The disastrous weather had put a damper on the moods of many Alternians. While the rebels had garnered a win, it seemed like a small victory for the less fortunate trolls who had been misplaced due to the WACKY incident. However, some business opportunists saw a silver lining. And that silver lining was gerbils.
Yes, gerbils. Literally uncovered by the weather in the tumultuous desert, and suddenly a huge hit with wigglers and teens alike. What was previously a common native creature akin to the common snackbeast and skitterbeast became an exotic novelty to trolls from outside of the desert. And, realizing this, the NummCorp Company took action to make gerbils the biggest fad since The Slinkies.
NummCorp took out spots on local broadcasting systems, and soon subscribers from city to city were tuning in to see wiggly rodents prance and pose on the screen. A heavily corporate event was in order -- consider it a morale boost and an economic stimulus all wrapped into one. The previously destroyed above-ground fairgrounds of the ravaged Chittentown would be the site for the Pet Food company's greatest venture. It would capitalize on the freshly grazed ground, the need for celebration and distraction from the drab effects of the WACKY disaster.
Welcome to the First Alternannual Great Gerbil Race!
In this event, you will be in charge of assisting in setting up the race and helping to train the gerbils for their first foray into the intense world of small mammalian sports events. Please take a look at the sign-up booth below to enter, and at the schedule of events to plan your participation!

In this event, users can enter up to 2 trolls for participation, but both trolls cannot take part in the same daily event on the same day (specifically, the Volunteer CYOA and Gerbil Training). Those without trolls are welcome to participate with quest trolls, but are restricted to 1 quest troll per user. It is not necessary to be in possession of a gerbil to enter!
Gerbils must be entered by trolls who have them in their possession from the WACKY event, and are participating in the event. They must have all of their shots and pass a mandatory lice-and-lie-detector test. Trolls are NOT required to support their own gerbils and are free to purchase corporate sponsorships and treats for other trolls' gerbils.

How do I make a gerbil a winner?
Participating the event allows trolls to increase their favorite gerbil's chance of winning in the Great Gerbil Race! Here's how it works:
A multi-limbed gerbil's racing prowess is determined by an attribute called "gerbpoints". All gerbils start out with 1 gerbpoint and have the same chance to win as all of their other gerbil friends. A good, fair race will randomly determine the winning gerbil from the sum of all racer's gerbpoints.
Round 1:
Gerb A: 1 gerbpoint (1 is a winning #)
Gerb B: 1 gerbpoint (2 is a winning #)
Gerb C: 1 gerbpoint (3 is a winning #)

However, the probability for your favorite gerbils to seize victory can be increased! Trolls can participate in various events to help set up, run, and train gerbils for the Great Gerbil Race, and earn "gerbcurrency" in return. All participants start out with no gerbcurrency, but can participate in events to gain more. 5 gerbcurrency can be traded in for 1 gerbil snack, which is worth 1 gerbpoint! These gerbil snacks are not fit for troll consumption or touching with bare skin, so please specify which gerbil you would like to receive the snack prior to trading in currency and we will deliver it.
There are also special items available for winners of certain events that are worth much higher gerbpoint values! These items will be gifted to a gerbil of the winning troll's choice and will be confiscated if not used by the end of the Great Gerbil Race.
Round 2:
Gerb A ate 2 gerbil snacks and has flame decals that are worth 2 extra gerbpoints: 1 + 2 + 2 = 5 gerbpoints (1, 2, 3, 4, 5 are winning #'s)
Gerb B ate 2 gerbil snacks: 1 + 2 = 3 gerbpoints (6, 7, 8 are winning #'s)
Gerb C ate 1 gerbil snack: 1 + 1 = 2 gerbpoints (9, 10 are winning #'s)

Corporate sponsorships allow for the possibility of profit down the road when your gerbil makes it as an advertising darling. Will you pay the extra cash and hope the investment pays off? Corporate sponsorships can only be bought once per user, and sign-ups for corporate sponsorships will close on Friday the 9th!

Users receive 1 BETTING TOKEN to bet on any one gerbil. This betting token assures some form of a prize for the individual who used it, assuming the gerbil wins 1st, 2nd or 3rd place. Hints:
1. Betting on gerbils that you contributed a significant amount of gerbpoints to will earn you a greater reward than if you toss in your betting token to the most likely victor without having contributed gerbpoints to that gerbil during the event.
2. Prizes will be awarded based upon likelihood of that gerbil’s chance of victory – for instance, if a gerbil with very few gerbpoints in comparison to the competition wins, someone who used their betting token on the underdog will receive a greater reward.
3. If a gerbil that you have contributed a significant amount of gerbpoints to takes 1st place in The Great Gerbil Race, you will receive a reward regardless of if you used your betting token on that gerbil or not.
The Betting Booth will be open all event and will close when The Big Race starts – please plan accordingly! If you do not put in your betting token, there is a good chance you will not win anything!
4. Choose the gerbil you would like to use your betting token on wisely! It may not be the best move to put your betting token in until close to the final event as it will not reflect rewards in any way.
