Sky Blue Faerie
I like candles and chants. Some times I include stones I have on hand or flowers and herbs I can get easily. Some times I acknowledge a god or goddess as an aspect of the all that is, thus an extension of myself. I like to keep things simple.
The spell I worked I wrote a chant asking Aphrodite to bring me true love by the time the moon was new again. I lit a red chime candle anointed with cinnamon oil (Because I know cinnamon to be an aphrodisiac.) I had three roses and I picked three petals from each focusing on a trait I found desirable in a man for each one and wrote those traits down. then folded the petals up in the paper, sealed it with red wax and placed it in a red sachet with a piece of rose quartz and a cinnamon stick. No results and this was last year.
I wouldn't have put such a strict time limit on it. In my paradigm, the more specific you are with any given aspect of a demand the more you limit the modes of action for manifesting that desire.
Finding your true love is a tall order, especially in a month's time. As a general rule I find it good to consider whether that would be realistic by conventional means. If it's not realistic by conventional means then magic probably isn't going to help a whole lot. While magic is operating in an extra-physical way it still has to manifest in the physical realm. As such there are physical forces one has to contend with and the more you limit your magic's ability to circumvent these forces (by putting a specific time frame or asking for something like the ability to read minds) the more you set yourself up for failure.
Also don't forget that you're going to have to do your part as well. Very little magic is fire-and-forget. You have to keep up your end of the bargain, so to speak. As an example, once I requested that an entity help me acquire a job that I would enjoy doing. This entity obliged but left me with the admonishment that I would have to hold up my end of the deal. The point being that it doesn't do any good to petition a spirit to get you a job if you never put in any resumes. I feel that way of thinking can be applied to all magic.
These are just some observations from my magical paradigm. Your mileage may vary.
