The Mage
Sin'qua never moved quickly in her life, but as a rather large ball of flames were cast in her direction she found that she needed to. Ducking down the fire managed to pass over her then having to move even more quickly much to her bodies protest as the creature came rushing at her. This was undignified, to be rolling around on the ground trying to not be toasted by some weird creature she had never seen before. Sin'qua for the first time ever wished she was a little more athletic or at least knew how to use a weapon.
At the same time however Sin'qua wasn't a stupid woman, she didn't cower in fear or flee in terror but with the best of her ability tried to calculate her attackers moves and figure out a way to the town. There would be someone there who could help her right? Someone versed with spells or sword...anyone would do nicely about now as it was beginning to heat up. The surrounding area had began to be set on fire, and though Sin'qua liked being warm but this verged on the point of ridiculousness. Feeling her breathing becoming ragged she tried to find the best opportunity to escape. This strange bug like creature was relentless and seemed intent on killing her. Why was she its target? Or was it just a case of bad luck? Would it have killed anyone it had came across?
Tripping over a root she felt the impact as the ground rushed up to greet her, her breasts ached from the landing and her arms felt numb as she had put them out to try and brace her fall. Tears sprung to her eyes unwillingly, it hurt..something wasn't quite right in her left arm it felt...off. Dragging herself back up she grunted as she tried to straighten it. She could still form a fist with her hand, so nothing major was broken but if she tried to outstretch it...
Another wall of fire appeared in front of her. Sin'qua didn't have time to ponder the state of her arm as she brought herself ninety degrees to the right where there was an opening between the flames and darted through it. She had to get out of here. The mage wasn't going to give up until she was dead and having no means of fighting back her only option was to run. But this wasn't the best option either, she find her breath burning in her chest, her heart hammering in her chest and with the now added pain in her arm was beginning to make her dizzy. If she was to pass out now...she was done for right? Or...was she? A plan formed in her head and glancing behind her shoulder to confirm that the mage was still on her trail she then tried to focus.
Sin'qua could fall asleep at the blink of an eye, and though she wasn't truely allowing her self to sleep she managed to get her state of mind blank and her body toppled to the floor. She removed herself from the pain, it took a great amount of willpower to do this as her body laid in a small puddle of mud and dirt. Her eyes were the barest of slits so she could still see, her breathing had become so shallow you had to wonder if she was breathing at all. The bug mage looked almost taken aback as its quarry no longer moved but had collapsed. It made strange clicking sounds as it tried to observe her from a distance. Dammit...if it didn't come closer and just decided to blast her body with fire she was done for. There had been a high risk in this tactic, but she couldn't run anymore.
The mage inched closer and she had to continue to lay without making a sound, even though she had ended up laying on the arm that had been hurt earlier she had to block out the pain. There would be time later to moan about it right now her life was on the line. Closer...and closer it got, it was just inches outside of her target range, she needed it even closer! Her body was relaxed and she had managed to recover enough that if she needed to bolt she could. Just a little bit closer. It was hard not to stop her heart from beating so loudly, she was sure it could see it beat against her chest or at least that was how it felt.
The mage looked quite bewildered, as if chasing its quarry had been half the fun and now she was lying on the ground looking quite...unconscious. It had been debating on wither to just setting her body on fire now..or bringing her back to the others. It took another step forward...
Now! Sin'qua managed to roll her body so that her back was to the ground and then with one swift kick got the thing in the groin. Wither it be man or woman or genderless with that amount of force it would still hurt and she was hoping with the added bonus of surprise she would have a moment to get up. Sure enough the beast gave an awful screech its clawed hand coming down to where her foot had made contact. Springing up she spotting a large branch that had broken and lay on the ground, grabbing it with a grunt her left arm protesting the weight of anything she managed to bring it back efficiently enough to then smash it over the things head. Nearly blacking out in pain as her arm screamed in protest she allowed the branch to fall and she staggered off.
The creature was laying on the ground forgotten momentarily by Sin'qua as she felt like she was going to be sick. There was no time for that. Pushing forward she tried to reorient herself and flee back towards the town. The mage didn't pursue, much to her relief though as she finally dragged herself into the outskirts of the town her eyes were wide to discover that...the place was in flames. The war almost seemed trivial to this, buildings...many of them were on fire, people were screaming as those still trapped inside their homes were suffocating due to the lack of oxygen and unable to get out.
Sin'qua had believed that she would be safe once she had gotten to the town... but...
Her legs buckled under her weight and she sat on the ground covered in dirt and other forest matter staring at the scene before her. A man rushed past her, and then stopped and backtracked. A large hand roughly pulled her to her feet, and she was lucky that he didn't grab her injured arm that she had clutched to her chest. He was asking her questions, she saw his mouth move but she couldn't quite figure out what it was that he was trying to say.
Dragged along she fond that she was forced to bring herself to care again. Her arm was released as she was deposited with an array of people, elderly children...those who were unable to help were basically corralled into this spot to keep them out of the way. Staring at them she took a small breath and went to sit down a bit away from the others. She had been deemed unable to help and thus put here. Who was she to argue?
