Stepping out of the healing tents for some air, Sawenah wandered about, being sure to keep her tread light due to her healing feet. Seeing all the warriors who came back to war with their weapons in tow reminded her of what Biroki had talked to her about; What was she going to do when she became of age? What would she wield? Her vision made close combat.... Mmm, interesting? She wouldn't want to rule it out just yet though.

As the soldiers began sorting out into their own social categories, some wandered off to train, others began their long trek to their homelands; one wandered off by herself for a moment of relaxation. She had soft bluish skin and a very kind face, leaning heavily on her massive spear, she seemed exhausted from battle.

Trying very hard to keep her weight off her feet as sawenah made her way over to the woman, she weebled and wobbled about until finally she arrived at the woman's side, "Are you going to be traveling home like the rest of them, or sticking around for a bit?" She asked, trying to start a casual conversation.

Zuri was tired. It had been a few days since her fight, and every day she hoped she would feel better but it was always the same. Anger, and than weariness. She hadn't even really been able to spend much time around her husband due to it.

She stood leaning against her spear when all of a sudden she heard another voice. She turned to see a halfling like herself, though it was clear she had more than two races in her. "No, I'll be staying here for a while. My husband is needed here to heal people still, so until he is done I will remain here with our daughters." not that she hadn't thought of leaving Biroki and heading back home by herself... Still, it wasn't right and it would make the girls start asking questions she didn't want to answer, nor did she have answers for.

"What about yourself? Headed home, or will you stay around?" she asked curiously. She was sure she had seen the younger woman before, or at least the woman's goggles. They were very interesting.

Sawenah laughed, "I'll be staying here as long as they'll feed me. That, and keep me dry when it rains." She figured there was no sense leaving when you were being provided for. Life on your own was hard, as she has learned in her brief time traveling. She has laid under the open sky starved of sleep and food. Luckily, she learned of the war and followed a group of traveling soldiers to the border camp.

"So you use a spear," She noted the weapon supporting the woman. The weapon was as tall, if not taller, than she is. The crystal-like blade that glistened in the fading sunlight. Sawenah was captivated by the blade's simple beauty, "Do you like it? How do you use it? Throw it, jab it?"

She smiled, nodding. This one was smart. She remembered traveling from Zena to her current home, food was something that was sometimes scarce. She was a halfbreed, which made others uncomfortable around her, but this girl was even more mixed as well as more obvious looking about it. It must have not been easy for her wherever she was coming from. "That is a good reason to stay, hopefully when the war is over and this is done you will find another place to do so..?" it was a statement, but she phrased it in the form of a question. Sure this girl was not one of her daughters, but still she was a mother and this girl was younger than her.

When the girl asked about her spear Zuri smiled and looked up at it. Her spear was pretty big, bigger than the one that she had before, and she loved it. "I love it, I plan on being a rider so it is one of the things that are best for riders. I personally jab it for the most part." she said with a laugh, jab was an amusing way to say it but it worked. "I could throw it though if I wanted, I just never really have. It would be pretty easy. Do you want to hold it?" she asked as she offered the spear to the other girl.

“Oooh~” Her face lit up, “A Rider? Like, you ride things; Animals~” She loved being around animals. They were the only things that seemed to completely confide in and trust her. She could feel them being at ease around her and therefore she was easily at ease in the company of animals. But through her travels she learned that not all animals are friendly.

When offered the spear she stared, in awe mostly. This was the first time anyone ever trusted her with a weapon; not even in camp had she touched one. “Y-you mean it?” she asked while curling her long slender fingers around the shaft of the spear. It was well balanced for such a long awkward weapon, “What kind of an animal will you ride?” she asked, her eyes never leaving the tip of the spear.

She smiled and nodded. "Yes, hopefully I will have one faithful companion. Though I have heard of riders having more than one before." she didn't think it would be the same, but she knew that some people did it. A different mount for a different situation. It made sense, some animals were faster while others can fly and still others were stronger. But you couldn't possibly form such a strong bound with many creatures as you could one.

Zuri smiled, this poor girl looked like she was in so much awe of the spear. She was careful with it, which was something that Zuri was thankful for. It was a new spear, and she would hate for anything to happen to it. "Honestly I am not sure yet. They all seem good in their own ways, I have a few more years till I have to decide." she said with a small laugh. She didn't like thinking about the fact that she would have to pick.

“Different companions, that’s interesting…” Sawenah laughed, “They must have a lot of time on their hands to train them all.” It was hard to picture training an animal to carry you and follow your direction, let alone charge into battle carrying your weight and tolerating you flailing and stabbing with a weapon; not to mention training it to attack on top of all of that.

She hugged the shaft of the spear, leaning gently on it while looking to Zuri, “Well, What sort of animals are there that can be trained to ride?” It was a genuine curiosity. Growing up in Sauti she hadn’t seen many tamable animals big enough to ride.

She nodded. "Yes, there is no way that I could handle my daughters along with that many companions." she said as she shook her head. She could just see it. Having Belle, plus two more animals, and than the girls and their companions. No their house would be absolutely mad.

Seeing the girl hug her spear made her smile. It was nice to see someone else appreciating it. "Well back in my home time Zena there are the Mammu and the Raptrix that are available, the other two poplar ones are Kinfa and Radaku. Personally I think I'm leaning towards a Radaku at the comment. Those are the most popular in the forests." if she was anywhere else she would want a Kinfa, but she didn't think they were best for the forest. To many trees to get in their way.

Sawenah beamed, “You have children? Are they here? Safe? I’m sure they are… You have a strong presence, yet a gentle face; you’d make a good mother.” The thought of her own came to mind; she imagined her own visage shared some similarities to her, but regretted never getting to see her in person. Sawenah never got to hear her voice, feel her warmth, touch her skin… Was never told bedtime stories, or taught prayers. She was unaware of her origins, her heritage, her past. It was hard; so hard it was better to not think about.

“Hmm… You’re from Zena? That’s cold up there, isn’t it?” Sawenah asked with a shrug of her shoulders, “Do you favor this sticky heat over the chill of your home lands?” shifting her weight on her feet she smirked, “I lived in Sauti before I came here…” looking to the earth her smirk faded to a weak, forced smile, “I miss it…”

Sniffling back her tears she looked up, “Never seen a raptrix… radaku… Kinfa, but no matter what you choose I’m sure you’ll make a great team.” Realizing she was still holding the spear she gasped, “Oh! Oh my… I-I didn’t mean to hog your new weapon…” she chuckled and delicately passed the spear back to Zuri.

Once the weapon was back with its rightful owner, Sawenah bounced back and forth on her feet; something was eating at her. Biting the corner of her lip she placed her hands on her hips, and kept her eyes on the shaft of the spear, “Do you….” She muttered. Sawenah wanted to know; wanted to be taught, but she barely knew this woman… Would she? “Umm… When you- Can you…” Her cheeks turned a soft pink as she rubbed her hands together nervously, “Could you teach me… a little bit?” Her voice was very timid and meek, but it was apparent that she was bursting at the seams with anticipation of a lesson.

Zuri smiled. "Yes they are safe, the have been with their father who is a powerful mage but decided to stay back and heal. I know he could take care of them. And than you for the compliment, I hope they believe so as they get older." she said with a laugh. Right now her girls thought highly of her, but when children grew the rebelled sometimes. She surely hoped that wouldn't be the case with her own daughters.

"Oh I miss the cold very much. I think part of where we call home will always be with us." she nodded, looking around at all the Shifters around them. "If it wasn't for my family I wouldn't have stayed here, this heat is crazy. When I first came down here I had long hair and was all covered up in clothing, that didn't last long." No it was when she decided that she was staying that she cut all of her hair off, she cut off her hair and decided to put down some roots.

She took the spear back with a smile. "Well you should see them, there are many tame ones around, just gotta look I guess." she shrugged. There were plenty of people that owned them, the riders even bringing them to battle. She hadn't seen any recently, but she knew that they were out there.

When the girl started bouncing on her feet and starting to talk Zuri waited patiently. It was one characteristic that she got from being around her husband and found worked wonderfully. When Sawenah finally did ask a big grin came across her face. Both of her children seemed to favor magic, so it would be nice to be able to teach someone. "I would be honored, I'm sure we could find a spear for you to use right now if you want to learn." there were spare weapons laying around everywhere, plus Zuri had nothing to do for the day.

Sawenah tipped her head to the side as Zuri peculiar description of her husband, “Could… Your husband possibly be… Biroki?” She couldn’t imagine there being too many powerful mages that decided to stay and heal, but maybe it was more common than she thought. Though one thing did catch her attention… The girls were supposed to be with him? She didn’t recall seeing them when she was getting her feet looked at. Maybe they were off playing? There had been other children about, and surely the healing tents were no place for the young; She could barely stomach it herself.

She fanned herself and giggled, “I’m starting to learn that myself… I should look for something to tie my hair up with or consider cutting it off myself. This sticky heat is almost unbearable.” By now she was grateful for the impulse buy of her goggles. They worked well to keep hair from her face.

When she finally mustered the courage to ask for a lesson and was given not only a positive response, but was informed it was an honor to teach her craft, Sawenah was baffled, “I-I’ll… I’ll go find a weapon… Or a stick, or something…” Fumbling on her feet she scurried off to find a weapon, returning moments later bouncing on the balls of her feet with a weapon firmly grasped in her hands. “Oww… But I am soooooo excited right now it doesn’t even matter.” She was aware of all the effort that went into healing her feet, and would do her best to be easy on them, but learning to wield a weapon was something she had watched her “foster father” teach her siblings; something she had longed to join in on. The fact that someone as taking the time to teach her… Well, she was definitely going to soak it all in.

She laughed when the girl figured it out. She wondered how many other powerful mages stayed back. She doubted that there were many of them. "Yes, he would be." her still very much in trouble husband, but she wouldn't worry about that. "He wasn't happy about staying at first, but I'm glad that he could do some good here. From what I understand he saved a good many lives." and helped those who were hopeless die painlessly. But that was what she had heard, she was still too mad at him to ask him herself.

She nodded. "Cutting it is the best plan, at least I feel so, but there are plenty of women here who could tie or do something to it so that it doesn't make you so hot. Sadly that is one thing I cannot help with. Biroki has always done the girls hair." she shrugged. If it was up to her they would both have short hair, but no Ikuri liked it long.

She laughed as the girl ran off, coming back only seconds later with a weapon. It wasn't the best, but it would do good for training. Plus, it wasn't like they were actually going to hurt each other. "For starters this is how you hold it properly." she moved her hands on her spear in the position she normally did when fighting. "That way you not only have full control, but it also makes it harder for people to pull from your grasp."

She adjusted her grip on the shaft to match that of Zuri’s, “Like this right?” she focused long and hard on the grip; it may be basic, but “all basics are fundamental in learning to wield a weapon properly.” Her "foster father’s” voice echoed in her head. She had watched for hours as he drilled her foster brothers on the use of weapons. Sawenah was never offered the chance, and when she asked Braka scoffed at her. Told her she was blind as a bat half the time, and lacked the grace that was required to be a good warrior… Training her would be a waste of time.

As sawenah seethed in her mind, she became visibly angry, but never spoke a word of it. When she finally realized how hot her face was getting as she had been intensely staring at her hands she released the shaft and placed her fingers to her cheeks, “Oh my… I’m sorry.” She shook her head, “My mind became clouded with bad memories.” She readjusted her grip on the shaft and awaited her next instructions.
