons do this: When they hit, they release a small bass beat, numbing a four inch area around the point of impact for 10 seconds.

Why couldn't anyone just leave him alone when he asked them to?Babylon took two quick steps back and to the side, skipping neatly out of the path of the first dagger. The second grazed his forearm, and he didn't have to wonder long about the rumble's effect - his arm was asleep. Scowling, Babylon switched his lantern to his other hand, and he looked up just in time to see the Captain coming at him with a kick. He raised his numbed arm to block, and fortunately his thick coat dulled most of the blow. Still, he could tell that it was going to hurt as soon as the magic wore off - which was approximately now. "Mother <********>," swore the knight, shoving the foot away. "Seriously, I'm not in the mood for this fight tonight, and you're not taking me in." Aiming for the captain's face, he swung his lantern and he swung it hard.

Most people Jarosite fought used their arms, legs, short weapons, magic. To be fair, he usually didn't even take on those who out ranked him, preferring to prey on the younglings or try to convert them. The younglings being the lowest ranks; he didn't really approve of the chibi senshi. Too close to his sister's age and the thought of eight year olds running around fighting was just... wrong. Those he encountered though, usually came at him where he could simply kick him out of the way and be done with it.
So he changed his weight to throw his boot into the knight's side.
The giant lantern swinging straight for his head was lost on him until the last second. It slammed into his skull with force and sent him flying. His kick may or may not have actually connected; Jarosite was too stunned to notice as he careened into the side of the building with a very, very loud thump.
He crumpled to the ground and stared blankly at Babylon for a few moments. The... hell just happened? Had he been... bested... by a white mooner? How had he been bested by a white mooner? He was a Negaverse Captain he was capable of anything! Besides he seriously needed that money!
Why was the world spinning though...

That had - s**t, that had worked out a whole lot better than Babylon had expected it to. Despite his formidable amount of experience, he was somehow always surprised when his attacks managed not only to land, but to land effectively. (This was maybe a sign he ought to have more confidence in himself.) Panting, Babylon came to a stop and lowered his lantern. A more hardened warrior would have moved in for the kill, perhaps. Babylon was not that warrior. "When you see Avalon," he said. "You tell her to cut the crap and deal with me directly. This is stupid." How many broke Negaversers did he need to beat back before they'd all get the point? Babylon could not be taken, and all you'd get for the attempt was bruises and shame. Anyway, he had an arm in sore need of ice and a mind in sore need of a strong drink. Babylon gritted his teeth and turned to go, leaving the captain to sort out his concussion alone.
