IC

Sin’qua arrived with her troupe at a Shifter settlement in Jauhar just outside of Neued. The inhabitants of this settlement seem to be very downhearted over the extreme losses brought on by the war that was just lost to Oba. The members of the troupe decided it would be perfect to entertain these folks and lighten the mood a bit; lift their spirits, so to say. Though something of a conflict arose in the town and without much warning Sin'qua was on her own.

Upon leaving the settlement, Sin’qua found a quiet place that would be perfect to catch up on some well-deserved sleep. Time passed and she found herself startled awake before long by the smell of something burning. As she gets to her feet, a peculiar creature crosses her path; a Bug Mage.

Quest Tasks
||. This quest should begin with determining what it was that made Sin'qua upset enough to leave the village.
||. Sin'qua will have the choice to engage in battle with the bug mage or to flee its might.
||. Sin'qua will return to the village to find many of the homes on fire. She should decide whether to assist with the damage control.
||. Sin'qua's grade will be determined on whether she satisfied the above points and not based on which course of action she decides.

The Situation

It shouldn't of come as a surprise, Sin'qua was usually the one who had the upper hand in situations like this, but dealing with Eira and her brother had put her on edge. Her guard was high and perhaps it was because of that, when her brother came at her with the assiduity to even hint that she may have feelings for Makani she had lashed out.

They had been discussing as a group only moments before, what their act should be, to iron things out so they could actually perform as a troupe. Now that the war was over, they had settled in a place just outside of Neued, and it had been Eira's idea that they perform for the people there. A sense of gloom had settled on the area, the war had changed them all...and not just the people in the towns but it had also effected each troupe member in a different way.

Some how Borra and Gyuri had gotten closer, although her brother was still oblivious to Gyuri's feelings. And though she couldn't tell if the war had any effect on Eira, it was having to deal with her brother Makani that made her feel...strange. Was it odd that she found that she could call her brother oblivious to advancements made on him and yet she couldn't recognize her own feelings...? But having it brought to the fore front by her brother..even in a joking manner, had made her furious.

She had left, or rather stormed off her face red, her brothers equally as red as she had slapped him. Storming, she pushed passed Eira, who had been mentioning something about them moving the troupe a bit further from the town so they could practice in private. In her anger though she had missed this information and she left the group to cool off. Being emotional was too..exhausting. Was this the reason why she preferred to sleep her days away? Rather than deal with people, the annoyances they provided and just sleep. Always tired, she found herself staring at the trunk of a large tree before finally realizing where she was. She was some distance off...from the rest but right now that suited her just fine. Turning around she leaned against the tree and found herself sliding down against it to the forest floor. Before she knew it her eyes were closed and she had fallen asleep.

Sin'qua had a habit of being able to fall asleep almost anywhere when she wanted to. So despite the fact the ground was a bit lumpy and her back was going to get sore from leaning up against this tree she wouldn't have any troubles getting and staying asleep. And for a time she slept, a deep slumbering dreamless sleep, that was rudely awaken..by....

Eyelids fluttered open for a brief moment, and closed again, a groan of protest as some alarm bells were ringing in the back of her head. An unpleasant smell assaulted her nostrils and it was this smell that forced her to be roused from her sleep. It took her several minutes to recognize what the scent was..smoke. It didn't smell strong...so there was no sense in jumping to her feet, but she did slowly get up. Dusting twigs an debris that clung to her clothing, all the while her eyes scanned the sky though branches were in her way.

The smell ...was it coming from where they had camped? Grumbling she decided to slowly make her way back. If they had decided to start eating without her well...she had a brother she could punch to aid in stress relief. The sauntering pace however...was short lived, the smell of smoke was getting more intense, and she was starting to even see clouds of the dark grey stuff gathering in spots. Now...Sin'qua never ran anywhere. Never. But in this instance, the instinct to run was starting to niggle her brain, something was wrong...and when she came to their camp she found it abandoned.

Eyes wide she stood there looking blank. Where...had they gone? And without her? A hand came up to her nose as the smoke had begun to gather even more densely at the camp. With the way the wind was blowing the smoke it seemed to be coming from the town. A sound came from behind her, the sound of a twig snapping under foot and she felt a sigh escape her. Expecting that her brother had come back to find her she half turned only to see a figure of some strange creature preparing to launch a fire ball in her direction.

The Mage

Sin'qua never moved quickly in her life, but as a rather large ball of flames were cast in her direction she found that she needed to. Ducking down the fire managed to pass over her then having to move even more quickly much to her bodies protest as the creature came rushing at her. This was undignified, to be rolling around on the ground trying to not be toasted by some weird creature she had never seen before. Sin'qua for the first time ever wished she was a little more athletic or at least knew how to use a weapon.

At the same time however Sin'qua wasn't a stupid woman, she didn't cower in fear or flee in terror but with the best of her ability tried to calculate her attackers moves and figure out a way to the town. There would be someone there who could help her right? Someone versed with spells or sword...anyone would do nicely about now as it was beginning to heat up. The surrounding area had began to be set on fire, and though Sin'qua liked being warm but this verged on the point of ridiculousness. Feeling her breathing becoming ragged she tried to find the best opportunity to escape. This strange bug like creature was relentless and seemed intent on killing her. Why was she its target? Or was it just a case of bad luck? Would it have killed anyone it had came across?

Tripping over a root she felt the impact as the ground rushed up to greet her, her breasts ached from the landing and her arms felt numb as she had put them out to try and brace her fall. Tears sprung to her eyes unwillingly, it hurt..something wasn't quite right in her left arm it felt...off. Dragging herself back up she grunted as she tried to straighten it. She could still form a fist with her hand, so nothing major was broken but if she tried to outstretch it...

Another wall of fire appeared in front of her. Sin'qua didn't have time to ponder the state of her arm as she brought herself ninety degrees to the right where there was an opening between the flames and darted through it. She had to get out of here. The mage wasn't going to give up until she was dead and having no means of fighting back her only option was to run. But this wasn't the best option either, she find her breath burning in her chest, her heart hammering in her chest and with the now added pain in her arm was beginning to make her dizzy. If she was to pass out now...she was done for right? Or...was she? A plan formed in her head and glancing behind her shoulder to confirm that the mage was still on her trail she then tried to focus.

Sin'qua could fall asleep at the blink of an eye, and though she wasn't truely allowing her self to sleep she managed to get her state of mind blank and her body toppled to the floor. She removed herself from the pain, it took a great amount of willpower to do this as her body laid in a small puddle of mud and dirt. Her eyes were the barest of slits so she could still see, her breathing had become so shallow you had to wonder if she was breathing at all. The bug mage looked almost taken aback as its quarry no longer moved but had collapsed. It made strange clicking sounds as it tried to observe her from a distance. Dammit...if it didn't come closer and just decided to blast her body with fire she was done for. There had been a high risk in this tactic, but she couldn't run anymore.

The mage inched closer and she had to continue to lay without making a sound, even though she had ended up laying on the arm that had been hurt earlier she had to block out the pain. There would be time later to moan about it right now her life was on the line. Closer...and closer it got, it was just inches outside of her target range, she needed it even closer! Her body was relaxed and she had managed to recover enough that if she needed to bolt she could. Just a little bit closer. It was hard not to stop her heart from beating so loudly, she was sure it could see it beat against her chest or at least that was how it felt.

The mage looked quite bewildered, as if chasing its quarry had been half the fun and now she was lying on the ground looking quite...unconscious. It had been debating on wither to just setting her body on fire now..or bringing her back to the others. It took another step forward...

Now! Sin'qua managed to roll her body so that her back was to the ground and then with one swift kick got the thing in the groin. Wither it be man or woman or genderless with that amount of force it would still hurt and she was hoping with the added bonus of surprise she would have a moment to get up. Sure enough the beast gave an awful screech its clawed hand coming down to where her foot had made contact. Springing up she spotting a large branch that had broken and lay on the ground, grabbing it with a grunt her left arm protesting the weight of anything she managed to bring it back efficiently enough to then smash it over the things head. Nearly blacking out in pain as her arm screamed in protest she allowed the branch to fall and she staggered off.

The creature was laying on the ground forgotten momentarily by Sin'qua as she felt like she was going to be sick. There was no time for that. Pushing forward she tried to reorient herself and flee back towards the town. The mage didn't pursue, much to her relief though as she finally dragged herself into the outskirts of the town her eyes were wide to discover that...the place was in flames. The war almost seemed trivial to this, buildings...many of them were on fire, people were screaming as those still trapped inside their homes were suffocating due to the lack of oxygen and unable to get out.

Sin'qua had believed that she would be safe once she had gotten to the town... but...

Her legs buckled under her weight and she sat on the ground covered in dirt and other forest matter staring at the scene before her. A man rushed past her, and then stopped and backtracked. A large hand roughly pulled her to her feet, and she was lucky that he didn't grab her injured arm that she had clutched to her chest. He was asking her questions, she saw his mouth move but she couldn't quite figure out what it was that he was trying to say.

Dragged along she fond that she was forced to bring herself to care again. Her arm was released as she was deposited with an array of people, elderly children...those who were unable to help were basically corralled into this spot to keep them out of the way. Staring at them she took a small breath and went to sit down a bit away from the others. She had been deemed unable to help and thus put here. Who was she to argue?

What to do?

Sin'qua stood out like a sore thumb here, her blue skin jarred against the dark skins of the shifter's here. They weren't her people so...why should she care? An elderly woman wordlessly came to her side and began to look at the arm she had clutched to her chest. Glaring at the woman didn't seem to phase her but Sin'qua didn't want to admit she wanted help. Though there wasn't much the woman could do with the limited supplies they had there a make shift sling was fashioned and her arm was placed into it. Sin'qua was surprised by how effective it was though her arm still ached at least it didn't seem to be throbbing now. Although an ugly black bruise was forming along the muscles where it joined the elbow.

Sin'qua was thankful that the woman didn't say anything beyond simple instructions and then left her. Though she felt perhaps a bit of a heel for not thanking her she was too wrapped up in her sulking to care. Her thoughts went to her brother the troupe and wondered if they managed to escape the fire...and the strange creatures. Wailing children began to grate on her, getting up she moved away from the group. Walking in the direction of the houses that had been put out, people were rushing around trying to get the others fires under control. People gave her strange looks as the slinged girl meandered through what was left of the village.

Stopping she stood in front of one such decimated building her foot coming out to kick against one of the charred beams. Chunks crumbled away from where her toes had met with it and she had been about to turn away when she heard a sound. There were lots of sounds going on around her, sounds of chaos...fear and pain. This was quiet the sound of a mother comforting a child the sounds of muffled crying. The home...had practically collapsed so where could this sound be coming from?

Tired eyes scanned the remains of the building before she bravely or stupidly stepped into the building. It could collapse on top of her at any moment, but she found herself moved to locate the voices. Stepping lightly as possible she managed to pinpoint the sound under her feet. A carpet that was singed around the edges lay in a heap as if it had been rushed aside. A large beam had come down but under it lay ..a door. A cellar.

Eyes wide she moved to try and lift the latch but found that with one arm she was unable to get it to move very far. The beam was in the way. The voices under were muffled but even they started to recognize that someone was trying to get the door open.

"I am going for help! Don't try and open the door the building may fall ." Sin'qua managed as she moved out and quickly. She shouted for anyone to come and help, grabbing the attention of some of the closest people as she explained the situation and more people were gathered. Some mages gathered and using earth magic built supports in the weakest area's so that the others could go in and move the debris out of the way. Sin'qua watched quietly, envious that she couldn't do much else beyond this. Grunting she turned away as the joyous sounds of survivors were found, she needed to go find her troupe...maybe get Makani to look after her arm. She could already hear the snide remarks Eiira would say about how dirty she was...her brother would be concerned and Gyuri..would be the silent man he was.

She was struck by the feelings she had, she missed them. As annoying and frustrating her traveling companions could be...they were all she had right now. Perhaps...she could ask Makani to teach her how to use magic.. then she wouldn't have to run so much next time...
