The boy-turned-soldier had a very vague idea that he had super powers, he had the ability to leap tall buildings in a single bound and he had a duty to protect children and beautiful women. Or something. Maybe that last part was made up, but it helped Themisto calm down and focus on what he needed to do. If he was perfectly honest with himself, the feel of night air in his hair and the thrill of being able to run faster than he ever had before was the entire reason he'd snuck out of his father's house and powered up. All on a school night.
It was mentioned to him that he could sense others at a distance and that act could save his skin in the long run. Someone who felt evil and more powerful than himself should be avoided while calming presences are allies. Themisto was warned not to go out and about by himself, but what was the harm? Really, wasn't it just cool and amazing that everyone had powers? Couldn't they simply appreciate that for what it was? Stopping for a break, Themisto leaned over to catch his breath. Powers were just nifty, was a war really necessary? Or even real?
That was when he felt it - a strange presence, odd enough that he couldn't place whether it was good or evil and even stranger, he couldn't figure out where it was coming from. A few more breaths were taken before he stood up, scratching his head while looking around. Who, or what, was making that weird aura?
