For once, Laine was grateful for long sleeves. She was grateful that they kept things hidden, out of sight. Namely the stark white bandage that was currently wrapped around her wrist. She fidgeted nervously, once again looking over the paper in hand with an a address, name and phone number scrawled across it. Truthfully, she felt she should have called ahead, but Laine wasn't sure she could trust herself to not loose it on the spot if she did. So instead she walked from the hospital, to where Richard lived.

She had only met him once, or atleast this side of him once. At a gathering a few months ago. A werewolf party. The guy could get drunk like no ones business. The white hair teen smiled at the memory. It was just too bad she was now meeting him again under the circumstances that she was.

Upon arriving, she took a minute to glance herself over and make sure she looked presentable, before knocking. "Hello, Richard?"

It was going to be one of those nights. Richard Moreau wasn’t sure exactly what would entail, but he just had a feeling deep in his gut that it was going to be an interesting night. He had recovered enough from his injuries that he was allowed to leave the hospital, though he’d have to go in a week from now and get the stitches removed, and his hand was to remained bandaged for a few more days. He thought he had handled the news of permanent scarring fairly well, but then again, he was so doped up on medication that he was limited on how he’d react. Now that he was home with two very excited dogs but otherwise alone, he could cope with the news on his own terms, and in all honesty, he found what the mark would mean to be more… crushing, than the mark itself.

He could hide it easily. But only after the fact did he find himself almost regretting this decision to get the brand. “Traitor to the Negaverse… yet I’m still among their ranks and expected to do my duty. Real pickle you got yourself into this time, Buddy…”

His dogs had no idea what he was talking about, but they could sense that their master was unhappy, and both of them immediately jumped into ‘please daddy’ mode. Both dogs had their own way of cheering their master up, as Baldwin would trot over to him and rest his great, fuzzy head on his lap, while Dummy would romp around and flop on the ground, hoping that her silly antics would please him. And they were, in a way, but it was cut short when both dogs suddenly stood to attention and bolted towards the door. Seconds later, there came a knock, and the voice that came from the other end was… vaguely familiar. He had heard it before, though when and where was a mystery to him… then again, he knew a lot of ladies, and gentlemen, so it shouldn’t have been expected of him to recognize everyone that came knocking on his door and knowing his name.

It had taken a moment for him to shoo the curious dogs away from the door, and when he opened it, his crimson eyes lit up. He DID recognize her… “Werewolf event, right? You’re… Laine- LAINE. Yes, I’m Richard. Would you like to come in?”

Now was the matter of guessing who in the Negaverse she was…

Laine jumped in surprise when she heard the tell tale sounds of dogs. And by the sounds of em, atleast one of them was huuuuuuuuge. At least he wasn't home by himself. That was good. It was never fun to be home alone while one was hurt. The girl smiled when he seemed to recognize her. Well that was good atleast... And it looked like he was doing okay. Maybe she could relax a bit now?

"Laine, that's right. We didn't get to talk much that night, but I remember your rather... impressive drinking ability." She said giving him a smile. Probably didn't help she had fed him one or two of the beers Gabriel had run off with that night either. "I wanted to see how you were fairing after...." Her smile faded as suddenly as it came. "..Everything." The white haired girl began fidgeting with her sleeve as she shuffled inside.

"I'm sorry I didn't come visit while you were in the hospital..." She asked, suddenly feeling the need to apologize. "I've been busy you know?" Just thinking over the things that had happened with this whole.... debacle. "So.. How are you feeling?"

Both dogs stood behind their owner, the younger of the two stretching her neck as far as it could go to get a whiff of the person on the other side of the door and the thumping of her whip-like tail forcing Richard to raise his voice a little higher than he would have liked as he addressed Laine. "Oh, I'm flattered! Truly! Though I'm afraid you didn't see me at my best..."

'And with any luck, you've never seen me at my worst...' He thought to himself, pulling them door completely open to let her in. He said nothing to his dogs but he gave them a look, and for their size, they were both surprisingly gentle when they approached the young lady, tails wagging and taking in her scent. Dummy was eager for pets and pranced about, hoping to get her attention as Richard sought to entertain his impromptu guest. She had said 'everything' and he had a feeling that she meant more than that night, and some of his charm faltered as he cast her a curious look. Maybe... she HAD seen him at his worst?

The part about the hospital confirmed it, and he found himself fighting the urge to groan. "Oh... ooooh, I know what you're talking about now. Well... this is embarrassing."

He glanced at his still bandaged hand, his smile returning to his face but it was but a mask. He hadn't noticed how she held herself- he couldn't. He was too busy trying not to let his mind wander to that night. "It was probably for the best. I was so drugged up that the show I pulled at the Werewolf party would have paled in comparison. I wouldn't be surprised if someone filmed it and there's a video on Youtube somewhere... maybe there is on that Riftnet thing."

He motioned to the couch, now that he knew who he was talking to. "I'm feeling alright, though it's nothing I'd like to endure again. The pain meds are great, though... even if it means I can't have my delicious bourbon. A worthy sacrifice. How about you?"

Laine chuckled lightly and crouched, offering her hands for the dogs to sniff. "Honestly, I think I would have preferred to be drinking with you. I wish I had got lynched sooner then I did." She smiled at the pups antics, and the constant thud of it's tail against any hard surface it hit.

Blue eyes found its way to his wrist and Laine had too look away or risk getting upset again over the events that had happened that night. She wanted to rub at her own wrist, but the skin was still raw. And quite honestly, Laine was afraid Richard might take offense to it some how. As if it was some pity gesture like she didn't know what he had gone through. When in fact, she did. She was partially to blame after all. He just didn't know that... yet.

She didn't remember anyone having video camera's at the Werewolf gathering... but then again, she had been focused on the game so who knew what had happened. "If there is something.. You could probably get it removed. I'm sure there's some way to do it." With a quiet sigh, Laine stood and moved over to the couch where she fell silent as she rubbed her hands together slowly.

"There... is something I want to tell you." She said slowly, as she tried to gather her words. "Something.. I want to show you. I just... don't know how you're going to react so... don't like.. freak out on me when you find out." He was going to be mad at her she realized. Laine just hoped he didn't yell at her too much. "Just wait to freak till I'm done okay?"

'It's now or never Laine.' The girl said to herself as she sighed. "First things first I suppose... Richard... It's me. It's Az." The teen hoped he picked up on the pet name.. She didn't know if anyone else was home. She didn't want to say to much. Laine would probably be in trouble for telling Richard who she was as it is.

It did not take much to appease the two hounds, as the moment they were allowed to take in her scent and their presence were acknowledged, they calmed down and went about their business. Baldwin remained close to Richard while Dummy pranced towards her corner, grabbing her squeaky toy and returning to the daunting task of ravaging it entirely. Thankfully, the contraption that actually caused the annoying squeaking was surgically removed by Richard himself (ie, he grabbed a knife and dug it out after the first day of its existence in his apartment), so anything she'd do would leave the two to talk in peace.

"Hmm, you say that but I don't think I'd be as entertaining as you'd think. Admittedly that was the drunkest I've ever been and the day after was... well, let's just say it's amazing that I didn't have my stomach pumped." Richard said with a cheeky smile. He wouldn't tell her that it was the Dark Mirror Prince himself that brought him home... that'd make things a little awkward considering his recent punishment. He was certain that the entire Negaverse knew now, right? He noted the way she looked at his wrist and he sought to hide it behind his back, a rare moment of self consciousness showing through as he carried on with a smile. When she rubbed her wrist, he merely thought she had sympathy pains and thought little else of it. "I'm not too bothered by that, though. That was just me making an a** of myself in front of people that I hardly knew. I merely hope that Ever didn't see my antics as being openly disrespectful to his little game. I'm already standing on pretty fragile stones in the Negaverse and the last thing I need is someone thing I intentionally sabotaged their game..."

Maybe the next time around, assuming he was ever invited to another game again. Oh well, he told himself. Can't please everyone. That seemed so long ago and utterly insignificant compared to the fool he made of himself recently...

"Oh, that's never a good way to bring up a new topic, Laine dear," Richard said, looking her over and still wearing his happy, smiling mask though one could see the silent screams in his eyes. Something to tell and show him, and it WASN'T sexual? Yes, definitely a cause for concern, but he'd at least try to approach it with some amount of dignity. "To be honest I don't think anyone knows how I'll react... not even myself. But I'll do my best not to freak out. Lay it on me..."

Thus far, the news that he thought would always throw him into a panicked frenzy was 'I'm pregnant and you're the father', in which case his immediate rebuttal would be 'impossible, I wore protection'. But what she said seemed to immediately top that, and there was nothing that could keep his mask of pleasant smiles from falling into a more natural expression of surprise. He tried to collect himself, but he was certain he'd fail miserably, and it took much of his willpower not to want to rub his now itchy hand. "Oh... ohhhh that was definitely unexpected. Then you would definitely know who I am. I apologize if my civilian appearance doesn't quite stack up with my powered... I'm told it's the hat."

Well, this was definitely awkward.

"Would you like for us to continue this discussion in a more... open area? Away from two dogs and nosy neighbors?"

"Yeah well... Clearly that just mean's we'll hafta find out which one of us is right.." Laine chuckled lightly as she watched the puppy attempt to devour her toy. "Cute dogs by the way...." The teen wished she could have a pet... but with the store... Having a furry creature running about could end horribly...

"Yeah well... I'm not exactly sure how to bring it up Richard, that's the thing." She muttered as she pulled her braid over her shoulder and began running her fingers over the bumpy ridges. "I mean... how do you just bring something like that up." You don't just walk up to someone and go 'Yo, I'm Azurite, What's up?' No... You had to be a bit more careful then that...

"True... I don't know how you'll react, you could be totally fine with what I'm about to show you." But she knew that wouldn't be the case. He might not exactly yell at her.. But one didn't always need to yell to express that they were angry or upset with someone. When Richard mentioned the hat, Laine just blinked at him, momentarily caught off guard from her nervous fretting before laughing lightly. "Oh.. Oh no. Your appearance is just fine.. Personally, I think I like you better without the hat... Especially if your hair's kinda roughed up like it was the other night..." Her words seemed to catch up to her and Laine blushed slightly. "Er.. rambling. Sorry." Awkwaaaaaaaaaaard...

"Moving... might be a good idea.." Just in case he did yell. Just in case she broke down. ....Just in case.

Once the pair had relocated to a different area, Laine grew quiet once more as she fidgeted with the sleeve of her shirt. "I still don't get why you spoke up for me." Why he had even mentioned her at all. "I contributed nothing to that... fiasco. Both in the planning and in the actual attack. All I did was stand there munching cookies or talking with some Eternal White Mooner. So why? Why did you do it? Why did you dig yourself deeper into that hole and get hurt because of me?" Her voice cracked as she spoke, an obvious sign she was still upset about the whole thing.

"And then I... like the absolute genius I am, turned around and got you in even more trouble." She had turned into a scared little girl and couldn't even move to help him back up after he fell to his knees. Laine sniffled, as she rubbed at the corner of her eyes. "I thought... I'd be okay with the punishment's I took... But then I began to feel guilty..." For everything. The attack against the DMC, Buddy getting in trouble for her, being one of two people who didn't even hesitate to go for the branding..." Slowly Laine pushed up the sleeve of her shirt, reveling stark white bandages. Her breathe hitched as she slowly began to undo them, a mixture of hysterics and pain as the mark was still slightly raw and sore.

"I ended up going back to Him." She explained, eyes cast downwards as she looked at the mark. Any earlier confidence she might have gathered was suddenly gone. Laine couldn't even look up at Richard while she explained. "I... I asked for the brand." The girl said meekly as she finally showed her wrist to Richard. "I asked and he gave it too me.." A few tears began to roll down her face as she finally looked up at him. "I'm sorry." She sobbed. Laine had gotten the burn mark to understand what Buddingtonite had gone through. But it also now stood as a reminder to think twice.

On a normal day, Richard would take much pride in compliments either to himself or his dogs, but it was hard to take them in at the moment. Even when Dummy threatened to drive him mad from the constantly growling and thrashing, he hardly heard her. Instead, his mind was on multiple things at once, the first and foremost being the revelation she just laid at his lap, and he had to resort to patting Baldwin on the head to convince his dog that he was alright when the hound started to whimper. He wasn't alright, though. But it wasn't that she had hid her identity from him that bothered him... there was something else, something bigger. Something he knew he wouldn't like. "I dunno... I suppose it's one of the more difficult subjects to address. Right along side 'I'm pregnant' and 'you're the father'... oh, I can't even begin to tell you how horrifying the mere thought of those words ever reaching my ears."

She wanted to show him something, and she was rambling, and that was his queue to push himself off the couch and make his way towards the balcony. Baldwin became his shadow and followed right after him, though Richard had to resort to giving Dummy a command when she picked up her toy and tried to follow. "No, balconies are for adults only, Dummy. Stay."

The Great Dane puppy let out a whimper before retreating back to her toy, giving Richard and Laine the privacy they needed. "Pay no mind to Baldwin... he senses my distress and when he does there's not convincing him not to stick with me. Don't worry, your secrets are safe with this one."

Though outside, the balcony was far more secluded than most would have thought. He had closed it off the moment he moved into that apartment and only a small window remained. He wasn't often the type to want to hide secrets, but even a man like him had his whims. There, it'd just be the two of them and a quiet, ever watchful Irish wolfhound, and he motioned to the seat, though he had a feeling neither one of them would be sitting any time soon, not with the way she was fidgeting with that sleeve of hers. It was getting on his nerves, but he bit down the notion of expressing this and tried to be calm... this wasn't easy for her, he told himself. "I spoke up for you because I felt it was wrong of him to put you on the same plane as them, and I still feel that way. Regardless of what role you may or may not have had in that little... skirmish... you're still a valuable officer and more importantly, one of ours. You're simply better than them, and I wasn't going to sit by and let him slander that in his tirade."

Even when it put him in the position he was in now. Oddly enough, he found himself smiling, though why he wasn't quite sure why. It was Richard... did he ever need a reason to smile?

"Laine, I appreciate your concerns and this sentiment is touching to me, but it's hardly your fault. It's my own. I spoke up when I should have just rolled over and let the alpha have his day... Hardly your fault." Richard said, acknowledging that she must have felt guilty in manner but hoping to put a stop to it before it festered. He knew all too well what happened when guilt and self-doubt took over... it was a poison, one that he thought he had conquered, time and time again. Only to be reminded that its toxic presence still lingered in his veins. The sound of her starting to cry really dug at him, but any attempt to comfort her with his touch was shot down as she continued her confession, and suddenly, the tugging and fidgeting of her sleeves made sense, as he could see her unraveling bandages. They looked familiar, like... his bandages. "Laine... you... you really shouldn't have done that..."

He could have made a joke out of it, laughed and said 'we're wearing the same accessory'. Also, he could have been extremely angry about it and berated the girl for making such a mistake, but he bit back that reply. There was just something exceptionally tacky and hurtful about that, one that not even HE could commit himself to. He let out a sigh, genuinely at a loss for words. "How did he respond? I'd like to imagine he was shocked, but somehow the mental image of him showing any emotion eludes me..."

"Darling, out side of 'work' I've met you once. I think I'd remember if we got up to something... Drunk or not.." She mumbled, trying to crack a smile.

"No.. no he's fine.." Laine mumbled as she glanced at the dog. "Animals are always good for this sort of thing aren't they? It just shows that they love you as much as you love them.." They make things easier to deal with... Make it easier to just be around anything. Laine wanted desperately to reach out and hug the dog, but she feared she might not let go if she did. "Makes me really wish there was something waiting at home for me." There was something waiting of course. Solitude. Guilt. And a vast arrange of emotions.

"Good to know someone thinks I'm worth something..." Even if she didn't believe it herself. "But still... God Richard... You could barely stand." He had collapsed in the end of course. "I'm sorry if I made it worse.. I just-" She trailed off, sniffling again. He had been beaten, bruised, broken and was bleeding all over the place that night. "I was scared of what else he might do to you.."

"You're mad at me... I knew you would be." The white haired girl murmured as she looked down and rubbed the skin under the burn. "I think he was surprised? I mean... you know how he gets." She had been asked the typical question of why, and of course, Azurite had exploded in a sea of emotion on the General King. "I don't think he was expecting it, since I had already chosen my punishments." Laine shrugged slightly. "I know that this was an incredibly stupid idea. I just didn't know what else to do... The guilt was eating at me Richard. From the attack, seeing you get hurt.." Once again she began running her fingers over her braid in an attempt to calm down and relax. "I just thought, maybe if I did this it would make up for something... I'd know what you went through." Laine had left the battle with little more then saw dust in her hair. "Maybe it won't make up for anything. Maybe it will only make things worse for me but, it's a start.."

Baldwin was like a sponge. A big, lanky, fuzzy sponge, and the minute someone, anyone, was upset, the Irish wolfhound would seek to comfort them. Now was no exception, though it was clear that his attention was torn between consoling his master and consoling the nice girl that his master had allowed into his home. He looked back and forth between the two, taking advantage of his long neck and stretching out towards both of them, letting them know that he was there if they needed a nice, furry shoulder to cry on. "Ha, well... I'd lend you Baldwin here but Dummy and I would be completely lost without him. Sometimes he's the only thing that gets me out of bed."

As always, Richard wore a mask, his expression sorrowful and trying not to let the anger be seen. After what she had witnessed, she willingly went back and got the brand? He berated himself for his decision and had hoped that the sight of his punishment would have deterred others away from that decision, and yet, that obviously failed. Worst part was that she felt that his punishment was her fault, and he was certain that she wouldn't believe him, though he tried anyway. "I'm sorry for scaring you, Laine... it certainly wasn't my intention, though I suppose I have a habit of making others worry. You, Serpentine, poor Baldwin here, my brother. I'm sorry...

"And I'm not mad at you... okay, maybe a little, but that's to be expected," Richard said, leaning against the bars of the balcony but looking only at Laine. He tried to imagine a look of surprise on Zinkenite's face and it simply didn't stick, but it was hard to think of the general-king when the one that deserved his attention was standing right there next to him, looking ready to ball her eyes out. He hoped not... he was defenseless against that! The way she pulled at her hair was a clear sign of her distress and he shook his head. "No, no, don't do that. Your hair is far too beautiful to risk damaging like that! Want to tug at someone's hair, tug Baldwin's... he has excess hair and he doesn't mind."

The hound came to sit at Laine's side, standing at the perfect height to where he could easily fit his hand under her arm should she desired to pet him. Meanwhile, Richard tried his best to hide his anger, though it wasn't against Laine, and he hoped she'd see that. "I respect your decision and I appreciate the sentiment. Trust me, I really do... I'd rather you not have allowed him or anyone else to hurt you considering there are enough wanting to do that from the other side. But, let me ask you something. Do you feel it was worth it in the end?"

Laine snorted quietly, smiling at the dogs antics. "Oh I couldn't take this gorgeous boy from you. That would be criminal." Laine glanced at him momentarily and she'd wonder just what he'd been through, what he'd seen and been a part of to make him not want to get up every day.

"I'm just happy you're alive..." She muttered quietly. "I don't know what I would had done if you had.." Her voice trailed off and she made a small gesture with her hand as if to say 'you know'. "I really didn't mean to come here and start crying on you like this.. I thought I could hold it back but, I guess I'm just not that strong." Both emotionally, and physically. Laine realized she still had a lot to learn, about everything. "Is... Serpentine okay?" She didn't recognize the name, and for all she knew, this Serpentine could have been involved and gotten hurt as well. "What about Turquoise? I don't think she was too happy with me.." The girl said, biting her lip nervously as she wondered if it was a good idea to track her down and apologize.

"And you have every right to be mad at me." The white haired teen wasn't sure though, if she wanted him to yell at her or not. The then blinked curiously when he commented on her hair. "It is far too long though! Even braided back it still gets in the way of my work. I've thought about cutting it." Though maybe she should just find a better way to tie it back. "Oh my god no, I'm not gonna pull on your dogs fur!" She cried, hiding behind her hands to hide the small smile. "That would be mean, he's done nothing to deserve something like that." Laine said as she moved to scratch behind the dog's ears slowly.

Though the longer she thought about it, the slower her hand moved before it stopped all together. Had it been worth it? "As strange as it is to say... I think so." Laine glanced from the dog to her wrist, where she gingerly brushed her thumb over the raised skin. "If nothing else, it serves as a reminder to think twice about what I sign up for, and that there could be severe consequences as an end result." Then she looked up at Richard once again. "On the upside, this whole thing has shown me that I have people who believe in me, even if I don't believe in myself. So the least I can do is believe in them." The least she could do was believe in Richard.

"Heh, couldn't give this dog up, even if I tried. Nor Dummy... eh, I love those two hounds too much to want to leave them at the groomers overnight!" Richard said with a lighthearted laugh, surprised at himself for even managing such a thing. He scratched Baldwin behind the ears and the dog was content with the affection, despite the tension between the two. He kept his attention on Laine still, scoffing at the notion of the possibility of his death and mortality. "If I died, there'd be plenty of heartache all around, and I can't have that. So have no fear, dear Laine... for the sake of my dogs and those that care, I have no intentions of dying. Not so long as I can help it, anyways. Still human, after all."

Honestly, the idea of being aware of his own mortality was what kept him up at night and it took much alcohol to quell the troubling thoughts time and time again. Tonight, though, he couldn't indulge in the drink to chase away the thoughts thanks for it medication... he chased the thoughts away. Now was not the time to worry about himself! He had Laine there and she was clearly upset! He had to help her first, then worry about himself...

"There's not need to apologize for having emotions, Laine. Having them doesn't make you weak," Richard said, offering her a warm smile in hopes of quelling those tears. He hated to see such beautiful blue eyes ruined by tears! In regards to Serpentine and Jade, he replied in earnest. "He wasn't happy with the punishment and he feels some guilt, considering I was acting in his place. As for Turquoise, she visited me in the hospital and treated me to the best strawberry shortcake I've ever had in my life. She's a strong one, but I also think she's worried about me."

There was also something else he suspected about her, but that was neither here or there. No need to bother poor Laine about the brewing catastrophe that was his romantic life. He couldn't help but chuckle at her objections, but it wasn't completely mean spirited. Baldwin welcomed her affection without complaint, and Richard respected her response... as well as admired her courage to willingly put herself through that, when he found himself torn over the matter though he'd never admit to it. Not without it being pried out of him, anyways. "Then that's what matters. You'll be amazed how far you can go by just believing in yourself."

'It's a matter of liking where you'll end up in the end that may be the problem...'

There was a scratching at the door and he glanced back to see Dummy on her hind legs and front paws pressed against the glass. Her tail wagged and one could read the plea in her eyes- why were they outside and not inside playing with her?! "Don't ruin the moment, Dummy!"

"They're adorable Richard. Really. And Dummy? What inspired that name? Have you been watching Iron Man lately?" The girl teased as she continued to lavish the bigger dog with attention. "Glad to hear it. I'm just now getting to know you, I don't wanna lose you now."

"No, but you don't need to deal with a crying teenager either." Laine added, rubbing at an eye before sighing. "It's just something I need to work on controlling right?" Finally breaking away from the dog, Laine tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear before glancing at Richard again. "I'm glad they are okay though.

"Before this whole thing, I believed I could do pretty much anything and everything. Now? Now I'm taking a look at everything I do and wondering. I need to start believing in myself again though." She wasn't exactly sure if she was ready to believe in herself completely just yet. "But having someone, knowing someone believes in me enough is a better start then nothing." She didn't know where her future would take her, but she knew she needed to believe in herself enough to make sure she could do something. Whether that something was good or bad, was still to be seen.

The scratching caught her attention and Laine looked over before grinning. "I think she wants out. Then she turned her gaze on Richard again, that grin still plastered on her face as she propped an arm up. "What moment?" She teased again. "The one where I cry and pretty much throw myself at you? Or the one where you swoop in like the dashing hero to comfort a poor hysterical young girl? Hmmmm?" Oh god she really hoped Richard wouldn't take this the wrong way.

He snickered, giving a passive shrug as he thought of all of the silly things that puppy had done, and would continue to do since she knew it gained her master's good graces and affections. "It was fitting for the time and it stuck. I'm terrible with names... could you imagine me with children? Ehhh the very idea makes me quiver!"

And he did. There shouldn't be any little Richards running around. Never. He did not miss that bit, though he wasn't quite sure how to respond to that. He lavished in relationships, both sexual and platonic, but he didn't want to say anything that would get the young lady's hopes up. Still, the sentiment was nice, nevertheless, and he let it be known with a warm smile. "I appreciate it, Laine. I'd like to take the time to know more of my fellow employees, though I tend to make a mess of it when I do. Oh well, can't please them all. I just need to yank out the weeds so that the ones worth caring can shine..."

And he would have liked for Laine to be one of those that shone. He looked out into the cityshape but kept his mind on her as she carried on, enjoying the sound of her voice even when there was a tinge of sadness there. Yet she seemed to be coming to her own conclusion and her words left him with a warm, fuzzy feeling within his gut, a familiar sensation of pride. He almost forgot how good it felt when others felt good about themselves, and this was why the pain was worth it for him. If asked to do it again, he would in a heartbeat, if it meant that others could enjoy the feeling of self worth that he once felt.

Dummy continued to scratch and seconds later she would yelp, and Richard knew better than to let things escalate to that point, or else he'd have neighbors calling the police again. That was something he certainly didn't need! He noted the propped elbow and took it graciously, moving towards the door to let the dog know that they'd be returning inside soon enough in hopes of quieting her down. "Hmmm, which of those would you prefer? I'm more fond of the latter, if only because I truly hate seeing such a beautiful lady cry. It's my kryptonite..."

"Aren't pet's kinda like children though? I mean, they get into things and you are raising them in a sense?" Laine laughed lightly. "You say that now, but you may find a time will come when you actually want children."

"Tch. Sometimes making a mess is the best course of action though. As odd as that may sound. Like I said, I found our first encounter quite fun... And I guess I now know who to call if I need a drinking buddy huh?" Laince threw Richard a smile. "Besides, I kinda like the down and dirty route anyway.. Kinda use to it with my family's line of work."

"Oh hush." Laine chided at the pup. "If you get too loud you might get in trouble! And we wouldn't want that now would we?" The puppy continued to whine despite her words. "You might want to let her out before she gets too loud. I can hold her if you're worried about her getting into things. Or.. I suppose we could go inside now? Since things have been said and done with?"

"Hmmm... Now wouldn't you like to know.." Laine replied, once again grinning slyly at Richard. "Maybe that's for me to know and you to find out?"
