Since the battle ended, Kelina has had a rough time of it. Trapped in the healers tents until they were assured that her cuts were healing fine, after that Sauron had been by her side almost every moment of every day. Which, of course, she couldn't really complain about. She adored him and loved being around him...and loved him. But, sometimes a girl just needed her own time. Now was one such time when she had finally been able to get away and just walk the camps. She didn't see many people she knew, which was kind of allright with her. It meant people weren't stopping her and asking her how she was doing. Then again, it meant she didn't know how her friends were, the few she did have anyway. With a sigh, she walked north, away from the camp a little ways. Kelina had her bow, no matter how little good that did her in the battle. She needed to train, but couldn't find it in herself to try. The young shifter found herself feeling all those same emotions as she had when she let her sister get hurt when they went hunting. Her eyes started watering but she blinked the tears away fiercely and stomped forward before pulling an arrow from her quiver and firing at a nearby tree in her anger at the Obans. With a deep breath, Kelina exhaled and walked to retrieve the arrow that was embedded in the the trunk.

Ime herself had mostly taken to the healing tents. Her mother had given up on her crusade of keeping Ime from the evils of war. The child had seen death, had asked questions, had learned too much. Now she allowed her daughter to assist in little ways and didn't fuss when she chose someone to sit and sing to, or to stroke in an attempt to comfort them. There were wounds and fever everywhere, but the girl seemed to be taking it fairly well.
Considering her habit of wandering off alone, Ime had been out collecting water. She was coming back now, lugging two buckets and two skins full of the stuff. Water was good and clean. It helped.
She recognized the other woman nearby immediately. Ime never forgot a friendly face. Kelina seemed somehow upset and, for a moment, Ime considered leaving her alone. As with any physically wounded soldier, though, healing was needed. It didn't matter if it was in the heart.
"Hello," she said softly, ducking her head a bit in apology and offering a soft sound, almost a laugh, "I didn't want to interrupt..."

Kelina had just been trying to wedge her arrow out of the tree when she heard a soft voice behind her, sentences separated by a soft little laugh sounds. It didn't sounds like a threat so Kelina turned around gently to see a young ice girl looking at her kindly. Even her foul mood couldn't keep the smile off her face as she recognized the young girl. "Hello. Ime...right?" Kelina abandoned her attempt of trying to retrieve the arrow and let her bow hang by her side. "It's been awhile, though, not that long. It's nice to see you. I hope you've been doing well?" She asked kindly as she gave the girl a once over. She looked healthy and well, leading her to believe she hadn't fought in the battle. Kel secretly hoped she hadn't, the young should be spared the horrors of battle. Even Kelina herself hadn't been fully prepared for it. Sorry for the short-ish reply! My parents just got home so I'm going to have to get offline soon.

Ime offered a soft smile and nodded. It was nice to be remembered, especially when their first meeting had been so brief. My, the tournament hadn't seemed that long ago.
"As well as you can during wartime. You went into battle?" She simply nodded to the young woman, acknowledging her bruises and scars. The girl moved to put her buckets down, to take a little rest and chat away from the hubbub back at camp. "My mother is a healer. I'm sorry I didn't find you sooner. I guess I'd hoped you were safe at home." She had never forgotten this Shifter and her kindness which, she realized now, was not remotely required for presumptuous little children.

The child seemed to speak with a certain wisdom, it must the wartime making children grow up faster. "Don't blame yourself at all. My sister and I came here to try to protect anybody we could. I'm glad that people like your mother are here to help put us all back together!" Kelina let out a little laugh. Sometimes the only way to deal with a situation was to laugh about it. "I hope you didn't go into battle? Those Obans are a lot fiercer than I expected."Kelina thought back to when she first met the young girl. It seemed like so long ago but it really wasn't, so much had just happened since then. The tournament had been fun, but it was only to prepare themselves for this. For this stupid war. If only the Obans could keep to their own. Ime had been adorable, with all her little questions and obvious enjoyment of the food. Kel suddenly wondered if any kids she had someday would end up as good as her.

"Oh, no. I don't know any weapon well enough to go into battle. I'm glad I didn't wander off. Those beasts that the Oban released... they did a lot of damage." For a moment, Ime's eyes focused on some distant, nonexistent point. They cleared in a moment, though, and she smiled. "I remember you mentioning you had a sister. She's here too? I do hope she's alright. I can visit her when we get back, or keep a special eye on her."
Which she had no healing powers herself, Ime liked to help. She would pick and choose certain patients to watch while the healers ran from cot to cot or slept after their shift. She was like a little warning bell. Of course, her chosen few didn't always make it, but she offered whatever help she could in the meantime.

It was reassuring to Kelina that Ime hadn't had to fight, though, just being around camp meant she had probably seen some things that prentice's shouldn't have to see. There were quite a few that had fought on the battle field with her, and things could have been worse had some of them not so Kelina couldn't say she wasn't thankful for them. She could only wish that peace would follow soon. "That is a good thing. Those beasts were quite scary to me. My sister is here and she fought with me, but she made it out with only a few scratches. Lasarra, being crazy like she is found the beasts amazing. Of course...had they been on our side I'm sure all of us would have thought they were amazing instead of frightening. Had I known you were here I would have requested you to take care of me. I know the healers who were taking care of me were just being cautious but I felt like I was down for too long, if that makes any sense at all." She smiled gently. Being cooped up in the tent had taken its toll on her, she felt way weaker than she ever had before.

"That's good," Ime said with a little nod. That meant that Kelina had been especially roughed-up, didn't it? That was unfortunate. She definitely would have recognized her if they had crossed paths! "You may have met my mother, then. She's that type. I think I'd go stir-crazy laying in that cot all the time. A lot of people do. I didn't see the creatures, really. What did they look like?"
From the wounds that she had seen, it was hard to tell just what had come from trampling beasts or piercing swords. Has they had horns? Spikes? Terrible teeth? She could say that those unlucky enough to be crushed had seen the worst damage. She frowned slightly, unaware of the expression herself.

The idle chat with Ime was good for Kelina. It was allowing her to wind down and relax a little bit and not feel so jumpy as she had been. "I think I remember your mother from our brief meeting at the tournament. Though, I don't remember seeing her here recently. I'm sure they have more of the skilled healers with those who are badly injured. Most that were caring for my wounds were prentices I believe as not much was required for me. Just making sure everything healed up correctly. I know I for one hated it. But, I know they were just trying to help me so I had to endure it."When talk turned back to the beasts, she tried to call it up to memory. "The beasts were large. Massive. Bigger than any living thing I had ever seen before. They had been outfitted with armor and carried Obans on their backs that were giving them commands." Just calling up the memory of the beasts brought goosebumps to her skin even though it was by no means cold outside.

"Ah, yes, that makes sense."
Ime listened to the explanation of the beasts with rapt attention, and was a bit disappointed by what she got. What did their faces look like? Their feet? How many legs did they have? It was the look on Kelina's face that urged her to ask no more questions. "At least now we can be more prepared. We will win, in the future. We will have to. I'll be joining come the next battle. It'll be nice when... all this is over. When everything is how it used to be." Except, of course, that even Ime knew things would never be as they had been.

It pained Kelina to see that Ime had wanted more details that she had provided. She wished she could give more than she had. The details just seemed so vague. That whole day seemed to rush together. She had heard of some that in traumatic experiences, they remember every detail. That was the case when Lasarra had gotten hurt because of her. But during the battle with the beasts...there was so much panic and fear and a need to defeat them all the keep everyone in the camps safe. Maybe she'd ask around with the other warriors for more information to bring back to her. "I suppose that is one thing that we gained from it. I think now that we know just what we're up against that we will win in the future. Tendaji as we know it depends on it." Kelina didn't even want to think about how things could be if they lost. They had already lost some of Jahuar. This land was her home, they had to protect it. "I think most of us have been thinking that same thing. To be able to go back to not having to worry about attacks or monstrous beasts we have no clue about. I wish I could say something to make you reconsider joining. But I know no one would have been able to say anything to me to change my mind. I just hope you be careful." Kelina's voice held a sort of tenderness in it as she was actually very concerned for Ime's safety.

"Everyone needs to join the effort. There's strength in numbers, isn't there?" Ime asked, "I don't know what I'll do yet, though. Maybe I'll be a healer like my mother, and there isn't any combat in my future." She tried to offer Kelina a reassuring smile, but she had seen her share of healers come in wounded from battle. Still, she wasn't sure where her future lay. Her mother had simply said that she should live her life until it became obvious. She wasn't sure that would ever happen.
"You mentioned your sister? I haven't met her, I don't think. What's her name?"

It was little reassurance in Ime's smile, but it was enough to help Kelina try not to worry about her. She was correct in saying everyone needed to join the effort. What if every single Tendajian had showed up to fight or help in some way? Would they have won the battle then or would there just be more dead or wounded? There were too many what ifs for Kelina to keep thinking about so her thoughts moved on. Of course there was strength in numbers. It had worked for the Obans hadn't it? "There is strength in numbers. But it would help to have some big beasts. You're right though, we need everyone we can get unfortunately." Kel started to frown but didn't want to be in such a sad mood around the prentice so she changed it to a half smile. "I'm sure whatever you choose to do, you'll do great at." Kelina reassured her now. "My sister's name is Lasarra. She's a shifter/alkidike halfbreed. She looks like our father mostly, but with her mother's, who was the alkidike, eyes. Lasarra took up beast taming not long ago and has done amazing at it. It definitely keeps me busy hunting to make sure we can feed all the ones she's tamed." Kelina was really proud of her sister. She had a knack for beast taming and apparently fighting in general with her whip. Her face lit up more than it was when thinking about her sister. It was clear she cared much for her.

"Ooh, ooh!" Ime suddenly chirped. An image came to her mind, a young woman bathed in black from head to toe, toting a coiled whip. Yes, Yes! "I think I did see her, actually! She looks very tough, if it was her. Of course, you do too. I can't imagine how you can fight, after seeing you in that tournament!"
Ime always had her eye out for interesting hybrids. Her own type was fairly common, but no two wind-ice folk ever looked the same. Someone as unique as Lasarra would have caught her eye for some time, even if her desire to talk to strangers had dwindled since the battle. She hadn't been involved in healing the woman, though. Had it been Lasarra, she wondered? Or had it been some other astoundingly interesting hybrid?
"What animals does she have?" Beast taming sounded pretty cool, didn't it...?
